We went here for my lil sister's birthday and they had a live band. The decorations are pretty but the restaurant isn't functional. The tables are small but it gives an intimate feel. I ordered stuffed salmon with crab and cocktail shrimp it came with chunky mash potatoes and it tastes good. My sister got the fried red snapper and it was hot and delicious. But my other sister ordered the lamb chops and they were tough with chunky mash potatoes the flavor was there but too hard to eat. Overall the restaurant is beautiful I'll give it some time before we go again but I'd say try it out. I forgot about their service, it's a bit slow but they're trying. There's not bread or anything while your waiting so you don't notice how long your waiting until your food come out. And the drinks came out after the food. read more

I hate to say I was disappointed during my visit for dinner to Catherine's. The greeter at the front was friendly and we were promptly seated, but the dining area was extremely hot and stuffy when we arrived. It did eventually cool down, but it made the start of the experience uncomfortable. We also waited quite a while to place our order and the food took some time to come out. Unfortunately, the tray tipped over and two of our meals fell. I completely understand that things happen in the service industry, but I would have appreciated some form of service recovery without having to ask for it. On a positive note, we didn't wait too longer for our new meals to arrive. The food and drinks were good. The rum punch was strong in the best way, and the oxtail lasagna was unique and delicious. We had such a pleasant date night at Catherine's last night. The restaurant is stunning with the huge wall of Momma Catherine. The heart made of instruments and the pond with the stage From the lighting to chairs to flooring everything works so well together to create an ambiance of luxury and comfort at the same time. The service was amazing. A red carpet and staunches greeted us at the entry and someone opened the door for us. We were immediately greeting by a host and she guided us to our seats. Our wait person Eddie, knew the menu extremely well and provided top notch service. Even Rodolpho who brought our dishes seemed as if he took pride in his job. Now to the food. We both had the ceasar salad. It was the perfect amount of each ingredient. You mat think its hard to mess up a ceasar salad but I've had bad ones. This one is delicious. I had the oxtail lasagna. Sooooo yummy. The flavor is great and there's a creaminess to it that takes it up a level from a normal lasagna. My hubby had the jerk salmon and he said it was great and has a lil kick to it. The ambiance was nice and the greeter with the England accent was delightful. The decor was vibrant and gave you a glimpse of the Caribbean. The mural was very nice of Catherine and our waiter told us it was the owners' mother. Our server was very nice and worked very hard to make sure we were satisfied. If I recall his name was Daniel or Danny (maybe). He was Spanish and provided excellent customer service, very professional. The food was just okay. We ordered Jerk wings which the wings were super tiny, like the bird was born that morning. They only give you four (4) jerk wings but the other flavored wings you get six(6). The jerk was a sauce and wasn't that tasty. Also, we had the peas and rice, fried plantains, and shrimp and they were okay too. To drink, we had the smoke old fashion and passion fruit martini and they were nice. I was taken aback when the check arrived for our party of two and they automatically added 18% gratuity, especially when the menu had language that gratuity would be added to large parties. I am sick and tired of patronizing these black Resturants that don't trust their customers to tip appropriately. I always give 20% or more. It offends me so much that I usually keep it at the automatic gratuity because it is the audacity for me! However, our server was so kind that I could not do that to him, so I tip 25%. Legally, you need to update your menu gratuity language if you are going to apply it to all parties despite the number of the party. I really enjoyed Catherine's! The staff is really friendly and the owner comes to check on every table. The atmosphere really brings the Caribbean vibe with an upscale twist. I've been for dinner and at lunch time. For dinner I highly recommend making a reservation, as it's really busy. During Lunch time we were seated right away. There are some menu items that they have that aren't on the menu, they are still working through the opening months. I'd recommend the crab soup, Rasta pasta, mussels, and oxtail lasagna! read more

I went to try out the Sunday Brunch menu but I was not really a fan of the options for brunch but we decided to try out the Crepe's, steak and eggs and French toast. Everything was pretty basic and the steak and eggs were not seasoned at all. This was unfortunate but we heard great things about the dinner menu and decided to stay a little longer. We ordered the Oxtail lasagna and chicken wings. The chicken wings were actually a little high seasoned but good and the oxtail lasagna was pretty good! Service was pretty great and the waiter was very aware, knowledgable and making sure we were satisfied! Their recommendations never missed -- not one time. Drinks flowing, timing perfect, energy warm and welcoming. By the third visit they already knew the vibe and made us feel like longtime regulars. This weekend I had: Codfish fritters Oxtail Lasanga Jerk Chicken Tators (I'm not a sauce person, but the hubby enjoyed) Chicken and waffles Short Rib Hash Ackee and Saltfish with festival You know a place is good when you leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit before you reach the parking lot. I decided to visit with a friend on Saturday night. The hostess could not find our reservation, so calling in advance to confirm might be helpful, but eventually we were able to seated. We sat somewhat close to the band, so it was difficult to hold conversation with the music playing but I actually enjoyed the band. The service was pretty slow. I also ordered a side dish that never made it to the table even after notifying my waiter. However, I believe I counted less than 5 waitstaff in the dining room throughout my entire visit so I think service would likely be better with more help. I had the Curry Snapper, and felt it was okay. The cocktails I chose were a bit sweet for my tastes, but if I'm already in the area and decide to visit again it would be to grab a few drinks at the bar. read more

I will be returning! It's nice to see Laurel gaining some authentic elevated cuisines. The place is still fairly new - When you walk in you're immediately greeted with the vibrant decor. They had creative touches throughout that gave it an elegant yet still relaxed theme; some of which I haven't seen in other establishments before which was nice. There was a wide variety of seating options. You can choose between the bar, high tops, large lounge tables, 2-seaters, and booths. The food was DE-licious. So so good. For the appetizers, we tried the jerk chicken bruschetta, cream of crab soup, and their honey old bay wings. All 10/10. For the entrees we got lamb chops and the Rasta pasta with crab. Both 10/10. Only thing I can say is that in the crab dishes I did come across quite a few shells but it was so tasty that I didn't care too much. I visited this past Sunday for my, what was supposed to be my birthday dinner. The place is beautiful, I think they did a good job with the decor and creating a festive, romantic ambiance. There was a musician there as well bringing the caribbean vibes on r&b classics. We arrived 6:10pm, and was seated right away. The issue is we left at 7pm and our drinks never even made it to the table. It was busy so I tried to give the benefit of the doubt but it took 20 minutes for a server to approach our table. There were two couples that came after us already with drinks and appetizers by time we got waters at 6:35pm. We ordered the honey old bay wings and cream of crab apps along with two glasses of wine. The runner brung our appetizers by 6:45 ish and we still had to wait to eat because our table didn't have utensils. A nice gentleman came over to our table a few minutes later with the utensils in the bus tub. My boyfriend tracked our server down for the check and a to go box. This experience was pretty disappointing for my birthday and the food actually looked really good it's just a shame the service was THIS slow... well at least for us and that we couldn't enjoy our experience here. *auto gratuity without service. read more

This is a very upscale restaurant with an amazing ambiance. We were met by a man outside who opens the door for every guest by way of red carpet. There was soft music playing from a saxophonist who was accompanied by a deejay. I really appreciated that the music wasn't overbearing! The food was no short of amazing. We ordered lamb chops, which were seasoned to perfection, with potatoes, mussels, calamari, chicken wings, and a crab cake. I will say that the crab cake was a little on the mushy side but wasn't unbearable to eat. The potatoes could have had a little more seasoning but salt and pepper did the trick. Our waitress, Keisha, was very attentive, professional, and patient. She made sure we got everything we asked for and didn't miss a beat. Catherine's is a new, viral restaurant that came up on my feed several times when it was opening. I decided to finally try it and have a few pros and cons: Pros: -the owner or manager walks around to ensure his guests are satisfied -the food is affordable and good, not mind blowing, but good. the oxtail lasagna was my favorite dish. -they have a live band! (i didn't realize they would have one until i got inside, but they were playing and singing all my favorite reggae and dancehall hits so it was the perfect vibe.) -they have a red carpet and doorman to make your entrance feel special Cons: -not sure whether they are trying to be more of a lounge than primarily a restaurant. they had so many low top and high top dining tables in the middle of several booth seating areas (like sections) that made it feel a little awkward to come just to eat. next time i would opt for the bar, carry out, or come early when it's less busy. -the restaurant got super smoky so they had to open the doors to the outside to ventilate. that also made the atmosphere a little uncomfortable and people kept walking in and out of the outside patio (not fully developed with any seating or tables, it's just concrete at the time I went) so there was just way too much going on for what was supposed to be an elevated dining experience -there was also not much room for a dance floor but some patrons made a dance floor on the open space by the bar and almost bumped into our food on our table because of how tight the space was. i don't mind people dancing but there are way too many tables to have room for that. servers also had to go through that area so it just felt like a hazard. if they want to encourage dancing, i think they should remove some tables or have the dance floor area not be a high traffic area. -the service was friendly but our food and drinks took awhile to come. I saw some servers milling about so i was confused by the slowness to even get our order started. I hope it has improved since I tried it, as it definitely has potential to be an amazing spot if they button up things a bit more. read more

He saw we ( two grown and healthy people) were seated and this tiny circular stool ( I wouldn't even call it a table) . He offered a slightly bigger square stool . Food was amazing, a little pricy, but understandable due to today's prices. They didn't have live entertainment when I went however, I was told Caribbean celebrities frequent the location and some have been seen doing free, live, performances on their stage. Though not an enforced rule, the ambiance is opulence, so I suggest making a date-night your visit and dressing to impress. This place is an excellent excuse to tell her/him/they, "Hey babe, throw THAT outfit on that I like tonight, we're stepping out". Happy hour also has really good food, drinks, and deals. First coming into the restaurant the welcoming from the greeter she had an attitude which was rude. Then they sat us at a small table that actually sits 4-5 people comfortably and it was 8 of us. I ordered an expresso martini and it was basically Kailua. I had to hold the table down with my feet. The table was unstable it rocked every-time we used the knife. The drinks were not that great. For the money that the food is worth is not good. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. It is so close together with people. I would've gave them 2 stars but they got 1. (2 stars) 55th Birthday Celebration - Reservation for 20 (11/22/25) We booked a reservation at Catherine's for a party of 20 to celebrate a 55th birthday at 7:30 pm. Unfortunately, the experience started going downhill before we even had a chance to order. When our entire group arrived on time, the restaurant already looked packed beyond capacity. By 8:00 pm, we were told only that they were "working on it" and to please be patient. Another patron mentioned their party of 17 also had a reservation and still hadn't been seated. A hostess, Nina, even admitted the restaurant was overbooked. At 8:25 pm--nearly an hour after our reservation--only half of our group was seated. The table wasn't set at all: no glasses, napkins, or silverware. The rest of the party stood around with no direction or updates from staff. The birthday honoree had to ask multiple times for information. The atmosphere felt chaotic, and the staff visibly stressed. Food orders for the entire group weren't taken until around 8:50 pm, almost an hour and twenty minutes past our reservation time. Still no water on the table. Several other large parties appeared just as unhappy, and the small size of the restaurant meant seated guests were being squeezed by crowds still waiting to sit. Now for the positives: the restaurant itself is beautiful, with great ambiance. Once we finally had a table, the servers did a very good job. The food was genuinely great. However, that didn't make up for the earlier mismanagement. To top everything off, water began dripping from the ceiling onto the birthday girl's head and shoulder. Overall, while the food and atmosphere were impressive, the handling of reservations, lack of communication, and overall disorganization made this celebration far more stressful than it should have been. I've been looking forward to dining here ever since I learned they were coming to the area. I was even more excited when I saw that the menu featured tomahawk steak as that's my favorite cut of steak. My friend and I started with the jerk chicken bruschetta. The portion size was tiny. It came with 2 small hard pieces of bruschetta, each with a chicken strip and some pieces of corn and maybe tomatoes? The menu says mango was in the dish. I didn't see or taste any. The happy hour price was $9. The taste was ok, but the value was lacking based on the portion size. Now for the tomahawk. It was extremely disappointing. I expected so much more from an amazing cut of meat, and it completely under delivered. The entire meal was bland and unimaginative. The steak was bland, the potatoes were bland, and the asparagus...well it was asparagus. I'm slightly angry that the cow died for what they served me. The steak and potatoes were served in a lightly flavored gravy, but there wasn't enough to save the dish. They could've done so much more. It was such a missed opportunity. Given the cuisine, restaurant's concept, and theme, they could've done a light jerk, Caribbean or Italian inspired seasoning (or any type of seasoning tbh), which is what I was expecting. I would recommend saving your money and not getting the tomahawk if you're considering it. It's definitely not worth it. For the positives, the service was good. I went Saturday night. The ambiance is great! They did a good job with decor and the live music made me feel like I was in the Caribbean. I gave 3 stars because they've only been open for 2 weeks and have some work to do. Staff was very pleasant however, you will have to wait for your table because stripping and resetting table took forever. Also, my drink wasn't that great. Lemon drop martini. Next time I'll order wine. My rice was dry, not much peas but lamb chops are very good. My husband got the simple and healthy chicken with spinach and mushrooms. That was good! This place is a joke! Service was awful. (it was not even crowded) We sat at the bar and the bartenders saw us sitting there and didn't ask us for help or assistance. They were having personal conversations about hair care.After 25 minutes I yelled can I get help!? After I finally get help the bartender had an attitude like she was doing me a favor getting a beer for me. This is a amateur restaurant at best, the food taste and presentation looks messy and taste like a kid did it. (not professional at all) The owner should walk around and ask customers if they are being treated well by workers. There is a mandatory 20percent tip for this bad service. So for one domestic beer I paid $10. Ridiculous. The other reviews you see are fake and from owner friends. You do better off going to a fast food joint. read more
