Even "Sorceress of Paws" just doesn't have the right ring. Kind and polite, Tevia is the consummate professional. She does what she says she's going to do, and she does it when she says she is going to do it. She is businesslike without being cold. At the same time, she takes extra time getting to know shy animals and she always makes a friend of it quickly. When I go on vacation I'll have her come take care of things and know I can relax, enjoy my vacation and feel like things are secure at home. I think that's the magic of Wizard of Paws.

My fiance has had the same number for the past seven years. While my number did change about a year ago, SHE HAS BEEN IN TOUCH WITH BOTH OF US VIA TEXT MESSAGE since then regarding payment and key drop-offs. Seriously?! Why does this woman refuse to take responsibility for her negligence?! She also waited until after my review to offer $34 off of our bill as compensation to fix our carpet. Who in San Diego can properly remove pet odors/stains from carpet in two rooms for that low of a price? As an aside, I do need to make a correction. We've used her services four times and the level of communication deteriorated each time: 1st time: We received an email update, no text message. 2nd time: No email. I received an update via text message and my fiance received nothing. 3rd time: No email and no text message. Nothing but a note. 4th time: No email and no text message. Nothing but a note and dog poop everywhere. Why did she stop communicating with us? From this, I can only speculate how little she cared about us as clients and I call into question how much she even cares about our pets...but oh, SHE DEFINITELY CARES ABOUT GETTING PAID. And to address the previous review, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR DOG that would cause her to go all over our home. Our veterinarian can vouch for that. She has no behavioral problems. What this boils down to is a lack of communication and accountability. We do not want someone like that taking care of the ones we love.

We boarded our tuxedo big boy cat at Cat-Villa for about 8 days in 2021 when we all needed to fly…read moreacross the country to attend multiple events for one of our sons. (Usually we go on trips in pairs or with friends; there's always been one of our brood who stays behind to take care of our cat, so this was the first time in our 8yo cat's life that he was A) not at home with any of us, & B) with other cats, 24/7, and believe me he does Not like other cats, as a rule!) Since our cat is allowed to go outdoors during the day at home, as he seriously enjoys being outdoors, and it enables him to fulfill more fully his kitty-cat potential in life, we were extremely pleased to see that Cat-Villa has an outdoor "Cat-io" (like "Patio"!). It's a patio thats been enclosed with very professionally done framing and screening, so it gives the cats who are accustomed to SoCal's beautiful fresh air the opportunity to continue with that aspect of life while staying at Cat-Villa! We received photos of our cat and texts w/ updates from Lance a couple times while away, which was really, really nice and reduced our worries a lot. To our incredible surprise, our cat actually got along with the other cats who were staying at Cat-Villa with him! It was hilarious! When we went to pick him up after getting back from our trip, our cat was lounging on the highest perch in the room, large enough to fit many other cats too. There were several cats around him, lounging, walking around, doing their "cat thing", and our cat just looked at us and didn't move a muscle lol! We had to go and reach up and drag him away from Cat-Villa, which says it all!! They do require up-to-date vaccinations, and a vax our cat had never had before. So we took care of that in one quick vet visit in order to make our reservation at Cat-Villa. There were only about 4 or 5 other cats at Cat-Villa the day we dropped him off, then quadruple that amount when we picked him up! Cat-Villa is a gorgeous place that's been totally built to house cats, I didn't want to leave and it inspired us to consider converting part of our patio to a "Cat-io" one day too! There are large branches of an actual tree that have been incorporated into the space, so cats who climb or scratch a lot have access to continue that behavior while at Cat-Villa. Animal Planet needs to do a show about Beautiful places to board pets, and film a segment at Cat-Villa! A remarkable, beautiful place with a lovely man taking care of the cats (& a lovely wife who helps out too). We couldn't recommend Cat-Villa highly enough!! Thanks to the owners of Cat-Villa for taking care of our cat too!!!

I brought in my two cats for a three week stay and when I had picked them up, one of them got…read moreinfected with feline herpes. My cats have never experienced any symptoms of feline herpes at any other boarding facility. This was the first time one of my cats had positive symptoms and it led to $500+ in vet bills for testing and treatment. There was no communication about my cat's clearly visible symptoms prior to the pickup day and it looked like he had been suffering for a few days by then. Throughout their stay, I would ask for updates and photos of the two cats. I only received photos of one of the cats. Despite Lance telling me he would send photos of the second cat, I never received them except for two photos on the first day. On the first day, that second cat was going out of the cubby and exploring. Upon arrival at the Cat Villa, I found the second cat holed up in the corner of their shared cubby. This leads me to believe that something had happened to my second cat that made him too scared to leave the cubby hole because the litter box that was originally in there was moved outside. In addition, when I picked up my cats, they were meowing nonstop and it sounded like they smoked a pack of cigarettes every day. Their voices were so worn out and didn't return to normal until a week after. It leads me to believe that my cats were probably constantly meowing out of stress and lack of care. Safe to say, I will never return to this business because I entered with two completely healthy cats and left with one very sick cat and one incredibly anxious one.
