I still love this place! The last time I reviewed the cat connection was 4 years ago. Since then I last reviewed I rescued a beautiful Persian cat & they treated her like the queen she was for the last 4 years of her life. She regularly would go in for baths because I felt like I could never get her as white and clean as they could. She would stay white for a long time too. We recently had to put her to sleep because of health issues and I feel as if I was able to give her the high life because of the cat connection's care, grooming and love! I had previously posted a not so positive review about cat connection and truly expected not to ever go back to this location again. However, ownership contacted me shortly after posting my review with sincere concern as to the level of service we received. She also clarified pricing policies and changes and admitted a small accounting error on their part. It was because of this personal contact that we decided to give the cat connection another try and today we were not disappointed. Our cat came home clean, well groomed, and he smells wonderful. Nobody and no business is perfect and we all have bad experiences every now and then. I'm just glad to know that with the cat connection, I can reach out with concerns and they'll be heard and addressed. We were also being faced with finding a new boarding situation for our cat and are glad to know that there is no longer a need to look elsewhere. Again, it was because of this personal outreach by one of the co-owners that we remain Cat Connection clients and I think that's essential client management with any small business. DO NOT GO HERE! Their groomer pulled out our cats hair instead of clipping it. The groomer called and asked for permission to shave her mats because she was crying and in pain while they were trying to comb them out. Any prudent person would have quit and realized they needed clipped. I picked her up and the hair is ripped out and her thin flesh is red and very irritated. I know it must have been very painful for her to have this much hair ripped out. How can someone do this to a small helpless animal? Poor little girl. What can I say; I shop at the Cat Connection. It isn't something that I advertise lest anybody think I am the crazy cat lady (I am not, I have dogs as well). Anywho, the thing is the Cat Connection has a fantastic selection of - wait for it - dog food. I know, I know, the cats should be mortified. They carry higher-end cat and dog food, the things that PetsMart and Petco should be selling but aren't. It is slightly higher priced than the Canine Commissary, but what I like is they don't mix in the crap pet food (Science Diet, I'm talking about you). There is at least one employee at the Cat Connection that is very knowledgeable about pet nutrition and if I sucked less I would know his name. Let's call him Bob, although I am sure his name is more exotic than that. So if you live in North Dallas (it is on that strip of Inwood in Addison that has all of the liquor stores - bonus) and need pet food, treats, items with which to spoil your felines, etc then check them out. They have real fur and leather mice that my cats MUST have. In fact, I buy a few at a time when I'm there because they keep getting 'misplaced.' My poor 15 year old chubby, declawed kitty was abused last year by the groomer. She told me my cat was mean (scared does not equal mean). I had to go into the back room to open the cage and get my own poor cat into her carrier. The woman kept saying, "Watch out! She will bite and scratch you!" Did I mention she is declawed?? When I got my cat home and took her out of the carrier, she could not walk. I took her to the vet. They sprained her hip!!! Run the other way! This place by far, has the best prices on dog food. That's right people, I said DOG food. Before I discovered Cat Connection I was paying $8 more per bag than I am now. Not to mention I have also been turned on to natural treats. Okay, not me but my dog. They carry all the top brands, Evo, Innova, etc. for much lower prices than I've seen else where! They also carry quite a few lines of fresh natural dog treats as well. By fresh and natural I mean unprocessed, no preservatives, all clean like as in he could have hunted it himself! Also, the nasty things we would usually say "No, No, don't eat that" are actually the best tasting to dogs, and the best, and Cat Connection has them, fresh, and in the two doggie freezers. I did lots of research before using their boarding services for my week long trip. I really liked that they had a play room for my kitty and that she would not be caged up 24/7. They also offered a discount after using them for several days. The woman who runs this place is awesome and could tell that I was nervous about leaving my baby and said I could call or email her anytime and she would provide me with an update. The only complaint I have is that I paid extra for a bath and nail trim and it looked as if they had not groomed my kitty....nails were dirty as well as her ears :( read more

The perfect place to take your cats for grooming, boarding, toys and quality food and litter. Priscilla, the main groomer, is a cat whisperer! She and her team calmly and lovingly have groomed my two Persians for 7 years. Both kitties scream and struggle when I attempt to brush them. However, at Cat Connection, they are putty in Priscilla's hands and come home relaxed and prissy from feeling good having those pesky mats combed or shaved. A note to negative reviews about hair pulled out and red skin. When the hair mats get so tight to the skin, they have to be shaved off for relief. The skin is red because of the tight mats pulling the skin, not the shaving. Also, a loving cat owner should never let the knots and mats get to that stage. Extremely painful for cat when they move. For love of your cats, take them in to be groomed regularly! read more

I am trying not to turn into the stereotypical "cat lady" but the Cat Connection is the bomb! Everyone there is practically a support group for fellow cat owners: lots of advise and commiserating about our finicky feline friends. Food My kittie has food allergies and they have been able to recommend the most amazing food (and it costs about 30% less than what my vet had prescribed). Toys They also have all of the best, most classic cat toys in stock. Unlike other pet store toys, theirs hold up to weeks of ferocious and energetic playtime. Grooming I did attempt to bring my cat there to be groomed, assuming that a place called Cat Connection would be the best idea. However, my little kitty was completely overwhelmed with the large number of other cats and was simply too upset to make it through the grooming. The groomers were really patient with me, called to advise and let me take her out of the kennel myself to avoid any additional trauma. It's too bad though, I still need a groomer! read more

If you're looking for friendly, smiling faces this is not your place. I've been in quite a few times over the last year since adopting my cat and unfortunately this seems to be the norm with the person working the counter. Staff is not rude, just not friendly and it really made me question leaving my cat to be groomed. That being said, they seemed to do a good job with my girl. She was clean and fluffy when I picked her up. I did not have her shaved or anything, just a bath and a sani cut and as far as I can tell they did that well. Can't speak to any boarding services, but they do have a good selection of food, treats, toys and other cat related items, including cute cat stuff for us humans. This place isn't close to me but I was willing to make the drive (and pay more than I have been for grooming services) because I wanted to try them out and hopefully start going regularly. I'm on the fence if I would take my kitty back. Customer service is important to me and feeling like I'm a hindrance for just walking in the door is unappealing. read more

They are unfailingly kind to cats and their owners and are good about giving tips and advice. Recently my husband and I moved to Hawaii. Cat connection was so helpful in helping us get out cats to Hawaii. They recommended a vet service that specializes in shipping cats worldwide. And I came in on Easter sunday this April to ask about comfort measures for my cats on their long voyage. This is a great place to get your cat groomed! It was so difficult for me to find a decent place that specializes in grooming cats. The atmosphere was nice and quiet for my senior cat. I'd prefer her not to be around loud dogs b/c it stresses her out. She got the lion shave and she came out looking fabulous! No cuts or anything and she wasn't stressed out. Took my fur child Tubby (short-haired) cat to get groomed as she is a little chubby and cannot reach all spots to groom herself. She also had a few mats. When I picked her up not only was she so soft she also had a whole new attitude. She has been so happy and seems to feel so much better with her fur coat being mat free. Side note: there is an extra charge of $10 for mat removal. I also bring my other cat Sir Winston to get his nails trimmed all the time. They are always prompt and I have never had any issues. The store is also adorable and has tons of cat lady stuff and apparel and is fun to browse while you are waiting on your fur child's nail trim. read more

I am a long time customer of Cat Connection and felt compelled to write a review to share my experiences. I initially came to Cat Connection years ago looking for healthier food alternatives. The Ownership and Staff at that time impressed me from the first minute I stepped in the door. I was greeted with "Welcome to Cat Connection, someone will be with you shortly". WOW, you don't get that from the larger pet stores. I spoke with the owner which took the time to explain the finer (most important) points of feline food consumption and learned a lot. This exceptional food knowledge has continued with the current Ownership and Staff. They have taken the knowledge transfer to a whole new level. They are always attentive to my questions where our cats are concerned and strive to provide the best service they can which sets them apart. I believe they subscribe to the mindset of "Customer Service is worthless, Customer loyalty is priceless" and is practiced daily. So for those of you who have had not so positive experiences here, ask yourself the following questions the next time you drive by or think about Cat Connection: 1) Did I ask the right questions to better understand the services they provide? 2) Did I take the time to ask for clarification to topics I might not have been knowledgeable about? 3) Did I take the time to think about what I asked them to do with my cat and what it truly meant? 4) When I stopped by their place of business, was I just in a crappy mood and took it out on them? For starters I want to clarify this at the beginning. It's not the service to my cat that gets 3 stars, it's the attitude towards me. 1. You are not the only cat groomer in town. 2. You have got to train your staff with customer service skills. 3. Change your drop off policy. It doesn't work out for 8-5 professionals. My cat can't speak for herself but I'd like to think she enjoyed her service since she came out very chill in comparison to our trip there. She got a tag on her carrier which I can completely appreciate. It is a bit more than I'd like to pay but given your cat experts and I only need to go once a year, I paid it. I love this this place. They always take care of my cat. He doesn't like to get groomed because some groomers are a bit too aggressive when they groom. But when I brought him to cat connection I never have an issue with him after his grooming. I know they handle him with care and his lion cuts are always on point. So I am updating my review on Cat Connection as they have gone above and beyond to help me with my aging cat outside of this order. I still think that they should have notified me about the distributor, not respond to my email in regard to the shipment's status, but all that aside they really seem to be caring people who want the best for cats, all cats. I waited, and waited, and waited and checked the order status twice and both times pending and finally on 4/2 I sent a note to see what was going on as it was still pending! They had charged my card, but no updates until my email and then I got an email the next day saying, " I'm so sorry, but we have not been receiving the Tiki Cat Mousse from our distributors, and the collar was discontinued by the manufacturer." Nothing on the website that says either are out of stock or discontinued. When were they going to tell me? I was holding off on buying it from Amazon, trying to help the small business owner, and since it is the only think my cat will eat I had hoped this order would come before I ran out. Not the case and certainly not in the time frame they said when I pushed purchase. I have asked them to cancel any account I have with them and they did say they would cancel the order, but I will see if they give me a refund or I have to ask for that too, just not sure they are on top of things with their online portion of the business. I emailed with some questions about grooming my 'special needs' cat, and Ms Christie was very kind and helpful, taking time to call and explain in-depth to me what they could do for him and what parts of the grooming might pose a risk for his particular health needs. I have never been to the store, but online ordering is a nightmare. My first time order a year or so ago, the entire order got held up for weeks for one pet tag. I ordered from them a few more times, with no problem and the order arrived in a week. This time, I ordered collars and tags almost 3 weeks ago. I called customer service and the ONE employee who handles online orders was not there. She called me back at almost 7pm at night! and said that the shipment of 4 collars and 2 tags was being held up for ONE collar they didn't have in yet. I told her to replace with ANY OTHER COLOR. She said ok, that the shipment would be out the next day. Now it is 7 days later and they still haven't shipped my collars. Ridiculous. If I can find another company that sells Beastie Bands, I'll never order from Cat Connection again. read more

My cats have been customers of Cat Connection for years. First: my cats will NEVER board anywhere, but the Cat Connection. They have boarded there many times over the years and have always come home in a calm, contented manner. One of my cats hates leaving home and does not want to be touched by anyone. The WONDERFUL LADIES who care for the cats understand this and make him a special bed, in his condo, that he can hide in. They understand that some cats want to be left alone and other than feeding and cleaning his litter box, they allow him his space and privacy. My other kitty was abused and is very fearful of people. Again, the ladies who care for the kitties make her feel very secure and safe. My cat (who died last Spring) required my husband or me to remove her from her condo since she so enjoyed being at Cat Connection and was unhappy to leave. She LOVED being there! Second: Cat Connection has the best selection of high quality cat food (and dog food). Jay, the owner of Cat Connection, is very knowledgeable about the food and he and his staff have been fabulous in helping me choose the best food for my cats and their specific conditions. Third: Cat Connection has been so helpful and supportive in providing me advice and suggestions regarding health and/or behavioral cat issues over the years. These people truly understand cats and they truly care. Forth: Cat Connection has an incredible selection of toys, beds, water and food bowls and other cat related items. Took my Persian cat in for a lion cut on 2/2/16. When I got home and took him out of the carrier I immediately noticed he had several red spots on his skin from razor burn, cuts on his stomach, and patches of raw skin on both his stomach and behind. I called the store the next day to express my concerns and to inquire regarding why I wasn't informed of the situation when I picked up my cat. I was put on hold and transferred to the groomer, who simply told me razor burn and cuts were normal for some cats and that he must have had dry skin. She advised me to buy a cone to put around his head for a few days and some spray to keep the cuts from getting infected. I have used another groomer for years prior to my move to Dallas and have never picked up my cats in even a remotely similar condition, so in my opinion this is anything but normal. Very disappointing, I will not be using the grooming services here again if it is "normal" to pick up a cat with visible cuts and razor burn only to be told to buy a cone and antibiotic spray (which I was encouraged to buy at Cat Connection). It shouldn't be necessary to employ corrective measures such as this after grooming, and the unapologetic response from the grooming staff made me feel that they didn't care about the situation. Update: After speaking with the manager and notifying her I had to seek treatment for my cat due to the cuts he sustained during the grooming session, I was reimbursed for the cost of the grooming. read more

I had to board my little princess while I went to my brother's wedding in PR and was a little sketched out on the whole boarding process in general. Naturally I had checked out other places before coming to Cat Connections and what I saw was scary. My cat is an exotic shorthair Persian and can be a little on the high maintenance side so of course I wanted the best for her and I found it! The place was large, clean, and they DO NOT leave your cat in a cage the whole time. They give them ample time on the floor and in a play room so everyone is happy. The staff was friendly and they take their jobs very seriously. I would definitely come back if I ever need to board her again. I would recommend this place to any cat lover!
