Very nice overall experience with our to-go order. We got a grain and a grain & greens bowl plus a cup of one of their teas/fruit juices. You are reminded of the signs on the glass if you have a question about anything in the case. They answer any questions asked about the listed items on the signs. I tried the braised lamb and roasted vegetables over brown rice with tzatziki and crazy feta sauces. So many delicious toppings to choose from too. There are plenty of extra charges for some items or additional items so be sure to ask if you are uncertain. Our bowls made 3-4 meals for the both of us so you definitely get your money's worth. My family and I had worked up an appetite shopping at IKEA and Target nearby and so when we saw CAVA, we made a u-turn to have lunch there. I've eaten at CAVA several times over the years (I had it in DC a few years ago but it's started to spread to TN and TX, where I have lived and spend a lot of time), and it's one of my favorite fast casual places to grab a quick, affordable, but healthy meal! This location was no different. If you haven't been before, think of it like Middle Eastern Chipotle: you walk down the line choosing your base (salad, lentils, pita, etc.), your dips and spreads (tzatziki, hummus, harissa, etc.), your protein (falafel, roasted veggies, lamb meatballs, braise lamb, chicken, beef, etc.), your toppings (too many to list), and your dressing (a lot of options here, too, but I love the yogurt dill since it's cooling after adding the harissa). It sounds like a lot, but they're pretty helpful and don't rush you if you're confused. My stepdad was the only one who hadn't been before, and he really enjoyed his creation. This place is great. We've always had excellent customer service and they are patient (with me at least) if I have questions about multiple items. Now that I've been a few times I know exactly what to order. The pita chips are a MUST HAVE add on and every time my taste buds think "Are these too salty?" my brain is like "Nope just perfect." This evening, I visited the CAVA at 5201A Campbell Blvd in Whitemarsh. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was gonna be horrible. The trashcan was overflowing and the tables were dirty (during CoVID), so I decided to do take out. I asked the female employee about the greens options and she failed to tell me that there was a extra charge for rice if I got Rightrice. Then, when I asked for rice she didn't want to give me the correct portion. Then she insulted my intelligence by questioning me as the customer. Next, I ask for falafel and they (her and two other employees) begin to talk about me in their native language when they were just speaking aubianle English. I was then advised that I could only get four falafel while that was my only protein and I had already paid 1.50 extra for rice and greens. Then I ask for my pita bread and they tell me they are all out. The smart business owner after this horrible experience and the rudeness that was expressed so far should have alerted me that they didn't have pita (which was included) and deducted some of the other options. Let me start out by saying I am a CAVA regular at this location. But it's starting to go downhill. Today, me and a friend went to grab lunch. The portions were extremely small and I thought they were joking. I had to awkwardly ask for more lentils for my GRAIN BOWL. They put in enough for a topping. My friend ordered 1/2 sweet potatoes and 1/2 chicken and got TWO potatoes. The "mini pita" was different and was like a 1/4 cut of the regular one. The employees weren't friendly nor did I recognize them so they could be new. When I asked where the Fresno peppers went, I got an attitude response. Omg CAVA is the best Mediterranean quick service spot I have had thus far. For starters, you stand in a quick two minute line and then you are graced with staff who will take your order and provide details on anything that you will need. You must try the Pineapple Apple Tea it's sweet and savory. I had the salad bowl the lettuce was crisp and fresh. My toppings were to die for and the dressing was outstanding. I love CAVA dips that are sold at my local grocery store and have been to Cava mezze a number of times--so good. I kept hearing such great things about this quick service version, and wished we had one closer than DC. I stumbled upon this newer location today and couldn't have been happier! The restaurant itself is quite large with ample seating, including high chairs for little ones. The service when ordering at the counter was friendly and very speedy. Being my first time, it was a bit overwhelming having SO many choices, but the nice lady helping me provided great suggestions. I ordered a rice bowl with half chicken/half falafel, tzatiski, hummus & crazy feta dips, and a myriad of toppings. It was 10x better than I could have even expected--and with endless combos and choices, I can't ever imagine getting sick of this place. The one major downside--its a 25 min drive from my house :( Compared to Zoe's kitchen, which I have down the street, I would easily drive back to CAVA before going to Zoe's anytime soon. Worst service. I am a long time customer of Cava and appreciate that they offer healthier food options. However, the customer service at this location is so inferior I will not return. I have had several bad experiences at this location, but the service on the evening of 6/17/24 was a deal breaker. The female staff (both of them) were rude, and the restaurant was out of many food and toppings. I was attempting to place three orders which made it complicated. The staff had no patience to facilitate this process. They were more interested in closing shop although it was 45 minutes prior to closing. The seats were stacked up and the staff taking orders were impatient, rude, and clearly ready to go. I would have placed my order online (which seems to work best when ordering for more than one) but couldn't because the dining area was already packed up.
