I went there because I had about 50 DVDs I wanted to get rid of. When I got to the door no one helped me. Both of my hands were occupied carrying the DVDs, so it took me a few secs to open the door. The receptionist area is right in front and they have glass windows, so obviously they saw me. When I finally got inside, I told the guy I'm front of that I wanted to sell the DVDs. He said okay and to give him a few mins to go over them, but also told me 1.) that I can't start where I was (rudely) 2.) and to feel free to shop around (which I politely said no thanks ) And again he told me, well you can't stay there.... But very rudely There was nobody there, so I was not interfering with his business... He low-key gave me those white people Trump supporter vibes. The place per se was okay. One of the worst record stores I've ever been to. Prices are outrageous. I saw records in their classical section for $50. That's insane. Any other record store has better collections starting at $3 for classical. Same with the jazz and rock sections. Records that should be $15 are $50. Also while I was digging and trying to stay out of the way, an employee kept aggressively going past me rudely saying excuse me like he was annoyed I was even there. Will never set foot in this place ever again. Edit: Oh and almost all of their records are sealed by them even though they are used so you can't tell what condition they are in. So I went in today on Halloween 2021 & Immediately right off the bat bad vibes from guy behind the counter, (he had a dumb rabbit mask on, just so they know who it is) just a bad attitude on him, not welcoming at all! It's one of the worst CD shops I've ever been to. Worst customer service I've ever had. I've never felt so disrespected in my life. And to think I'm talking about a freaking CD shop. I saw they buy and sell vinyl players. I have been there many times before to buy vinyl and CDs. So I thought it'd be no problem to see what they'd offer me for my vinyl player. I knew I didn't have anything crazy; I just wanted to get rid of it. So tell me why when I go inside the second I enter. The old fat white dude starts yelling at me, saying, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I say, "Oh my bad, I came to see what you guys can offer me for my vinyl player" The same old piece of shit still yelling at me says, " NO, GO BACK TO THE FRONT DOOR AND WAIT UNTIL I TALK TO YOU" like bro what is this I'm not in middle school sent to the principal's office. I wait at the front door until one of the other coworkers comes up to me to check out my vinyl player. He looks at it for literally 3 seconds, calls my vinyl player a piece of crap, and says that it would take more money to fix it than to buy it from me just because the needle was missing. He said the most he'll give me is 10 BUCKS. I've never felt so disrespected. I grabbed my vinyl player and said, "Have a nice day." Even if my vinyl player was worthless, I didn't deserve to get talked to like that. I'm NEVER COMING back to think I've spent so much money there. read more

We came here one morning after a breakfast at cici's. I love movies and music, so when I saw this place, I didn't have second thoughts of checkig it out! I'm glad I did! I loved this place. They have everything I want! Rare music and movies, animes, tv series collection, lots of sci-fi and superhero movies and lots more! I had an excellent experience with CD Trader when selling a large selection of DVDs and CDs. Dave, the owner, emailed with me to set up an in-person visit (as the collection was huge). And, Brian, the buyer who assessed and picked up my collection, was knowledgeable, polite, and all-around lovely to deal with. I love CD Trader. Sometimes I forget about it and don't come for a year, but every time I do come I always walk out with a boatload of stuff. They have a large and excellent section of Blu-rays and even have a good stock of 4K discs, although I haven't gone there yet. I'm a soundtrack, show, jazz, and classical guy and they always have a really good selection of stuff at really good prices. The staff is great and very friendly. I haven't tried selling anything there yet, but since I have so much stuff in the garage that's in a get rid of box, I think I'll take it over there and see what's what. I'm sure they're just as fair as Amoeba in that regard. Parking can be a little tricky sometimes, but eventually you find a place, either in the lot or at a meter. read more

Definitely the most expensive record store in LA (possibly all of SoCal?). They have records that have sold online for $200 (maximum price this specific pressing sold for) for $450 here. Wow. Where did you come up with that price? I was here 1 year ago and recently stopped by and saw the same exact records sitting in the same exact spot from a full year ago! Insane. I was a regular about 10 or so years ago. Different owner back then that priced records accordingly. Records did not sit for more than 2 weeks back then. It was the place to be! Not sure how long ago the owners changed but they need to learn to price records to sell, not sit in the bin and collect dust. They even have deeply scratched/beat to hell records that they ask well over $200 just because it is "rare." Doesn't matter how rare a record is, if it's unplayable it's worthless. read more

I bought a few new and sealed records last week from here. Records here are more expensive than the retail prices. But I always shop here anyway because I love records and I wanted to help a local business. One of the records (Radiohead-Amnesiac) I just opened and It's very very warped and sounds distorted. I, unfortunately, did not save the receipt. I called the store and basically begged them to see if they will switch it out for a different copy. They were very short with me and said they can't do anything without the receipt. They could help me and switch out the record. I know they could, without the receipt. I was a regular customer here and spent thousands of dollars at this store. I will never be back there. I lost $30 for a warped record. They lost a loyal customer today. And I'll be sure to tell my friends who shop there not to buy anything there. read more

I read all the reviews about the customer service here and it makes me think of the stereotypical record store. And that's not far off or a terrible thing. They have CDs and records. A lot of them. Good selection of both new and used, and plenty of space so you don't feel cramped while searching through the bins. No one was particularly helpful or rude- just what I would expect from any record store. I'm not mad about that. It doesn't beat Amoeba and makes me miss Touch Vinyl in West LA, but it's a great spot to have in the Valley read more

Okay selection of records.... Usually pretty busy on the weekends. I pop in here from time to time to see what's new, though I rarely find anything I want. I've picked up some great blues reissues and the pricing is decent. The inside of this place is reminiscent of record stores from the late 90s, early 2000's. Like a place that time forgot. But then again, it's a record shop in a strip mall in the valley so I don't expect any less. I have not had much good experience with the staff. Many occasions I've been ignored for long periods of time waiting. Or my mere existence has seemed like a huge inconvenience for them. I recently brought in some old records to sell because I was cleaning out my collection and am tired of lugging hundreds of LP's around. The guy who bought from me made me feel like to total square, barely able to hide his smug look of judgement as he flipped through my stuff like I just brought him in a pile of steaming shit. Excuse me that I like what I like and am not "cool" enough for you, dude. UPDATE: 7/18/16 I went in last week while walking home from The Little Cafe and decided to pop in. Found some awesome records (Sparks, Tom Tom Club, Divinyls) and the lady at the counter was super nice and we talked about Eurythmics and it definitely made me feel way more welcome so I added another star. I purchased a product, THEY immediate cancelled my order, and now they're trying to charge me a $5 "cancellation fee" disguised as a bogus shipping charge. Today was my first record store day and I cannot imagine any shop handling it better than CD Trader. They were so kind when I called to ask about quantities and then led us in single file to all get our records. It was organized, relaxed, and fun! The best part- the price of the records! I've seen stores selling folklore long pond for waaayyyy more than allowed so I was expecting the maximum price. Was so happy to see not only was it $40, but also 10% off! So I got it for $36. Made my whole day, definitely worth the wait, and they just gained a new regular customer! Plus CDs were 20% off so I got all four items for $50 with tax (catching fire is brand new and Harry Potter still has the poster). Could not be more happy with this store and highly recommend. So I called here because I had about 250 DVDs/Blue-rays, some brand new in the packet. The guy I spoke to on the phone said bring them down & we will take a look. I turned up with 5 bags neatly packed & the guy behind the counter said "I'll take a look through them, but we are pretty picky & probably won't take many" while I understand this & completely accept they can't be buying every guys stuff that walks through the door, I think this should have been communicated earlier. Anyway, the guy said he needed 30 minutes, so I grabbed a quick bite to eat & came back. The bags were still in the same spot I left them & even the same DVDs/Blue-rays showing at the top....he said "yes, slim pickings. We can't buy any" BS. He didn't even go through them. Called the previous day, and told that I could bring records in the next day. Next day, records brought in... here was the general contents Box 1 - 180gram reissues of three bands complete discography, and some random used records that were replaced with better copies in my collection. Probably around 900 - 1000 dollars retail value... Box 2 - Approximately 100 first (original) pressed records from about 10 of the top selling rock bands of the 70's and 80's, plus some soul/disco. All records were VG+ to NM (play grading, not Discogs inflated grading), including some desirable zeppelin and queen pressings, including 3 records with Discogs average prices of 200+, and about 20 at 80 - 100+ dollar sold values. This box had between 3 - 4k in records based on Discogs values... For box 1 I was given a low, but not too bad value of 450.00. Reissues of records commonly bring 5 - 10 dollars each, and this is about what I got. For box 2 it was a different story. I told the employee they needed to look up the pressings for all the records since quite a few rare first pressings were in the lot. The single person, while taking other customers finished the whole lot in under 30 minutes - total, a laughable 10% of the actual value of the records. The had no real idea what was there, and I don't know if they were trying to get one over on me, or were just a-holes, but they tried to steel the box. On the sales floor their selection of records was actually okay, but they make it 100% impossible to see the condition of the records. I brought up approx 15 records to look at and only bought 4 due to scratches, defects, etc. I could have been much easier to look at records, and not waste everyones time. Second the store puts price stickers on the actual label of the record. Two of the records I bought were damaged by removing the sticker form the record itself. Third, the stores CD selection was great, go there for CDs. Here is the end all of the review - there is much better out there - don't bring anything rare here - they won't give you the time of day on that. Bring 180g reissues and the like that have pretty fixed costs. Expect customer service to be terrible (it was), and really just go somewhere else... there is much better in the LA region... read more

STAY AWAY. I bought 4 albums and my buddy bought 6. HALF were in poor condition, scratched, dirty and SEALED (by them) so that you can't easily see what you're buying unless you go through the hassle of taking stuff to the staff to open. There's absolutely no care shown in what they're selling and they're doing it for VERY high prices. I complained on their FB page and they replied that they seal stuff so it doesn't get mishandled. LOL! I guess their customers have claws or something. I'm an audiophile, but I do understand that I'm buying used vinyl. Still, other shops don't operate this way and would be embarrassed to sell a battered record for top dollar and seal it in a bag hoping you'll buy it without further inspection. I was stupid to assume that anyone who'd seal a record in such a manner would be doing so because the item was in good to excellent condition. WRONG. CD trader did offer to refund me, but I don't have the time to waste. They get to keep my money, but I get to give them a very honest and no BS review like this. If you must shop at CD Trader, check anything you buy. Obviously digital media will be a safer purchase, but I'd check that as well. read more

No surprises here. Most records were priced 25-50% higher than eBay and Discogs, and much higher than just about any other shop in LA. Many of the records also had dated tags showing they've been sitting in the store for several years with no reduction in price. This means having to sift through tons of stale product to maybe find something that you actually want. What's the point of spending hours digging through thousands of overpriced titles when you can easily buy them online (for much less) from the comfort of your home? Skip this place and look for reasonably priced records elsewhere. read more

A hidden gem on the west side of the San Fernando Valley!!! CD TRADER is a really cool store that buys, sells, and trades Dvd's, CD's, blue rays, & vinyls. I have seen a few figures from movies but not to many. In the movies section you will find such categories as children's movies, musicals, classics, music, tv series & shows, anime, sci-fi, horror, drama, adult, comedy etc. used and new. I love finding dvds for those movies of when i was a child. I love to find movies to give as a gift. It is worth taking a peek inside you might be surprise what you find. Use the stamp card to be able to get a free item once you've stamped up the card. It is a fun place to wander into. It's like a mini-mini Ameobas. Staff is always nice & helpful read more

I'm a handicapped 68 year old woman who brought in 8 boxes of CDs. I called ahead to confirm that they would have time to review them if I brought them in by 6:00. "Sure" was the answer. Got there with the haul and was met with horrible customer service; they had no carts to carry in the boxes, they refused help in carrying in the boxes when I asked for it, and they warned that it was kind of late in the day to be bringing in the boxes. That's why I called, idiots!!!!! When my daughter went back to pick up the rejects and get the payment for the ones chosen, suddenly they were gallant gentlemen offering to carry the remainders to her car and offered tips on other places to sell them. The ONLY reason I am giving ANY stars is because they were nice to my daughter and they paid a fair price for what they did buy. But mostly, they were jerks. read more
