Our bagged breakfast was missing a few items we ordered. That really was not ideal, as we had a long drive ahead of us to the city. So we ended up having to stop to get a couple of things since what we planned on having was not there. Also, the wait for someone to be at check in was long. We went to the Stratton falls first accidentally. It's 2.5 miles from where our location was. Apparently, the guy at check in saw us and knew we were at the wrong property (they were full at that location) but didn't tell us when he saw us. (We didn't see him). When my son finally found someone (that guy) he said "I saw you when you came in and knew you went to the wrong place...". Ok.... So you just let us stand around for 12 min, before we went searching for you? He wouldn't even give us more than "it's down the road." Directions to the other place. That guy was an awful first impression. The lady at our location was lovely, but he made the initial feeling stick with me. So, customer service sucked because of him. I had friends that came to meet us from 30 min away and had to wait an additional 20 min thanks to that guy. Would I suggest it? If the service continues like it was... no. Fun themes though. I hear they moved to new ownership, so maybe that's what is going on.

Falling asleep to the sound of the water from our deck made the experience feel truly special. Even with the cold weather, there were still plenty of activities to keep our family entertained. Between the waterfalls, game room, Netflix, life-sized chess, foosball, air hockey, the Crooked Cabana bar, hot tub, and dry sauna -- this place truly has it all. A special thank you to Chuck for making our Mother's Day weekend even more memorable than we could have imagined. From the cookies and coffee to the kids' welcome packets, every detail reflected warmth and care. We could not imagine a more family-friendly and welcoming experience. This was our third stay here, and it somehow keeps getting better every time. We already cannot wait to come back again and bring even more of our family with us next time.

The main floor of the house features its resturant along with a sitting room with a large fire place. The sitting room is perfect to read a book or play a board game while you have some complimentary tea and coffee. As for the rooms it's an old house so everything is very loud.. all the time...even at night. I get that it's an old house but some form of noise barrier would be nice. In the middle of the night you can hear ppl in the hallway or in the room next to you, doing...well I'll just leave it as loud adult activities lol... The beds are also not very comfortable. As for the food the breakfast is fire. All freshly made food with some nice options. Dinner was a little disappointing unfortunately, flavors just weren't there for multiple dishes. However, it could not have been a more opposite experience. The staff was extremely rude in every situation we encountered. Melissa was roaming our property during our stay and was extremely creepy. We faced an emergency during our stay which we immediately contacted the emergency line. No one answered the phone and days later we were left on "read". Margiery please turn off that setting it is extremely rude and displays you completely ignored us. Our smoke alarm went off multiple times at 4am and was called "finicky" by Melissa. With the $1000 price tag I would expect a nicer trailer park. Stay anywhere else!

However, the gorgeous decor and overall feel of the house would make me return. The innkeeper was kind and more than ready to help us with anything we needed. The vegan breakfast was a stack of pancakes with fresh berries and an array of topping choices. We also got vegan yogurt and homemade granola. Everything was absolutely delicious. The room was larger than I expected it to be from the pictures I had seen online. It was set up nicely too with the bed having a night stand on each side with a book that was related to the sanctuary or animal issues. There were also decorative coasters you could use for the cute mason jars provided for water. One negative is that three of the rooms share one bathroom. There were no other guests during my stay so I didn't have to worry about this. But I think this would be a little annoying if there was a full house. Being only a few minutes away from the sanctuary, you can easily take a walk down the hill and take a tour. I like how the Homestead continues the sanctuary's mission and maintains a vegan house by offering vegan and cruelty free shampoo and not permitting any non vegan food to be stored in their refrigerator. The scenery is gorgeous and I would love the chance to stay at the Homestead again.

I am so glad The Homestead and CAS were the first I got to spend a weekend at. Erica was there to greet us when we arrived and she was a large part of our enjoyment of our stay. She was incredibly accommodating and friendly as could be. We enjoyed two wonderful breakfasts with her - that girl has a way with waffles and tofu scramble!! Our room was lovely and comfortable with its big king sized bed and window air conditioner. The bathroom was right outside our door, and was shared with other guests. I can't wait to return and can't recommend The Homestead highly enough.
