We were told during the walkthrough that everything looked good, but later received over $1,000 in unexpected deposit deductions, including charges that did not match the condition of the property or items previously documented. (Aka they cleaned the floors and then charged 150+ for a "floor treatment", those floor were washed every other day.. idk what treatment you needed.) I was looking to buy a CBH home, approximately 2 to 3 years ago. I liked a particular neighborhood, but was unsure if I wanted to live there just yet on top of considering the price/value of that property. So instead, I rented a CBH home, three doors down from the one that I initially looked at purchasing. And now after renting this home for 15 months, I thank my lucky stars that I did not purchase a CBH home. For a home that was built in 2022, to have no air-conditioning three times in 15 months, due to poor workmanship, etc., leaky dripping, condensation lines upstairs, leaking through the ceiling, weird electrical issues, the settling of the home or what appears to be settling. Poor distribution of air throughout the whole HVAC system. Some rooms, stone cold, some rooms way way warmer. And as I look around, with my car covered in dust shortly after I wash it. I look up the neighborhood and I look at all these new homes being built by CBH. And what I see, is very disheartening. I will never buy a CBH home. It's amazing that every repair person that I have had entered this home, shakes their head at how the home was built. And they are often referred to as, "well that's a typical garbage CBH home." These are people that clean up your mistakes, your guys's shortcuts. But hey, you guys are making a hell of a business. read more

These homes are crap!!!! The walls are complete garbage. You have to be very very careful or else the walls will scratch or dent. The cupboards or drawers break very easily. the foundation of our home with all of the moisture I am afraid is going to give way. When I take the garbage back to the backyard even with a bunch of rocks my feet sink. The fence is already breaking. There is absolutely no storage in the home even though the home is large there is nowhere to place things like closets or shelves. I moved here from out of state and happened to purchase a new CBH home with landscaping in backyard included in purchase. Immediately when sprinklers started to work, water pooled in yard and never dried up completely. Many, many, many requests with photos were sent to 210 warranty in which one excuse after another was given that it was something I was doing wrong. I was watering too much etc. Even when their own team came out to adjust sprinkler system and water still pooled, they did nothing to help with the drainage. It is evident that there has been a history of poor grading with water flooding with this builder and he avoids doing the right thing by putting in french drains or any drainage whatsoever. He appears to have no conscience left for anyone. Even those who work for him know the truth and have turned their backs on us who suffer from the lies and unfufilled promises of the hopes of a future investment in a faithful business of integrity and good standing. I am shattered and so depressed. I am a senior alone living on pension and put all my life savings into this CBH home. My last investment. Now, I am being ignored by my builder and landscaper who took my money and ran. All I asked for was a drain that should have been put in in the first place. The rain has not even started yet. My husband and I purchased a CBH home in May of 2022. We were first time homebuyers. Almost immediately, our yard started flooding. Even on a 100 degree day, we have thousands of gallons of standing water. We cannot even walk around the side of our house without our feet sinking. The backyard that we dreamed of our kids playing in is now a mosquito breeding ground and a drowning hazard. I emailed CBH about this and was sent snippets of the addendum we signed as a response. They refused to take any responsibility and suggested we plant grass. You cannot plant grass in standing water. We are hard working native Idahoans. So many issues with our CBH home in Star Idaho, and I'm not the only one. From customer service to the overall construction itself. Even grading is something CBH cannot do properly....do your research when buying one of their homes because living in a nightmare is no fun. Ce ce C: you respond to everyone's reviews telling them CBH takes their reviews seriously. What a joke. CBH WILL NOT EVEN take responsibility for their grading issues. Might be the worst builder of all time. Everything about them is cheap. At first glance they appear to offer a great warranty on their homes. But they do all their warranty repairs in house and their crews suck. My furnace started leaking not long after I bought the home in 2022. Because it was under warranty with Icon heating and air(which I later found out CBH owns) I had them come out to fix the problem. Well they apparently didn't fix it because not long after that it leaked again and flooded through my wall and got to my carpet. I had to pay over $1,000 to have A1 come do the job right. On top of that when I bought the home my sliding back door didn't lock. CBH came out and after about 30 minutes the guy told me in order to lock the back door I had to slam it shut first. My friend is a contractor and he came out after that and fixed the door in 5 minutes. Such a cheap, trashy company! They need to have their construction license revoked! read more

Buyer beware - your yard will flood and your crawlspace will likely flood too. They know it's an issue in all subdivisions - and there's nothing anybody around here is going to do to stick up for homeowners. Plan to put in French drains around your yard and subpumps in the crawlspace (~$6k+). "customer service"/warranty department will make your life h3ll "investigating" and copy/pasting prior responses. Make them do it upfront or shave off $$ from your purchase price to get it done. Otherwise you will go crazy checking crawlspace for 6+ months and playing a stupid cat and mouse game with CBH. We have 2 properties in the same subdivision that we recently discovered need subpumps; neighbors who also discovered water or already had pumps installed (paid for by builder = culpability). You need to check under the vapor barrier - after it rains or snow melts there are puddles like a water mattress underneath. Editing to address the business owner response below - I have been in contact with your team for this ongoing issue for 3+ months only for them to drag out the situation until sprinklers were turned on and gaslight me. Customer service, warranty, and whoever is in charge of responding to BBB complaints has had ample opportunity to right the wrong. read more

CBH continues to disappoint. Basic courtesies are being avoided. I purchased an inspection before my 12 month home warranty expired. You might get a kick out of what they denied BEFORE they came to evaluate or saw any pictures. Foundation crack - denied. Under house insulation which had fallen down due to lack of secure placement in under a year - denied. Failure to secure water lines under the home, they have dropped - denied. My hanger bar in my master closet was cut too short and kept dropping my shirts - fortunately the good guys who actually were doing the work on this particular repair fought for me here, but initially and still marked - denied. Before these faulty home issues were even checked out, they already denied my request for review. I will continue to update and post pictures upon further repair denials that were caught during the inspection. Where is the basic courtesy to the customer? A few dollars to them, significant items to the home owner. CBH needs to pivot to show customer appreciation in this challenging environment. It's not as easy to get away with the nonsense of a hot market anymore. At this point, I would not recommend CBH homes to any of my friends or family. *None of these pictures were given a courtesy review before being denied repairs within the 1-year warranty. Will the response to this be ownership, accountability and humility? Or excuses as seen on so many similar reviews from the past? Time will tell. read more

We will never trust CBH homes again. Their sales team purposely withheld information from us until after close to induce us to close because market value had dropped significantly. Intentional omission of information that would materially impact the value of a home to a buyer is also known as FRAUD! We signed a contract to purchase a new home in June 2022. At that time, I told the sales agent that I work from home for an out of state company and rely on high quality, high speed internet to do my job if I'm going to live here. As we got closer to close (mid-July 2022), CBH had dropped the prices in our new neighborhood by around $45k and increased incentives by $10k. A few days before close, I reached out to broadband providers to schedule internet setup. They could not find the address. We went to our new homeowner's orientation the day before closing. I explained to the Super that we'd called broadband providers and they couldn't find the address. He squirmed a bit and then said that it sometimes happens with new construction but that the house was ready to go with internet. "Just call them after close. They will have you unplug this thing here in the garage and plug it back in and you'll be all set." We didn't feel super comfortable with that answer, so I reached out to the sales team and asked them directly about it. For a sales team that had responded to every other email I had previously sent in a matter of 2 business hours, I was a little surprised that I got no response. I tried calling, no answer. I needed good internet at the house to keep my job. The sales team knew this as I'd told them on multiple occasions. We went to close relying on what the Super had told us at our NHO. Imagine my surprise when just 40 MINUTES after our purchase had funded and recorded, we receive an email from the CBH sales team informing us of internet issues in the community - that there was no broadband available and they didn't know when it would be available (As of February 2023, still no broadband available). They sent a list of mobile and satellite providers "that might work for you". Upon investigation, half the list did not even service the address and the other half had data caps. I ended up getting an unlimited data plan on my phone with a 50GB cap on 5G (their highest plan). I burned through the data cap in the first 8-12 days of the month and then got throttled. I almost lost my job because I would disconnect from so many meetings. Time and time again, I had to make other arrangements or go other places to have enough internet access. When I asked CBH what they were going to do about it and I expressed my frustration over them lying to me by withholding information before close, they simply said, "Telecommunication services are always an arrangement between the homeowner and the service provider, and CBH nor the Development companies have control over the telecommunications installation. We'll take this feedback back to the team and work on better ways to handle this situation in the future." Finally, by December 2022, we and some of the neighbors had convinced Verizon to service the area with their 5G home internet. However, the damage was done, and it was too little, too late. I felt I had to move back to where my company is headquartered in order to keep a job at that point. We sold the house at a HUGE loss - a house we would never have been in if CBH's sales team had been forthcoming and honest with the truth. They knew there was an issue, and they knew that if we had known about the issue we would have walked away, and the market had dropped $55k on that house compared to what they had us under contract to pay. I'm a CPA. I know what fraud is. I've helped put people in jail who I've caught committing fraud. What CBH did constitutes fraud. STAY AWAY!!! 3-3-23 Update based on CBH response - Every time I talk to CBH about this issue, they go off about how they aren't part of installing internet in communities or that they are sorry I couldn't get my preferred provider and that internet is not a builder-provided service. No duh, Sherlock. What they TOTALLY sidestep and fail to acknowledge is that they knew there was an issue in the community and didn't disclose it when asked directly about it. Instead, they waited until 43 MINUTES AFTER WE FUNDED to send us their standard, "there's an internet issue in the community" email!!! (i.e. they absolutely avoided telling us to induce us to close because home values in the neighborhood had dropped $55,0000 since we signed the contract). I told them that their Super had told me there was internet wired and ready to go and they failed to refute that! They knew I would have walked away if they had been honest and upfront. THIS is the issue - lack of transparency and honesty from CBH in the sales process. So, watch out! As evidenced by CBH's response to my review, they will always sidestep real issues to deflect and then tell you, "not our problem". read more

Okay....so quick disclaimer, I'm a project manager for a large commercial builder so this will be not only an honest review but highly qualified and just. That said, let's get to it because we have a bit to cover.... Reviewing their business on Yelp they only have either 1 star or 5 star reviews. Not to discredit any other reviews here because that's not my gig. but they are in truth neither. I do acknowledge however they are good at certain things and horrible at others. Here is the run down from our home purchase experience: We bought a spec home (one already built) so I cannot speak to the design process, but I have heard thru the grape vine they will no longer be building homes from their design center and all homes will be spec homes in the near future due to the market. The home itself is actually pretty nice for the dollar spent. We scored a large lot but that is not typical. There are a few different aspects of the process where their rating should be broken out...see below: Home quality - The overall build quality of the home is average to above average, so 3 stars here. I have heard directly from framers in the valley that Corey Barton homes are sticklers when it comes to the framing/structure and I can vouch for that living in the home. The interior finish quality is average however, many little details only I would notice but I know cbh supes see them and dont bother taking care of them before turnover. Buying experience: Here is where it hurt...1 star...I know. Getting thru the actual contract was painful..absolutley ridiculous at times...with some brief insane moments. I write these contracts for a living mind you so I know what they can and cant do....so I pushed back hard on some things. But without getting Into details they tried to sneak things into addendums, consistantly got addendums incorrect, and nearly delayed the closing of our home....oh and failed to have a washer and dryer and fridge in the home before move in....for 4 days!!! And didn't disclose it!!! Fail. Warranty: I am happy to report their warranty process is smooth and very easy. 4 stars. Everything that has come up has been Taken care of timely and professionally. Please note I know the difference between a warranty item and a punch item. All these things considered they are a 3 star builder. If you can endure the purchase process with them you will be in a nicely built home for a good price. I have no regrets thus far and we have been very happy with the house, but mind the ratings above....stock up on some qualudes and hang in there till closing and give them hell on the final walk thru and everything will be fine. read more

We leased from CBH (they claim Proximity) we tried to run Christmas lights and our little electric fire place. It would blow fuses, we were told to run an extension cord from kitchen to living room. Our kitchen floor, wood laminate lifted I was told by many of our neighbors theirs did the same in laundry room, dining area and kitchen. Our front door lock broke, took them a week to fix. Sprinkler was spraying cars - they never fixed, cannot does were falling off because of way installed. When moving out ourselves, and several neighbors, all found themselves being told they had to replace carpeting. They said mine was due to pretty urine. Not true, we had our carpets cleaned before hand. We received a bill for this and I called the company billing (Builders Inc) their accounting depot answers CBH Homes. I called another line and reached Becca. I gave her Invoice number and asked for what it emailed. She said cabinetry repair, floor laminate panels and carpet. When I questioned Shannen at CBH she refused to give itemized invoice. While having a moving sell had a few people come in and ask me about the RENTALS CBH is now SELLING. One place they were interested in they asked about. I said that's was a great group of guy kids. They always had parties and were working on cars but great kids. They were told by Sheila BARTON it was a family that couldn't afford it. I have filled BBB complaint and will be going to small claims. I strongly encourage NOT TO BUY FROM SHEILA BARTON HOMES. They are COREY BARTON HOMES and are thrown together, nothing but problems. Corey Barton had his license taken away for selling sub standard homes and not accommodating it correcting. Where do I even start... my experience with the CBH team and my home have been poor since buying my home in NW Meridian last spring. There are too many issues to dive into deep detail on so I'll itemize a few of the larger items below: -Our "frost free" house bib froze during its first winter and subsequently flooded our home. CBH of course refused to cover the part or any damage and additionally brought out a plumber that charged us $650 for 15 minutes of work to swap out a $50 part. -The CBH team has been an absolute joke to work with on our warranty issues. I've followed up dozens of times without any form of resolution. I "worked" with Jenice Gonzales whom was unresponsive and never able to give me any form of resolution for the hose bib failure so congrats, here are your honest reviews. -In general, the home warranty is useless. We were never able to get anything covered under it. Common issue with CBH. The list of things they won't cover is huge. -Standing water in the backyard due to poor grade, another common issue with CBH. -As you'd expect, shoddy materials and build quality throughout. Most fixtures and finishes are something you could find at Walmart. I liken our home to a spruced up Tuff Shed, which is really what it is. -Every corner that could be cut during construction was taken. I.E. top of door trim boards not painted, ceiling fans not wired to switches, no 3rd bay garage door motor, single hose bib (in the back yard only), abysmal drywall work, caulk completely covered in dust on exterior of home (tons of brown on our white paint), cracks in foundation and driveways, nails/staples sticking up through flooring, missing caulk/sealant, poorly cut/placed siding and trim, of course no rear landscaping or sprinklers... the list goes on. Expect the minimum from CBH. -CBH also just build about 30 multi family units just across our street. They were not open about those going in save for some fine print buried in our disclosures. So that's fun! -We paid absolute PEAK pricing for our shitbox of a home, over $650k with maybe two thousand in incentives. A year later, they're selling our floor plan cheaper with 20k incentives with better finishes on bigger lots. Just really pisses me off that we paid so much to receive so little on their end. Absolute greed from a self proclaimed "local company." Well, thanks for helping out your fellow native Idahoan. CBH is the last builder we wanted to buy from, but was our only option in the peak of the pandemic real estate chaos when we were being outbid on everything else. I will never buy CBH again and advise you stay away as well. read more

Kudos to CBH Home Warranty service. We bought our home about 21 months ago. Little did we know we had a faulty deadbolt lock until my son in law opened our deadbolt with his thumb. Knowing our home was beyond the one year warranty, I decided to call to see if they might fix it. Well....a CBH technician just showed up today and replaced the deadbolt mechanism with a new one, and it is secure. Thank you CBH for standing behind your homes, even, in this isolated case, when it was out of warranty. read more

SO DISAPPOINTED. Bought a house in the winter and was super excited about it. My parents liked the look of it as well and decided to buy in the same neighborhood. After living here for a few months, I realize how cheap the construction of the house is where the paint is chipping easily on the inside. The window sills are cracking after only two months of living here. Aside from the construction, the COMPANY IS AWFUL AND ONLY CARES ABOUT MONEY. We bought a house on the backside of an empty area where the house was advertised as "no neighbors". I saw some construction behind it and asked the head of develop or construction as the lady who did our walk-through stated. She said they were "CBH developers, but she didn't know what was going to be going there." Then I asked about the construction and she said, "it should only be a few more months." At the time the construction wasn't terrible and they maintained a good ratio of quiet and noise. Fast forward a few months: MY HOUSE IS SHAKING LIKE AN EARTHQUAKE EVERY DAY MONDAY-SUNDAY. I WAKE UP TO CONSTRUCTION BEEPING AND OTHER NOISES AND GO TO BED WITH THE SAME NOISES. I also have a newborn in the house who doesn't get a break and cries all day because with the coronavirus we don't have any other place we can escape to. I HAVE CALLED and EMAILED CBH who DIDNT CARE AT ALL. It gets so bad I have to call the police and City of Kuna. Now I am going to have to make a statement at the next town hall meeting just to get a break from constant noise, disturbance, and the ground shaking. ALSO, I am not able to stay at my house I have to go to stores and restaurants to keep my baby from crying from all the noise at the house. DONT BUY A HOUSE FROM THEM... We have had several issues with build quality and have had to pull teeth to get some things fixed. They hired a new lady that reviews these warranties and she denies almost all of them. We had to fight to get someone out to check out our clicking ceiling fan, after arguing back and forth to even get this checked it finally happened. We found out that we had ONE screw holding up our ceiling fan in the living room! Now yet again we have another issue, vent well coverings for the foundation weren't installed and are not up to code and yet again we have to pull teeth. Terrible customer service. read more

Mark Enger was sent out do deal with a bedroom door, after it was replaced with the wrong sized door and not hung correctly during the first warranty claim. Mark was so friendly and knowledgeable from the start, thoroughly explaining the issue and what he was going to do to fix it. Without being asked, Mark offered to walk my wife and I through the interior and exterior of the house, providing tons of tips related to maximizing our AC/Heat usage, properly sealing windows and doors and many other things I was unaware of. He took it upon himself to check all of our doors, and fix issues as he went along, teaching as he went. I don't even know where to start.... Maybe the walk through we had with the Sup. Brett- (who they'll tell you has worked with them for yeaaaars) who couldn't have been more rude and tactless throughout the entire walkthrough- For ex. I had questioned the seam of our Quartz countertop- it was jagged and highly noticeable right next to our sink. He proceeded to tell me there was nothing hey could do about it and he has a seam in his house that they never even notice anymore. (Yeah- No.) finally someone was sent out who didn't do the original work- and fixed it up beautifully! I could go on (trust me I have bullet point list of that walk through- but you know- you probably know what I'm talking about since about 8 of my new neighbors said their experience was almost the same) How about how Corey Barton himself (I met with him personally after hearing this) approved a new neighbors FORT of a FENCE- THAT GOES AGAINST THE CC&RS.... What the what?!?!(This home was a travesty- the original future homeowners backed out- and left a hideous mismatched interior- but already had AN EXISTING FENCE) - talk about needing to get this home Sold..... To the now homeowner, that does what they want. Any explanation from Corey Barton on how this happened..? None. How about how our HOA/Management Co. Was in the process of enforcing our 20ft set back- 1 letter sent out already- a 2nd follow up visit next week-and all of a sudden- POOF- it's out of their hands because COREY BARTON approved it?!? Unbelievable- next we'll see a neighbor go behind CC&Rs protocol (you know- the legal docs that we sign and sign and sign when closing on a home) get approved by COREY BARTON... and will paint their house pink-ehhm I mean Salmon!! CC&Rs are suppose to protect the integrity of this "upscale" neighborhood- guess not... #dowhatTheyWant. #CBHHOMESYOUAREAJOKE Come by CBH Peppermill Estate homes- you CAN'T miss the fort of a fence practically on the sidewalk- watch out though- you CAN'T SEE ONCOMING CARS anymore either because this Fence blocks the view path. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would! I am in complete shock that they have the overall rating they do. Our backyard has been a swamp since it was put in by their landscapers. We have made multiple requests with their service department since May. On May 20th we filed our first formal ticket and between then and June 30th they came out three times to fix it. While this was happening we had commenced with our plans to extend our patios assuming the issue would be resolved by now. When they came out again after the concrete was poured they tried to blame the issue on the fact that we had work done, even though we had photographic proof and tickets filed in their portal that pre-dated our concrete. They had sent people out several times and assured us it was fixed each time yet the issue was never resolved. Finally, we get an email from CBH telling us that we acknowledged the land was grated properly and any further issues would be our responsibility. Mind you, this agreement was signed by our realtor when there was snow on the ground, the grating wasn't visible, and before the front and backyard were put in by CBH. Let me emphasize this work was done by CBH's landscaping team NOT our own landscaper. After conversing with our neighbors we discovered that we are not alone with this exact same issue. Every neighbor we have talked to has said the same about CBH's service, basically, it does not exist. At this point, we have to choose between a dead lawn or a standing water swamp that grows algae and breeds mosquitos. We should not have to choose either one of these options as we paid CBH in full for our home and for the landscaping. I am absolutely appalled that CBH is 100% aware of this issue and that it affects not just one but a majority of the homes in this development and yet they treat us as if we are the ones doing something wrong. To add insult to injury two of our neighbors have had their driveways broken and eroded due to the improper grating under the concrete pours. All we want is to enjoy the backyard that we paid for instead we have a health and safety hazard that according to CBH is our fault. I feel it is my responsibility to spread the word and warn others about the poor quality and lack of service displayed by CBH. read more
