After researching/deciding on a timepiece and then phone calling various locations to do business with; I decided on the C.D. Peacock of Woodfield. (Previously a year back, they pressure tested my other time-piece the same day and I was so happy with their service). Positive experience. My story: I walk in and I am warmly greeted by the staff. Colin, who became my representative- listened to my preferences, was knowledgeable with recommendations, and very patient. They did not have the item I wanted in stock. Colin went above and beyond to take my information, and ultimately contacted me when it was in. The process in purchasing felt like I was a million dollars. Colin walked me through it. I work hard and earn my money, as the it commemorates an achievement/occasion, and they really understand it here. I received superior, world-class treatment. You cannot go wrong with any of the staff there, but Colin is my go-to. Thank you Colin. Part Two- I came back a different day to resize my watch. The watchmaker, Sascha listened to my preferences about the fit on my wrist, then gave perfect recommendations. Very knowledgeable and attentive to my concerns. He handled my timepiece with care. How he held my watch (making sure not to scratch the inner parts) was a tell on how detailed they are here versus an inferior jeweler. Just awesome. I wish I could give 10 stars to this group of talented jewelers. My wedding ring was purchased from Shane and Co in San Jose CA 6 years ago. I've taken this ring back to them 3 time because it kept causing a rash on my finger. They kept telling me the need to "re-dip" it because of some special coating that wears off after a year or so. It was happening again and I was fed up because each time I gave my right back to Shane and CO to fix it it was between 3-4 months to get it back. So my husband and I decided to look for a reputable jeweler and found CD Peacock at Woodfield Mall. They took a very poorly made ring from Shane and Company in California and saw that the so called gold back has more nickle than gold. They suggested to remake the ring in platinum with a more sturdy setting and turned it into a brilliant stunning ring. The difference is night and day. Yvonne and the other woman jeweler or redesigned my ring are wonderful and professional. They know what they are doing. Trust them, you can't go wrong - ever! I do not give a 1 star review lightly. If you browse most of my other "low" reviews, I typically find some sort of positive light in most establishments (the staff, or the product, etc.) which I feel deserve a chance and shouldn't be subjected to the embarrassment that is a 1-star review. C.D. Peacock deserves nothing more than 1 star based on the atrocious customer service I received during my first and last transaction at this abomination of a jewelry store. Unfortunately, that transaction will be with me for the rest of my natural life as the horrible experience I had was with the ordering and purchase of my wife's wedding band. It should be noted that this was NOT the engagement ring. Just the very simple wedding band. I purchased the engagement ring elsewhere and didn't purchase the engagement ring and wedding band as a pair because... let's face it... my taste in jewelry is pretty limited. Most of the interjoining ring combinations I had seen while looking for an engagement ring were either too cheesy or two extravagant for my wife's tastes, so I opted to just let my then-fiance pick out her own wedding band instead of choosing it for her. She's not very showy or interested in extravagance, so letting her pick the wedding band was the ideal thing to do. I knew she'd find a band that would fit her style and personality. After a little bit of looking around, she ended up finding a very simple band at C.D. Peacock that looked great, and worked well with the engagement ring. It was surprisingly very affordable. At this point, things were good in the land of the Peacock. The band C.D. Peacock had in stock wasn't the correct size for my wife and was also the wrong color gold, but they said they would be able to order it in the correct size and color. This is where the problems began. As the store clerk was writing up the custom order, I watched him write down the incorrect color gold on the order slip. I caught it and pointed it out to him. He apologized and corrected it. He then started entering the order in on the computer. Again he entered the wrong color gold in this order and appeared to submit it before I had the chance to correct him. As I was reviewing the order confirmation, I pointed this out to him, and he said it had been submitted correctly. With this confirmation, I trusted that everything was okay. This original order was placed in the March/April timeframe. The wedding wasn't for another 6-7 months, so the ring would surely be ready by then. 1 month passed before I received any update on the order. "It will be a few more weeks" I was told. Approaching 2 months after the original order, the ring finally came in. My fiance and I went into the store to pick it up. In the store lighting, everything looked fine. When we got home, we realized that the ring was in fact the WRONG COLOR gold. It was the color gold that our troublesome salesperson had written down incorrectly once, and (apparently) incorrectly entered on the computer order form the second time. We took it back and were assured a new ring of the correct color gold would be ordered. Guess what. The next ring that came two months later? Same incorrect color gold. We couldn't believe it. We thought about canceling the order and walking out, but our timeframe was getting fairly short and we may not have had enough time to find a new ring before the wedding. Finally on the third attempt C.D. Peacock got it correct with only a month to spare before the wedding. 5-6 months to receive a very simple wedding band, 4 of which were wasted because of the incompetence of the salesperson. There was no apology offered, no discount, not even an acknowledgment that any wrong had been done. To me, this speaks volumes about how they feel about their customers and I hope sharing this experience speaks volumes about how I feel about their service and why others should avoid their establishment at all costs. I was looking for a very special gift for my mother's significant birthday, and someone suggested Pat Hackman at C.D. Peacock. I expected a "hard sell" but instead, I enjoyed one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time. Pat carefully listened to me and then made several suggestions that fit my mother's tastes and my own budget. She was knowledgeable, compassionate, and perceptive and really "got" what I was trying to accomplish. When we DID choose a bracelet, I asked for some minor adjustments and told Pat I would stop by in two days to pick it up. Even though it was Pat's day off, she told me that she would meet me at a convenient location with the bracelet. Wow! Now THAT'S dedication. She showed up precisely on time with the bracelet beautifully wrapped and even brought along a half dozen roses. She bought these roses on her own dime and said she wanted my mother to have them! I was so touched I actually had tears in my eyes. Everything went perfectly and my mother LOVED the bracelet...and I loved the service. I would recommend C.D. Peacock and Pat Hackman without reservation. It's hard for me to understand why anyone would give this store a negative rating unless they were direct competitors. This is NOT the C.D. Peacock location you want to do business with. The whole experience purchasing an engagement/wedding set was awful. First rule of sales 101----listen! When you ask someone's name and write it down, remember it! When the bride-to-be asks you to keep the meeting confidential....listen and remember! This family will never deal with anyone at the Woodfield store. 3 associates were involved in this sale and 2 couldn't remember what was happening from one day to the next. On the upside, the personally owned diamond was mounted at the Oakbrook store. Patricia Herbert was so wonderful(very present) and the gentleman that mounted the diamond was so professional. My soon to be daughter's family has dealt with C.D. Peacock at Old Orchard and can't say enough good things about them. It seems the Woodfield location is the only problem. I think they need to clean house, starting with Erin. She is the most experienced I guess, but has very minimal customer rapport. She does not go out of her way when a mistake is made, she offers nothing to make up for the ridiculous mistakes made during a very monumental sale. Take your business to Oakbrook or Old Orchard. Needless to say, the men's ring was purchased at Old Orchard where the couple were treated with friendly, warm, and very "present" sales associates. read more

I hate to be writing this review but I feel the need to let other people know. I have purchased several items from the Woodfield location, Mostly Hearts on Fire Jewelry. My last purchased was about a week ago from the hearts on fire collection, It was a ring. I have a 100 year old diamond that i had them mount on a sapphire and diamond Henri Daussi band. My husband didn't like the way it looked on the Henri daussi ring, So I called and asked if the Jeweler could put the diamond in the Hearts on Fire ring I just purchased. ( traded in another Henri daussi ring in rose gold that I bought about 1 month ago and had it sized, but never wore it. So I reluctantly traded it in for the Hearts on Fire ring instead, but it had to be doubled in value. I said I wore it only once or twice, but because I had it sized they could not re-sell it. ( I seen it back in the case a few days later and tried it on, it fit perfectly so I know it was my size 5 ring, they don't stock 5 only 6 or up. I still ask them again about putting my diamond in that Hearts on Fire ring and once again said impossible will not work! So my husband and my daughter said go to my jewelers out here mom ( she lives in Geneva) and they carry Hearts on Fire and get another opinion, which I did. Well Low and behold they said No problem, this is easy to do, Jewelry 101 is how they put it. They did explain it would cancel out my Hearts on Fire warranty, which I was fine with, but assured me that this stone is going nowhere. very solid! also were able to size down the ring to fit my finger properly which CD Peacock said they could not do anymore , this was as small as they could size it. So now my husband is happy, I'm VERY happy with the way it turned out and they have a forever customer that is willing to try the extra distance for them. So Sorry CD PEACOCK you lost a valuable customer, and after reading your reviews here I can see why. Oh and by the way, I was saving to buy my husband a beautiful OMEGA watch for our anniversary coming up this November so you just lost a $7500.00 sale because of your customer service! I bought a Rolex Explorer II from this location and the experience went relatively well until two of the salespeople started squabbling over the commission right in front of me when one I spoke to during another visit came in from lunch (?). I've been in sales, so I know how important commissions are, but wait until the customer is out of the store! I didn't even like the first person and wanted the second person to get the full commission, but knew this mean a split deal for the both of them... So, this rating system is a bit flawed. If you're bothering to read this, I'd give the experience 3.5/5 Stars. 5 for the inventory. 4 for the facility and 2.5 for the staff. read more

I came in to C.D thinking i would have a plesant experience but I was wrong, i was looked down apon as someone who could not afford their items. It's funny cause everytime I walk past the CD Peacock store, there's a HUGE One Day Sale sign by the door indiciating 40-60% retail prices. So I decided to finally go inside and take a look for myself what the One Day Sale is all about. I asked a salesperson where the sale was, and they told me to look around and if I see anything that I like they can show me the item. So, no sale right? They told me it depends. I said, depends on what? I hesitated to walk further into the store, and decided to just leave. CD Peacock, there are a lot of jewelers out there striving to get customers in the door and make purchases. By lying, and not telling us that you have actual sales going on, you just lost a customer such as myself. I don't care if you have been around since 1837.....if you are not honest and provide good customer service to your potential and existing customers, you will not survive in the future. Mrs. O'Leary's cow that caused the Chicago Fire spared you from destruction back in 1837. This time, in 2012, I don't think it'll take a cow to knock you out of business, it'll take your customer service sales persons. John V. was very helpful, patient, and had much knowledge about the item I purchased. He went out of his way for me, which demonstrated to be his work ethic. We ended up at CD Peacock after going to SEVERAL jewelry stores to look for a wedding band for myself. My engagement ring is a vintage ring and I had a hard time finding a band that matched the look of the engagement ring. I went to several other jewelry stores and couldn't find anything that fit what I wanted. In fact I had a few terrible experiences in other jewelry stores. When we came into CD Peacock we were greeted by Billy. We looked at a few rings together without finding anything that worked. He suggested I chat with David, their custom ring designer. We met with him and he was able to work within our budget to come up with the custom ring that works beautifully with my engagement ring. I was expecting to pay top dollar, but the ring really ended up being a reasonable price. I am THRILLED with my ring. It's like nothing I've seen before, and it looks beautiful with my vintage engagement ring. Thanks to Billy and David! I was looking for an engagement ring and Russell helped me through the entire process. He even invited me to an event they were holding. Great service, very personable and attentive. I never once felt like I was being pressured or steered toward certain merchandise or felt as though he was trying to rush me through the process just to make a sale. This was hard to do. I use to be a HUGE fan of CD Peacock. Spent a LOT of $$$ here. But over the years too many things have happened that add up to 1 star. Got an expensive watch, it broke 3 months later. Took it back. Staff all nice and they would help. They took watch and said they would call me when a replacement came in. THREE WEEKS LATER.... I had to call them. They had the new watch but never called me. The "new" watch broke 1 month later. Took back. Again waited and waited and got a replacement. 3rd replacement came and broke in a few weeks. I took back and got my money back. Wrote customer service and actually got a call from the CFO. He offered me almost anything I wanted plus $200 credit. Said company was "in a transition period". So I got my wife a bracelet. It broke. Paid $100 to have the link fixed. 2 weeks later it broke again (no lie). Took it back in. Another $100. This time I waited 2 months to get it back. I finally stopped in and they could not find the bracelet or the ticket (I had the ticket receipt stub). After about 20 minutes of looking they finally found the "fixed" bracelet in what looked like a tupperware bowl under the counter. Now as unbelievable as it sounds, another link broke in 2 weeks. Took back and argued with the manager. Actually started raising my voice and the security guard started to take notice and get edgy. Ranted about the service and quality of their product. I finally got "another credit" for the bracelet (but not actual cash I paid). At store I'd like to love, but can't. As for the CFO, he's gone. Didn't last but 18 months. I give my wife's Rolex for service after seven weeks and spending $1150 the time piece came back and was not working, Do not go there this is the second time I have bad experience with Rolex, they said that they have a certified watch repair maker from Rolex but it is hard for me to believe. If I could give 0 stars, I would, considering how disappointed I was by my interactions with everyone at CD Peacock. Unfortunately, I have to echo other reviews about the customer service, on several different occasions. I first went into this store with an existing ring, wanting to have it appraised and find out what the options would be for taking the stones out, and putting them in a nicer setting. I was told that would be possible to do, I picked a setting I liked, and was given an estimated cost. I paid $75 up from for the appraisal, and the staff informed me they would call within a week to give me an actual price, and let me decide if I wanted to go through with it. Of course, I had to follow up repeatedly to get any information from them. When I finally heard from them, they said that the center stone (which I thought was a sapphire) was synthetic, and, although the diamonds surrounding it were real, the value of the ring was in the antique setting (from the mid-1800's). However, they couldn't even give me a valuation for the ring and setting. Since it wasn't going to be worth it to have the stones re-set, I went to pick up the ring and the appraisal report, which I'd paid for in advance. Upon my arrival in the store, I was informed that since they had been able to determine quickly that the center stone was synthetic, they hadn't done an actual appraisal. I argued that since I didn't get an appraisal, the service was horrible, and they spent virtually no time looking at the ring, I should be refunded the $75 appraisal fee. After much arguing with the staff and a manager, they agreed to refund the appraisal fee. At this point I should have known better than to ever go back, BUT my boyfriend and I were looking at engagement rings, and they had a beautiful ring with a very unique setting that I loved. My boyfriend went back later to inquire about the setting, and felt that it was incredibly overpriced, and the center stone wasn't the cut that I wanted (I wanted a radiant cut stone, and the ring had a round stone. However, they assured him that they would be able to order a radiant stone to his specifications and mount it in the setting. They offered several stones (he thought all were overpriced and none were *quite* right) so he asked if he could get a stone elsewhere and bring it in to be set. They said that would be fine, they'd be happy to mount any stone he brought in. Fine. He's from Miami, so went shopping there with a friend, and was able to get a great deal on a beautiful diamond; exactly what he wanted. He brought it in to C.D. Peacock to have it mounted in the setting as they'd discussed, and they told him that the shape of the stone was such that it couldn't be mounted in that setting (despite the fact that the diamond was almost exactly the same size, shape, weight, etc. as the ones they were trying to sell him to put in the setting!). Not only would they not mount it in the setting I loved, but they also wouldn't mount it in ANY trellis style setting - said it couldn't be done. We had both seen pictures of what we wanted, and my boyfriend had previously given me a "promise ring" with an aquamarine in a trellis setting, so we actually had proof that what we wanted could be done, but they insisted that the setting wouldn't be strong or stable enough to hold the diamond. So, he went to another jeweler, told them what we wanted, and just a couple of days later had the ring in hand with a trellis setting (not quite like the Peacock one, but so much less hassle!!). Altogether, the customer service at this store was just terrible, the associates blatantly lied to us about what could and couldn't be done, and I would never go back. After hearing my mom's stories about C.D. Peacock from her childhood (she grew up in Chicago), I'm not sure what happened - but they clearly took a wrong turn somewhere. read more

Agree with the overall review average of 2 stars.. Went in to get links swapped out for Michele watch I bought through Duty Free that needed links swapped... Without even looking at the watch the sales lady said she could not do it ... Really???? It is the most basic process. I told her I am a loyal CD Peacock customer who has purchased 2 Cartier watches from them. After I questioned her she claimed that there are special tools for specific watches... Really? I told her I watched it get done ... And it's pretty basic. Besides, I called the Oak brook store and they immediately said this could be done for $25. After she checked with her manager ... Indeed they can do it. Then the sales lady turned around and asked me I we want to buy anything ... It's customer appreciation week .. I asked her to apply the customer appreciation discount to the service ... She said no ... Terrible all the way around. I will not be going back. read more

This store doesn't even deserve one star. The short version: they screwed up every possible point of customer service, almost never contacted us back, never took responsibility for problems with the order, and after waiting 3-4 times as long as originally promised we were told we could not get the wedding rings we had ordered. I will never go to this store ever again. My fiance and I went to this CD Peacock at Woodfield Mall on February 3 to look at wedding rings. We both knew what we wanted: simple titanium bands. We spoke with Colleen and found a ring style that we liked and ordered them, paying in full. We were told that the rings would arrive in about 2-3 weeks. After three weeks, we hadn't heard anything so we called the store. A gentleman told us they were too busy to look into it at the time, but that somebody would call us back. About an hour later, he called back to say that somebody would call us the next day with more information. A few days later, they called and left a message saying that the order would take 2-3 more weeks because their supplier forges rings in batches. I had not heard of this issue before, but we waited nevertheless. After 3 more weeks, we still had not heard anything. We gave them some extra time and shortly after St. Patrick's Day, about 7 weeks after the original order, my fiance called to inquire further. The lady on the phone said she would look into it and call us back, but we never heard back. I called and left a message about a week later, on the 28th of March. On the 29th, I called in again since nobody had called us; this time the lady said that the rings 'just came in' and that we could come in anytime to pick them up. We drove about an hour to the store and tried them on. My ring was way too loose. The lady suggested that I take the ring home and try it, that my fingers just might be cold. Really? The ring could slide off my finger without any resistance and after I repeated that the ring couldn't be right, she agreed to check the ring size. I had ordered a 5.5; it was a 6. They hadn't bothered to check it before we came in, apparently. The lady feigned apologies, but seemed more concerned about informing us that it wasn't their fault, that it was their supplier's fault. For a jeweler who markets themselves as more 'high-end' than other chains (with a private security guard who eyed us with suspicion every time we entered the store), they seemed more concerned about their image than doing anything to appease their customer. There were other issues. It turns out the reason they never called us when our rings arrived is because they didn't enter our phone numbers into their system properly. They had no contact information for us! I found this out after asking more questions when she said the rings must have arrived a few days ago...not that day. Who knows when they actually arrived in the store. The lady assured us that she would tell Colleen and Colleen would call us the next day, a Saturday. Monday evening, again not having heard anything, I called the store and Colleen was available. She apologized and said she would talk to the supplier about getting a rush order completed to correct the issue, but couldn't provide a time frame. Colleen assured me she would call me back with an answer no later than 4 pm Tuesday. Needless to say, nobody called back. Friday, April 5, over two months after we had placed our order, I called the store again and requested to speak to the manager, Jenny, who was available. I calmly explained the story up to that point; Jenny said she would look into it and call me back in 10 minutes. I was surprised when she actually called back about 15 minutes later. She reiterated most of what I had said but that she said that Colleen had called us and left a message to say she was looking into other supply options. Colleen had not called either one of us and had not left a message. It turns out, after talking with Jenny, who seemed more apologetic and sincere than the lady we had spoken to in the store the previous week, that their supplier was not able to make my titanium ring in a 5.5, that the cutoff was a size 6, and that pretty much no titanium ring manufacturer made below a 6 because of manufacturing difficulties. So after waiting 2 months (and glad we ordered them well before the wedding), we were told they couldn't even fulfill the original order! After insisting several times that I wanted a refund, which felt like pulling teeth, with Jenny trying to find some other solution, she agreed to process the refund over the phone and said she would mail a receipt. We still have not received the receipt. We then went to Kay Jewelers, in the same mall, ordered practically identical rings for $100 less from Marvin and Melissa, and got them--including mine in the correct, 5.5 size--in 6 days and the process was painless (they even called us when the rings were in!). read more

This is a great jewelry store for the first time buyer or repeat customer! Any time I go to Woodfield, I always have a good experience when I visit this store. The staff are friendly and down to earth, which is nice because walking into some jewelry stores can be intimidating. The store itself is very nice and always clean. I like the attention to detail and customer service that you get when you are there. They always make me feel welcome, even though most of the time I'm just there browsing or asking questions. Most of all, the employees there have a great passion for their job and give good advice. Austin helped me purchase the watch that I've wanted for over a year now, "BLNR GMT" and I wouldn't of been able to buy it without his help. Worst customer service ever! Saturday, we were shopping for engagement rings in the mall. We found many helpful salespeople in other stores who showed us rings we may like. Then we walked into cd peacock looking for the engagement ring we saw on one of their commercials. The lady told us they dont sell that style and didnt offer any further assistance. Money was no object to us, but apparently this sales lady felt we couldnt afford their jewelry or her time. Judging us on our looks (being a young couple) lost them a big sale! read more

my fiancé spent a good amount of money on my ring and I must say when I went in to get it sized the salesperson was very helpful and super friendly. Sad to say that today a different salesperson made me very disappointed. I went in to get my ring cleaned, so she said okay I need the ring and held her hand out, so I placed it in her hand and she went to the back, didn't say or ask me anything. Not even 2 minutes later she returns and my ring looks the exact same, I felt that the back of the diamond was dirty which is why I was there. I asked her what she did and she said oh cleaned it with a solution and a toothbrush and then steamed it. I said it looks exactly the same as when I gave it to you, she says oh for a deeper clean you have to come earlier, we soak it in the solution for about an hour. I was so disappointed, why didn't she ask if I was looking for a deep clean or that they didn't do cleanings after a certain time? Why be so lazy? And pretend to go "clean" my ring? I hate that they treat things with such little importance when it means a lot to the customer who purchased it. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star. After having this horrible experience there (info in a seperate review on 6/22) we are still disputing a charge that was never authorized to be put on the account that was also not authorized to be opened. They flat out lied to us and told us that the illegitimate charge was reversed, however, as of this am (over a month later) the charge is still on our account which was closed by us because peacock later refused to close it. DON'T GO TO THIS STORE!!! They are as decietful as they can be. I am a pilot and my boyfriend is an architect (to show that were not exactly stupid) and even we were tricked!! This location I had an issue with my engagement ring with the prongs getting loose which caused the center diamond to become loose. They fixed it temporarily at Oakbrook location then it happened again a month later. The Assistant Manager Joe went out of his way to help me get this fixed and sent back to Jaffe. He should be the Manager as he cares about his customers and making them happy. read more
