It's hard to resist the smell of bacon and coffee permeating from CBD as you walk by. During the winter they shut the sliding doors which provide a little protection against the aroma but any other time, I just want to pull up a chair and disregard whatever meeting or appointment brought me to Southbank in the first place.
Over the New Year break, I caught up with an old friend for breakfast here. I ordered the mushrooms, haloumi, spinach on ciabatta bread. Yuuuuuum. I love fleshy Portobello mushrooms and these were grilled perfectly with a brushing of olive oil and sprinkled with rosemary.
It took awhile for the food to come out but it was the public holiday and the cafe was packed. My friend didn't want to come here as she thought it would be be expensive being connected to Rydges hotel. We were surprised when the bill came to around $35 for two hearty main meals and coffees. read more
