I bought a Groupon for an oil change for this location. It did state on there that there is an additional charge for an oil filter. As the car had a total oil and filter change before going directly into storage, I just need the oil changed, so it was perfect for my needs. DO NOT deal with the guy with the flashy gold neck chain and long hair. He greets you with an oily grin, no pun intended, then proceeds to see how much he can rip you off. Then when you refused to be ripped off, he gets rude and tells you to leave. I gave him the Groupon, and he told me he didn't care whether the oil filter is needed or not, I had to pay an additional $18 for it. The price for that oil filter is already highway robbery. Then when I told him that I won't be paying for something that I don't need, he told me to leave. So I did! Groupon was great in giving a refund, but don't deal with this location. It's not the first time that they tried to rip me off. The last time I was there (quite a few years ago) for an oil change, I was told that my brake fluid was moldy, and that I needed a total engine flush because my engine was on the verge of breaking down. I just ignored the scammer, oops, I meant, "technician". By the way, the engine is still running fine as of today. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! I would give this place 0 stars if I could. My girlfriend took her car here for a simple oil change and they couldn't even get that right. First of all, they didn't even change the oil or filter, just added some oil to the old stuff. Second, overfilled it way past the full mark on the dip stick. When she called back to talk the guy he claimed they showed her the dipstick, which they did not and was very rude in the process. She then asked for a refund and said that if anything goes wrong with her car it will be coming back on them. He then while laughing said "are you threatening me". In the end she didn't get a refund and had to go to another oil change place and an actual oil change done. Not impressed. I popped in to have an oil change because I was in the area, but wish I had driven 5 mins further to Pro Oil change to get the service I'm accustomed to. The sign said $29 no coupon needed for an oil change. Nothing was explained otherwise to me. My bill came to $60 and when I asked how it got that high I was given condescending remarks about how it's common sense that the add ons are in an oil change, he said "it's like taking a shower without soap" otherwise. The issue is that for someone like myself who knows NOTHING about cars, I prefer things to be explained to me before I'm charged more than what the gigantic sign says on their building. Especially, when I find out my Husband could have easily done the add ons himself. When I asked if they normally ask people before they install things into the vehicles I was told to see a machanic next time. So, I left, and wrote this review. Went for a quick oil change because this pace was close to home. While there I was told my brake fluid was in dire need of a flush. So I felt I should take their word for it, I said okay, paid the extra 70$ on top if the oil change. A very short time later I was taking the car in to get the brakes replaced- to my regular, and very trusted garage. I had them check things over and voila- without me asking they said Wow, your brake fluid really, really needs to be flushed! I explained how I apparently just had it done like a week before and they showed me evidence to the contrary. I actually visit this place frequently for oil changes and until yesterday I would have given them a higher rating... However, I bought a Groupon and I really feel like I got the shaft when I visited them yesterday. My Groupon was $50 for 3 oil changes (plus each time you have to pay 12$+ for taxes, filter, enviro fee, and whatever else...) As I visit this place for all my vehicle maintenance, I am pretty familiar with their routine, and I can virtually guarantee that it was different for my Groupon service. I was actually left wondering if they even changed my oil? I was in and out of the place in 6 minutes. None of the usual 'noises' when they are added the new oil were heard either. The other problem I experienced was that apparently Groupon set up their system wrong so once Castrol scanned the coupon it marked the ENTIRE thing as redeemed. So now, I have to take back my receipt from my first service each time. Such a pain in the butt. I am not too sure why they couldn't just make a note of it in their computer system? First visit i incurred a 2010 or newer vehicle oil change fee and you can probably guess my car is a 2010. Second time they charged for an oil filter which was included in the Groupon description. I work for a car dealership and know the technicians very well, they assist with any repairs or questions I have; I only decided to use this coupon because it worked out to be cheaper than my company discount at the time... man do I regret it!! This place is one giant MONEY GRAB that has no empathy or care for their customers needs. First, they will make recommendations that are UNNECESSARY; I was recommended to replace 2 filters which had just been replaced the previous month. Furthermore, they will make recommendations that could potential DAMAGE YOUR VEHICLE PERMANENTLY, such as changing transmission fluid. My specific type of vehicle was manufactured with transmission fluid that is created to withstand the life of the vehicle, without requiring any replacement. A fact which I have been aware of since the day of ownership. If I had taken this ABSURD recommendation, I would have had to begin replacing the transmission fluid regularly (huge unnecessary cost) and potential problems could have been faced down the road for me vehicle. I thought a lot of these bad reviews were fake, but they are very real! I found out the hard way. I originally only wanted an oil change. They tried really hard to get me to do my air filter, but i changed it less than 2 months before that. They told me my transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed, It had been almost a year since i had it done, and i drive a lot every day so i figured why not? Drove for about 5 blocks after and noticed it starting to shift funny so i pulled over. looked under and could see fluid leaking. checked the dipstick and it was nearly empty. Luckily, my friend owns a car wreckers business and was able to give me a tow there with his truck. When i got there they tried their hardest to deny it was their fault, and eventually topped it up and made sure the drain plug was tight with no leaks. My car drives normally again, but had i drove a few more blocks with that fluid leak i could have been looking at a replacement transmission. I requested a full refund but was not given one. Who knows the long term damage it caused to the transmission that might not be noticeable right away. What a joke. dishonest & uneducated staff. After using my Groupon, they have informed me that I needed a transmission flush and brake flush as well. Now, my dad is a mechanic and told me right away that it's an upscale tactic. He looked at my car last month and everything was completely fine. I also asked them to fix the high pitched noise my car was making as well, still making that sound as I drove away. It was fast, but disappointed that I spent $250 for nothing. I called back to make a complaint and the manager legit told me to put WD-40 on my belt. Just assuming over the phone the cause of the noise. My dad thankfully told me that would screw up my car even more. And to NEVER do that. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service!!! If I could give a zero rating, I'd do it in a heartbeat! I bought a Groupon deal for $24 for an oil change. First of all, the fine prints aren't clear at all. It says: Additional charge for oil filters, canister filters, and specialty filters (ie. Adui, Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, and diesel) Addiootal charge for skid removal. $3.49 environmental fee and taxes apply. It doesn't state what the additional charge is and I also don't have either one of those cars! So as a consumer, I think it doesn't apply to me. So I went to the Coquitlam location and they told me that I had to pay about another $20, which was absolutely ridiculous as I had already paid $24 on Groupon. I asked what their normal oil change price is and they told me $49.99...Ummmmm??? so I basically just saved $5 by purchasing the deal on Groupon? The deal that claims it's normally $39.99 but you save 42%??? But the worst part was their unbelievably terrible customer service. When I told him it doesn't state $20 extra on Groupon, he started being rude and actually threatened to call the cops on me! The guy wasn't even the manager of the place! I've been coming here for about 18 months, since I moved to Port Moody, and I like the service and the prices. I find the guys to be very personable and helpful and have never felt anything less than honesty at play. They always offer me a discount when I need additional service and it's always been in line with what my regular mechanic has said as far as maintenance timelines. it's been a reasonable experience every time I've been here, and I will continue to do so. The employee (LEON) tried to tell me my transmission fluid was dangerously low and dirty. He went so far as to say the car was unsafe to drive. Went in for a regular oil change Nov 6th, tech asked me when I last had it serviced, I told him it was last inspected end to end at a dealer a year ago, but I have 3~4 oil changes a year. He proceeded to tell me that I am out of coolant, that the reservoir was empty, and would get a coolant flush or the car would overheat. Guy said he could give me a deal if I did it with the oil change right now, this of course set of alarm bells as it was a deal that would need to be acted upon right now for only $150. Said no thank you and took the car to the dealership down the street. They took a look, coolant levels are absolutely fine, and reservoir was not "bone dry" as was claimed. Got the brake fluid flushed and a burned out brake-light replaced while I was at the dealer. Get your oil changed here, certainly but leave all other fluids to honest, qualified technicians of which I doubt can be found here. read more

Last week my wife took our van in for an oil change. Part way through the servicing, my wife called me in a panic because she had just been informed by the person doing the servicing that "the brake fluid had turned to gel, and that the transmission was dry", and that we needed to service both components right away to avoid major damage. My wife was told that if both jobs were done right then, the labour charges would be waived, and it would only cost us $190. I told her to tell you NO, since there was no way either diagnosis could be true. I am a licensed mechanic, and checked both components later that day -- both were the right colour, consistency and level. In other words, perfect. The guy told me that my power steering fluid should be red but it was brown(?) and along with my brake fluid had to be flushed/changed urgently, and then it would be good for a few years. He also said that I would pay much more at the dealer. I knew I had some fluids done at the dealer last Dec. but couldn't remember which, and he said must have been the transmission fluid because it looked ok. Worried, I said ok, since I was already there. After that was done, he said my battery needed to be changed for 130 bucks,at which point I had to cut him off! When I was ready to drive off, he asked if the steering wheel and brakes felt better. I didn't feel any difference, so I called the dealer when I got home, and they pulled up my record and said they flushed and changed my power steering fluid and brake fluid last Dec!!! I had been sold something I didn't need!! ANd by the way, the mileage on my car is only just under 60,000 km. I find this very unethical. I am one of those that don't know anything about car mechanics, and so was ripe for fleecing, it turns out. To the owner: In reading the comments here, it seems like you do read the comments. I called and left a message with your manager. I had one of the worst experiences with oil change. I bought coupons for oil change at this store. On my first visit, the manager showed me a stick for transmission fluid and said that it is "bubbly", it is low and dirty. I doubt that because I had serviced that not that long ago. So after the basic oil change I went to a nearby parking lot to check my transmission fluid. I was shocked that my stick was different to what the manager showed me and my fluid was clean and full! Basically it seems that the manager has some spare transmission stick to show people that their transmission fluid is dirty/low and "bubbly". Never again. Went there for an oil change they said my oil change would be $29 I could use my mobile app 50% off they did the oil change and then decided to charge me $39 and say the app doesn't apply to the $29 oil change very shady and shifty saying one thing at the beginning and then doing completely the other at the end when it's too late and oil is already been changed. Castrol Lube Express - Oil Change Stations Near Me - Coquitlam, British Columbia

In November I brought my Honda Civic for an oil change like usual. I told them my brakes were squeaking and they said they can replace the pads for me. Paid and drove away and the brakes seemed good. Couple months later the squeaking started again. I went back to Lube Express and spoke to a staff, he hopped in the car and we drove it around the block. He said he didn't hear squeaking and I explained it happens at higher speeds when I break. He said there isn't anything they can do. I left and kept driving it, the sound getting worse and worse. Brought the car back a second time and the same guy looked at the brakes, I think he is the owner or manager of the company. He said the rotor wasn't aligned straight with the brakes and now it is wearing the brake pads out unevenly. When I asked him why his staff wouldn't have told me that when they replaced the pads, he said they would have. I told him they did not, otherwise I probably would have chosen to machine the rotors so that the break pads would last longer, and at least I would have had the option to fix it. He said the staff should have told me. They didn't. He then proceeded to tell me that the staff probably didn't tell me about the rotor because it would be too expensive to fix. He told me that it would have been about $600 and I wouldn't have wanted to do that anyways. I explained how that is unprofessional to assume a client doesn't want work done based on price, and not given the option. Most mechanics tell you every little thing you need replaced or fixed to make more business. He said there is nothing they can do....again. His only solution was that in a year or so when I need new pads again, they will "give me a deal" on replacing the rotors and pads. Obviously after this fiasco, I will not be returning to this shop for any work in the future. Seeing as I was not happy that this guy was not willing to reimburse any of my money or try to fix my car, I phoned their main phone line to get in touch with the owner, Dharma. The person who answered told me the only way to contact the manager was to phone the main line and that he was off "for a while" and "not sure when he will be in next". I proceeded to ask if he had a direct line, cell phone number or email that I could contact him with. The staff said he "didn't have an email that I know of". What owner of a small business does not have a way to contact them directly? Each person I talked to there to resolve this issue said there is nothing they can do and were very dodgy in the way they answered my questions. I have had no luck connecting with the owner Dharma and had to take my car into another shop to get the brakes fixed. I am out the $200 for the brake pads from Castrol Lube Express and forked out another $200 at another mechanic to fix their mistake. A $400 bill that they will do nothing about. (Obviously in hindsight I wouldn't go to an oil change for mechanic work, but if they didn't know what they were doing they should not have agreed to do that brake work). read more
