**Hotel only review. Read before booking. We booked a two night stay and by 3am I had already decided I was checking out as soon as I woke up.** *The worst part is this was our 17 year anniversary trip and I had gone back and forth from this hotel to the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. I wanted to try something new and this hotel had a strong Yelp rating. I now see a lot of the stars are for the restaurant and bar, not the hotel.* I am writing this review to help others be better informed when deciding on staying at this hotel. I hope to give information that I didn't have because the hotel doesn't offer it. When you book this hotel you are solely paying for the view. It's definitely an amazing view, a five star view. However, everything else on this property (apart from the restaurant which I didn't use so therefore I cannot rate) is at a two to three star hotel value, far from a $625 a night value. The main source of disappoint with this hotel was the lack A/C in any of the rooms. I feel like this should be on the website. A/C is a basic amenity for any hotel that considers itself a luxury property. If you don't provide this to your guests, you should inform them in advance. I'm not complaining about the heat. The weather was beautiful and the temperature was bearable. However, to maintain that level of temperature comfort we had to sleep with the windows open which resulted in a very restless night. I woke up at least once every hour due to some noise going on outside. First it was one car alarm, then it was another car alarm. Then it was some loud popping (like fireworks) that went on at 1am for an hour. Then it was the little cars that the employees drive around, then at 5:30 in the morning it was barking dogs. The other source of disappoint with this hotel was the beds; the horrible, uncomfortable beds. Defiantly not on par with the other luxury resort hotel that I've stayed at. The most basic request I have of any hotel, is a good night sleep. If they can't provide that, especially at a $625 a night hotel, what am I paying for? (Side note- not every room has an amazing view which then means you are just paying for an incredibly crappy room). I'm not even going to go on about the super tiny pool and the horrible service I received from the receptionists at the spa, or how the front desk isn't as informed as they should be. I've already wasted too much time and money on this place. The employees at the mercantile and valet are incredibly nice. The cooking school upstairs is fabulous. But it's all just sparkle to distract you from the fact that this hotel is three stars at best. read more

Not sure who is more incompetent valet or the management. They let someone (who was not on valet) drive a brand new car. This person, who arguably should not even have a license, managed to scrape the wheels against a curb while PARKING. This was immediately escalated to management who is now claiming this damage was done prior to handing over the keys. This is not only a lie but gives you insight into how they run their business/how incompetent management is. I didn't realize lying, avoiding responsibility, and destroying property was one of the pillars of running a business. If you plan on holding a wedding here, I'd say avoid it to save your guests the pain of having to deal with these people. In fact, just avoid this plan like the plague or COVID read more

The location is gorgeous and the rooms are perfect. The room was clean, cozy, and well equipped with everything we needed. The view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the room was spectacular and I have a new appreciation for it. This is a pet friendly lodging and my pup loved it. They provide a dog bed & bowls upon request, and when you check in they give your pup a gift bag full of local treats, etc. The staff were very friendly from the reservations, to check in, to check out. My husband and I loved our stay here! read more

I should've just talk to the waiter about this. However I'm now realizing the salad I had was really, really disappointing. I ordered the summer tomato seasonal salad with chicken. The most horrendously lame part about the salad was the pre bagged semi wilted spring mix they used for greens. Then they just dollop some premade Italian vinaigrette dressing on top the salad, which was not even mixed. The chicken actually was really, really good. But their ability to make a basic salad is ridiculously low, low bar. Come on, lead person in the kitchen get your act together. This place comes across as a four star resort. Burger had before is actually OK. The view is five stars, the blind pig IPA from Russian River brewing, is six stars. But the kitchen is lackluster in certain departments. I hope they will correct this at some point because I really like this place and the location. Tip to the chef, just order some baby lettuce heads and actually prep the lettuce wash the lettuce and you have a really amazing salad. Do not buy Trader Joe's level spring mix and serve it in a four star resort. Thank you for taking my yelp skills out of hibernation. Love you. read more

Wonderful! My wife surprised me with an anniversary visit. Rick, the concierge, is impeccably dressed and knows how to take care of his guests. Luis brought us to our suite is a VIP golf cart and showed us around the paradise. A shout out to the woman who tried to sneak 23 friends into her suite - honey, just no! I plan on returning early and often. A tip for those planning a visit - think about midweek to avoid the parents who insist on bringing along their little trolls. Also, guys, c'mon let's lose the ball caps, backpacks, and Fanny packs - and while you're at it, the flips flops. Isn't it easier to put on a pair of loafers as flip flops? read more

A destination for the incredible views. Beyond that, it's overrated. Stay started out with a push to upgrade our confirmed room. Not a huge deal, but not indicative of a high end resort. Complimentary coffee and pastries offered 7-10 AM is nice, but self serve would be better. As is, must ask the staff who would otherwise check you in for a cup of coffee. Stayed in a "new" building, i.e. not one of the original Army post buildings. A nice enough room, but their direction to open the windows and a door to cool it down was inadequate. In spite of its Bay Area location, an upscale resort needs a/c. Dining was the big disappointment. Booked their fine dining Murray Circle restaurant only to learn upon arrival that it was closed for renovation and, without notification had been changed to the Farley Bar casual restaurant. As of this writing, August 12th, their website shows Murray Circle as open and taking reservations with Farley Bar closed for renovations. Which is it? Be careful when ordering. If the price isn't printed, don't order it! Literally, confirm the price before okaying the order. Overall an okay experience. Not at all worth the price. Definitely not upscale. read more

So sad. This beautiful location has gone downhill. There is so much mismanagement and error . The historical rooms are shabby and need upgrades. Guest services were unresponsive when other guests played music until late when we wanted to sleep . Very disappointing. They also never picked up our friends from SFO as was reserved :-( read more

Look, it's beautiful. I've stayed here twice. The first time was amazing. The second time, not so much. When I arrived at 3:55 for a 4:00 check-in, I was told that my room wasn't ready. Cool, no problem. Fast forward to 4:40. Room is finally ready. The woman at the desk did not seem particularly concerned, but did offer a $50 credit at the restaurant. We got to the room and found a very large, very wet spot on the rug. Given that it's a pet friendly hotel, I was somewhat concerned that it was dog urine. Again, not the end of the world. We called for room service around 8:00 and were told that it would be an hour and a half wait. Kind of annoying. In the morning, the dogs in the room next barked from around 8:30 until we checked out at noon. None of these things separately are the end of the world, but if you're paying over $500 a night for a room, you expect better accommodations. We likely won't return. read more

This review is for the rooms and lodge only and not the food (not that the food was not good but I really want to praise the accommodations!) Our trip to Cavallo Point was a very big deal for Ruggles. First, he was invited to come - this would be his very first hotel stay with me. Next, he would be asked to stay in the beautiful room by himself for a few hours while I went to dinner. He passed the test with flying colors and was waiting patiently for me when I got back. Then, he got rewarded with a nice long walk around the grassy, beautifully manicured grounds. We both loved the insane view of the Golden Gate Bridge on our walk! Good boy Ruggles!!! The room was gorgeous with a great sitting area, a large flat-screen tv, a super comfy bed, and a cool bathroom. I'm not sure I'd usually pay so much to stay so close to home but it was a fun little adventure! read more

HISTORICAL. My home away from home. This resort, originally Ft. Baker, had been converted to to one of the most beautiful places to visits whether for breakfast on the front porch. Lunch at Farleys Bar. Or dinner, at Murray Circle. Or a weekend at the resort studying in one of the generals houses, or the main lodge. Or take a cooking class. A walk around the property. The views are some of he's best in Marin. Located right on the water, your standing right near to to the Golden Gate Bridge. The property is large so so many places to explore the different views, and beauty. I could go on, and in. It is definitely in my top 10 favorite resorts in the world. Add them to your list folks.you'll be happy you did. A+ on all fronts. read more

I've stayed here 3 times. The rooms are beautiful. The views are fantastic and the property is natural, casual, and quiet. There's a lot of green space and open areas. The restaurant is outstanding, and all of the little touches throughout make Cavallo Point a joy to visit. The retail rates are really high ($400-$900 per night), but each time I've stayed here I've been able to get a deal in the $320-$420 range. This usually includes 2 free drinks and free breakfast (real breakfast in the restaurant or delivered to your room). Last time I stayed they included a $75 breakfast which was delicious and more than my friend and I could possibly eat! They offer free valet parking and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The spa is gorgeous and very unique, it's very very expensive, but then again this is an expensive place and they deliver value in every service. This is one of my favorite places to stay. It's pretty far off from most things and can be very tricky to find. You'll definitely need gps! Also, cell reception is terrible with AT&T but Verizon works great. Keep in mind, this resort brings natural beauty and green / modern design together in a very unique and comfortable setting. However, this is not a pretentious luxury resort. It's a Mercedes / BMW not a Bentley. Cavallo is very comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, and offers a lot of nice features. However, if you're a pretentious, snobby, overly picky, and materialistic person (such as the Newport Beach gentleman with the ridiculous 2 star review) then you might want to stay somewhere else, like back home in crowded, dirty, pretentious, insecure, flashy Newport Beach. Sausalito and Northern CA are appreciated for their quiet beauty and preservation. Be grateful that a unique property such as this is available and nested in such a beautiful natural setting. Oh by the way there is a 14% tax / fee which goes to the state park / land find where the resort is located. read more

26-August, Sunday: I needed to contemplate with my eyes closed to be able to absorb the full richness of calm solitude I've yet been able to find living in San Francisco until I ended up here one bright Sunday afternoon. And while being captivated by the pungent fragrance of my light Banshee 11' Pinot Noir, the fleshy sweet oysters, and the delectably savory mussels that had the slightest hint of green curry. I fell solemn to the sureness of relaxation while watching the white sails go by along the water during the induction of the World's Cup trials. Simply magnificent. read more

This is a wonderful place to stay, visit and have a few drinks or sight see around. The staff are always on point, friendly and very helpful. Today, while sitting on the veranda in their comfortable Adirondack chairs having a picnic lunch, the manager overheard us mention that the sandwich shop (not their store) that we ordered from forgot to include our cookies. She dropped some yummy chocolate chip and filled cookies off to us no charge. That is the kind of service you can expect if you stay here or visit. I always make it a point to shop in their store and pick up some amazing toys for the kids in our family or clothes since the staff here are so welcoming to our group. read more

Cavallo Point is a well-known and respectable resort-like hotel in Sausalito. Everyone in the city knows that it's the best home-away-from-home luxury spot from the city. However, for the cost, I had a good stay, but I would definitely have to think twice about returning and spending this kind of money to stay again. The Spa at Cavallo Point and the dining was top notch, but the rooms were certainly not worth $500/night. We stayed in room 105 and while we enjoyed the corner building, I was a bit disappointed with the discomfort of the beds. Either the mattress was damaged by a really overweight person, or the mattress was extremely outdated- it essentially felt like I would "sink" into the bed and my back was in pain for both nights that we were there. I couldn't help but compare this to Carmel Valley Ranch which costs the same and the rooms were night and day in comparison. We had a fireplace, amazing welcome goodies and sparkling wine in the room, a comfy couch and ample space at Carmel Valley Ranch. We didn't have any of these perks at Cavallo Point. The Cavallo point room was pretty standard and while there were some nice touches like lavender-scented shampoos and soaps, a nespresso machine, comfy bathrobes and a contemporary-feel to the room, it just was not a $500/night experience. Personally would not drop more than $350/night for that room. I did hear the new rooms at the top of the hill were nice though but they were booked out. Regardless, we enjoyed other parts of the hotel like the spa, dining in, and the nice views of the Golden Gate bridge.I enjoyed the Himalayan Sea salt massage for 60-minutes at $180 so much though that I think maybe next time I will just do a half-day trip at the spa! read more

Really nice facilities in an amazing one of a kind location. They do a really nice job of making it modern and updated, but keeping the older historical charm. The location and view is amazing and the service was also quite good. We were in one of the historic suites around the central square and it was nicely appointed 2 bedroom with a living room. A lot of nice space to spread out for a family of 4. Love the Adirondack chairs in the front facing SF as well. read more

We've been here twice, first when it just opened when the facilities were limited, and recently to celebrate our 3rd anniversary with their "Ultimate Date Night" package. Located in the outskirts of Sausalito at the historical Fort Baker, the converted military post has a number of beautiful buildings reminiscent of colonial times and a touch of "Gone With the Wind", set against the backdrop of the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. Guests have the choice of "historical" and "contemporary" rooms. The historical rooms are set in converted officer residences with beautiful tin-plated ceilings painted in white, fireplaces, and porches complete with rocking chairs to enjoy the view. The contemporary rooms are a little farther up the hill in tan two-story buildings. All rooms have luxurious beds with organic cotton sheeting and feature local products like Bonny Doon soap, Numi teabags and Clover creamer. Free amenities on-site include use of the spa and gym. The spa is decorated in beautiful warm earth and fire tones that remind me a little of "Dollhouse". They have separate areas for men and women to hot tub, shower, and sauna, and a common area to lounge and swim in the outdoor heated pool. The gym is two doors down from the spa with a number of cardio machines, exercise balls, and free weights. The cardio machines have individual flat-screen TVs as part of the front panel. Numerous free perks include morning yoga in the converted chapel, hikes led under the Golden Gate, and tours around the premises that were amazingly insightful into the history and effort it took to convert these old buildings into the beautiful luxury hotel buildings they are now. Valet parking is also free. If you choose to stay here, take the extra effort to book a reservation for a meal at "Murray Circle" or stop by for lighter eats and drinks at "Farley Bar". Apparently they were aware we had concurrently booked both hotel and dinner reservation as part of the "ultimate date night" package. When we arrived we were treated like VIPs and presented with a corner booth all to ourselves and felt like we were given extra attention throughout the night. Absolutely unforgettable weekend full of morning yoga, spa lounging, warm organic cotton bedding snuggling, Golden Gate gazing, tasting menu and cheezy grit gorging, and a newfound appreciation for all the thought that goes into historical preservation. If I was uber wealthy I'd just live here and be done with it. read more

I have had the pleasure of enjoying Murray circle Bar and restaurant on several occasions over the last 4 years. I am a big fan of the beautifully restored building and the charm of the location. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a cocktail on the patio out by the fire pit or have a leisurely meal overlooking the expansive scenery featuring the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a beautiful setting and they have a good wine list and bar, but there are so many issues with the service and the food. You pay for the location. The food is good, not delicate. We've eaten dinner and breakfast on the patio on many occasions. This time we wanted the same service and quality of food. We arrived Saturday early morning. I ordered eggs benedict at 9 a.m. and was served Eggs Florentine. It was named eggs benedict on the menu. Their benedict on this day had spinach, served on a biscuit with Bearnaise sauce. It was served with overly dressed salad. It was awful! The quiche my guest ordered seemed to be reheated with the crust hard as a rock. The omelette my other friend ordered was rubbery. I felt terrible! We sat inside near a cozy fireplace but the pillows and window sills were dusty. It's a tourist location. It's not particular clean here but beautiful. I love to pay for service, good wine and good food. Every time I come here there is some disappointment from no hot water, to wrong orders to no wheel chair to food cooked incorrect. This is not a fine dining experience but a tourist location. It's a two star meal but 4 star view. read more

Michael and I had our 3rd date at Cavallo Point, July 4th weekend. It was completely magical watching the fireworks display out on the grassy field. We decided to go there directly after our wedding night ceremony and reception, May 17, 2014. We were so thrilled with the romance of that very hotel and the phenomenal aroma that that place possesses. We had a superb view of the bridge from our room and the nicest shower anyone could ask for after a long day. The next morning we had the sweetest breakfast in bed. Cavallo Point made us feel like royalty. It's a top notch hotel that does not disappoint. read more

I really wanted to love this place.. but was not impressed. The area that the restaurant sits on is beautiful with amazing views of SF. We went as a family of 10 and celebrated my mom's birthday. The scenery doesn't get much better than Cavallo Point. We had an amazing view of the bridge and San Francisco from our room, and there are lots of nice areas for walks (and even more amazing views) around the hotel. The rooms are cozy - they aren't super premium but they are nice. For the amount of stuff in the room (large bay window/sitting area, fireplace, "mini-bar" type of thing), the rooms can feel a bit small. The patio is nice, though we didn't use it much because the patio furniture isn't particularly comfortable (a couple of iron chairs), but the bay window/sitting area was a great spot for us to enjoy room service while taking in the views. Even though it's so close to San Francisco, when you're there, it feels like you're worlds away. read more

I recently stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon. it was the best decision we made to come here for a sunny getaway from NY. Everything was exceptional. The customer service/check-in process with Kelly at reception was a pure delight, starting our stay off on the right foot. Everyone was very helpful, the concierge was timely with room deliveries. The staff at the car rental and electric bike rentals always greeted us with a smile and casual conversation. I truly loved staying here and hope to be back very soon. We were supposed to leave on the 27th, we are now leaving today, we loved it that much! Thank you, Cavallo for a wonderful honeymoon! read more

Brought my wife to this surprise destination for her 50th Birthday. Two nights in a contemporary suite with a Golden Gate Bridge view. Huge room with plenty of seating and storage place. Huge bathroom with a cool shower and tub. AMAZING VIEW out our window. Couldn't stop looking at that spectacular bridge. Complimentary wine in the lobby each evening from 4 to 6 PM. Outdoor fire pits for sitting. Great place onsite for drinks at Farley Bar. We had a couple glasses as we enjoyed the view from some of the many property decks. The older, historical Fort Baker buildings form a half circle around the massive lawn. We walked around the property to the fitness center and checked out the spa/pool. For dinner we ate at the Murray Circle restaurant and opted for the wine pairing dinner. Our server, Erin, could not have been more friendly. The chefs came out to explain many of the seven courses throughout dinner, and the fabulous wines perfectly chosen for each plate. Started with yellow fin tuna tar tare, then seared scallops, followed by house made porcini tagliatelle. Maine course was herb basted prime new york with broccoli di ciccio, potato rosti, poached partridge egg, bearnaise. All amazing. Then camefourme d'ambert, mango orange sorbet, and finally, chocolate cinnamon tart. The wines throughout dinner were offerings from Green Valley, Chablis, France, Santa Cruz, a fantastic sangiovese from Tuscany, Italy, an heirloom apple cider from Normandy France, and a Tawny Port. A wonderful, three hour, experience rather than just a meal. We went into Sausalito the next day for lunch and explored the quaint shops in that friendly town. The second night we went to a cooking class. I actually reserved our spots weeks in advance. The cooking school kitchen on the property was amazing. Our task: four amazing lasagne! Our wonderful instructor, Chef Viola Buitoni, from the Umbria region of Italy, was very friendly and a delightful instructor. There were 18 in our class, and we all participated. We made: 1. Meaty Lasagna Bolognese made with fresh spinach pasta, Béchamel sauce, and mozzarella cheese. 2. Fish and mussel lasagna, saffron sauce made with egg pasta embedded with fresh parsley. 3. Sautéed mushroom lasagna made with fresh chestnut flour pasta in Béchamel sauce. 4. Vegetable Lasagne with sautéed cabbage, leek, and potatoes made with fresh buckwheat pasta, Béchamel sauce, and sage butter, and soft cheese. We got to enjoy ample portions of each with some nice Italian wine. Fun time! Yum! The next morning, before we checked out of our room, we walked 0.7 miles to the Golden Gate Bridge. Nice walk with spectacular views from many up close angles. We walked to center of the bridge to take a bunch of photos. Great day, and a great way to end our memorable stay at Cavollo Point. I was nervous about staying at a hotel/lodge during corona times but I really enjoyed it. I stayed two nights in a King Historic Deluxe with my dog. Corona precautions: - they are not operating at full guest capacity and do not have daily house keeping - I do with they told us upfront about the housekeeping during check in - they require guests in the lobby and restaurant to enter with masks - they said over the phone that they had between 24-48 hours gaps between each guest stay in a room - housekeeping is cleaning with sanitizer and masks on Cleanliness: - I was freaked out about some other reviews of spiders in their room so I did a pretty thorough sweep. It was safe. - everything was clean (no dust, no cob webs) but I think they could consider changing out the carpet or deep cleaning it Pet treatment: - we ordered the pet package and their pet welcome bag is BALLER - there's jerky, freeze dried treats, and even a bully stick. They were so thoughtful and had two hypoallergenic doggy wash samples, which is so practical because the dogs go nuts on the grounds and probably get pretty dirty - to be clear this $150 pet package is required for any dog that stays and is their way of marketing an otherwise unattractive required fee. I didn't mind it. - The dog bed was for a very large dog which my dog didn't mind so it was perfect. They also had a water and food bowl ready. I saw many dogs sitting on the outside porches too - so cute and idyllic - I saw dogs on the grass everyday and on the hikes as well and they were mostly on leash esp in the lobby and restaurant area. Guests here had really good dog etiquette King Historic Deluxe: - the deluxe has a charming bathroom which was my favorite area because the tub is extra wide - the closet is stocked with slippers and towels - I think that the deluxe was the right choice for us since I feel a regular room might have been small, especially with a dog - The historic rooms have much better parking - you can park right outside your room/suite whereas I think the contemporary ones have a bit of a hike from parking to your room - the room didn't really have too good of a vantage point of the bridge (I think the contemporary ones would as they are higher up in elevation) - the furniture was all real wood and each room had wireless chargers and a google home which - not going to lie - is amazing - make no mistake, these rooms are "historic" - like they had an outdated color scheme, stained carpet, a fan and no AC, etc. I knew this going in so don't dock them for it Staff - they were just excellent. we had to cancel our first booking due to the air quality from the fires but they were so accommodating - all the grounds staff, restaurant staff, lobby staff were very kind - we were greeted with a glass of wine of our choice and breakfast pastries and coffee was offered complimentary each morning in the lobby - they also had outdoor yoga, spa reservations open, a guide tour of Fort Baker, and maps of the grounds for suggested hiking and viewpoints - most other hotels I looked at had so many amenities closed The grounds: - Love love love love love - families picnicked out here, dogs played fetch, there are picnic tables and well-kept arm chairs/ rock chairs everywhere for sitting outside with a drink - right behind the lodge is a 1 hour hike with a fantastic view of the bridge - you can see the bridge from the grounds and it's such a nice place to walk after a meal or soak in some sun - the location is close to many vantage points of the Bridge and hikes - Hawk Hill, Battery Spencer, Vista Point, Black Sands Beach - and it only takes 15 mins to drive to the city for dinner Points Lost: **Disclaimer: I was under the impression this was a luxurious lodge - I was expecting some special touches and special attention (1) It was our anniversary stay and I expected maybe a bottle of cheap champagne or a small box of chocolates on the table but they didn't do much except wish us a happy stay for our anniversary (2) On the first night there was this trilling alarm at 4am and I called the front desk. There was some kind of internet issue that was affecting all the rooms which they apologized for. I felt like they could have sent something to the rooms as an apology the next morning but they didn't and I really didn't sleep well that night. (3) I knew it would be an expensive stay. However, when I checked out I was surprised to not only find resort fees (fair, they had many amenities opened compared to the Ritz at Half Moon Bay) as well as national park fees and eco-something fees. It was a whopping $1500+ for a two night stay in a deluxe room (on a 15% corporate discount btw) with a dog read more

When I called six weeks ahead of time to make a room reservation for New Year's Eve, I specifically asked if my husband and I would be able to see the fireworks display near the Ferry Building from our room. I was told that if the weather permitted, we would. After check in, we carefully made our way to our room across the loose shale parking lot, using our phones as flashlights as the parking lot was not lit. When we arrived in our room we were greeted with THE MOST GLORIOUS view of... The Golden Gate Bridge (not the Ferry Building). When I tried to open the blinds on the magnificent floor to ceiling windows, only two of the three blinds would open completely. When I tried to use the mirror above the bathroom sink, only half of the lights worked. The next morning, I went to the front desk and explained that we were disappointed that we could not see the previous evening's fireworks display. I was told "I don't know who would have told you that you could see it, there are no rooms on the property with a view of that part of the city." I also mentioned the parking lot, blinds and lighting issues. I was asked if I wanted an engineer sent to the room. I said "No, as we are checking out." I was then handed my receipt for $824 for one night and was told "We hope you enjoyed your stay." There were A LOT of amazing things about this place, however, overall, it was a disappointing stay. I think I would have been satisfied with a simple acknowledgement of my disappoint and a polite apology. read more

Laid back luxury Cavallo Point Resort is laid back luxury without compromising service. This property is truly a delightful experience. An amazing property with fantastic views of San Francisco and more. This former coast guard station is nestled by the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge about a 10-15 minute drive from Sausalito. There are two main types of rooms...the traditional rooms and the contemporary rooms. I can only speak to the contemporary rooms as we had a King Junior Suite overlooking the bridge. Nicely appointed with all renewable furnishings, a patio or balcony, ours had a fireplace and a very comfortable bed. From 4-6 pm, there is complementary wine and cheese tasting. Nice place to hang out and mingle with the other guests. While we were here, they had a bbq with a variety of picnic foods. As for food, besides room service, there is Farleys, more of the light fare and Murray's, a casually elegant restaurant. To get around the property you can stroll or dial zero, and a golf cart will tote you anywhere on the property. As for service, it is impeccable. Need ice ( or anything for that matter), just ring them up and some will deliver it to you is no time at all. Concierge service is top notch and very helpful. Need a cab, restaurant recommendation or the like in Sausalito, just ring them and they will arrange it for you. As for some of the other reviews complaining of fog horns, "spotty housecleaning", poor bell service and the like, we didn't experience anything of the like. Actually, the exact opposite. One comment, for those who are not from an active seaway near a bridge and the coast, there's fog and fog horns. The hotel does supply ear plugs in the nightstand. That sound is a function of the environment and out of the control of the resort. We did use the meditation pool at the spa, available to all guests at no charge. It was really relaxing after a day of biking and hiking. Murray's circle dinner was phenomenal. We started with gnocchi; burrata cheese salad etc. Main courses where pork tenderloin and New York steak. Both were done to perfection. Many thanks to Michael, Debbie and others for making the dining experience memorable. All in all, this is one of the most delightful properties we have stayed. Hope you enjoy it as well. read more

This place is truly magical. It's hard to know where to begin when talking about this special special place. Every building, facility, room is so exquisite. The finishes, details, and colors feel rich and opulent. Yet somehow rustic at the same time. I don't mean rustic like a cabin, i mean rustic like earthy, out of civilization yet still smack dab in the middle of the most beautiful part of the Bay Area. The staff! Wow the staff!!! Wonderful, sweet, kind, attractive, engaging, and happy staff. I recently went for an overnight for my birthday. I honestly spent one night and two days yet felt like I had been out of town for a week. The service was impeccable. En Point. From the In Room Dining, to the housekeeping and especially the staff at front desk and reception. What astute professionals they have working there. I must be getting older, because they all seem so young yet super impressive with their convivial treatment of clients, their knowledge of the property, and there inbounding willingness to go out of their way to care for every need. The rooms and views are gorgeous and clean clean clean, but it's the people working here that make this place out of this world. It often makes me feel like Baby in Dirty Dancing, a familiar place to vacation but where it feels you've gone back in time and known these people all your life. So so so special. read more

For the price and reputation, this place really underwhelmed us. A quick list of what worked and didn't: - the views are stunning. That is the USP of this place by far. - the valet guys were super nice and helpful. They gave us a golf cart ride to the discovery museum. Very lovely people. - the modern/renovated rooms were super underwhelming. Bathroom was not dirty but just worn out looking. The fixtures were corroding, the carpet was ugly brown motel carpet that looked dirty, the room has zero view. - the lobby attendants were either nice enough or rude. I don't understand the attitude problem these people had when we asked for basic things. - the restaurant pricing is a joke. Everything is 2x a normal restaurant price ($25 for eggs) and they add a culinary fee and 20% tip to every bill. The food was good but we felt cheated. - the spa facilities are TERRIBLE. Guests are allowed to used the sauna, pool, hot tub even without a treatment, which is a nice perk. Treatments were booked so I decided to unwind by using facilities. What a joke this was. The women's hot tub looks like it hasn't been retiled or regrouted since 1980. The area it's in is so grubby with a dead plant. The locker area has disgusting carpet and dirty showers. No snacks or tea to enjoy, just lemon water with hard water stained plastic glasses. The sauna was ok, the door would not shut all the way though. I left after 20 mins feeling deeply disappointed. - the lobby said they have a wine reception around 430. we walked in and there was nothing. You have to ask the reception for a glass and they'll pour you a non descript white or red. No spread or presentation. Very odd!! Overall, skip this place. There are better spa hotels a bit further up in Sonoma and Napa. read more

Ok I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. I really really wanted to. I heard many good things about this place. I couldn't, however. Too many things about this place that went wrong. First off let me start by saying I brought my massage therapist here as a birthday present. I got us rooms right next to eachother. The rooms had incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge! Beautiful big windows! A fireplace! And sort of contemporary decor which I love. The only problem is that whoever designed the interior was obviously trying to go for modern contemporary but ended up looking a little bit to 70's-ish for my taste. This probably is because the buildings were likely built in the 70s and they could only do so much to make the rooms look modern. Either way it was still a pleasant room not up to par with rooms and suites that I normally choose but I'll say it again the views were spectacular. (FYI not all rooms have these views you have to get a certain suite to get these views) As far as the grounds, definitely lacking in curb appeal. Looks like they weren't really trying with the landscaping. Not sure what that was all about. Another thing to note is that the parking situation is less than desirable also. They do valet parking which I chose, but they I believe expect most people to park their own cars once they find out what room they are in. Our suites were up high for the views so my car they had parked it at the bottom so I would've had to trek up and down the hill to get to my car. They offer staff to shuttle you around in a golf cart but every time we ordered one it seems it took them at least 20 minutes to get to us. All just very inconvenient. We had an appointment at the spa and we had called 30 minutes before appointment to have somebody come take us down to the spa and by the time we got there it was basically time for our appointments that had taken them that long. Pretty frustrating. The spa was pleasant enough I will do another review on the page for that separately. Now here is where it gets a little more dicey. After our massages we decided to go to the main restaurant on the property. I had checked online to see if they had reservations available and they did they had several available after 7:30 PM. so My massage therapist and I decided to go ahead and just walk down to the restaurant for dinner. As soon as we walked in The hostess completely ignored us. I finally said excuse me can we please be seated. She turns her head to the side, takes a quick look, and says if it'll be about 30 minutes. My massage therapist pointed out that the hostess only look into the bar area. So I asked again we want to be seated for dinner in the restaurant. Mind you restaurant was half empty. She then proceeds to tell me that they have no tables available. I then proceeded to respond to her we just looked online and it looks like you had tons of reservations available. She then completely ignores me turns over to somebody next to her and says table number five or whatever number it was. And we get seated finally. I have no idea what that was all about I have never run into that kind of behavior before from a hostess at a "nice" restaurant. (I can't help but wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my massage therapist is African-American) anyhow we get seated and we decide to go with the tasting menu. Now my massage therapist completely allergic to gluten.. she made it a point to repeat over and over I can't have gluten don't give me anything with gluten. They assured her they would accommodate to give her a gluten-free experience. As we went through our courses, the food was pretty good. Then came our first dessert course. It was some sort of mousse type thing with bread. I had regular bread and it looked like they gave her on the side some sort of gluten-free bread. As we begin to eat this course she looks over at my plate and says why don't you have chocolate on your plate? And I'm like yeah that's weird I wonder why I don't have chocolate and you do that is very strange I think they forgot to put the chocolate on my dessert. we realized what has happened.. they gave her gluten, and gave me the gluten free dish. We asked and at first they downplayed it, then finally they apologized for given her gluten. What did they do that they thought was sufficient to make up for her having a night of hell from consuming gluten? They deducted that specific course from our bill. That's all. Really?! You give my guest something that they are allergic to and all you can do is say we won't charge you for only that specific course? Gee thanks . I'm still sort of shocked that they didn't do more to make up for it. They should've at least comped her meal or something. Nope. In my opinion the clearly weren't very sorry. Would not recommend. Go to Meadowood in Napa valley. It's sort of the same concept but much better execution. read more

Really enjoyed our stay here. This is our second time in 5 weeks. The valets are awesome and really welcome you and help you navigate the area. There are complimentary electric bikes to bike around, Lexus cars to explore the neighboring areas, morning coffee and pastries, and peloton bikes in the gym! There is plenty of room om the property. Brief walk to see iconic Golden Gate Bridge and Bay bridge. The Bay Area Discovery Museum is also a kids favorite. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights with the wifey for our birthdays and anniversary. OMG. Super nice. It's like the Golden Gate Bridge is in your back yard! Love the morning coffee and pastries reception and you def can't beat the wine reception either. The staff was great- everyone from the valet to the front desk was super nice. Loved Cooper, the golden retriever hanging out in the lobby... We also got some really great ideas from Nancy, the chef concierge. We ended up "test driving" one of the Lexus' they have for guests to use...for free! We ended up driving up and down the coast area- Muir Woods, Stinson Beach...it was awesome! We stayed in one of the historic buildings and it has so much character. Loved the soaking tub! We will most definitely be back! read more
