Stopped in on way home from Cali for a tasty treat and wasn't disappointed. So many flavors to choose from! I went with Red Velvet which was perfect! Also got a Chunky Monkey which was banana nut and chocolate. The cupcake was delicious but the frosting was a bit too sweet. This was the first time I didn't finish all my frosting but I wouldn't hold it against them. I plan to return. read more

Catherine's Cupcakery is the only place anyone should consider getting cupcakes from in Yuma! I had used them once before for a work charity event but had not been able to have a cupcake myself (everyone swarmed the cupcake cart and they were all gone within 5 minutes!!) Using this as a clearly positive sign, they were the first place that came to mind when I needed cupcakes in a pinch for my wedding reception. Our San Diego wedding had been canceled 5 days out due to the corona virus so my fiancé and I had 5 days to plan an "elopement" and we wanted desert for our small reception in my dads backyard. My mom and I went into the cupcakery 3 days before our impromptu wedding and spoke with the staff. They were so kind and sweet and ready to work with us during the uncertain times. We all got a game plan for pick up time and date and what we would do if the city implemented more restrictions before then. No other restrictions were mandated so we were able to pick up our order of three dozen the day before, refrigerate them and served them at our "reception" the next day. THEY WERE DELICIOUS! Everyone was asking where we had ordered them and not one person left without trying all three different flavors. Long story short, Catherine's Cupcakery is the best!! We will be customers for life!! I tried 3 different flavors of these cupcakes at a birthday party last week. The red velvet one was way too sweet. It didn't even taste like red velvet. The coconut covered one had a weird lemon creme filling, the flavors tasted awful. I also tried the peanut butter chocolate cupcake which the cake was hard and cold, not fresh. The cupcakes are advertised as being gourmet! Ha! No way! Sadly, you can find better cheaper cupcakes elsewhere. I'm just glad I didn't pay for them because I would have definitely asked for a refund. Not impressed and would not recommend. read more

The frosting tasted so dry and dense, as if it was a poor attempt at doctoring a Betty Crocker can of frosting. Also the frosting left this weird licorice aftertaste but it was suppose to be a vanilla cupcake with buttercream birthday frosting. The actual cake part was so dense and dry-it was over cooked by a good 15-20 minutes and even past that had absolutely no flavor to it. We paid $2.50 +tax and my 5 year old son took one bite and wouldn't eat anymore. I have never seen a 5 year old not eat a cupcake. Also the drinks they sell are from the dollar store. The canned coffee is 2/59cents at the dollar store and they are charging you $3. We were lured in by the sign that they were now selling Thrifty ice cream BUT by no surprise they had absolutely no ice cream! I have lived I Yuma my entire life and my family grew up operating a small business, so I try and buy and support local as much as possible. However, this place is s joke! read more

Dropped by while visiting Yuma and picked up the lemon, chocolate peanut butter, carrot cheesecake and red velvet. The lemon was a bit moist but loved the hint of salty flavor in the icing. The chocolate and red velvet cupcakes were so moist and fluffy, totally hit the spot. Red velvet would be even better if it was denser with cream cheese but still very good. It's about time Yuma got a cupcake place! This little gem is not only adorable and well-priced, but the cupcakes are fresh, moist, and full of flavor. The menu offers a wide range of options, considering this is a brand new business in a not-so-busy part of town. My favorite in the banana walnut, but I also love the Snickers cupcake and have heard others rave about the red velvet. The woman working whom I believe is the owner was super friendly as well! I only hope this place overcomes the Yuma curse of new small specialty shops not doing well and stays in business for a long time! read more

I was looking for fantastic cupcakes for my daughter's birthday and Catherine's didn't disappoint! I ordered 3 dozen for the party and they were devoured by everyone who raved about how amazing and moist they were. We got the Red Velvet cupcakes which were a huge hit with the adults, the Rocky Road cupcakes and the Triple Chocolate cupcakes that were what all the kiddos wanted. I chose to place an order at Catherine's Bakery for cupcakes that I needed for Police Appreciation Week. I called and placed the order over the phone and then went in about an hour later to pay for them. The girl that I placed the order with told me that what I was asking for, all black frosted cupcakes with a row of navy blue frosted cupcakes, to represent "back the blue" was possible and they would be ready at 11:00am the next day. When I went in to pick up the cupcakes, I was given bright blue, pretty much baby blue frosted cupcakes. The girl, nonchalantly said, "oh we couldn't make the color navy blue, sorry." Now normally, I wouldn't make a fuss about the color of a cupcake, but when you pay 60.00 for two dozen cupcakes, you expect them to turn out the way you want them too, or at least be given a courtesy call and a chance to cancel the order in time to place another somewhere else. I was very disappointed in not only the lack of interest and customer service, but the product as well, this order was important, I was very excited to do this for my husbands shift at the police department, but we all were less than impressed. read more

I happened to see this little bakery driving by and had to stop. I am a sucker for cupcakes but I am also very picky with cupcakes. I went for the bodacious banana nut. It was amazing!! When I entered the shop, I was greeted by the mostly lovely woman. She was so nice and explained everything. She made it a joy just to be there. The cupcake was fantastic. The frosting was not overly sweet and the nuts were good size not just blended in. I will definitely be back for more!! read more

First, the service is lacking. I walked in and the cashier was on a personal phone call and the lady behind the counter gave a lackluster greeting that sounded like she was annoyed that a customer had arrived. Their price list was hard to find and their display case was nearly empty. I picked out two cupcakes (the red velvet and the maple bacon) and she had to top the red velvet cupcake with a raspberry because it was done already. That was a first. Two cupcakes were over $5.00 and they weren't even that big. The checkout lady had to finish her personal phone call to help me out then began to discuss personal issues with me. While I smiled politely, this is extremely unprofessional and made me extremely uncomfortable. The cupcakes themselves each weighed about the same as a $10 roll of quarters. The icing was cracking and TOO rich. My husband, who has a major sweet tooth, had to throw the maple bacon away because the icing was hurting his teeth. The red velvet had NO cream cheese in the frosting and was incredibly heavy. The cupcakes I get from the chain grocery stores around town are so much better and cheaper than these. The cupcakes were not good, not good at all. They were dry and had a hint of burnt taste also. The icing seemed unnaturally thick and had a weird taste. The cupcakes were surprisingly small for the price. At first look, they are not cute and creative as you would expect from a bakery specialising in cupcakes. We ordered, lemon, peanut butter, triple chocolate and cookies and cream. They were not moist and a bit dry. The pb ones and lemon one had a confusing flavour. The triple chocolate was decent, but by all means nothing amazing. The lemon and chocolate frostings were the best out of all four flavours. Would I go back..... No. We were not wowed.
