Yo, found this place on a humble on a social media site. So I tried it out last night. Man the place is nice. I like what they did with this its like a wear house turned to a resturant. I like the vibe and food was wonderful. Only issues is the place is kind of small. Id like ti see them expand the interior. Also the live band could be pretty loud so there was times me and my folks had to lean on to hear us talk and have a discussion cause we could not hear each ither over the noise. Other than that, ill definitely go back here. read more

My son took me for mothers day. The esthetics were nice the food very good wait staff very attentive. The reason the 4 stars is two things 1.No AC 2. The good is spicy regardless of what they tell you. I asked to know the food that was not spicy and advised there were many one of them was the short ribs of beef. The rosemary potatoes delicious the gravey rich in dark color, but was spicy. Restaurants should be mindful of medical issues with spicy food. Nothing wrong with serving spicy food but must advise customers there are people with medical conditions that can't eat spicy food. I did not eat all of my beef ribs ate some for lunch and bit into something the set my tongue on fire. They also had a appetizer mango with fried plantain chips. Not worth the small portion for the money there was maybe a teaspoon of chopped mango and some green looking spread. I'm going back again to try other dishes read more

Catherine's is a new, viral restaurant that came up on my feed several times when it was opening. I decided to finally try it and have a few pros and cons: Pros: -the owner or manager walks around to ensure his guests are satisfied -the food is affordable and good, not mind blowing, but good. the oxtail lasagna was my favorite dish. -they have a live band! (i didn't realize they would have one until i got inside, but they were playing and singing all my favorite reggae and dancehall hits so it was the perfect vibe.) -they have a red carpet and doorman to make your entrance feel special Cons: -not sure whether they are trying to be more of a lounge than primarily a restaurant. they had so many low top and high top dining tables in the middle of several booth seating areas (like sections) that made it feel a little awkward to come just to eat. next time i would opt for the bar, carry out, or come early when it's less busy. -the restaurant got super smoky so they had to open the doors to the outside to ventilate. that also made the atmosphere a little uncomfortable and people kept walking in and out of the outside patio (not fully developed with any seating or tables, it's just concrete at the time I went) so there was just way too much going on for what was supposed to be an elevated dining experience -there was also not much room for a dance floor but some patrons made a dance floor on the open space by the bar and almost bumped into our food on our table because of how tight the space was. i don't mind people dancing but there are way too many tables to have room for that. servers also had to go through that area so it just felt like a hazard. if they want to encourage dancing, i think they should remove some tables or have the dance floor area not be a high traffic area. -the service was friendly but our food and drinks took awhile to come. I saw some servers milling about so i was confused by the slowness to even get our order started. I hope it has improved since I tried it, as it definitely has potential to be an amazing spot if they button up things a bit more. read more

This is a very upscale restaurant with an amazing ambiance. We were met by a man outside who opens the door for every guest by way of red carpet. There was soft music playing from a saxophonist who was accompanied by a deejay. I really appreciated that the music wasn't overbearing! The food was no short of amazing. We ordered lamb chops, which were seasoned to perfection, with potatoes, mussels, calamari, chicken wings, and a crab cake. I will say that the crab cake was a little on the mushy side but wasn't unbearable to eat. The potatoes could have had a little more seasoning but salt and pepper did the trick. Our waitress, Keisha, was very attentive, professional, and patient. She made sure we got everything we asked for and didn't miss a beat. All of the staff there had pleasant demeanors and were careful to make good impressions on us. I am thoroughly impressed with this restaurant. I will return! read more

I am very disappointed. If I give to this place 1 out of 5, it is may be the decoration. Please don't go to this place for the following reasons: 1- the images that you see on their website are fake, you will realize when you get your food. 2- Very pricy, be careful the waitress will not explain to you very well the menu, at the end you will spend a lot of money ( example, Oxtail lasagna). 3- The food is not that great for the price. 4 - Management is very rude, they told me that I cannot spend more than an hour on my table because people are waiting, I have never heard that before in the world!, after I spent over 130 USD for food. I told the manager that I will not come back again. 5- Not everything shiny is good, don't be impressed by the website with flashy pictures, there is nothing here for you, go to Longhorn steakhouse, better! I am very disappointed with the food, service, management negative attitude ( since they have crowd, they great you any How. Please don't go to this place!!!!!!!!!! read more

This place is quite new so I will give it the benefit of the doubt. The food was great but the appetizer came out late and it was cold (it was not packed at all). The salad lettuce was also wilted a bit. However, our meals were hot and very flavorful. Service happened to be very slow but servers were unattentive and having been there two hours I was offered water once. The ambiance was great as far as the music they had a great playlist. read more

Well they almost didn't get this rating . It was our waiter Eddy that sealed the deal . He saw we ( two grown and healthy people) were seated and this tiny circular stool ( I wouldn't even call it a table) . He offered a slightly bigger square stool . I ordered an appetizer ( calamari) I forgot to take a picture of it it was great our waiters recommendations were on point . The restaurant is beautiful and was packed make sure you make reservations. Hoping they get a bigger spot so the customers can be more comfortable. This also includes the bathroom . Live music great atmosphere. read more

Absolutely amazing !! The Ambiance was beautiful live music perfect volume. The service was great from the Table server to the manager to the food runners they all moved with efficiency. The owner is professional and operating with high standards across the board. All that said I give the food a 10/10 EVERYTHING was amazing hats off to the chef and I mean everything! read more

Food was ok, nothing to jump up and down about. Crab cakes were way too small for the price. On person at our table never received her soup. Seems like this should have make and served. 11 ppl at our table had been served, ate their food, and were ready to go and our one guest never received her food. read more

The service was outstanding. Our server, Dana, was incredibly attentive and helped us navigate the menu when my partner and I couldn't decide--there were so many great options. Her recommendations were spot on. Both the food and drinks came out quickly, and everything was absolutely delicious. On top of that, the ambiance was great, with live music that really added to the experience. Overall, a 10/10 experience. We'll definitely be back. read more

Service was good, ambiance is elegant, a lot of potential. We ordered a few things of happy hour (calamari, brussels sprouts, mussels) , collectively the dishes were acceptable. Would either try something different next time, or just get the appetizers completely. I ordered the Rass Prince for dessert. It had mold on it. It was so beautifully presented that you had to know what mold looked like to know that it was mold, definitely prioritized presentation over quality. Not made fresh, which was kind of disappointing. read more

Have talked about trying this place and finally got the chance to. A beautiful restaurant. We had an early dinner (because we didn't have lunch). Delicious food, outstanding service from Javon. The manager checked with us to make sure all was good. I had the stuffed salmon that was out of this world. My husband had the crab soup and then lamb chops. We'll definitely go back and take friends. read more

I was writing this while at the restaurant, Saturday evenings are LOUD, so loud that our waitress could hear what we ordered, I went to the bar before I was seated, it took 40mins to get my appetizer. 30 mins to order, almost an hour for food. But the food was great, every dish was great read more

We went here for my lil sister's birthday and they had a live band. The decorations are pretty but the restaurant isn't functional. The tables are small but it gives an intimate feel. I ordered stuffed salmon with crab and cocktail shrimp it came with chunky mash potatoes and it tastes good. My sister got the fried red snapper and it was hot and delicious. But my other sister ordered the lamb chops and they were tough with chunky mash potatoes the flavor was there but too hard to eat. Overall the restaurant is beautiful I'll give it some time before we go again but I'd say try it out. I forgot about their service, it's a bit slow but they're trying. There's not bread or anything while your waiting so you don't notice how long your waiting until your food come out. And the drinks came out after the food. read more

First coming into the restaurant the welcoming from the greeter she had an attitude which was rude. Then they sat us at a small table that actually sits 4-5 people comfortably and it was 8 of us. I ordered an expresso martini and it was basically Kailua. I had to hold the table down with my feet. The table was unstable it rocked every-time we used the knife. The drinks were not that great. For the money that the food is worth is not good. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. It is so close together with people. I would've gave them 2 stars but they got 1. It took forever for my drink to come along. The Pepsi is sugared down. read more

(2 stars) 55th Birthday Celebration - Reservation for 20 (11/22/25) We booked a reservation at Catherine's for a party of 20 to celebrate a 55th birthday at 7:30 pm. Unfortunately, the experience started going downhill before we even had a chance to order. When our entire group arrived on time, the restaurant already looked packed beyond capacity. By 8:00 pm, we were told only that they were "working on it" and to please be patient. Another patron mentioned their party of 17 also had a reservation and still hadn't been seated. A hostess, Nina, even admitted the restaurant was overbooked. At 8:25 pm--nearly an hour after our reservation--only half of our group was seated. The table wasn't set at all: no glasses, napkins, or silverware. The rest of the party stood around with no direction or updates from staff. The birthday honoree had to ask multiple times for information. The atmosphere felt chaotic, and the staff visibly stressed. Food orders for the entire group weren't taken until around 8:50 pm, almost an hour and twenty minutes past our reservation time. Still no water on the table. Several other large parties appeared just as unhappy, and the small size of the restaurant meant seated guests were being squeezed by crowds still waiting to sit. Now for the positives: the restaurant itself is beautiful, with great ambiance. Once we finally had a table, the servers did a very good job. The food was genuinely great. However, that didn't make up for the earlier mismanagement. To top everything off, water began dripping from the ceiling onto the birthday girl's head and shoulder. Overall, while the food and atmosphere were impressive, the handling of reservations, lack of communication, and overall disorganization made this celebration far more stressful than it should have been. Not the experience we hoped for. read more

I've been looking forward to dining here ever since I learned they were coming to the area. I was even more excited when I saw that the menu featured tomahawk steak as that's my favorite cut of steak. My friend and I started with the jerk chicken bruschetta. The portion size was tiny. It came with 2 small hard pieces of bruschetta, each with a chicken strip and some pieces of corn and maybe tomatoes? The menu says mango was in the dish. I didn't see or taste any. The happy hour price was $9. The taste was ok, but the value was lacking based on the portion size. Now for the tomahawk. It was extremely disappointing. I expected so much more from an amazing cut of meat, and it completely under delivered. The entire meal was bland and unimaginative. The steak was bland, the potatoes were bland, and the asparagus...well it was asparagus. I'm slightly angry that the cow died for what they served me. The steak and potatoes were served in a lightly flavored gravy, but there wasn't enough to save the dish. They could've done so much more. It was such a missed opportunity. Given the cuisine, restaurant's concept, and theme, they could've done a light jerk, Caribbean or Italian inspired seasoning (or any type of seasoning tbh), which is what I was expecting. I would recommend saving your money and not getting the tomahawk if you're considering it. It's definitely not worth it. For the positives, the service was good. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The overall vibe was nice. I would definitely return and try other menu items. Skip the tomahawk though. read more

Went on 3/22. The staff were really nice, so was the ambiance and the band was good. The booth seating was too high for the table so it was uncomfortable to eat. The food was good. The cream crab soup is a must!! It was so yummy!! Everything had great flavor. The inferno spaghetti was delicious also just a tiny bit watery for my taste but still had good flavor. The jerk chicken bruschetta was very unique but I did like it, the mangos that were on it were sooo fresh and sweet. Everyone at the table had no complaints. The live band was great and the decor was beautiful. The owner was very attentive and nice. read more

My partner and I tried coming here on a Friday and it was so packed. The wait time was long so we left and returned to this spot midweek. We were seated right away and our server took our drink order within minutes. We ordered octopus as our appetizer and it was delicious. I ordered the lamb shops, another hit for me. My partner ordered the red snapper. The restaurant is nicely decorated & the music was very nice as well. It is nice to have a nice restaurant in the area & we will return and take pics of our food. read more

Food was amazing, a little pricy, but understandable due to today's prices. They didn't have live entertainment when I went however, I was told Caribbean celebrities frequent the location and some have been seen doing free, live, performances on their stage. Though not an enforced rule, the ambiance is opulence, so I suggest making a date-night your visit and dressing to impress. This place is an excellent excuse to tell her/him/they, "Hey babe, throw THAT outfit on that I like tonight, we're stepping out". Happy hour also has really good food, drinks, and deals. I highly recommend everyone trying this place out, even if it's just once. read more

4 of us had dinner last night. 6:30 reservation and we were seated promptly. 2 small tables next to each other, however one was square and one round so tabletop wasn't particularly sufficient. All square would be better. 2 of us had been here so critique coming from a repeat customer. 4 people, 2 wine glasses. No small plates for the appetizers we ordered. Had to ask for both. Jerk Bruschetta was good, cod fritters pretty plain and thin. All 4 entrees were great and portions large. Had to ask that plates get cleared. Ordered a second bottle of wine and waitstaff just put it in wine holder rather than pouring. Weird. We were shocked to see 7% facility fee added to the bill. When questioned, manager said we were the 6th group that brought it up that evening and he was taking it up with owner but not then. While critical, this was my second visit and I also recommended it to another couple last night. Food is great, atmosphere appealing although noise level can be high. It feels like the waitstaff is made of friends and family who don't offer the service level yet that a relatively expensive restaurant should have. The number of glitches can be laughed off only so many times. If corrected, my 3 stars becomes 5. read more

I went Saturday night. The ambiance is great! They did a good job with decor and the live music made me feel like I was in the Caribbean. I gave 3 stars because they've only been open for 2 weeks and have some work to do. Staff was very pleasant however, you will have to wait for your table because stripping and resetting table took forever. Also, my drink wasn't that great. Lemon drop martini. Next time I'll order wine. My rice was dry, not much peas but lamb chops are very good. My husband got the simple and healthy chicken with spinach and mushrooms. That was good! So there's good and bad. I'm sure they will fix these issues. I will be back! read more

Rude hostess & waitresses seated us in a terrible location where the table was so small that it would fit two people and we were a party of 3. When we asked them for another table which was for 4 people, they told us it was reserved and put a reserved sign on it. We also made reservations and were made to wait for half an hour and ignored at our table. I was excited to visit Catherine's on Saturday night to catch up with old friends. The atmosphere was great as was the staff. Unfortunately, the food failed to meet my expectation. Catherine's Caribbean Cuisine in Laurel is a great restaurant with a warm, inviting atmosphere and good service. There is a 90-minute dining limit, but the experience is still enjoyable. The food was very tasty, though the appetizers were quite small, which is the only reason I knocked off one star. The full bar is well stocked, the bathrooms are clean, and they even had a live band this Saturday--the reggae singer was excellent. The décor feels like an upscale restaurant in Jamaica, adding to the authentic vibe. It's a must-try spot! Hello, my experience at Catherine's was in the beginning, a delightful one. The owner is very nice and welcoming and I had the jerk chicken and the vodka sauce spaghetti, which was very good. I then had the Ackee and salt fish with plantain cups, which to me didn't have enough seasoning of taste, all in happy hour. Shout out to Happy Hour . I can say that they did set the stage of a very nice presentable Restaurant with a water filler pond in the middle, so it gives a very great presentation. However, I hope, in the near future that they put Ackee and Saltfish, Cabbage and plantain as a full dish on the menu instead of having to purchase it as a appetizer designed in a cup form. Now upon my getting ready to leave for the evening as I enjoyed my food and the Live band, I encountered on an unfortunate, disrespectful, toxic, and negative behavior of the dark skin bartender (I willfully don't remember her name due to her behavior) who wears the headband around her forehead with her hair hanging down. As I was trying to process the fact that she stated that I had to cover a drink that I had that ordered was not a concern and which was fine. However, her entire "behavior was disrespectful, impatient, and hostile"! She stated to me in a very loud aggressive tone "You had this drink when you were talking to a guy!!!! "Her tone was very loud, disrespectful, hostile, and ignorant, as if she was talking at me and not to me and yelling across the bar! This type of behavior should not be tolerated, especially when a very nice owner is bringing in a volume of customers who are just trying it out for the first time. "She will begin to repel customers instead of attract customers". Due to her unacceptable behavior, had refused to let her ruin my wonderful evening because she appeared miserable and wanted to leave for the night. CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD PROFESSIONAL FROM START TO FINISH. I would appreciate if somebody has a sit down chat with her about how to portray professional customer service, and how to conduct herself appropriately and professionally not like she's "Straight Outta Compton"!! Ghetto with a Capital G! (ghetto)! She will begin to repel customers instead of attracting them to the restaurant because it's one thing that people remember when they go to a place and that is how they were treated. It should not be acceptable behavior, and she was basically acting very ignorant if I need to go any further. In conclusion, I refuse and won't let her negative behavior give me a negative image of the overall restaurant because the other bartenders were very, very nice and it's funny because in the beginning, so was she, but then she started to become very ignorant, nasty, impatient, and hostile towards me . So basically I just looked at her like she had three eyes and went on and paid my bill, but I really would the Manager and/or Owner to address her behavior as soon as possible because it really is unacceptable!! Overall, nice Restaurant. read more

The ambiance was very nice. There is a red carpet outfront. Two gentleman open the door and the set up is nice. The live band was reallt nice. We went on Saturday evening. I ordered lamb chops and my husband ordered jerk chicken with red beans and rice on the side. The lamp chops were delicious. The jerk chicken is better with the sauce and the red beans and rice were dry. The service was very slow but our waiter was really nice and personable. So it was ok however it was not packed so my concerned is if the restaurant was packed the service would be even slower. The biggest reason for a three was after we finished eating the wait staff cleared our table which is expected but then came back and set our table while we were still sitting there listening to the live music. I have never experienced that ever! This made us feel like they wanted us to leave so therefore we did. Please note we only sat there for about twenty minutes after we were done eating. The live show is from 6-10pm and we finished around 7:30pm. I would go back because its still new and I think they can work out the kinks. read more

Went for the first time. Got the mussels for an appetizer and it had a hard piece of plastic in there. Server offered to make another order but we had already ate most of them. Water tasted like chemicals and got a bottle water instead. Rum punch was watered down. Was charged for the punch and the liquor which was more than it was advertised and server told us the liquor was out of stock and I didn't appreciate that. Honestly, with all the options I would give them some time to get it together before going back. No manager check ins. Very subpar. Beautiful decor. Food runners need to learn table numbers. Two of us dined for brunch on a Saturday. Great ambience, food was tasty. Service fairly good. Red carpet entrance helps you find it. Lovely décor. Ordered: Island Cod Fritters, Crab and asparagus omelet and the oxtail lasagna. Oxtail lasagna was good but a little dry. To be fair, I would order it again. The sauce around the lasagna was excellent. Highly recommend the bread pudding it was so good. White linen table cloths. We were seated very close to the entrance. Wish them the best. I will try them again. My recommendation to the manager: 1) The font on the small brunch menu was definitely not ADA compliant. It has burnt orange font on a black glossy background. It was very difficult to read. The compliant was not new to the waiter. 2) Wait staff was mature and courteous but needed to do a better job of checking the table and making sure there is enough room for the next course. It is not my job to move dishes around to accommodate the next arriving course. The gent bringing the food was just that - he was told to take it to table # and that, he did. But there was no room for more dishes at table #. Somehow serving food and picking up dirty dishes by the same person on the same trip did not seem safe. read more

This place is a joke! Service was awful. (it was not even crowded) We sat at the bar and the bartenders saw us sitting there and didn't ask us for help or assistance. They were having personal conversations about hair care. After 25 minutes I yelled can I get help!? After I finally get help the bartender had an attitude like she was doing me a favor getting a beer for me. This is a amateur restaurant at best, the food taste and presentation looks messy and taste like a kid did it. (not professional at all) The owner should walk around and ask customers if they are being treated well by workers. There is a mandatory 20percent tip for this bad service. So for one domestic beer I paid $10. Ridiculous. The other reviews you see are fake and from owner friends. You do better off going to a fast food joint. read more
