Guevara's cut the steaks in the morning for our early evening dinner. The meat was absolutely great. I'd checked prices at other meat markets people had suggested. No one suggested Guevara's because they didn't know about it; at least that's my guess. They know about it now. I'll always check with Guevara's first from now on. Great meat; great prices.

BUYER BEWARE No…read morestars if that were an option. A family friend purchased $497 worth of beef ribs from this butcher for our Memorial Day BBQ. He bought them and brought them directly to our house, on ice, to keep in our freezer for my husband to cook this past weekend. Well, upon opening the vacuum seal, there was a smell worse than any fish market. Sometimes when meats are packaged this way, the gas gets trapped and it's stinky upon opening. My husband trimmed the fat, rinsed the meat, and we let it sit in our fridge, hoping the smell would go away. It, unfortunately, did not. We had our neighbors come over and smell the ribs, just to make sure we weren't going crazy. They agreed, the meat was bad. My husband wrapped the meat back up and tossed it in the freezer so it would stop stinking up our house and could be returned. Our friend brought the meat back to the butcher today and they kept the meat, but refused to give him a refund! One package was not even opened, they apparently refused to open it, and I bet they turn around and sell it to someone else. We looked this place up on Google after notifying our friend the meat was bad. Turns out they have a reputation of selling spoiled beef ribs and not refunding their customers. Do your research before buying!

The turkey was delicious- nice and juicy. While I was picking up my turkey, a woman came in and ordered a bone in prime rib roast that was almost 13 pounds; it looked amazing. So all primate is expensive no matter where you get it from even Costco and Sam's. Nothing is cheap these days but taste is something most people would pay a little extra for so this place is well worth it if you are preparing a special dinner.

The kombucha selection was almost overwhelming ans I was excited to try so many different kinds! I'll be back the next time I'm in New Mexico for sure! Pro-tip: the chocolate section is near the cashiers toward the front. They have some amazing artisinal chocolates my personal favorite being the Cartel Chocolate made in ABQ. Don't pass it up!

I think this place is probably more ideal for fresh foods for a meal that day rather than a big grocery shop.

I now understand the "greasy" comment regarding the tacos. Yes, they were a little bit but it wasn't horribly offensive. Also, tacos can simply be a little greasy. It's fine, not a deal breaker. The tacos were very small portions, a bit smaller than the street tacos I'm used to. The carne asada was OK. It had a decent flavor but was like "pow" flavorful or OMGosh I have to have more. It satisfied my craving. The carnitas were also OK. Nothing super exciting. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for food but wouldn't be offended to have it again. I appreciated that it's also a small store which sells a variety of meats with some decent sales. Spices and a small amount of fresh produce. Customer service was pleasant and efficient.
