What a record store! Sweet spot. The best in the valley. Maybe even the best in Los Angeles. The prices are fair. The staff is kind. You can find a huge selection here. Honestly, this is my go-to spot for Record Store Day. This is why I went in recently but I've been countless times. I really enjoy the selection here and feel like they have everything new to vintage to eclectic to mainstream. I feel like this place doesn't get all the glam it should- maybe it doesn't want it but I would recommend FreakBeat to anyone looking for the best record store in town. I can't wait to go back. Street parking is usually available. There is always a staff member waiting to help out.

Spent $4 for Tom Petty's great cd Wildflowers, a dvd of The Wild Bunch for $1, and $2 for 2 more cd's. Reminded me of Soundstations in Westchester which is closer to where I live. But whenever I'm in the valley I will make a special trip here to buy some cheap hidden gems!

Stopped by this record shop after grabbing lunch with a friend and really enjoyed our time here. First off, the store is extremely organized and easy to navigate through the various media types. They had new vinyls in one section, used vinyls, CDs, and cassette tapes. They further organized by genre and alphabetical order which made it easy to look and browse around. Prices of the new vinyls were inconsistent with online prices but I didn't mind paying a little bit extra to support a small local business. Also not going through the hassle of shipping is a plus. Things to note is that there were no parking lots or structures nearby. So be ready to parallel park on the street in front or on the side near the residential area. Overall, I would definitely come back when I'm in the area again!

One of the best record stores in the valley. Their store is small, but the selection is top tier. Their staff are so nice and helpful.

Stopped by to browse here after having lunch nextdoor, left happy with a big bag of records. They have a great selection, anything from newly released albums to the classics, as well as resale records. The staff are very friendly and helpful should you be looking for something specific. I will definitely be coming back!

This place is cool. I like this place. No, let me correct myself, I LOVE THIS PLACE. long on my bucket list of record shops in the greater LA basin, Freakbeat Records is 100% old-school. For collectors, old-school is a good thing because it means the staff is very knowledgeable about what they are selling. What I liked: Firstly, there's a huge jazz collection, primarily on vinyl, but well represented on CD too. My biggest score though was blues on CD, followed by some outstanding jazz on vinyl. For collectors there is a preference for early or first pressings, and it takes years of research and experience to develop a,sense of what is what. Needless to say, careful examination of the playing surfaces, preferably in daylight, is, required for used records. Is that a deep, feelable scratch? Or, is it a surface scuffwith no affect on the playback? Secondly, after praising owner earlier, another reason they rock is that they have three, yes, three, turntables and amps with headphones to preview unsealed records. For CD collectors they provide two CD players and headphones so the likelihood of having to wait for someone is quite low. Parking: Street only, and be sure to pay, I saw the "meter bitch" on patrol and handing out tickets (plus, they take pictures). We lucked out and got a spot in front. Prices: After hitting a dozen or so places in LA, the IE and OC, I found their prices on par for the most rare and collectable items, but well under the mean for CDs and general stock used and out of print items. For example, I obtained a few promo double records for $15, which was fair considering the artists (Miles Davis et al.). Altogether, I left with nearly a dozen CDs and seven records for just under $100 (they gave me a 10% break even though I hadn't exceeded $100). All-in-all, Freakbeat Records is the perfect place to start building up a diverse collection in nearly every style and genre.

They have an amazing rock collection

The staff is beyond friendly and, even though this location is small, it has a fantastic array of comics and other collectables. Even with my pull list at their other location, I always find something I have to pick up on my quick visit. They also have fantastic signings here throughout the year so there's a good chance that you can meet either one of your favorite writers or be introduced to your next obsession. My only complaint isn't even their fault & it's the parking. Like most of this area of NoHo, it's all limited street parking with meters or you're going to have to cross your fingers that you can find something in the residential streets in the area. But honestly, it's worth it. If you live in the area and are looking for your new favorite neighborhood shop, this is it.

The stock is about what you would find in any other comic shop, with the added benefit of being more expensive. I came in today, a Monday, to shop back issues, but the back issue bins were blocked, and covered in the new comics due out on Wednsday, with big signs thwt say "do not touch". I would guess this is why every other comic book shop on the planet has limited or no hours on TUESDAY to prepare Wednesday books. Either way, 25% of the store, you know the stuff collectors want, is unavailable to even shop. There are better and more hospitable shops in Burbank.

The layout and organization was really nice. Every section had it's own unique look. My favorite, and i think everyone's as well, is what seems to be a tree-like stand in the middle of the interior section of the bookstore. Once i was done admiring it's beauty, It was time for business. How many books can i justify getting!! I decided that i for sure wanted to get a book from a local author and some cool unique books that were unconventional. They had some books behind glass cases and some others that were mass printed in the 90s and a whole section for California based authors. Perfect. They also had many sections of some of my favorite books, books that are on my TBR and many many many books that were so tempting to get that seemed so good. I ended up getting 4 books for under $100. One of which is a book by a local author, and 3 others that were collectibles of some sort. I am very pleased with my purchase and believe the lovely lady that helped me check out agrees. When i come back to Cali, i will be coming back here for more cool books.

We were wrong! We started to chat with the nice folks working behind the counter and they told us that it is a coincidence. This store has nothing to do with the movie. But they do want to continue the name, legacy of the original Licorice Pizza store. Till the settle they rights, this store is called Licorice Pizza Records at Hear We Are. We are happy to have a new record store in the Valley after many cool ones closed and it was painful to witness. They sell a bit of everything: vinyl, books, t-shirts, merchandise that could make a great gift or souvenir. They also have a pin ball machine if you want to play and try it! My husband found a cool coollection of Chandler's work so he was happy to add a new book to our collection (we are addicted to books and proud of it!). Fun store to explore and shop at right next to Art's deli. Parking? Street parking, some lots around as well. If you're local, you'll manage. Great addition to Ventura Blvd. and to the Valley. Looks and feels like a messy unorganized cash grab. On Wednesday it seemed like the two kids behind the desk were bewildered, as if they hadn't worked a job before. I hope whatever business lies beyond that clear glass door is more competent than this wannabe record store. Their website is an obvious skin on top of a third party distributor. Nothing here is authentic to a real Licorice Pizza. I mean what record store neglects so many genres? The prices are CRAZY high for a thrift store. I understand they operate trucks and a brick and mortar building but for them to be charging nearly retail prices for used clothes and items they got AT NO COST is just insane. Parking is usually packed and you may end up parking on the streets of the local neighborhood. However if you have donations I'd drop them off at the door THEN find parking. There are often 3-5 tag colors for sale. However most of the items you select will conveniently be a label color off sale. The workers must have paper cuts from as often as they change the tag colors. Come expecting to spend at least an hour if you're on the hunt for something specific. They often have a good variety of purses and shoes. I mainly purchase small home decor items, workout clothes and furniture. I found a gigantic lightweight canvas in the art section that I just love. And I'm constantly checking the vinyl section for gems, all of which are typically $3 or less each. Take a second to view the jewelry counter, you may find some nice earrings behind the glass or costume jewelry hanging up. All the "good stuff" is located behind the counter. That includes items like video game consoles, "luxury" bags, sealed items, cameras and lenses, smaller electronics, instruments, etc. Apparently they're open on Sundays now which is new and still pretty calm since I don't think many people know about it. A lot of the workers are mainly Spanish speaking so do not be offended if they don't answer you right away, they will quickly locate someone bilingual to help. If you can take your time you'll find some good stuff, however with the rising prices the deals are better some days than others. I would give them 3 stars but the prices lately are just brutal.
