Really neat historic area. You can get exceptional photos of the bridge if you walk down the street a little. The benches on the porch facing the water is a great place to be. The outside heaters and complimentary blankets will keep you warm. Get the truffle popcorn and the salty dog (their version is the best). read more

What a cool and unique experience! Any reason to be that close to the Golden Gate Bridge, I'm in! The Children's Discovery Museum is also in the area in case you wanna take the kiddos. We were fortunate enough to have a company luncheon here where we watched Chef Tony Adams work his magic. He was the stand up star, super hospitable, informative and entertaining. My coworkers and I first gathered on the second floor for drinks and demonstration lead by Chef Tony, reminding us all that we DONT use enough salt on our meals. As we moved from station to station of different dishes being prepared, I could feel the temptation growing of loading up on Steamed Bao Buns with Seared Shrimp and Togarashi Mayo, Deviled Eggs, Roasted Wild Mushroom Ragout with Crostini, Winter veggie and Onion Pakora w/ Cilantro Chutney and even Raspberry Bars. The crew was super friendly as well. I had the Grilled Salmon for lunch which had the perfect portion and didn't have me needing a nap afterwards. I would highly recommend to anyone who wouldn't be too shy to indulge a bit for a different culinary experience. You can also pop in at the bar. I hear its a favorite spot for cyclists and joggers. read more

Cavallo Point Spa Review... Admitedly, I'm a fan of Cavallo Point. I've stayed there, eaten there and visited the spa for treatments. While I've seriously enjoyed myself at Murray Circle (the pastry chef is amazing!) and had the best night's sleep in any hotel (fog horns didn't bother me, I even left the door open...) I'm writing today about the spa. Now, I've been to more than my share of spas, both here and worldwide. But my experience at the Cavallo Point Spa (Wellness Center) included several all-time highs. All the ammenities are there: serene main lodge, cafe/tea bar, immaculate, luxurious locker rooms (complete with outstanding products, combs, hairbrushes, etc) clothing optional/ gender specific hot tubs. Outside, a truly spectacular soaking/mediatation tub WITH a lift for people with mobility imapirment (really, the first time I've ever seen that. How considerate.) What will have me going back, however, is not the ammenities, fabulous though they were. It was kind, skillful attention of my therapist, Dolores. During the intro to our session, she concientoiusly asked if there were any issues she should be aware of. OK, this is normal procedure. I explained that I'd had a severe neck injury and that, although primarily recovered, I was sensitive about work in the area. Midway through the treatment, and much to my amazement, she reversed the horseshow headrest, wrapped it in hot towels and gently nestled it under my neck. Not only was I touched by her attention to my situation, my eyes rolled back in my head from the sheer bliss of the heat comfortable support. It made a memorable treatment unforgetable and I will always remember it. Other notes: For a zippy tea bar experience, try their hot shot. It's juiced lemon, garlic, oregano and ginger. It's great for your system and (although it sounds a little intense) become strangly additictive. The tea bar is a great place to unwind or settle back into your skin after treatment. Love the spa, love the staff. Couldn't be better! read more

My fiance and I stayed here for his business trip this weekend. The service was better then any other hotel I have been to. When you valet your car you are greeted right away and well taken care of. They have a nice welcome basket of little treats to try. They have someone show you around the hotel and the valet guy will set your suitcase where you like. They really go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. Small cons: in historic room the windows rattle when it is windy. Also the breakfast for in room dining was not well tasting. We alerted the staff about these things hopefully they are fixed. A sweet little plus is their use of eco friendly products. Also the housekeepers coming twice a day to tidy up and leave little treats on your bed. I absolutely loved this place and recommend it to everyone go enjoy! read more

Had a wonderful 3 days at this charming, historic inn. The setting is gorgeous at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge with large property...Stunning views, eucalyptus trees surrounding, beautiful spacious rooms (stayed in a newer building perched high above) kind staff, complimentary wine, lovely breakfast. Loved every minute here. read more

My daughter and I spent two nights here a few weekends ago. Staff was friendly and professional from check in to check out. Very dog friendly Special shout out to Jayne Reichert director of the cooking school. We had signed up for a jam making class which unfortunately was cancelled. Jayne had sent us an email telling us of some of the local foodie happenings in lieu of the class. In an effort to ease our disappoint about the cancelled class Jayne offered ....and we happily accepted ... her kind invitation to go with her to the Marin farmers market for a very special 3 hour chef's tour and tasting . We had a great time!!! We then came back to the resort for a relaxing drink at the outdoor terrace before departing home. Although she was under no obligation . It was very thoughtful of her to extend herself and her time. We really appreciated it. Good times. We will be back!!!! read more

We held our 2017 firm-wide Women's Retreat at Cavallo Point and had a really special time. The property's gorgeous grounds and views truly felt like an escape. The minute you step out of your Uber, It feels like you're far, far from any city (let alone right next to SF). From the beautiful Dartmouth-like grounds; to the pretty, winding walkways; to the in-room fireplaces and the on-site cooking classes; to the warm, quaint and charming evening bar; everything was so thoughtfully designed. Our events team did a phenomenal job working with the hotel to make everything feel seamless for us guests. Highly recommend as a solid staycation spot for any San Franciskers. read more

This is by far my favorite place to visit in the Bay area. We've stayed at Cavallo Point twice now on our 7/4 anniversary. Bring your bikes & ride into Sausalito. The views are spectacular on a clear or foggy day. The discovery museum is near the hotel as well. There is a well equipped gym with good Wifi access, a lovely pool, fire pits, an onsite restaurant & a spa. The historic & modern rooms are equally fabulous, you cant't go wrong either way. Renting a block of the historic rooms in one building would be perfect for a wedding or family reunion. Ali, the concierge saved the day for us twice on our anniversary..she is a class act. She along with everyone else we encountered at the hotel was helpful & friendly. We can't wait for our next visit!!. read more

The fresh open space encompassing this hotel makes you feel rejuvenated. The views looking back over the GG bridge and SF are magical. Only a short drive to charming Sausalito. While I love my time here, I don't think the rooms are worth the price, they are a bit worn and feel tolerable vs extraordinary like one would expect based on the "Wow" impact of the natural grounds. The food is very fresh and modernly delicious. The gift shop and common lobby spaces, including the porches are nostalgic. It's nice for meetings, and getaways. read more

I would return to this place in a heartbeat. The room was amazing, with a beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed, and sun porch. I loved all the Adirondack chairs all over the property - they were perfect to enjoy this quiet, peaceful place. I enjoyed a morning hike to the batteries for a great view of the city and the bridge. The staff was so helpful and friendly. They even drove us to downtown when we missed the shuttle. The pool was very relaxing and warm. I didn't have dinner at Murray Circle but had breakfast there, which was probably the best breakfast I've ever paid for. The Southern breakfast with cheese grits was amazing. We sat on the porch with a perfect view of the bridge. They have blankets if you get cold. I hope to make this a yearly trip. read more

What a lovely way to spend a nice fall afternoon! We were welcomed into the spa waiting area and were greeted with a lovely selection of refreshing beverages. Soft music played and the environment was very Zen. We scheduled a couples massage and were brought upstairs to a very clean and well maintained room. It was warm and cozy inside and our therapist were fantastic! After the massage we headed out to the salt water hot pool and it was delightful! Felt amazing.....after cleaning up in our lock r rooms were headed to the Farley bar for drinks and snacks! Don't pass up the warm pistachios with your custom cocktail! Amazing views, great service and warm atmosphere, we will be back! read more

We chose Cavallo for our wedding venue. The venue itself is beautiful and the sun luckily came out just in time for the wedding. We worked with Cheryl to arrange everything for the wedding, and she helped us work through a million details. Her list of recommended vendors was excellent. She was always very patient with our process. On the day of, we couldn't have been more pleased. What a first class experience. Cheryl went above and beyond to help coordinate, going so far as to accompany our photographer and us for our couple photos. The wait staff was so courteous and helpful, patient with the little babies, offering to help us save the cake in the kitchen, remove our floral decorations, helping us have it stored with the lobby. The valet team was incredibly helpful and friendly as well, driving us back and forth from the hotel lobby to our room to the restaurant building. We felt so well taken care of and service was impeccable throughout. When we finally got back to our room, there was champagne and chocolates waiting for us. The next day we had a couple massage at the spa and indulged in the steam room and hot tub facilities (which are in the separate women's and men's bathrooms). We loved having our wedding at Cavallo and will look forward to coming back many times in the future. read more

The grounds are amazing, it's an old army base thus, lots of land. The upside: Great place for hikes, bike rides and a huge lawn for kids and dogs to run around. This was our second stay, the first one was many years ago, before the newer sections was built. We booked a room in a newer building as it looked like a fabulous view. Not really. Although the building is higher, has more windows and a balcony, the view is blocked by trees. There is no parking near these rooms so, you walk, approximately 100 steps from check in, and the bar and restaurant, or have valet drive you in one of there cute golf cart type transports. Not a problem unless, you arrive back at the compound after valet has closed. Then, you walk, after dark, on a path with lights. No coffee maker in the room, if you want coffee, you walk to the lobby, again approximately 100 steps. There is an expresso machine in the room, with no instructions. Hello! This is in California, most of us drink coffee. Rain shower in the bathroom had minimal water pressure. Anyone wanting a shower with good water pressure would be disappointed. Overall, way overpriced for our needs. When we are back in Sausalito, we will stay in town, less expensive hotels have parking in the same buildings or nearby. I would not stay there again even if I was offered a free room. read more

Just a quick tip: stay in one of the glorious rooms facing the Golden Gate Bridge. It's pure heaven inside and out. Have a drink and dinner at Farley Bar and room service (divine!) the rest of your visit. It's one of my favorite getaways! read more

Cavallo Point is a very special place. I had my 50th birthday "cocktail" party here in October. I asked 6 different employees from reservations to front desk from May to the day I checked in if it was ok to have a gathering of 20 friends from 5-8pm in my $850 suite. Every employee said YES, have fun. Except for the "GM" Brendan who stormed into my event at 7pm, demanding to see the host (me) and aggressively asked, in front of all my friends and family, "What is going on here? You need authorization for this...." I was so caught off guard and said "It's my 50th birthday and I'm having a cocktail party and it ends in 56 minutes". I went onto explain that I asked many times in advance and if he had a problem, he should speak to HIS employees that said it was ok. Brendan's approach was not only so unprofessional, condescending, abrupt and so abrasive, it basically ruined my night. Between the spa day, three of us spending the night, we were over $2600 into this particular Wednesday night at Cavallo Point. Don't you think we deserve a little more respect as paying customers? It wasn't 2am and frankly, it was approved by CV employees. Really frustrating. I wrote Brendan an email the next week explaining my disappointment. He had a very slight apology and said "Reach out to me the next time you want to get away so I can make it up to you." Frankly, another disappointment. I've been in PR and customer service my entire career, and a much better solution would have been: 1. Make an effort to determine what occurred with your staff and where the breakdown in communication lies; 2. Inform me what occurred, as well as what remedies you have implemented, so that I may have some understanding of the schizophrenic behavior on display by Cavallo Point that evening, and faith it will not recur; 3. An immediate gift certificate to entice me to come back! I'm not really in a hurry to go there again and then look up Brendan? I think not. Everyone else working there couldn't have been nicer. But Cavallo Point management should really reconsider who they have as a GM. Brendan is a poor selection to lead such a special establishment. Clearly, I'm not the only patron who thinks this. read more

Splendid stay at Cavallo, I'll definitely be back! I've been raving about this place ever since The staff was friendly and accommodating, excellent service! The room was great with a beautiful view of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge, very picturesque. The restaurant was delicious and also a very cozy yet chic place to chill out and enjoy some morning mist or afternoon sun. The spa was a perfect way to get away, with a tea bar, a meditation pool and many other relaxation remedies. Whoever is in charge here, is doing a spectacular job! read more

Really disappointing night at Farley Bar with two girlfriends. Was very excited to celebrate my retirement using a generous gift card from my team. Showed up 30 mins before our dinner res to sit on the porch with some champagne but were told we would have to drink it out of plastic cups. We joked with the bartender about giving us glasses and we would sneak over there and he so rudely said "don't argue with me!" He ends up charging my gift card for the entire bottle when we only ordered three glasses (which is not even a half bottle) and then says "sorry we will have to send you a refund in the next few days when my manager is back." What the holy hell - no that's not going to work for me. Told him he's going to need to find a solution for his $90 error. He then comes over to our dinner table three separate times with partial solutions saying the card reader doesn't work and this is the best he can do (still no refund). It was beyond absurd and with his last attempted fix where he has doubled the tip I gave him, I took the card and moved on. Our server at dinner with lovely but the bartender soured the whole night. Your staff needs to be overhauled and they need hospitality training, really badly. read more

Every single person I encountered at this resort treated me with such kindness and respect. There is nothing like bad customer service to ruin a good time - but these people are first class. Helpful, accommodating, friendly and warm. Now THAT is what the hospitality industry will need to survive these tough times. Beautiful facilities, gorgeous views, comfy beds! read more

Staying here was a dream come true! The amount of luxury and service here is unparalleled. It's beautiful and unique, a perfect escape. This place is definitely one step ahead in the hospitality industry. And it helps, as well, that they're so environmentally friendly. Their green practices make staying here an even smarter choice. A suggestion -- I used the Foli app at other hotels to read eBooks and digital magazines. I think if they had that here it would go well with the eco-friendly environment. This place was amazing and I can only hope to stay here again. Definitely a vacation that I will be telling all my friends about. read more

As a local, I really really want to love this place. I love the old buildings, and the beautiful renovations they've done - it makes me feel like I'm in a sexy time warp. I've gone a few times for drinks, and I keep trying to delude myself into what I want to believe, but it's not working. The drinks are very expensive: $15 for a martini. I don't mind paying that much, as long as I also get to ENJOY my martini. But the last couple of times I've gone, the patrons have been so far beyond obnoxious, I just can't stand it anymore. If you want a drink outside, they have a nice area with rocking chairs and fire pits. So the last two times I've been there, I've sat outside, admiring the view, and slightly freezing. People bring their dogs and let them off leash to wander around. They seem to forget they have a dog with them, because once they're off leash, they don't pay an ounce of attention to their animal... even when they're un-neutered, walking around with other un-spayed dogs (who doesn't fix their animals these days, common!). Then there's always some large family with the worlds worst children taking up all the chairs. This last time the 4 boys were running around screaming, blowing grass whistles, and shooting birds with rubber bands. Even with (and I counted) 9 people glaring at these children who were making the most horrible high pitched noise with their grass whistle, the parents paid no attention to them at all, never asked their kids to stop, even though they were clearly bothering EVERYONE. After a couple minutes of this, I had to loudly ask them to please stop as they were being rude. The kids then proceeded to attack birds with sling shots, hitting several of them. I, again, had to tell them that was inappropriate and they needed to stop. Where were these kids' parents? Oh, right. They were right there... completely ignoring their children, and everyone else who was trying to have a relaxing time, and enjoy every $1 sip of their $15 martini. Inside the bar is better, less children, but you still have the pleasure of enjoying nearby loud conversations about how stupid poor people are and how awesome their Jag is. Okay, maybe an exaggeration, but you get the point. I'm officially over this place. I was thinking of having my wedding party stay here, but that's not happening now. Adios assholes! read more

The car valet gentleman who greeted us so warmly when we arrived early afternoon of February 10, 2017 gave us a great first impression of this special place. We began our stay hiking on a trail recommended by the front desk staff. Along the way there were many informative local history signs as well as incredible vista views of the bay. Next we went to the spa for amazing massages by Gina - there is no one better. The spa vibe is peaceful and relaxing. Right outside is a lovely area with heated pool and lounge chairs. That night we had dinner at the Murray Circle restaurant. The service (John C) and food (Chef Justin) were top notch. One of the best dining experiences we've had in Marin in 15 years - the eggplant dish out of this world. For my wife's birthday the chef made a special dessert treat taking into account her dietary preferences - very thoughtful and great customer service. We stayed overnight in one of the contemporary rooms with a fabulous view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The layout of the room maximizes both light and views. Had a great night's sleep in the comfortable king size bed. The contemporary black and white prints in these rooms are striking and there is interesting artwork everywhere on the property. The room was pricey but worth it. Breakfast on the cozy restaurant porch looking out at the beautiful views of the surrounding area and the Golden Gate Bridge is a glorious way to start the day. The breakfast servers were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient and the food is quite good. We were pleasantly surprised with the good quality and uniquely designed clothes and gifts in the gift shop. Last but not least the front desk works hard to make sure all your needs are met. Fantastic overall experience. Only disappointment was not having the time to check out all activities available to guests such as yoga, cooking classes, guided hikes, etc. We will be back! read more

Our lunch experience at Cavallo Point started out well enough (we arrived on time and were seated right away), but deteriorated quickly. We had watched the review on CPBA (Check Please Bay Area), where the bouillabaisse had been recommended. When we asked the waiter for it, he told us he had never heard of it ("what is that?" he asked). We settled on parsnip soup (lukewarm), mussels (good), and mac and cheese (tiny portion the consistency of oatmeal.) My companion had one glass of wine and I had a glass of lemonade. We had to ASK for bread (cold) and then for butter. The waiter dropped a load of dirty dishes, spilling foodstuffs and liquids on a couple at an adjacent table: he acted as if he had never "waited" before in his life. The service was marvelously slow. The meal took us more than two hours, much of that time spent waiting. The bill was HUGE. The parking valet took an hour to retrieve my car. (No kidding!) He drove roaring up to where we were waiting and drove the front end of my car into the front end of one of the phalanx of high-end Cavallo Lodge service vehicles parked beside the Lodge. This was a breathtakingly awful experience. We will never again depend on CPBA testimonials. read more

The hook for this hotel is the location but be prepared to pay a significant premium for less than 3-star accommodations. To say the contemporary rooms are long in the tooth is an understatement...which is upsetting at a $600/night price tag. The walls of the rooms are made of tissue paper as the obnoxious family of 5 that stayed in the room above us allowed their kids to jump around until 11pm...and the woke up at 5am to start the gymnastics all over again. For those with 4- and 5-star expectations, look elsewhere as the bridge/city view from the room is special for 30 seconds...after that, you're left with remorse for the $ you paid for that view when the room itself is highly forgettable. Reminded me of restaurant that gouges non-foodies with extremely high prices for sub-par, unimaginative food. Very disappointing! read more

Very disappointed. We came at the end of the day for some appetizers and drinks on the front porch of the restaurant. We showed up and there was an empty table available. When we requested it the lady said there was a 1 hour wait list and not possible. Our only option was to sit inside which was mostly empty. We had my little nephews with us and wanted to be able to watch them while they played on the grass. That would not be possible sitting inside. So we just opted to sit on the grass and not enjoy the restaurant. Well, we sat there for almost 45 minutes and that empty table stayed empty. What happened to that 1 hour wait list??? Really classy. Who knows why they did not want our business. Very poor management. Terrible customer service. No class. Very sad and disappointing. read more

My girlfriend booked us for a night's stay here while we were in town; my name is Murray (the lodge is on Murray Circle) and we thought it would be fun. The aesthetics of the area are very beautiful and our lodging was very nice. During the stay, both me and my partner were well taken care of and had a pleasant time. However, upon the following Sunday of our stay I noticed two temporary authorization charges on my credit card--one that was expected for $250.00 placed on the night we checked in and another unexpected one for $249.00 on the morning we left. I was curious about the second charge, but I shrugged my shoulders and figured they'd both roll off. By that Friday the first one had voided, but the second "temporary" authorization had not been removed. I then called into the front desk and politely explained my situation and was transferred to 'accounting'. My cell-phone dropped the call and I again dialed and politely asked to be transferred again. The same man answered, but instead he asked the name of the reservation, looked up some information, and put me on hold. When he picked up, he claimed to have spoken to a manager and that the authorization would roll off my account that day. I was stoked! Cool! But it's another week and a half later and the "temporary authorization" is still glaring at me from my credit card statement and I'm rather annoyed I was jerked around on the phone. $249.00 isn't a lot of money, but the fact that I was lied to on the phone about my financials is really really irritating. But I won't have to worry about this again because there are plenty of other beautiful, relaxing establishments in the area. read more

We booked this hotel thinking it would be nice for a long valentines weekend, however when we arrived the man at the check in was very rude and said that my card, with which I booked the room a couple of days earlier, was declined even though it the whole amount came out of my account and I had a conformation e mail that stated it was paid in full. He then rolled his eyes and annoyingly said that I had to give him another card so that he could put it on file to make sure - I didn't think he would run it again but he did and the amount for the stay came out of my other account as well - however which was interesting it wasn't the same amount. When I asked him later about it when I saw it came out of my account again he explained that there are different fees however he didn't elaborate on the specific fees or why they differ. I got kind of suspicious at this point especially because when asked to refund one of the charges he made, he rudely denied and stated that I couldn't have been charged twice which I was because he ran both cards - I showed it to him on my accounts and he still refused - I still hope I will get it back! When we finally got to our room, we had no view, even though we requested and payed more for a room with a view but all we saw was a handicap parking spot! Another disappointment was that we had our dogs with us and actually booked this hotel because it was advertised as being very dog friendly, however the room didn't have the dog bed or bowls and dog biscuits in it as it stated it would! When we checked out our bill was $350 more than it should have been- when I asked about it the same guy, again very rudely, snapped at me and said that those are resort fees, which are stated as $25 on their webpage and not $350!!! Their pricing is very misleading and there are many hidden costs they don't tell you upfront, which is very disappointing in a hotel like this. I can't believe a man with that attitude is a manager of a want to be upscale hotel like this! It was a very disappointing stay and it kind of ruined our time in San Francisco- next time we will definitely stay somewhere else!! Safe yourself the headache and book a room somewhere else! The room was definitely not worth the money they are asking for it! read more

This review is long overdue. I stayed at Cavallo Point lodge for 6 days and planned my elopement with them in September 2010. Cavallo Point is a wonderful, quiet lodge full of history and beauty. We stayed in one of the contemporary rooms, which included a fireplace and comfy amenaties. However, we were complexed (we don't live in SF) at why they placed ear plugs near our bed. We thought that they were just ensuring we had a completely restful and quiet sleep throughout our stay...however, the last night we stayed there, the weather had shifted and the fog rolled in and since you are literally right next to the bridge, the fog horns were EXTREMELY LOUD! Ah! No wonder they put ear plugs on the nightstands! ;-) Other than that last night, the entire trip was amazing. The elopement was organized fantastically (very very small and hush hush). We were even given a free bottle of champange and rose petals covered our bed. The entire campus of Cavallo lodge is georgeous. I enjoyed watching local San Fransicians lounging on the grassy knolls around the area with frisbees and picnics. We did get to sample the wonderful cuisine at the Lodge for dinner and brunch on two different occasions. Completely sublime and worth the trip out there if you are staying at another hotel or a local yourself. The wine list is amazing and the food is abit pricey but worth the money. I suggest brunch and grabing a table outside on the porch/veranda. read more

Even though its just right over the bridge, this place seems like a world away and is truly a hidden gem. No need to spend money on flights, and you can have a wonderful vacation practically in your own backyard. This is a place that I will definitely return to time and again, and looking forward to introducing friends and family for our next trip together. I'm going to be lazy, and instead of writing reviews for each part of the hotel just write it all here. We had the ultimate weekend and enjoyed every facet of the hotel, so read on if you want the details. The hotel -- Great in that its dog friendly, with beautiful views of the GGB and wonderful places to hike. We stayed in the contemporary room, and was surprised to learn that its totally off the grid, and supplied all the energy via the solar panels on top. Nice products, great bath/shower, comfortable bed, spacious room and awesome views. They had a dog bed/bowls in the room, and our own patio so that we can hang out and watch the sunset with the pooch. We loved the nice sitting area in front of the fireplace too, and was great place to snuggle and catch up. Only downside -- when we checked in, they wrote down the wrong room number and we went into an already occupied room. A quick walkie talkie call and then we moved on to the "right" room just downstairs. Also, mini fridge didn't have anything other than a brita. Next time, will come prepared to stock up the fridge with drinks and picnic items to enjoy in the beautiful outdoors. Room service -- this was the worst part of the hotel (and the reason it lost a star). We ordered breakfast, and the food came ice cold; nothing grosser than icy poached eggs (that tasted way too much of vinegar). They travel in these insulated golf carts, but still given how far it was from the kitchen, was cold by the time we got it. They also got the order wrong. So we called and ask for it again. 30 minutes later, they send another order, lukewarm this time, but still without the promised biscuits and instead with a chocolate muffin. The restaurant -- food was great and very reasonably priced. We ordered the 4 course tasting menu, and was only around $60. I believe you can get an 8 course meal for about $80, and with either add a little bit more for the wine pairings. Can't complain about anything here. Food was excellent, presentation was nice, service was great. Make sure you order the chocolate hazelnut torte for dessert -- I could have licked my plate it was so good. The spa -- probably the BEST spa I've ever been to. A little more pricey than other spas, but not outrageous. However, considering the fabulous ambiance and ability to use the facilities all day, well worth every penny. Loved the fire pits and coed thermal pool that they had outside. So rare to find a spa that allows my hubby and I to enjoy together. In the respective mens/womens areas, also had both saunas and jacuzzi's. The women's room was also really well stocked with toiletries. Last but not least, the cooking school. Well worth every penny at $125pp as you'd pay that much anyways for the meal and wine pairings -- plus if you sign up for cooking classes, your rooms are at a discounted rate! The class sizes are reasonably sized (16 for our group), so you get a nice opportunity to mix and mingle with the other guests. The chef instructors are talented and patient, and provide excellent explanations that make the class fun as well. Food was delicious -- a little complicated for most every day meals -- but I'd be willing to try some of them again at home. All in - a wonderful weekend. We spent $1300 for two nights, 2 spa treatments + tip for each of us, cooking classes, room service for breakfast, and dinner at the restaurant. A lot of money to blow on a weekend, but not outrageous as this was a better "vacation" than many I've had to fly away to. read more

Cavallo Point is a beautiful escape from the city! So close, yet you feel as though you are in another world. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco skyline are breathtaking. The food is fantastic. As this new spot is making its mark on the Bay Area I only see it getting better and better. I encourage everyone to give this spot a visit before the secret is out and it will be impossible to book! read more

This is my favorite place to walk to after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge! They have a wide patio, heated, with blankets, where you can sip excellent wine and watch the sunset or the fog roll in, depending on the day. Beautiful views, quiet, delicious mussels. read more

this place is seriously beautiful. we stayed here over the weekend, and it was amazing. the facilities are nice, and the views are spectacular. there are trials all around the property for you to hike up and get even better views of the golden gate, sf, and the east bay and marin. we stayed in the contemporary room, and the rooms were simply furnished but nice. there was also a fireplace in the room, which was cool. it's not cheap here, but if you want to get away for the weekend w/o going very far at all, this is a nice place to go. read more
