My house is highly secure, and to that end I have cameras covering every square inch of it - and it was really fun to pull them up from time to time to see how the job was progressing and watch how he was able to surgically remove concrete attached to the house with a piece of heavy equipment without a single chip of the house going with it. I met the owner, David, when he was doing some work for a neighbor. The neighbor spoke highly of…read morethe experience and the result, so I called the company. And I called one other company for a second bid. David showed up in time for our appointment, and his explanation of the problem (80 year old mortar in our brick house was falling out). The previous owner had gotten some of it repaired. That mortar was failing, too. I was particularly concerned because one pillar that carries a heavy load was cracked so badly (see photo) that you could see daylight through it from top to bottom. David explained why it had failed, and how the repair work someone had done years ago made matters worse. His bid that was about the same price as the other firm, but his explanation -- and the bid itself -- were so clear that D. Masonry was my obvious choice. He provided me with proof of insurance, too, a request the other company ignored. They lived up to my high expectations. Watching them work, I realized that tuck pointing is a highly skilled craft, practically an art form. They took the time to mix and try a range of mortar colors. With their help, we selected the one they advised. Now that the new mortar has completely dried, I can see it is a perfect color match. The pillar I was so nervous about? They elaborately jacked up and stabilized things, so they could remove the pillar, which they disassembled completely, laying out all the bricks (with all the old mortar removed), so they could put them back exactly as they were, only sturdy now, and good as new. Masonry repairs -- done well -- simply disappear when the work is done, right? As long as I own this house, my gratitude for this job-well-done will live on.

Totally disappointed in their work. Hired them to finish an outside brick project, along with a…read morekitchen backsplash and interior fireplace wall. Their attention to detail is horrible. The kitchen backsplash has Grout lines with 2 different colors after they "cleaned the brick". They blamed it on the chemicals they used on one section and that they couldn't rinse it with a hose (it's a kitchen of course you can't use a hose), the grout lines are very messy, and mortar on face of brick that they can't get off. The fireplace surround looks absolutely horrible. Some areas are out of level by over 1/2" in a 12"w span, unnecessary large gaps against a wall, and left the face of bricks full of mortar. They have stopped responding to correct the problems. Basically wasted over $2,500 in brick costs, not including the cost to repair the walls once it is torn down. Totally unprofessional company.
