This is my third trip to Barn on the Pond. Every time it just gets more and more magical. This time…read morewe were 13 people for a three day birthday celebration. We arrived on Friday night and kicked things off with a barbecue on the terrace. Everything you need for an easy and fun cook up is on hand. Most of the group were new to BOTP and the Catskills and were in awe of both. The accommodations are more fabulous than they look in the already great photography on the website, and so comfortable. Everyone was happy and we spread out across the barn, airstream and cabin. I slept in the solarium with hubby. Now he wants us to upgrade to king size bed at home. Propped up on all the fluffy pillows and bolsters for my morning read surrounded by the verdant scenery was a balm for this New Yorker's psyche. Hubby also took an instant liking to one of the armchairs. This one room is so versatile. One of the writers in our group used the desk during the day. When you close the doors it is very very quiet. The couples in kitchen and master bedrooms respectively slept soundly, while the mezzanine crew were equally happy and at ease. The cabin peeps, a father and son, were thrilled to have their own separate digs and absolutely loved it. Two gal pals had the airstream and they too rested well . In short we were all in our happy place and were all able to really relax. Everything through out the property sings inspired human. As a group we felt so blessed and connected, free and flowing. When our Saturday morning attempt to leave and go swimming was thwarted by a deluge we just danced and practiced yoga in the rain. This was just happy sober. When the skies did clear in the afternoon some of us went swimming at a nearby lake, some went for a scenic drive and checked out a whiskey distillery and some just lounged. Barn on the Pond is amazing, a luxury immersion in nature, the service from the Team incredible, we will be back next year for another birthday and to host a meditation retreat.

What a great experience!!! Terrific place for a weekend getaway. Peaceful, excellent, and wonderful.read more

It is located in Maplecrest, a tiny burg close to a larger burg, Windham, in the northern Catskills. And we just spent two very comfortable nights in their Americana room, which offers some nice views of the mountains. Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed felt just right, not too firm, and the shower gave us plenty of hot water. There was a window AC unit, but we didn't need it since the weather turned unexpectedly cool. With the windows opened, we had cooling night air to help us sleep soundly and no outside noises. The breakfasts were delicious, freshly prepared and beginning with some fruit yogurt, then scrambled eggs snd crispy bacon (unless you prefer pancakes). The hostess, a native of Poland, is a good conversationalist and knows a lot about sightseeing in the area. Because the weather was chilly, we didn't visit the expansive yard which includes chairs around a fire pit and an enclosed garden. (Her husband owns a replica 1929 Mercedes, which if you can persuade him to take it out is quite a fun showpiece). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and have marked it on our list for a return.

From the very…read morebeginning, Rick (the owner) was so helpful and always available whenever we had questions or needed guidance. He truly cares about the couples who get married on his property, and it shows. Amber was also incredible--she knew every detail of the venue inside and out and became our day-of coordinator. Thanks to her, the day flowed seamlessly, and we never had to worry about a thing. Her organization and calm presence allowed us to just enjoy every moment. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Our first look photos by the waterfall were breathtaking, and everywhere you turn feels like a perfect backdrop for photos. Guests couldn't stop talking about the cows, which ended up being such a unique and fun highlight for everyone. The Barn at Indian Ridge offers the perfect mix of rustic charm, natural beauty, and wonderful people who genuinely want your day to be perfect. Choosing this venue was the best decision we made, and we will forever be grateful for the memories we made here.

He met with the future couple several times, recommended his choices for catering and floral arrangements but also explained she could use anyone she wanted. She went with his suggestions and hired from his short list and all did great, no, fantastic jobs. The grounds themselves are stunning and pristine. This place is on three hundred acres and far enough from the road and neighbors that there is no concern about how loud you might get while celebrating. During the cocktail hour there were two corn hole games set up which a lot of us had fun trying out. The staff was really attentive and friendly. Everything went off without a hitch. I cannot say enough about the owner Ricky and the simple things he did to be one step above the rest. He had them leave one of their trucks there and had the staff pack up all the gifts and belongings of theirs so they could leave and continue the party without needing to worry about it. The next day when my wife and I took out new daughter back to pick up her truck, he showed up and spent time asking her if she was happy with how things went, and was just friendly and engaging with her, who, was ecstatic with the event and venue and just wanted to talk to him. He hung out and help us pack up the last few items too. His staff also climbed up the ladders into the rafters to take down the flower boxes she built so we did not have to go up there ourselves. All in all, our experience here was great. I have seen some of the photos that were taken and this location as the background was perfect. If you are looking for a venue you could not do any better. There are plenty of hotels withing a short driving distance and he mentioned to us he is planning to put in Glam camping tents as well as buying trailer homes so people could rent and stay right on the grounds. Definitely worth a look!

I was a little concerned when we arrived in Prattsville and even more concerned when we turned onto Wright Street. The surrounding residents were.... well I'll just say this - you would be likely to find lawn mowers inside the houses and bathrooms outside the houses. Once we got past that and met our lovely hostess and saw the rental it was all 5 stars. The place is small, no question but it is a great economic option. Full service kitchen, clean and I slept like a baby. It served it's purpose with style. I did kill a spider I found in the bed but my wife was sleeping so it was no biggie. If you book a stay at the bungalow feel free to bring a donation for the kitchen. If you have an extra pan or dish or something, you can leave it there for the next guest.

Quite obviously I'd rank this 5-star since I keep returning. The owner takes care of the property--the big stuff and the "little" stuff that makes it homey--and her guests. The town is "quaint," so to speak, but the people are friendly. The northern Catskills are beautiful, and there is no better place to stay if you prefer not to be holed up in a motel or expensive lodge-like place. Again, my highest ranking goes to this owner and her properties.
