Eric and his team at PRN were top notch! I tore my ACL graft after a previous ACL surgery. The exercises I were given were aimed at strengthening initially and then moved to more sport specific and I was always asked if the exercises were appropriately challenging and modifications were made as necessary. Once I had completed my rehab it was suggested that I consider some PRP therapy which I did and it was an excellent idea. I hope I will remain injury free but if I don't, I know where to go!!! read more

Great therapists and expertise! Everybody is professional and courteous. Reece and Laura are especially good.

Starts great then goes downhill. The initial sessions are great and informative. After a couple of sessions you get most of the times derived to the interns(?), and doing the same exercise, daily. (1) Not a huge deal, but to do the same things daily, I can do them on my own. But OK. (2) Then, the one-hour sessions start getting trimmed, even to 20 minutes. They still get full pay for the session which, again, I would be able to do on my own. So basically at this point I am just going there 20 minutes so they can bill my insurer. I am also charge co-pay daily, something that my health insurance concierge insists is not correct as I should only have paid for the initial consultation, which is like a doctor visit. After that is just the service, 100% covered. I prefer a little less money but no bad remark on my credit report so I keep paying (not 100% sure on who is right here). Due to the fact that in the end it becomes a waste of time, as I go there for 20-30 minutes to do the same every day, as I can do on my own, I don't do the 12 sessions. Of course, even though I didn't take the last one or two sessions, they still charge my insurance, and send me a balance for my copay. I paid it, and now they keep sending the same balance claiming it was not paid. Funny thing is that the statement they send me clearly show that I did pay the balance they claim. Can't solve it as calling management office you get through the receptionist but the billing team sends you to voicemail directly (been trying for hours, different days). read more

In the last few months, i've been going to PRN in Encinitas for lower back pain. Each time, I am greeted warmly by the receptionist, named Stacey. She always has a smile on her face and gives me her full attention which is very much appreciated. Some of my requests involve some digging on her part, but it never seems to bother her. Despite the busy environment she works in, I feel welcomed. Stacey says, she loves her job and being apart of a winning team. Once I'm admitted, I'm taken back to a private room, NOT the large, busy room with X number of people in it, all working hard on their particular activities. In my case, I'm provided with heat for my back, for at least 2 or 3 minutes. This feels wonderful. Soon, the physical therapist comes in and provides me with a brief massage while helping me stretch those areas that are in pain. In my case, the physical therapist is Reece. He has been doing this for over 30 years and he knows what he is doing. He is very specific in his instructions before he sends me out to the gym to work on particular exercises that he custom designed for me. Often, the exercises require homework. If that is the case, Reece will send me home with a video that I can pull up that reminds me how to do specific exercises. This is very helpful. As you can tell, PRN provides a very positive environment while being very attentive to your specific needs. If you are looking for some answers, PRN is the place I recommend. read more

Casey was able to joke with him and help my son to participate in the therapy by being a "cool guy" in addition to being knowledgeable about my son's issues. I have been a patient for over a year with a knee rehab. This is my first experience with physical therapy but it has been nothing less than exemplary. Reese and his staff are wonderful, super attentive, friendly and helpful. I have been very pleased and the results have been great. Reese has been extremely knowledgeable and gave me honest and frank feedback on my recovery. I was referred by the insurer through a workers comp claim. During the past 4 years I have had 3 separate orthopedic surgeries. The first was a back fusion, L2-L5, then during the past year I had each hip replaced. I have rehabilitated at PRN Encinitas each time. I was amazed at how knowledgeable and caring the staff is. I had been to a few previous PT's for other problems but never received the care I needed. When my back surgeon, Dr. Garfin, recommended Reece at PRN, I was definitely ready to try a new PT. Reece was amazing! He had me walking in record time. About 18 mos later, I began to have some pain so I returned to PRN, this time drawing Eric as my therapist. Eric has the most amazing, healing hands. He helped the immediate problem and off I went until my hip replacement. I believe I saw Eric less than a month after surgery and after a few months working with Eric my hip was great. I had my second hip replaced in May, during the pandemic. Obviously hospitals are filled with sick people and COVID was very frightening in the early stages. I was only in the hospital for 25 hrs because of it, had some home pt, then returned to Eric. This rehab was more difficult for whatever reason and I saw Eric twice per week for almost 6 months. My movement is 100% with only minimal pain. I highly recommend PRN. It's operated like a family; if your particular therapist is tied up during your appointment, another equally qualified person jumps right in to help with your exercises, etc. Everyone is familiar with your rehab, including the aides and students. I also must send kudos to Marvin, the office manager/guy who does everything. He successfully fought with my insurance company for 3 weeks to extend my therapy and I'm forever grateful for the time he put in to help me! I came out limping and unable to drive, in worse shape than when I arrived and spent the rest of the day icing, in bed. The young, untrained assistants who are left unsupervised don't supervise patients through exercises. The Physical Therapist left the untrained assistant with ultrasound equipment that caused damage. I am writing this at 4am. I cannot sleep due to the pain from , not only the ultrasound, but from too aggressive treatment by the Physical Therapist. I walked in with a brace and had seen him several times for this and a related injury, both recently and several months ago (and years ago). I informed him before he injured me further that I felt pain and sensitivity in that area, but he yanked on my leg and hurt it. Then had me do deep bends after it was yanked on. it was not the first time I have been injured by too aggressive Physical Therapy at PRN Encinitas. read more

I have been going to PRN on and off for the last few years and the service here is superior. My dad first came to the office when he broke his shoulder and Eric restored him back to health. I have since seen Eric and I am very pleased by the care he provides. Every time I come into the office, the staff (especially Marvin) is very thorough and professional: icing my knee, assessing my progress, and efficiently leading me through my exercises. Knee pain was keeping me from my favorite activities, hiking and yoga. Eric managed to deduce the issues through asking just the right questions, really listening to the answers, and careful observation. He then put a plan in place that had me hiking without pain in a relatively short time. Marvin was an efficient "jack of all trades" assistant, efficiently moving between processing copays, scheduling appointments and working on the therapy floor setting up hot towels and exercise equipment. Reece Jensen is perhaps the best physical therapist who has ever treated me. I'm 76 years young and Reece has treated me for spinal stenosis for the past four years, as well as other ailments which are minor compared to my spine problem. He has guided and encouraged me along the way to keep up with my exercises, especially the Y pool which literally changed my life for the better thanks to Reece's advice. He is the consummate professional with the most excellent credentials. Reece has more knowledge than most physicians about how the human body "works", I know this because of my long years of suffering with this condition under the care of some M.D.s who have given me poor advice. Reece spends time with me making sure I understand my condition, the importance of therapy as well as the exercises he recommends. The P.T. profession needs more Reece Jensens. read more

After an intense dancing accident that caused my meniscus and acl to be torn, I came to PRN for physical therapy. Reece helped me get back on my feet multiple times when I kept reinsuring myself. When I needed surgery, they were quick to help me heal. I just got off crutches yesterday and am surprised at how quickly I am progressing. I am always looking forward to therapy because it is fun and I know I am closer and closer to finally being healed. Grateful for the staff here, they are always warm and friendly. I went to see Laura Greene for a month of rehab after a bad skating injury left me with a very painful dislocated elbow. Laura is a top notch Certified Hand Specialist and I am now almost fully recovered after just 6 visits. Her kind personality and expertise really put me at ease. The entire staff was friendly, knowlegeable and really encouraged me in my healing process as well as how to stay on track with home exercises in the future. John, Marvin and Kaili are skilled and friendly aides and Angela, the front desk manager helped with complicated billing issues very graciously. Its my first time having PT. I was impressed with the first appt with the massage, evaluation and exercises. on the second visit there was a lot less massage and on the third appt no massage at all. Eric had a female employee show me how to "properly" use the machines and she was showing me a way exactly opposite to what eric told me. he was firm I should never move my arms in the way she was showing me. when I mentioned it to her, she said "oh, i'm showing you this way because I can!" if I had continued to do the movement the way she taught me, I would have further injured my torn rotator cuff. Its disconcerting that the staff would show you how to do an exercise incorrectly. also eric told me he'd get me photos/videos of the exercises before I left on vacation so I could do them properly while gone. he didn't bother emailing until AFTER I left even though he knew i was camping without any internet connection. so I had 2 weeks without being able to work on healing. very disappointed. read more

My daughter was treated by Karen at PRN after a rotator cuff sprain. Wow, what an awesome person she is! It can be hard to communicate with teenagers, but she seems to speak teenager really well! The exercises and treatment plan really made a difference to how my daughter healed. Karen is so present and caring. She developed a relationship quickly with my daughter, and it is one based on knowledge, caring and respect. The support staff at PRN are amazing! Making appointments and talking with the assistants (especially Marvin!), are easy. Reese, whom I believe is the owner, is also very easy to speak with and cool. I had received treatment from Laura years earlier for my elbow tendonitis, and I'm happy to report that I've been well ever since. Reece and the team at PRN are the best! Within 2 years I managed to have two separate accidents in which I completely tore my ACLs, first the right knee and then the left. Both times I went to Reece at PRN for the post-op rehab and in both instances the care I received was excellent. Reece is not only incredibly knowledgable and experienced, but he also listens to his patients and is always happy to address any concerns you may have. Full disclosure - I have gone through 6 orthopedic rehabs with Reece and followed him when he went to PRN Encinitas. In my opinion - and I am an MD - I have never met a better physical therapist or center. They are SMART and CARING and know their business. I still ski, play sports with my kids and operate. My orthopedist is astounded I keep bouncing back but I know my secret weapon is the team at PRN. Make no mistake you will work hard. Recovering from an injury or surgery is never fun, but the team at PRN truly made me look forward to going to PT twice a week. After 5 years of lower back problems, I finally saw a spinal specialist who recommended I try PT rather than surgery. He sent me to PRN. Best move EVER. Very experienced therapists with all the right equipment led allowed me to recover/heal and resume the activities that I previously had to stop - golf, skiing, biking. Throughout the PT process I got to know the entire staff who were all friendly and supportive, motivating me not just to complete my PT, but also to get back into good shape. They took the time to carefully ask questions and listen to my answers as they developed my treatment regimen. They always ensured that I was not in pain or potentially over-exerting, and they kept me focused and on-track.
