When I got there they had 4 dogs waiting for placement, if I had my way I'd have taken all 4 but I had a hard enough time getting one. She was immediately drawn an 8.5 year old Corgi mix we said we'd take her after filling out the contract they handed her leash and her stuff A 25 pound container of food, 2 dog beds, toys including 3 balls treats a blanket. And said let us know anything she needs. They supply everything needed to keep the dog healthy, we supply the place for her to be happy. 2 days after we brought her home Amera called checking in, when I told her she had destroyed a ball a day, she replied just stop by and we'll give you more balls. We received a bag of balls, joint pills, a soft brush for her as she's a short hair ball destroying monster but the biggest smile and sweetest character so I think she's a keeper, and my wife is smitten over her as well

I called later begging them to see her and was told to wait til they opened. I paid ER fees and was willing to pay them again to save my dog as she was in agony. As her Momma, I knew she was sick and that should have been a reasonable assumption of the vet too. My dog died because a vet didn't care enough. I'll never take another animal there.

Friends of ours adopted two of these puppies and are thrilled. None of them complained about the contract or the process because they understood adopting a dog should not be taken lightly. What these people do is very hard work and is done only out of the love they have for saving the lives of the dogs they help. I have seen complaints here of the long adoption process which is ridiculous. If you care about the lives of these dogs you want to find solid, responsible homes for them. You should be concerned with any rescue organization that will just hand you a pup with no questions asked. Those are the ones you need to be wary of - not Innocent Paws whose process is very responsible and thorough! I have and will continue to refer friends and family to this wonderful rescue.

They make sure they are altered, have vaccines, microchip and any other care that they might need prior to adopting them out. They also are good at doing reference checks to do their best to make sure that the animals will be going to a good or appropriate home for them. As a volunteer, they have been wonderful to work with. i have 2 teens that i volunteer with and their lives have been much enriched by being able to walk the dogs. The staff at animal friends is friendly and helpful. And the training provided beforehand helps them to know you are committed to coming and being a regular at their facility. They took some down time for covid but have since began opening up volunteer slots. We highly enjoy working with them and i know many people who have adopted from them and loved the process!

We happened upon Sherlock with Big Bones, and were eagerly awaiting to meet this sweet boy. I filled out the lengthy application and was waiting and waiting for any response. Nothing. I wanted to call them, but they don't have a number listed. So more than a week later I went back to the original post on FB about Sherlock and asked if he's possibly already been adopted. The volunteer was nice, she kept me informed and said not yet. I asked why I haven't heard back yet, she said to check junk mail folder. Of course there it was, sitting in junk mail for over 8 days. I answered his question regarding our home ownership explaining that I am the home owner, but my home is in a Trust and will remain that way. Without any other questions we were turned down and told that we are not a good fit for Sherlock, but no explanation as to why. He said we can try to apply for a different dog. WHAT? No thank you! How rude! I am so deeply crushed. I just wanted to meet him. I will never use this agency. Max Fund and plenty of others, are far more reasonable and easier to communicate with and meet the animals in need. Adopters be warned.

The staff were super sweet but definitely would have 2 people working and have a trainee during rush hour. Overall, I'd come back but I'd expect a longer wait.
