Usually so stoked to come to Cava when I'm traveling to DC but I wasn't as floored as usual today. Good thing about this new spot is that it's HUGE and doesn't have a fraction of the craziness of the Tysons location. Clean spot with lots of seating and space. Plenty of parking as it's in a big shopping area. Food was alright today. Got grains and greens with half falafel / half spicy lamb sliders. Staff was sort of carefree. Something about fast casual to-go bowls gets me real excited. Green and grains. Chicken and all the toppings. Watermelon and mint to sip on. Beware, the spicy add-ins are actually spicy (more than white people spicy here, y'all). Overall, totally in love with this place. 11/10 would eat every day. read more

Beyond stoked that a Cava Mezze Grill has opened in Alexandria! I'm a big fan of Cava Mezze Grill, and I usually frequent the one in Mosaic District. I absolutely love the concept, which is similar to Chipotle but with Mediterranean-style food. Start off with a base of either rice, salad, greens + grains, pita, mini pitas, or minis + soup. Then, add your proteins, dips and spreads, toppings, and finally dressing. I typically opt for a rice bowl and then pile on grilled chicken or grilled meatballs and roasted veggies, add some tzatziki sauce and roasted red pepper hummus, continue with tomatoes and onions, cucumbers, pita chips, quinoa, and lemon, and I usually do not add any additional dressing. It's a fantastic bowl of healthy and tasty ingredients. For the most part, I can never finish the whole thing, so I have leftovers for lunch the next day. I also like getting some of their drinks, the strawberry mint lime and lavender limeade being my favorites. This Cava Mezze Grill is brand new and the space is very large. It's clean and modern, and there's plenty of seats. I'm so happy to have a healthier fast food option so close to me! read more

I was pretty excited to see a Cava was opening up in Alexandria! This fast-casual restaurant offers build-your-own bowls of Mediterranean goodies. You start off with a base (salad, rice, pita, or grains), dips/spread, protein (falafel, grilled chicken, grilled meatballs, braised beef, spicy lamb meatballs, or braised lamb), toppings (lemon wedges, pickled onions, quinoa tabbouleh, etc.), and then dressings. I had the Greens & Grain (Romaine and the basmati rice), hummus and the Crazy Feta, grilled chicken (the chicken was a little too dry, but it was alright for me) and the falafels (these had a chlorine taste to them, so they were pushed off to the side), kalamata olives, and cucumber (these were missing from my order). I don't care much for the pita bread, but this time around, it was okay and good with the dip. The Crazy Feta is my absolute favorite (they even sell this and their other dips at Whole Foods/specialty grocery stores), as it has a nice bite from the feta cheese with a nice little kick. I've also noticed that the portion was a little more conservative than the other locations, so I'm hoping this is just an opening day issue! One thing I was really excited about was their housemade juices, as I'm a huge fan of the Mango Apple Kale; while they didn't have the Mango Apple Kale, they still had 6 varieties (Black Tea, Hibiscus Green Tea, Carrot Ginger Lemonade, Lavender Limeade, Strawberry Mint Lime, and Cardamom Apple Basil) - I had their Strawberry Mint Lime, where not much mint was tasted, but it was more like a strawberry limeade. Drinking these juices that is jampacked with fruits and vegetables make you feel slightly better about downing them like there's no tomorrow AHAHA. Recycling stations for compost, plastics, etc. are all set-up and there's plenty of seating - this place is definitely larger and more spacious than the other Cavas I've been to. Since the place is new, it is bright, clean, and super cheerful. There's also an ample amount of parking in the shared plaza lot. I refuse to eat at this Cava again. Every other Cava offers plenty of grain and greens so much so that I usually can eat half for lunch and half for dinner. But every time I visit the Cava on Duke Street my bowl is half empty. So the last time I was in there a couple weeks ago, I asked for a few more pieces of lettuce and another scoop of rice. I received all kinds of attitude and was promptly told it would cost extra. I swear there was like 5 pieces of lettuce and two measly tablespoons of rice--which is the cheapest thing to buy in the restaurant business. I declined the 'extra' serving and asked for the manager's card once I paid. I never did receive a card or info after waiting at the counter for 10 minutes after paying. This place was suggested by my coworkers for lunch. This particular location is great if you are looking for ample parking, we went around the 11am hour so it wasn't crowded, we may have beaten the lunch rush. So I decided to build my bowl, for my base chose the grains and greens(arugula and lentils and brown rice and quinoa ) for my protein I decided to do the spicy lamb meatballs, with tzatiki and for my toppings(pickeld onions, tomato and cucumber salad and crumbled feta). This was my first time eating at a Cava grill and it was exactly what I was hoping. Fresh ingredients with lots of flavorful options. They also have a fun selection of drinks - try the lavender limeade and the carrot ginger lemonade. Those were my faves. I had a bowl this time but I'm looking forward to trying their salads. But if you're open till eight and still serving people inside the restaurant and letting app orders, then you're open for me to pick up. I love their braised lamb - both the meatballs and shredded. I haven't had any of their other meats. My fave is a bowl of supergreens, I usually pass on the rice and lentils. They have several dips/spreads and you can choose three. I like tzatziki, crazy feta and roasted red pepper hummus. Then I choose either braised lamb or spicy lamb meatballs. I could not finish this day without writing about the excellent service I received today in the alexandria foxchase store. Jenn was amazing! She heard me asking about vegan options and she stopped her work to personally take my order to claim my concerns of contamination. She walked slowly down the line telling me what was vegan, what was popular, and what was new/seasonal. She made me feel important, heard, and valued. As she asked, I will tell my vegan friends that CAVA is a safe option for those who are strict vegans. I'll definitely bring them back to see Jenn because she was/is so knowledgeable about veganism. The vegetables are very fresh, and the sauces and dressings are delicious. The homemade juices are very good too, they're not too sweet! You can put as many veggies on your salad or rice bowl as you desire. They also give fresh warm pita bread to go along with the meal, which is the perfect addition. Portion size is severely under portioned. Brought my own food scale and it was 3oz of chicken and i ordered double chicken. Absolutely disappointing. Staff was rude- when i asked for extra tomatoes they declined saying i would even pay extra if necessary. Even though it says unlimited topics for tomatoes and olives... regional manager spends most of his time there- he serves under portioned meals as well. Avoid this location. YA'LL! This place is SO GOOD!! I've always wanted to try Mediterranean and since I was in the area I decided to try it out. I told the worker assisting me that I've never been before and she was so nice and helpful and so awesome!! You have the option to make a bowl or a pita and there's so many options for both paths. I wasn't a big fan of the drink options because they were kind of tart, but adding water helped a lot. The place is huge and we went around 8pm so it wasn't crowded there is also enough parking and you don't have to pay for it! Visiting Virginia and Maryland I've noticed you have to pay for parking but not here! It's great for solo, couple, family, group, and work trips! This is the first time in Cava. I thought I will try it. Not a bad experience at all. I loved top three things about Cava. The ambience is spacious with upbeat background modern style music. I ordered the chicken bowl with a mix of roasted vegs and a mix of seasonings and toppings, ie Middle Eastern Humus, cucumber yogurt and harrisaz. Not as generous but tasted great. Did not like much the tomato soup. A bit cold and slightly with a burned smell to it. Friendly staff. Will certainly go back again and enjoy their falafel and braised lamb. read more

Just visited this location to grab lunch with a dear friend. This was my first time at Cava and I can assure you I will be visiting my local location again. The chipotle style service is fairly quick and they give you plenty of options. I ordered a grain bowl with chicken, pico de gallo, pickled onions, tomatoes and spicy apricot dressing. My friend highly recommended the spicy apricot dressing. The chicken was tender and well seasoned (I've also been told that the meatballs are good), and the other toppings were all fresh and delicious. This location is very spacious, clean, and well lit thanks to the large windows. They have several drink options aside from the normal fountain drinks. Cava is one of my go-to places for weeknights when #aintnobodygottime, but I still need some nutrition. I always get their greens+grains bowl, and I was happy with my order (Supergreens, brown rice, grilled meatballs, roasted red pepper hummus, tzatziki, eggplant + red pepper, a bunch of their toppings, and the lemon tahini dressing). At other Cava locations, my meal is either a hit or a miss, so I'm hoping that this particular location stays consistent. Parking is plentiful as the establishment is located within a shopping center, so no worries there. Have been coming to Cava for years. I get my bowls to go. Recently every time I come there is something wrong with one of the bowls. My husband found a tiny rock in his bowl?!!!! Almost cracked his tooth. I emailed and called customer service with a photo and they did nothing. Horrible customer service. After not eating there for months I decided to go back today. The lamb meat balls were burnt. So hard to chew. And the feta had mold on it!! Will never go back to Cava!! read more
