Gus fitted us into his schedule and came over when he said he would, had all the parts, and fixed both toilets.

Most recently, Mark handled a garbage disposal leak and a kitchen faucet leak for us. Mark is incredibly knowledgeable and performs a very thorough inspection before starting any work. Beyond just fixing the issue, he provides expert guidance--for example, he suggested I order parts directly through Moen to ensure the best fit and warranty coverage. The repairs and replacements were flawless. Scheduling is always easy, and Mark is punctual with great communication throughout the process. Highly recommended!

Before the appointment, my husband explained the issue in detail and sent photos of the make and model of the unit. When Mark arrived, he looked at the unit and said he needed to contact the manufacturer and would follow up on Monday. We never received that follow-up. There were no missed calls, no voicemail, and no text message. My husband does not block unknown numbers and must answer all calls for work, so there is no record of any attempt to contact us. During this time, we were also dealing with our son unexpectedly needing surgery, which delayed us from calling back sooner. Prior to MG Plumbing's visit, we had already contacted PG&E when we first noticed the gas smell. PG&E did not detect a gas leak, even while running hot water to try to reproduce the issue. Out of caution, we have been turning the gas off when the unit is not in use. The smell appears to occur only when hot water is used in our children's bathroom. When we finally followed up later in the week, we were informed that Mark is not certified to work on Rinnai units, which prevented him from getting information from the manufacturer. Given the safety concern involved, this should have been clearly communicated sooner. Due to the lack of follow-up and communication, we had to start over with a certified plumber. I hope this review remains visible so others can make an informed decision.

I'm a little surprised Jake's Plumbing has such positive reviews, based on my experience with them…read more My home warranty company assigned them for a job that involved multiple items, most very simple, but two a little more involved. I'll start by saying a few nice things: Jake's is able to dispatch quickly, and the plumbers they send seem relatively capable, though there is some variation. And both the plumbers and the office staff seem nice. More challengingly, it took a remarkable number of visits, over many, many months, to complete some fairly straightforward work. I'm lucky I have a job that fairly easily lets me be at home waiting for a contractor if needed; for someone for whom taking time away from work is a bigger deal, this would have been a brutal experience. And there were a bunch of hiccups, like the wrong parts being ordered, plumbers showing up not prepared to do the job, and a plumber dismantling a shower valve down to the rough-in valve and declaring the job done (surreally, I had to argue with the office that the job was finished when the shower was functional again). Most challengingly, two valves for a tub needed replacement, because they were leaking and too corroded to replace the cartridges, requiring access through tile. For almost a year, I tried to get a quote for the work, because the home warranty company wouldn't cover tile access. I asked the office repeatedly for a quote. I asked every plumber who came to my house to work on other, simpler parts of the job. And I never got a quote, and I finally just gave up. The bottom line is that this office seems to struggle to handle even modestly complex jobs. For the simplest jobs, like a toilet that needs to be snaked or a simple leak under a sink, they can dispatch a reasonably capable, friendly plumber quickly. But the wheels seem to come off when things get even modestly complex, like parts having to be ordered. And I say all that with some regret, because these seem like nice people, and I tried really hard to work with them.

Main Sewer Line clog & pipe leak under the house, unrelated events, however would have meant that the Holiday party at our house was not going to happen. On the afternoon of the day before the holiday weekend, it all happened at once. Talked to Michael on his cell phone (called me back after leaving msg on the main number). He had two expert plumbers out that afternoon "eve of holiday weekend" just before dark (Israel & Mark), in less than 2 hours they had the main line cleared and the copper pipe section replaced under the house. As I was going out to work they were finishing. MVP team saved the holiday party at our house & charged a very, very fair price for the work done with no notice on the eve of a holiday. Michael after the fact checked with me on the work, and even went far out of his way to answer questions regarding the circulating hot water pump at our house. Kelly was SO helpful in getting a couple extra questions answered, & wonderful to work with. As a long time homeowner in the Bay Area, I can say the combination of Excellent work, very fair pricing, and following up with a smile on the eve of a holiday is so rare, I felt compelled to write this lengthy recommendation for MVP Plumbing / Michael, Kelly and the extended team. My opinion if your looking for a quality plumbing result at a fair price, you can not find a better company in the San Francisco Bay Area Regards, Kt San Jose, CA
