The facility itself was so tranquil and marvelous that I honestly could have spent all day relaxing there myself. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. When I came in with my crying cat (she hates the pet carrier) they leapt to make her as comfortable as quickly as possible. That meant the world to me. It's a wonderful spot but more importantly, our Molly is back with her favorite groomer. The care she takes in the lion cut that Molly gets is unparalleled. Plus, they are even more efficient with the cut, meaning kitty is usually done in under 2 hours. Do yourself a favor and have your kitty groomed at the wonderfully named Cateau Marmont. By far the absolute BEST haircut my cat has ever had! He looks so handsome. I took my very large Ragdoll Bosley in for a "kitten cut" today and I could not be happier (Boz is pretty thrilled too). I had been getting my boy a Lion's Cut for years. Often, his hair would look choppy and there were even a couple of instances where the previous groomer cut him. Not this time though. The owner Jennifer suggested the kitten cut instead and it turned out SO good. The groomer Kirsten is top notch. When I picked up Boz, I asked Jennifer if I could see the rest of the facility. This place is GREAT! I hung out for a good 15 minutes, petting the "guest kitties" and admiring what a wonderful getaway this would be for any cat. From the fish tank, to the birds on the TV, to the sun room and private bungalows...this is THE place to bring your felines when going out of town. THANK YOU ladies for a great experience. This place is amazing. I came here because of Tami. She was my tech with a vet I used to use and when she left the vet, I left too (along with all 7 of my fur babies)! That is how good she is.She is kind and loves your animals like her own. I would trust her with their life. I had my cat groomed by Kirsten. She was so professional and did an outstanding job on my cat. She was so careful and even checked in with me a few times when she noticed a cut and a scratch on my cat (yes I had attempted to cut out the mats myself...a big no no). My cat looks adorable and smells so good. I am bringing my other cat to her soon. I was able to take a tour of the place and saw the cats walking around like they owned the place. Looks like a nice place for boarding but never going back for a grooming. They buzzed my cats hair too short even though we told them exactly what we were looking for. Also, oddly enough after grooming, my cat stopped purring. It's horrible to not having him purr when he was such a massively loud purrer. Must have been a very traumatic experience for him (he's usually a very chill and extremely loving cat). It's been a few months so his hair has grown but his purr is not back. The groomer said they don't tie them around the neck so we're not sure why he's not purring anymore. Vet is at a loss too. So odd read more

Cateau Marmont is wonderful! We tried this place out in December and we couldn't be happier. Our cat Norbert is a black cat and can be very feisty. In fact, he acted out when we dropped him off. The staff at Cateau immediately made us feel better and they posted a ton of photos which was so appreciated. The site is really nice and they offer so much love for our furry friends. Our cat started having flea problems over Summer. While we had no idea where he got it from,(he hasn't been outside the house for years!) I kept getting incredibly itchy bites that just didn't seem to go away. The flea collar we got from Amazon didn't seem to work, either. :( Most of the pet grooming places in L.A. is more focused in dogs, so when we found Cateau Marmont and that they had organic flea treatment option, we decided to take him to the place right away. The place is a cat heaven. You can really see that they designed the place so that cats can play and hang out comfortably. The staffs were very sweet and knowledgeable. Not only did they got rid of his fleas, they informed us about how to prevent fleas, and take care of our little guy better. They even let me pet an adorable little guy named Mason :D I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. My only thing is that we had to come in 30 minutes earlier bc somehow they messed up the schedule :(. Other than that, the experience was very pleasant and the cat's definitely in a better mood now! read more

This place is amazing!!! We've tried several cat-only boarding places all around Los Angeles over the years, but we've had the best experience at Cateau Marmont. When I came back to pick up my cat after a couple of weeks, he didn't want to leave! The staff was great about texting me photos and updates every so often so I could keep up with how he was doing. And though I didn't try it, you can even Skype with your cat if you want. He came back happy and healthy, and we will definitely be using Cateau Marmont from now on. Let me start off by saying I had high hopes of becoming a regular here for our kitty as my boyfriend and I travel for work. The overall look of the place was nice, tv for cats, cat trees. My boyfriend checked in our cat for about a week and a half. I was told i would get updates and pictures. Never did. Upon drop off, we were greeted by a woman. Seemed rushed to get us out of there quickly. I was looking forward to seeing my kitty with the other cats. I brushed it off, thinking they were probably busy. But please don't promise things that cant be fully full filled. Picking up my cat was where i drew the line and decided to never use their service again. My boyfriend and I arrived at our appointed time but were left knocking on their door for a few minutes with no one answering the door. We thought they were closed. Finally a young girl, higher than a kite and smelled like straight out weed,answered the door. What was worse was that she introduced herself as the owner. Very unprofessional and horrible way to make a first impression. Made me and still makes me question how my cat was taken care of. I wasn't given much feedback on my cat. I didn't feel like i was an appreciated customer. I will not be coming back. Two days later i noticed an open cut on my cat so i took him to my Vet who confirmed it was a cat bite. I dont have any other cats in my house and my cat is an indoor only cat so most likely the bite happened at Cateau Marmont. I was never called to inform me of the incident, definitely was not informed at pick up. After seeing the condition of the employee at pick up, I now see why i was never told. For anyone considering this establishment, please do your research and really observe. Our pets are our children and we cant just leave them with anyone. Anyone can put up modern furniture and a paint job and call themselves a cat hotel but quality of service is something that takes actually having passion for and love for animals. Update: In response to the comment left by Macually S. I was contacted by a Jen S through yelp messenger, I am a little confused as the Jen S profile stated to be a 46 year old woman and Macually was her 26 year old daughter. In my original review, if read correctly and thoroughly , i never accused any middle aged woman to being "high as a kite" I stated that upon PICK UP ( picking up my cat when my reservation ended) i was greeted by a YOUNG GIRL (who stated she was the owner), who was very much indeed under the influence, as I work in the pharmaceutical industry, I know the difference between a topical scent and usage of cannabis. In her private message sent to me, Jen S. stated why i never reached out to management, well if I am being greeted by the owner herself when my boyfriend and I went to pick up my cat, why would i ask for a manager???? As for me not contacting them in regards to my cat having a wound, I honestly just wanted nothing to do with this establishment again. I wasn't looking for a refund, discount, or as the person who contacted me put "some kind of comfort", but a simple notification/ update on the incident when it happened would have been suffice as any pet owner would greatly appreciate and value. Lastly, I was not able to quickly respond back to the private message sent to me due to me being a working individual and not having immediate access to Yelp and as for me contacting the phone number given, there's no need as I already addressed the core of my experience with the service you provided. When our favorite cat groomer, Kirsten, disappeared from the Best Little Cat House, we were distraught, so imagine how delighted we were to find out that not only was she still grooming, but doing so at such an AMAZING facility. Kirsten is as great as ever and gave our cat her annual lion's cut as quickly and superbly as ever. But what's really exciting is that LA has another cage free boarding option, and at such reasonable prices. What's more is that everything has clearly been designed from the ground up for your cat to have a great time while you're out of town. I ran across this amazing kitty retreat by pure luck. I had been calling and yelping for the best cat grooming places. I have a very anxious Maine coone mix girl that started to shed and needed a groomer asap. I called and spoke to a wonderful lady who was so sweet and answered all my questions. I had a bunch of questions and worries. I had an appointment at another place and the ladies said that if my Sasha was uncontrollable I would have to have the vet sedate her. I wasn't very happy with that. But all my fears and questions were answered in such a positive tone at this new place and I was reassured she would be in great hands. I didn't realize I was speaking with the owner. They booked my appointment. Sasha has had a reputation at her vets and is not fond of the carrier. But as soon as we got out of the car and walked in she was so calmed. The owner and her daughter greeted her and Kristen took her in to try to groom her and give her a lion cut. To my amazement Sasha was happy and at ease. Kristen is like a cat whisperer. When they called me about an hour later I thought I was going to get bad news. I feared she misbehaved and they weren't successful. To my surprise the owner told me she was all done and ready to be picked up. They did such an amazing job. I was so happy!!! My Sasha kitty looked so adorable. I definitely recommend their grooming services. I haven't tried any other service but I'm sure it will also be superb. Cute place. I cannot write enough here to sing the praises of Cateau Marmont the way I would like. They are simply THE BEST! My cat is quite literally my baby. He means the world to me and I stress every time my husband and I have to go out of town. Usually, Theodore stays with my close friend in her home but this time, my friend was unavailable. After driving by and sort of stumbling on the place, hubby and I decided to go in. First of all, the place is spotless. Jennifer, the owner, is kind and obviously cares a great deal about the space she has created. She took her time showing us all of the various rooms and features. It is a playground for cats, for sure! After hearing about my concerns because Theodore had a terrible prior experience boarding at the vet, Jennifer allowed us to bring him in the next day for a 45-minute trial. That was the best. I could see for myself how Theodore coped with the new environment and the other cats and it put both of us at ease. And to take it over the top, Jennifer's daughter McCaulley (spelling?) made time in her schedule to be there that morning to meet Theodore because she helps to take care of the cats. My husband and I were so impressed by that level of dedication! We booked our stay and dropped him off about a week later. Because Theodore had already been there, he walked right out of his carrier and made himself at home. Jennifer kept in touch with me throughout his stay with text updates and photos of Theodore relaxing in his balcony, watching the birds, etc. I felt so completely connected to him while we were away and I knew he was getting the best quality care. That's just it - Jennifer doesn't just provide food and shelter for your cat - she cares for them as if they were her own. The experience was priceless. I can't quite get across how much I trust her. My beloved rescue kitty (2-3 years old, American Black Long-Hair) developed substantial matted fur balls (super hard and dense) and could not clean herself properly and also really needed her claws trimmed. After over a month of research and asking around, I found Cateau Marmont -- a true Godsend in every way. This beautiful bungalow facility in Toluca Lake is super easy to get to from anywhere in the Los Angeles area and worth the trip (I drove all the way in from the Westside of LA) and in my opinion has one of the tippity-top Best Cat Groomers in the country -- the lovely, highly skilled and intuitively gifted Kirsten. The craftsmanship of her grooming services -- a stunning Lion's Cut, kitty shampoo-bath and nail trimming is the best I have ever seen in over 35 years of cat rescue and stewardship. She has an amazing intuitive connection with cats that qualifies her as a true kitty whisperer ... as she can work with almost any cat in any condition -- a rare find, indeed. Having many initial concerns about the high sensitivity of my beloved Sweetie Bear, Kirsten was the answer to my many prayers for expert cat grooming assistance. The entire facility is beautiful, soothing and super clean -- a true testament to the owner's (mother and daughter) commitment to providing the highest level of cat boarding and grooming services that I could find. You can really tell when people who run a business actually care and have passion for what they do -- Cateau Marmont is one of those rare finds worth any drivetime to get to and experience. My Sweetie Bear now looks beautiful, is so much more comfortable in her own skin and upon leaving and for days afterward, she smelled fantastic. My calico stayed here for several days (including a bath) while I was out of town, and she was so relaxed and cleaned when I came to pick her up! The environment is not only neat, but there's also a soothing / peaceful feel to it. There are TVs, scratch posts, condos, and windows to keep all the cats entertained. They also fed my cat with high quality grain free/ human grade chicken for a small additional fee. Overall, I plan to return the next time I'm out of town or when she needs a hair cut or bath. The lovely Jennifer invited us into the office from where I could see some kitties walking about, watching TV, and grooming. Moments later, we booked the Presidential Suite for President Miso, our Egyptian cat. We left for ten days. Miso's stay in the Cateau was so wonderful that he barely recognized us upon our return. He had a great time, according to all of the stories we got from the wonderful staff there. Miso is a very demanding cat, and the devoted crew at le Cateau went out of their way to make sure that he enjoyed his stay. A WONDERFUL place to drop your feline friend. Cateau Marmont is THE BEST! Our two extremely fluffy cats appreciate a lion cut during the hot summer months, but I've searched high and low for a stellar cat groomer since my husband and I moved to LA a few years ago. We needed someone who knew how to handle and how to calm our cats during the process. And also someone who could calm my own nerves as I dropped them off for the day. Kirsten at Cateau Marmont did all that and more. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly staff member and asked to wait in the lobby until the groomer could speak with me personally. Kirsten introduced herself shortly and was friendly, funny and knowledgable. She even offered advice on how to make the grooming process less stressful for my cats in the future which I appreciated so much. She really knew her stuff. When I picked them up a few hours later Kirsten was very complimentary of our kitties, even though one of them had been quite the handful. She never made me feel bad about how the cats had behaved, which was such a relief after having to deal with that kind of thing from other groomers we'd tried. Even though one of our cats had been a little "vocal" during his cut, both of them looks absolutely beautiful with their lion cuts! She did a fantastic job! By far the best haircuts they have received since we relocated to California. My cat is extremely dear to me and I wanted to find a pet hotel that was only catering to cats. There are not a lot of businesses that do this and I asked around and was recommended Cateau Marmont. I paid a visit and I immediately fell in love with the place! First off the location is great with plenty of parking. When you walk in you are greeted by some awesome cat art, cat books and a super rad purple couch. Jennifer the owner is really friendly and you can tell that she genuinely loves cats. The cat playground is extremely clean and has tons of wonderful areas and things for cats to climb, not to mention a tv fit with kitty programming . There are plenty of toys and the staff is engaging with the cats making sure they are entertained. I was confident leaving my baby there for the weekend and would totally recommend them with your babies! read more

We brought Snowy in because we heard great things about Kristen, and no one in town will groom Snowy because he's too aggressive or he gets "too nervous." So we've had to deal with those nasty mats and knots and long hair around his behind...which is never good. Okay: My wife and I are not easily impressed and I don't Yelp much. But this play just blew us away. First, Kristen handled Snowy with speed, confidence and efficiency, and for the first time ever he had a proper "sani-cut," which is essentially a trim around the back legs and up. She also removed his mats, all in about ten minutes. Wow. She is a miracle worker...seriously. But beyond that, the beautiful receptionist took us on a tour of the "cat hotel" and it was immaculately clean--like perfectly clean--and totally charming, with each cat in a little "apartment," with a window and even a ledge above the door with climbing access! There was a large "community room" where they let the socialized (non-aggressive) cats out to play with each other at various times during the day. Yes, play-dates for cats. Amazing. We rarely board Snowy--as in never--but if we had to, my wife and I both agreed we could do it at Cateau Marmont. What an establishment this is...friendly, warm, clean. A super-smart and efficient staff. No condescension. No rushing you. No dogs, no dog-smell. Not even a pet smell! It was kind of like running into that perfect hotel room...rare and wonderful.
