I went here a few weeks ago because I've heard so many great things from a friend who lived in DC and another friend who came soon after they opened three times in one single day so I had high hopes and expectations. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by almost all the employees. They were very friendly and ready to help as they knew most people coming or new to the food. We were offered a complementary warm pita which I gladly accepted! They also let us sample the meats before committing. I got amake your own bowl. My friend got the chicken pita that was on the menu. She loved it just how it came. I don't remember everything I got on the bowl, but all the dips were amazing. The chicken was juicy and everything tasted very fresh. I've since been back and got a similar bowl and it was almost as good as the first. If they're still offering the sour cream and onion pita chips, I would hop on it before they're gone.

Harissa Chicken Power bowl

We ordered pickup here last night from this new location. While the food was tasty, there was a lot left to be desired. Our Harissa Chicken Power bowl had no chicken. My falafel bowl came with two tiny falafels, which my guess isn't the norm since my husband got 4 lamb meatballs on his Lamb Bowl. The portions were small in two of the three items we ordered, and we were missing some pita bread. Also, the presentation was a little lackluster. I hope these are just some of the new restaurant kinks that need to be worked out, but overall, I won't be racing back here anytime soon.

Alihan's Mediterranean Cuisine - Falafel lunch specials

The menu lists many meat, seafood, and vegetarian options, and the chefs can accommodate customers on gluten-free and vegan diets. Examples of menu items are lentil soup, babaghanoush, falafel, shepherd salad, lamb chops, many kebabs, sea bass, sautés, house-made desserts such as baklava, and non-alcoholic beverages. My husband and I ate one lunch here. Indoor and covered outdoor seating was available. The employees promptly greeted and seated us, and I appreciated that they recommended specific menu items to help me choose. After a reasonable wait, the foods were brought to our table. Here are my ratings for what we ordered: Grilled Shrimp - 5 stars - Several large, juicy shrimp were on skewers and had been perfectly cooked. Sides were mixed vegetables and a mix of rice and bulgur. Chicken Shish Kebab - 4 stars - The chunks of chicken were large and juicy and had a mild seasoning. On the side was rice pilav. Turkish Tea - 4.5 stars - This black tea was a good size and was served hot. Packets of sweeteners were available. The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.

I started with a half order of their Greek salad. The salad came out looking pretty good and even though it was very lightly dressed, it tasted vibrant and bright from the cheese and olives on it. I wanted to get some more dressing, but the server didn't come back to ask how things were and she just kept walking by, not even looking for me to wave down. Overall, the salad was decent, but it did need a little more dressing. The kabob came up next and it looked ok. The kabob itself was more on the bland side... I didn't taste herbs and spices at all, more like just grilled meat. The bulgar was excellent and offered lots of flavor, so I tried to eat some with each fork of kabob I bit into. This dish came with a pretty large salad too, which was slightly depressing looking, with some wilted lettuce in it. I also tried their Turkish Tea to start and really liked that. Overall, the service was friendly, just not attentive at all. The venue looks welcoming and warm. Menu has many great options, I feel like I just tried the wrong thing.

Very nice Mediterranean restaurant. I visited this place on the day before Mother's Day, and it was…read moresurprisingly not super packed. It's got a nice location on the central road in Squirrel Hill, but it's a bit hard to find parking. When I got there, I got to try their shish tawouk (chicken kabob), mujadara, salad with feta, and iced mint tea. The tea was pretty alright. Refreshing and a nice mint flavor; I think they might make the blend in house. They also brought out some nice pita before we started the meal. For my main course, I ordered the shish tawouk. You usually get this meal with the rice pilaf, but they were out, so I got to try the mujadara. I'm actually quite glad! The chicken was tender, and the portion was very fair. They served it with a nice tomato sauce, but I also asked for some garlic sauce on the side. The sauces both seem to be homemade, and definitely go well with the chicken. The mujadara was surprisingly delicious. They top the dish with crispy sweet onions. It's a mix of lentils and some other grain. Very good! One thing to mention generally is this place closes quite early, usually around 8 or 8:30 PM, so do keep it in mind. It is also very clearly a family endeavor, with the mom managing most of the tables and the kids always helping out. Very nice place!
