I give it 1 star because I can't give it 0 stars. They fried chicken in dirty grease and made my mother sick! Stay away!

Each protein costs $3-5 each so if you want to add a second protein, expect the price to go up significantly. I definitely prefer Poke Bowl 2016 in Kenilworth White Marsh/The Avenue because almost all of the toppings are included in the price and getting 2 proteins in a large bowl is only $17. Here, everything is sort of nickel and dimed. The bowl was pretty good - the owner gave me spicy mayo on the side for free when I asked which helped the taste. I do wish there was more salmon/protein given - it was more rice and veggie heavy. I do want to come back to try the sushi burritos which is what they are known for. The seating was ample in the restaurant and restaurant seemed clean.

After perusing the menu, I decided on the Japanese Chicken Udon and an order of Vegetable Spring Rolls (2 per order). Orders are placed utilizing the self-serve kiosks but staff are on hand if you have any questions. After several minutes, my order was ready for pick up. Both were flavorful but the spring rolls were lukewarm, at best, and the Udon was lacking a sufficient amount of chicken. The space is clean with simple decor. Overall, not great but certainly not terrible v

Not only is their fish always fresh, but their portions are generous, and they allow you to modify the sides. I dislike ginger on my fish, and this is literally the only place I don't have to worry that a wonderful piece of salmon will be marred by the taste of ginger. The hours here are fantastic, as we often order after work which can be 9 or 10, and their Chinese options are super solid as well. I just realized I haven't sent in this review before and it's been sitting in queue unfinished for over a year. I was coming here to update, but I still love this place so much. I had a carryout order and they forgot one of the many boxes of white rice. I have not even unpacked the bag at my house to serve when I got a call from them. They offered to send out a delivery driver. I told him that was ridiculous that I would come and get it because it's only a box of rice and that seems like a waste of a delivery driver. In the meantime, my kid had tried the chicken teriyaki and had housed the whole serving of it and finding anything that my picky eater will devour is a blessing so I went and ordered another order of it since I was going to be going back anyway. When I arrived, they had my order they asked. Did you order another order and I said yes the kid loved the chicken teriyaki so much. I had to get more.. She said oh good. I have something else for you and handed me a whole additional dish that I did not order this time, but having in the past. They are so thoughtful, the customer service is top-tier, and the quality of food and serving size is top-notch. We love this place. We will not stop going here. Also their new sushi tacos and sushi burritos are amazing and they have all you care to eat sushi every day they are open from 12 to 5.

I was skeptical of the low prices but when the sushi came out, I was so thrilled to see perfectly cooked rice, not too much rice, and lots of fish with large rolls. The fish was super fresh, and they make California rolls with kani/crab salad the way I like it. My favorite rolls are california roll, salmon avocado, and the spicy girl roll. My favorite special rolls are: Tokyo roll, Goldfish Roll, No 99 roll, Pink Lady, Rainbow roll...too many to name! It's worth mentioning that they have all-you-can eat option every day from 12-5pm. It's on a smaller menu that you order a la carte from, but it includes regular rolls, special rolls, appetizers, soups, desserts, and some Chinese entrees. It's $26 per person and such a fantastic value. We also enjoyed their Chinese food and have tried General Tso's chicken and crab rangoon (called crispy crab and shrimp wontons on the menu). Only thing we haven't liked here was the bibimbap (missing a bunch of vegetables and heavy on the rice). I am a little skeptical to try the Thai and Korean food options after the bibimbap. The gyoza and pork dumplings were good though. It is a casual unassuming sushi spot with plenty of seating inside. The service here is nice as well but you order food at the counter - the owner Cheng is SOO nice!! Miso soup has unlimited refills when you dine in. They also provide free spicy mayo with each sushi order. I cannot wait to try out the rest of their menu and will definitely be back often!

I think I would have liked kani salad rather than a whole crabstick in the burrito. I also purchased the 3 roll lunch special - each maki roll comes with 8 pieces, which I always like. The rice wasn't my favorite cook, I think a little crumbly. The avocado included was fresh. I think the salmon wasn't the freshest tasting but certainly not bad. I enjoyed the eel avocado roll the most. I prefer California rolls with kani salad instead of crab stick. The owner/cashier was very nice and offered to re-bag my food into one bag. The paper bag was custom to the restaurant and of nice quality. The interior was nice for dining in, though a little warm given the temperature outside. It was nice of them to include a lot of yum-yum sauce on the side - good for hibachi dishes. Spicy mayo would be better for sushi in my opinion. I'd like to come back to try their hibachi items.

I can't complain too much because the price was reasonable. The noodle was horrible. I knew the noodles were no good the moment I saw the cook place them in the platter. Walking in, we saw a huge, clear plastic barrier side to side and most of the way to the ceiling, and i wondered why. It looks awful and is off-putting, which is what restaurants do not want. You order through a small gap in the plastic. I ordered the Japanese chicken noodle soup, and it arrived piping hot. After it cooled a bit, i tried the broth and IMO it lacked flavor. The chicken breast in it was very tender, and the baby boy Choi did not really seem to complement the soup. Also, I ordered a shrimp egg roll, yup, you guessed, right. It was all cabbage and 1 shrimp, only 1 of the tiniest shrimp I've ever seen and very greasy. It was disappointing. My husband ordered the shrimp and chicken on fried rice ( the man working there said this is their most popular dish). What arrived was only shrimp on the fried rice and no chicken. It was ok, a bit on the sweet side. Generous serving. Generally speaking, the menu is limited, and that is good when you can expect what they do being done well. I would much rather have it that way instead of a restaurant that has lots and lots, meaning quality vs. quantity. In this visit, the quality was off for my portion of the meal. Prices are reasonable for what you order. Service was really good and accommodating. They were very friendly.

One of the first things that caught my attention was the pricing. All of the AYCE restaurants I've been to always have separate lunch and dinner rates, but Kanji has an incredible deal of ONLY $30 all day long for their full menu + buffet AND it is so worth it! I loved that everything is made to order, so every sushi roll, hibachi, and teriyaki dish arrived fresh, hot, and nicely prepared! Beyond the sushi and hibachi, the buffet selection was fantastic. I was able to try everything from meaty crab legs and seafood boil to wings and wontons! I felt like every craving I had was satisfied here. A unique touch to the buffet is the sauce bottle section. I'm a huge fan of yum yum sauce and spicy mayo, so being able to add as much as I wanted to each bite made my experience so much better and tastier! The most important highlight of my experience was the service! Most times at AYCE sushi spots, it can take forever to receive my order... meanwhile at Kanji, my sushi order came out on a BOAT. I was beyond surprised at the beautiful presentation and how kind the server was to remind my table which rolls was which. Our server was so quick and attentive, making sure that our experience was enjoyable from start to finish! I truly loved my experience here at Kanji and highly highly recommend it! It's the perfect spot to bring friends and family to enjoy a fun and satisfying dining experience.
