This review is for Ashley Farwick, SLP, at Rady's Children's Hospital. She was our child's SLP. on…read morethe feeding evaluation team. Although she is not our child's speech therapist-she went above and beyond in providing resources and referrals for our child. She would message me repeatedly with information about how to enhance our child's social communication, courses that I could take as a parent, and referrals regarding SDRC services. She also kindly offered to connect with our child's regular speech therapist. Her generosity, professionalism, insight, and compassion are remarkable. She did not have to do all of this-and I was so warmed by her overflow of support, insights, and information-that I felt compelled to write this review. I am not a relative and this is not a fake review. Her expertise and knowledge about/experience with the nuances of social communication, food aversions/extreme picky eating, and autism are exceptional. Ms. Farwick has specialized training and experience in working with children with autism, motor speech disorders and feeding difficulties. Ashley is trained in SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, Transactionals Support), PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets), and the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) approach to feeding. She is certified by the Hanen Program to teach the "It Takes Two To Talk" course for parents and has specialized interest in Social Thinking. Ashley is a member of Rady Children's Feeding Team, and she facilitates or co-facilitates a number of group programs, including Feeding Group, Stepping Stones, Gateways, Mommy Daddy & Me, and First Step. I cannot recommend her more highly-she is outstanding in every way. I am so grateful for how she has gone above & beyond to support us. She is a beautiful person-inside and out. I have learned so much from just her messages & the insights she shared during our child's evaluation. Thank you for reaching out on what has otherwise been, a very lonely and intense journey-navigating the ins & outs of autism-related services & getting the best supports for our child who is brilliant, adorable, hilarious, and wifred differently from her parents who desperately want to champion her (and aren't on the spectrum, ourselves). I had been referred to Dr. Wallach and she treated me for a couple of years. After one office…read morevisit, I realized that I needed to ask her a simple question, one that would take under a minute to answer. I called her office, explained my question, and asked to speak with her, or for someone to ask her my question and tell me what she said. She refused to do this, and instructed the person I was speaking with to tell me to make another appointment. In all the time I was treated by D. Wallach, not once did I ever ask her to speak with me on the phone or did I ever call her. I thought what she did was inappropriate, uncaring and unprofessional. Also exploitive; she probably wanted to collect another office visit fee. The next time I saw her, I had a UT infection. I have been treated for this common infection before. She obviously didn't know how to treat this kind of infection. She looked what to do up on her cell phone, and prescribed Bactracin. I told her that I did not believe that Bactracin was the appropriate antibiotic for a UT infection. She told me it would work. It didn't, and my condition worsened, I had two problems: severe pain and the risk of a kidney infection (could be very serious). I called my primary doctor, and he prescribed Cipro or Keflex, and in a couple of days I was fine. Bottom line, she lacked experience with treating a garden variety, common infection, and did as little as possible, either because she couldn't be bothered and did not care about a patient, and/or she wanted to create a billable event.

Becoming parents has been the hardest thing we've ever done, and finding Cristai (and receiving her support) has been absolutely essential. Cristai didn't review my notes before the sleep consult & developed the sleep plan based on an incomplete schedule. During the overnight, baby tasks like washing bottles were left undone, and trash in the nursery wasn't placed in the bin. She didn't clarify a departure plan & woke me up prior to her exit while the baby was still sleeping. She recommended multiple affiliate products, which felt like a conflict of interest. Even with gentle feedback, she was unreceptive to it. Many of her positive reviews seem tied to sleep conditioning or training, which may be more aligned with her strengths. Overall, the experience created more work for us rather than less.
