After my appointment at the Veteran Affairs we passed by here at Mendocino Farm La Jolla…read more Our first time here so we just picked which one looks good and sounds good on the menu board. We picked PERUVIAN STEAK SANDWICH, a seared steak tossed in Spicy aji amarillo sauce, then their CHIMICHURRI STEAK BACON; it's a seared steak and applewood-smoked bacon, and also got their SMOKEY BBQ BRIOCHE SANDWICH , this one is a smoke Pork burnt ends with BBQ sauce. Every sandwich we had tasted good, but i like the most the Chimichurri Steak & Bacon, it's more to my palate, not too sweet or not too spicy. Service was quick our sandwiches were done quickly, plenty of staff go around checking the tables and greeting the customers. Parking is easy, with lots of spaces.

I think I was sitting in the store for at least 30 minutes while a family member waited in our car and watched several people park, get their orders and leave. Two people who ordered after us received their food before we did. I finally stood up and only then did an associate crabbily pack up our order and give it to us. When we first arrived, no one even showed up at the counter for at least five minutes. There was another customer waiting behind us as well. My sandwich (Happy Hippie) was not very good...insubstantial and put together in a blah manner. A family member who had the "not so fried chicken sandwich" said it was too salty. I paid $62 for this order (with a tip, which I had added before the long wait...) It obviously wasn't a good value, This is a beautiful and clean store but a general lack of enthusiasm from the associates, inconsistent customer service, high prices, and mediocre quality food will dissuade me from making any future visits to this location.

Avengers Assemble! We ate here a total of three times over a…read morefour day stay in La Jolla. It's so modular and easy to order from the table through our phone app,, it honestly felt as high-tech as Tony Stark commanding F.R.I.D.A.Y. from his suit tbh. Although this was not our first time eating here, they must have changed the business model, as the last time we went was almost a decade ago. Their menu has changed significantly, and although they were excellent before, I think they are even better. We tried pretty much all of the proteins, from the steak, chicken, pork rib, ribs, and they were all excellent very fresh ingredients. The meats were so perfectly cooked and tender they basically fell apart easier than Thanos's army at the end of Endgame lol. We especially love the side dishes. The broccolini was excellent with the sesame sauce. We loved the brussels sprouts as well. And I really loved the beef and mushroom soup. It had such a comforting and rich flavor that it felt like Scarlet Witch used some chaos magic in the kitchen to get it exactly right. French fries were pretty good, and pretty standard. That was the only dish that was average, but everything else was excellent. Good service and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We even brought our pups! The patio was so spacious and chill it basically felt like relaxing at the Avengers compound after a mission. Parking is super easy. It was such a breeze we didn't even need to use Pym particles to shrink our car to fit into a spot. Five out of five stars

For a large you'd definitely get full. The dressing consistency wasn't totally free-flowing liquid, it was a bit gelatinous but maybe bc of the ingredients! Still tasted good. I found myself wishing the salad was tossed more thoroughly so ingredients were more evenly distributed. Wish there was an additional ingredient in this salad that would make it pop, because the strawberries inside were still as mellow as the other things inside. I love salad but this just didn't blow me away. The service is quick and kind! One con is that there's a lot of flies when we sat outside, and also right next to the entrance inside... Free street parking (2 hours) is available though you gotta spend some time finding it. No bathroom.

Ended up giving the hotel restaurant a chance despite the 3.5 rating. Was very pleased with our experience! Our food was pretty good Salmon was an amazing recommendation The braised short rib was a little disappointing. Flavor did not penetrate the meat so it felt bland. The wine sauce was very subtle. But the mash potatoes were good. The Ahi Tuna tostadas definitely had really good flavor! The cheesecake was good paired with a cup of Americano. The price did feel on the high side for the portion size and quality, but I think we're really just paying for the convenience. Wasn't very busy, service was attentive. We sat outdoor and the heat lamps were working effectively. Outdoor seating options are pretty casual and comfortable.

We were seated right away, and our server was very nice, attentive and polite throughout the meal. The food came out at somewhat different times, but nothing unreasonable, and she did a good job checking on us. The food itself was okay. My Caesar salad could have used a little more dressing, although I could have asked for more, and the flatbread was pretty good, maybe a little better than average. What brought the experience down for me was the price and the way the charges were presented. Two drinks, a flatbread and a salad came to around $80. There was also a surcharge described as helping defray the cost of minimum wage, plus an 18% service charge added to the bill. We were a party of six, although we had separate checks, so it's possible the 18% was related to the size of the group. Either way, I'd rather a restaurant simply build its operating costs into the menu prices instead of adding extra surcharges at the end. And in this case, our server actually deserved a good tip, I probably would have given her 20% because she did a very good job, but I still prefer having that choice rather than having it automatically added. Good service, decent food, but for me the overall value wasn't quite there.
