My cat stayed here for a week over Thanksgiving & it was fantastic! We got emails and pictures every other day updating us on her stay. Cash was so nice & accommodating (my cat doesn't like other cats). We left our cat with Cash, Lance, and Debbie over Christmas and New Years while we took a vacation abroad. Admittedly, I was nervous - our cat is really shy, hadn't spent much time around other cats, and had never been boarded. We just didn't know how the experience would go. Prior to boarding, Cash spent the time to ask all about our cat's personality and preferences, and introduced us to many of the other boarders. He really knows each and every cat he boards and gives lots of personalized attention to each. While we were traveling, we got email updates and pictures on our cat's activities and progress, which was so comforting to us nervous "parents!" Our cat not only had a great stay, but was returned to us more socialized and calmer overall. We'll definitely board at Cat Villa again the next time we're out of town! read more

I really enjoyed using Cat-Villa to board our cat. It was important to me to find a place that really focused on cats so I knew my Benny would have more than just 24 hours stuck in a small box. They have individuals cubbies for sleeping and eating and then a large screened in indoor-outdoor enclosure with tons of places for cats to lay around all day, toys for them, and mental stimulation. Booking/check in and out was super easy, the boarding facilities were kept very clean, and the owners/staff are very loving to the cats. Staff sent photos and text update too. I highly recommend Cat-Villa. You will rest easy knowing your cat is in good hands and enjoying themselves. read more

We boarded our two cats here for 13 nights (was supposed to be 12 but we had a flight cancellation). On dropoff, we had them in their harnesses for transport and were able to remove one harness, but the other cat was very frightened at the new environment and we couldn't remove hers. Lance assured us that he would remove her harness later that day, so we left her wearing it. We picked up our cats this morning and found that the one cat's harness had NOT been removed for the entire two weeks and had tangled around her, tying her front legs together. She has lost a lot of weight and appeared to have been unable to move due to the tangled harness. Her legs and chest have been rubbed raw and bleeding in several places by the harness because of the way it was tangled and her chewing at it to try to get it off. When we emailed Lance to notify him of our flight cancellation, he confirmed with us that our cats were okay, but the one cat was shy and hadn't come out of her condo much - which we now realize is probably because she couldn't move enough to jump down without causing further pain. This was the ONLY update we received during their entire stay, did not include photos, and had no mention of the harness. We have made an appointment with our vet to check out both of our cats after this ordeal and have the one cat's injuries treated. The vet informed us that harnesses and collars are one of the first and most frequently checked things for any animal because of the danger they can pose. Admittedly, we should have removed our cat's harness when we dropped her off, but we trusted Lance to be capable of doing this once she had calmed down. It seems minor after all this, but the one item we left with our cats - a fuzzy blanket that they love to sleep on - was removed from their "condo" at some point during their stay, and they were left with a smaller and unfamiliar blanket. We didn't ask about this at the time (we were too concerned with the cat having been tangled up for two weeks) but it seems like such a strange thing that must have made their already stressful stay just a little bit worse. We will never be taking our cats back to this facility and we urge anyone to be cautious about boarding your cats here. read more

I am so happy I found the Cat-Villa. When I was going to be traveling to Europe for two weeks I searched and searched for different options of caring for my cat when I wasn't home. I was worried because she was SO SHY and takes a very long time to warm up to people. She is also not very cat like in that she's had the same cat tree for almost 2 years and she only figured out that she can climb on the top two platforms maybe 3 months ago. I found the Cat-Villa and even from the website I could tell that this was the best place I was going to find. After I went and did a tour I was decided that this was where I'd leave my girl. When I first brought her there they put her bed in one of the kennels along with some food. The staff did say that they would keep her closed in the kennel for a few hours so that she would know what food and box area was hers. After she was acclimated a bit more she was let out to roam. They have amazing cat trees and an outdoor area that is truly a cat oasis. While I was gone I was sent email updates and they even sent photos of her once. This really helped put my mind at ease and know that she was enjoying herself. However the best part came once I got her home. She's been so much more social and was even out interacting with our guests on Thanksgiving. She usually hides when guests come and they don't even get a glimpse of her. She's also started using the box part on her cat tree which she had never used before. This is all because of Cat-Villa. Our indoor only cat Fred got outside and returned home with a severe leg injury. After a prolonged hospitalization, that was concurrent with my husband's hospitalization, I decided to board Freddy as I was afraid he might reopen his healing leg wound at home. I boarded Freddy at Cat Villa in Encinitas where Freddy received loving, much needed attention, and additional time to heal under the watchful eyes of Lance and the other human caretakers at Cat Villa. Cat Villa is cleverly decorated with cats and humans in mind. It even has an area where the cats can feel they are outside yet be 100% safe from injury or attack. I received frequent updates and photos of Freddy while he was boarded. There was no question ever in my mind about the wonderful quality of care and love being provided for our Freddy. Freddy came home yesterday and is already missing his new cat friends and the human friends he has made at Cat Villa. I would board Freddy here again and again without hesitation. read more

When my husband and I went on our honeymoon we took our kitty here. She stayed there for 3 weeks and came back happy and healthy. The owners have us updated on how she was doing it was very nice. Hands down, the best place for cats! My boy, deNiro has stayed at the Villa several times and is currently residing there as a temporary home. He has traveled with me from Michigan to Arizona, and now California. Due to the nature of my job, I travel often on temporary short-term assignments. My current living conditions do not include cats :( I am, however, at peace with the fact that he is loved and well taken cared for. Lance is absolutely the best! The patio provides a perfect environment for cats who like the outdoors, the fresh air and bird/critter watching. deNiro has resided at other facilities that cage their cats which is definitely not for him. Cats have total freedom to hang out outside of their cat condos, eat and sleep wherever they please. They can get fresh air on an enclosed outdoor patio or spend their days watching bird videos on TV. There are tones of places to climb and scratch. Lance's cat villa is such a peaceful place. Our boys, Romy and Rafi, first boarded at Cat-Villa last year. It was a first boarding experience for them. Loved that Lance sent us almost daily updates and pics. They just spend a month at Cat-Villa while we had some remodeling at our home. We were encouraged to visit them and we did. They loved the screened porch where they spent most of their time. Having just arrived from Australia, along with our cat- Marvin, I feel incredibly lucky to have found Cat Villa almost immediately. It is a unique, amazing home-away-from-home for cats and Marvin loves it. Each cat has his/her own very comfortable space, and may also explore the communal climbing platforms and 'indoor tree' area which is open to every cat, whenever they choose. Only 10 cats can board at any one time, so there is a sense of community and plenty of space for each cat. Cash, Lance and Debbie really spend a lot of time and thought on caring for their feline guests and also on keeping in contact with their owners during their time apart. I know that Marvin is not only safe and well-cared for when he stays here, he is also happy, loved and treated as an individual. I was nervous picking out a place to take my two girls Lilly belle and mammas. They are both tortie cats. Lilly is just a kitten and mammas is very vocal about things and hisses when she doesn't like something. We were leaving for a 12 day trip I had to find someone to take care of them. Upon some research I found "Cat villa". The reviews were wonderful and filled with stories like mine. I called and set up a tour. The place was beautiful! They have a cattery (all cats only at cat villa) that is indoor outdoor protected area with water features outside and places for them to climb and hide out. Lilly belle did not want to come home! Wow, I'm impressed. We just picked up our two cats after a 9-day stay at Cat-villa. Both of our cats have anxiety issues and are on meds so we were concerned that they wouldn't be able to adjust to an environment with so many other cats. We were wrong. This place is amazing. We boarded Little Miss Trouble here for a week, and couldn't have been happier. Cash sent photos of Trouble enjoying herself, playing with other cats and climbing up, around, on top of and below the rope tree, platforms and condo roofs. They give lots of one on one attention to the cats and really tailor their care to what each individual cat needs. Trouble is pretty demanding of attention and she got plenty, while other cats there wanted privacy and quiet. What comes across most is how much Cash, Debbie and Lance truly understand cats and enjoy looking after them as it if was their own. Treat your cat to its own cat-vacation at the Cat Villa. Our cat has stayed with Cat Villa many times now, even since we moved away from Encinitas, we make the drive back there - because we really can't think of a place that would better look after her. It's like a proper little holiday for her when we go on vacation! Lovely clean and spacious kitty condos, an indoor/outdoor commuity area where the cats can mingle (if they so choose), with a wonderful view into a lovely garden. There's also a TV with plenty of bird-filled programming to keep them entertained, and they get a lot of attention from their human carers. We recently brought our kitten here while we were out of town for the weekend. This was our first time boarding our cat anywhere, but after meeting with Cash and taking a tour of the place we were confident our cat would be in good hands. I love that the cats have private condos, but are not locked in them all day and instead they have the ability to walk around the cattery and that there is even an outdoor area for them to roam about. We really appreciated the email updates to hear how our cat was doing and by the end of his stay he seemed very comfortable with all of the other cats. Finally getting around to giving my review of this gem. Found it on Yelp about 3 years ago and have taken my cat (Jinx) here every time we go out of town. My cat is a single, indoor cat. When he comes here, he gets to meet other cats which he has made friends with very easily and quickly. I love the condo accommodations and the expansion of the playroom with real trees for them to climb. It was such an excellent upgrade! Cash, Lance and Debbie are wonderful cat caretakers. They are very patient with all kinds of cats. My cat is so relaxed when I pick him up to go home from here. I really feel like he was on vacation too! I know I have piece of mind when I drop him off here. The updates and pics they send you are great. The rates are pretty fair for the type of care and attention that your cat gets here. Their establishment is well maintained and provides stimulation ( even a tv with images of birds, etc.). Someone is there around the clock so you know they are always cared for! We recently left our recently-adopted 3-year old cat with Cash at the Cat Villa for 3 days while we were having construction done on our house. I was worried about leaving him but Cash took great care of him and spent time learning his likes and dislikes, brushing him, playing with him and holding him. It was definitely better for him than being at the house during the construction. We even got updates via email while he was at the Cat Villa. It was great to know that he was well taken care of and happy. I will definitely feel comfortable leaving him at the Cat Villa again. Fantastic facility, terrific price, and over-all, a relief! Similar to a few others (specifically Andrea from Poway), I too have a cat who is extremely shy around others. She's a rescue and I'm 95% convinced she was abused as a kitten. When I got her through a friend about 4 years ago, she spent two weeks hiding in the bathroom before coming out and spending another two weeks hiding under my bed. Over the years, she's gotten comfortable with me, but with no one else. I read some reviews and was completely sold when I saw some similar situations. After two weeks in Europe, my cat was extremely well taken care of and much more vocal when I brought her home. Her fur was brighter, and she seemed to be leaner and in really great health when I brought her home. If I was forced to complain about something, it would be that she was spoiled quite a lot more than I normally do. I guess I better up my cat-caring game now! Many, MANY thanks to Lance for not only caring for my little pal, but also for the extra stress-relief I needed while I was away. I cannot recommend Cat-Villa enough! read more

They offer very personalized service and limit the number of cats to around 10, at any one time.
