Doesn't say Dudleys just says Vinyl
Kikuchiyo S.

So, I checked out this record store, and it was alright. They've got a killer collection of 80's and 90's stuff, but honestly, that's not really my jam. I was hoping to score some cool jazz, big band, and blues records, but it seems like they don't sell much of that. Anyway, they did have some wicked records there, like NOFX, Nirvana, Sade, Sam Cooke, and David Bowie, and a decent blues selection too. Here's the catch though: vinyl ain't cheap, man! Some of the records I wanted were going for a whopping $27 to $40, mostly on the higher end. I get that it's common for records to be pricey, but with Amazon.com around, I gotta say, I'd rather go there. They've got better deals, and sometimes even free shipping. But here's the thing about Amazon: it's all online. No real people to help you out. And that's where this record store could have had an edge. If their customer service was top-notch and they actually gave a damn about showing me around, I'd be more likely to go back. But nope, Mr. Dudley, the dude behind the counter, seemed more interested in taking calls from collectors and setting records aside for them. That's how he's making his dough, I guess. While I was browsing around, trying to figure out the price of something, there were two guys on the floor who clearly worked there. I even mentioned out loud, "I wonder how much this is," and they heard me, but did they help? Nah, man. Later, I found out they were actually employees. The customer service here is seriously lacking. It's like they're more focused on pleasing the collectors than regular customers like me. I get it, money talks, but why not have a store that's worth it with kickass customer service? It's a shame, really. So for now, Amazon.com gets my business. I found the same record I wanted there for 20 bucks cheaper with free shipping. Yeah, it's not as personal, but hey, it's a solid deal. If this record store wants to step up their game and show some love to their customers, then maybe I'll think about giving them another shot. But until then, it's Amazon all the way! As I always say "one and done" ! Update: three star to one star Here's something interesting. I decided to read through their reviews online, and guess what? Turns out, there are more people confirming that Mr. Dudley and his two minions are just as rude as many reviewers claim. So, it wasn't just a one-time thing; these guys are genuinely jerks/ bully's with the responses given by the customers experiences. Here's a suggestion Why not just close your doors indeniftly and your walk in customers. Your customers already know how rude you're already, so just close your doors and take care of your collectors only. Correct the problem! Don't bully people for writing honest reviews of the poor attitude you have.

The new store is even better than the last. Much more space, air conditioned, and with great employees! I encourage everyone to check it out

The owner was extremely rude, but we didn't engage him. We opted to vote with our dollar and buy elsewhere.

This is more of a retro vintage store and what makes this place different is that they don't just collect donations, the owner actually hits the road sometimes and brings back really cool finds from other areas. There are a ton of really stylish, funky, colorful artsy pieces to bring flair to your life or you! There are tons of goodies to help you communicate your vibe! I love stepping into the store getting lost in the retro gems mixed with the nostalgic inner child funtastic finds! They also had some sunny yard artwork outside! I can't wait to go back!

Unfortunately, the checkout experience left me feeling disappointed. A couple prices being adjusted on the spot is understandable, but having tags removed and being quoted significantly higher prices felt uncomfortable and unexpected. One used purse was priced close to (or above) what I could purchase it for new at a regular retail store, and it wasn't a vintage item. It genuinely hurt to leave the items behind because I loved what I found. I just couldn't move forward with pricing that felt inconsistent. I hope the shop can work toward more transparent pricing, as it really is a lovely space with so much potential.

I've been a customer at this store for about two years now, and I wanted to share my recent…read moreexperiences that really stand out to me. Over the past year, l've noticed a big improvement in how things are run, and I truly think the new store manager deserves credit for that. In previous years, when I brought in clothes to sell, my experiences with some of the buyers felt very unprofessional, in fact I had multiple bad experiences with one of the female buyers that I notice still works there. She was very rude and condescending and now when I come in to sell I specifically don't want her to attend me. However, this year has been a completely different story. The newer buyers seem much better trained, more organized, respectful, and clear in how they take care of their customers. The whole process feels smoother and more customer-focused now, which makes a huge difference. In fact, today I had a question about the pricing of some of my items and the new store manager was very helpful and I left feeling very happy! Because of these positive changes, I actually look forward to bringing items in again, and I feel more confident in the process when working with the newer staff. Overall, I'm glad to see the progress and hope it continues in this direction. I have also recommended this location to my family and friends and they love the store!

The good: I love curated thrift shops like this because the…read moreclothes are already preselected for you and you don't have to dig as deep as you would in places like Goodwill (though Goodwill prices are definitely cheaper). So, there are definitely trendier items here and clothes are organized based on different trends as well (Y2K, designer, vintage, etc). I like the openness and brightness of the store. It resembles its other location in LA. I like that the racks aren't overcrowded with too many items so you can actually slide the coat hangers and look at the items. I got 2 jackets and culotte pants from here. Each were $12.99. The store was very nicely organized and even had an armchair to lounge on. The shoes were in good condition. The bad: I saw several tops with holes, snags or frayed fabric. They don't have healthcare worker discounts like the thrift shop across the street has. The interesting: You can bring in 5 items at a time in the fitting room. One of the workers at the register was on her phone a lot but perhaps she was looking up values/prices of the clothes she was labeling? They do buy clothes here.

Uptown Cheapskate is this fully stocked, stuffed to the brim, place to grab your vintage clothing…read more This shop really has a lot of clothing! I mean, really a lot! They have tons of a little bit of everything. They have tons of women's clothing, tons of men's clothing, tons of T-shirts, and a whole lot of shoes. Really! A lot of shoes! The store is what I would say is a step above shopping at a thrift store. What they do here is, offer the best of the best of vintage clothing. So, when you go in here, you know you're going to find high-quality items. This is not to say that they're cheap. For some, their prices may be considered a little bit high. But, again, what you're getting is the best of the best of vintage clothing, and sometimes you have to pay for that privilege. Depending on what you're looking for, this store may very well have it. From my experience, this store is most commonly geared towards a younger audience. They have tons of T-shirts, jeans, and a lot of stuff that could be considered on the more casual side of the picture. For example, when I shop a vintage store, I'm commonly looking men's sport coats and suits, and stuff along that line. They really don't have a good selection of these items. This is just something to keep in mind if you're looking for that kind of thing. But, on the other hand, if you're looking for all of the more casual style of clothing, they have a lot of it. Located on Hawthorne Boulevard, this store is fairly easy to find. They have a parking lot in the front and the rear, which sometimes can become kind of full. So, you may have to park on the street. This is because of the fact this store is a very popular shop. A lot of people come here, particularly on the weekends. And, when they have their sales, forget about it. The store is packed. One way or the other, if you're looking for that vintage piece of clothing, that really cool something, that T-shirt that you've been looking for forever, that pair of really cool shoes, or whatever else, this may be your place to find it.
