We recently took two 10 year olds to Castle Park during spring break. After doing research online, we purchased Duke's Duo passes for unlimited mini golf and unlimited rides. We browsed the FAQ section of the Castle Park website to make sure we knew what to expect. Upon arrival at the park, my friend and I were asked to pay $10 each for admission to the park - even though we were just accompanying our children through the park. We did not play mini golf or go on any rides. We just walked around with our kids to make sure they were safe. This was not a good start to our day. The park was seriously understaffed. A lot of the rides were closed at times because they were rotating the crew members from ride to ride instead of having crew members working at each ride. This created longer wait times than were necessary at each ride. The lines were also ridiculously long at concession stands because only a few were open. Good luck finding an Icee in this place before 1:00PM. They don't turn on the machines until the park opens so Icees are out of the question for several hours. Food and drinks are priced the way you'd expect - outrageously expensive - and no better than what you would get buying hot dogs and pizza from a gas station. The restrooms and grounds are surprisingly clean considering how scaled back the staffing is. It was one of the few high points of the day. Considering how reasonably priced the passes are, we weren't expecting a Disneyland style experience. We knew we were attending a local amusement park and adjusted our expectations accordingly. However, being asked to pay to enter the park for the sole purpose of keeping our children safe is ridiculous. Not to mention the amount of money we spent on food and souvenirs. The $10 admission fee we paid was not listed anywhere on their website. At least not where you would expect to find it. If we hadn't already purchased passed online for the kids and promised them we would go, we would have left and found something else to do. Paying that extra $10 seriously cut into our budget for the day. Thankfully, our kids were also underwhelmed by the experience, so we won't have to worry about returning. read more

I don't do anything other than mini golf here, but this is the best place around to mini golf. Offers 4 18 hole courses and is beautiful as well as open late. During covid there's no water hazards which is a bummer and there's could be more cleaning done around the little houses and the holes that transfer your balls sometimes your ball gets stuck. You won't notice any of this however and it is an excellent course. read more

First time going to Castle Park aka Castle Dark. Spookie time lover of all things Halloween. Recommended from a friend to check it out. We purchased VIP tickets so we didn't have to wait in line for the three mazes. Drove from LA and were late to the dinner and show portion. However, we told them we were VIP and they escorted us to where the food hall is and asked what we wanted for dinner from the menu; all looked delicious. They showed us to our reserved table and we waited for our food. It was great offering and great tasting. Our escort (i cannot remember her name) was so nice and helpful gave us a choice of dinner first or show then dinner. The show was the launch of the evening. We chose dinner and I snuck out and watched the pre show. It was a good story and fun to get us in the mood. While eating Matt Gagnier the Haunt director came by to introduce himself and tell us about the evening. WE WERE THE ONLY VIP! He personally escorted us through every maze, front of the line, and gave us the history of the park as we walked. It was so cool! We had hit true celebrity status. The mazes were great and got to interact with the scare actors! Even got a little wet. The street scare actors are given The freedom to move around and really do their own scares. We didn't ride any rides, but will for sure next time. We even had the opportunity to be in full makeup and costume to be scare actors ourselves. For sure doing that next year! I'm shocked at how horrible this place is! First off, charging $10 to park here seems over the top. But fine. The food at the Big Top BBQ was inedible! The burger I had to take back to ask of maybe it was a veggie burger. They insisted it was a beef patty, but they should use that term loosely! I had other people at the table try it as well and they agreed it tasted and the texture was horrible. What's worse, when I complained and clearly didn't eat it, there was no offer of a refund for my $10 burger. Waste your money someplace else. read more

Went to castle park on the last weekend that the water park was open for the year. We found tickets through local flavor that were 10 dollars for both parts of the park. It was very hot that day so we did the water park early on. The kids enjoyed it, although it was a lot smaller than it looked on the website. The rides were all great, in fact, we didn't have time to do them all. It was the perfect place for my 4 year old daughter. She had the best time. Food was a little expensive for the quality, and the overall park was pretty dirty, but we had fun. read more

Came for mini golf on a whim and it was HOT out!! It was our 1st time so We figured they would definitely have drinks there. We Paid $60 and I immediately went to the vending machines for water but the machines were all either sold out or not working . Darn! I'm pregnant and have 2 school aged kids so I was definitely worried but we figured we would just leave after 1 course and go buy water at a store. After about 15 minutes my 10 year old son began showing signs of heat exhaustion. He fainted and began crying and throwing up. We ran him all the way across the course towards the bathrooms and when I got to the front, I asked the lady at the front window for water for him. She said I need to put on my mask back on and pointed to the broken vending machines. Nice. Took my son to the bathrooms... cooled him down with sink water and left. $60 down the toilet. This place has gone downhill qnd it is very sad. First off beware, if you buy tickets online they will not refund your money so your stuck going. Nex5 tgey do not put what rides are down on the website so there for you will be like me and buy tickets to learn 8 rides are down the day your going. The only reedeming factor here is, when we got to the park they gave us complimentary passes to return before 5/22. The bathrooms were not clean even though it just opened. The prices are outrageous now, it use to be 14.99 for rides and now you pay 34.99. I get we were in a pandemic, but still. Anther issue I have with the price is they rides still dont even work well. For example ghost blaster STILL does not shoot correctly. The food is all right still about the same. Anther new thing is the park now has metal detectors. Like what? This is a tiny park what happened that we need metal detectors now. Will I still go yes of course my kid loves this place but I will not go paying full price and I def hope you do not too. Ps. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. 3 days before my daughter's 8th grade graduating class was supposed to go to this poor excuse for an amusement park AND after all the kids PAID to go, this DUMP decides to pull the plug on it!! I came here every summer as a child and thought it was amazing. So yesterday I was excited to bring my son miniature golfing. I was very disappointed and embarrassed. This is not the same park I went to as a child. There were ants over the entire course 3, so many in the holes I didn't even want to pick up my ball. The fountains were dry, and many spots where the "green" was putting up off the concrete. I spoke with the employee regarding my concerns (there were several holes we just walked around because of the all the ants.) He just shrugged his shoulders and say "I guess I should tell my manager about that." Conveniently the manager was busy yesterday and unable to speak with me. Castle Park has been a family favorite of mine since I was a kid. It's a Riverside landmark. It's reasonably-priced fun. Now, in this pandemic, Castle Park is doing the best it can to entertain. I appreciate their free "Anthony the Magic" shows online. We registered for a free ticket. My family just watched a show today. Wow! He's just as great as I always remember. Bucaneer Cove was extremely crowded. No where to sit except on the concrete in the hot sun. Yes, you pay for parking which is the new standard but lame. We waited in line for over 40 minutes for the Pizza Hut meal deal, which I purchased online, otherwise I would of left and had lunch at a proper establishment. Luckily -- there was shade outside the Pizza Hut line where my aunt and toddler waited for over 45 minutes to eat a slice of pizza. Yeah, my 2 year old watched a cartoon on my iphone otherwise it would of been a nightmare. Stay away unless you want to be annoyed with the parking, hot concrete, and long LINES for water slides and food. read more

This place needs a serious overhaul. It's dirty, the landscape/planters need attention. The restrooms were filthy & smelly. Trash cans throughout the park needed to be emptied. The stores don't really carry anything interesting. Either the current owners need to revamp it or at least hire someone to get ideas. So this is the third time they complained about my previous reviews and have had them removed because I insult them and their employees. We visited in early July because it was part of the AYSO national games. So this is watered down: This place sucks Total ripoff They say it's good for 3 year olds but it's not unless you want to ride the carousel hundreds of times. Then some very very large trash sweeper knocks over my 3 yr old with out saying sorry. Scrapped knees no first aid to help with a band aid. Screw this dump. Disneyland isn't that much more. This is the crappiest places on earth The "owner" has emailed me to claim they have EMT's on site-maybe. No one there was helpful enough to point us in the right direction to find one. So we trekked back to the car to get band aids for the scrapped knees. So to recap This places sucks, sucks, sucks and sucks. I can't impress upon anyone how bad this place sucks. Castle Park reminds me of a small rundowned Knott's Berry Farm. It is usually empty with hardly any rides being operated. The only area out of the whole park that seems to be getting some good action would be their huge Miniature Golf area! Don't get me wrong, this amusement park has potential but when there are carnival games with no employees in sight, hardly any rides running, and an arcade with token issues..it's a little difficult to enjoy all aspects of a supposable "Amusement" Park. The only reason Castle Park was able to get a decent three stars is because of their Miniature Golf. With four courses (two are usually closed), they have quite the selection of fun opsticles! Cute enough for a family or date night. If you're planning to take a trip to Castle Park and wanting a day of fun, skip straight to the Miniature Golf, do a few courses, and then head over to Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor next-door or the Van Buren Drive-In down the street! read more

I visited this place 9/15/2019 and 7 plus rides were not working the people at the water party area were rude !!! The nieces weren't able to enjoy the slides fully without being asked hurry up and get off , rudely might I add over priced nasty food did mention the staff at the water area were rude ?? I will be calling and letting a member of management know. AND OF I WAS YOU I WOULD PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. To everyone giving bad reviews, what do you expect?! Hah, seriously. This is an okay place to kill an afternoon. I'm not a fan of paying to park, like many of the bad reviewers- um, hello, it's called if it bothers you so much find one of the little neighborhoods nearby to park along the street in. No, you won't get towed. As long as you read the signs and make sure it's okay to park there, again I say, NO, you won't get towed. I'm also not a fan of being charged a pretty steep admission. When we want to just play golf, we'll go to Scandia. When we want to visit just an arcade, we'll go to GameWorks or Dave & Buster's. But, when we want to ride silly carnival rides 'til we get sick, we'll come to Castle Park. ESPECIALLY during the Summer, when they have their buy a day get the summer free promotion. Totally worth it. When it comes to this place, weigh the pros and cons. Don't go in expecting it to be Disneyland, don't go in expecting it to be exactly like it used to be. read more

I am a Riverside local and while growing up, Castle Park was the place to be! It was always very active and very fun. Throughout the years Castle Park has slowed down and aged, both of which don't bother me one bit. My dad bought season passes for all of the grand kids this year and we have gotten more than our monies worth in just a few visits. If you are coming for some fun just consider: Rides - You are not paying Disneyland prices so don't expect Disneyland. On each side of the park there are probably only 2 handfuls of rides and at any given time only one handful will be open. The other handful will have a sign that says they will return in 30 minutes. The ride operators rotate between rides. It's very understandable. There aren't even enough visitors to occupy all rides at once anyway. The upside to not paying Disneyland prices? You're not waiting in Disneyland lines. I do NOT have time for that. I love no wait time for rides and you will usually be next in line here. Food - All of the food carts are not available to you. However, there are enough places available to accommodate your hunger needs. I purchased the unlimited popcorn/drink combo for $10 with my season pass and received reusable containers for the year. Cannot beat it. I don't really care for popcorn but theirs hits the spot. Chicken strip combo was approximately $8. Bacon cheddar fries were approximately $6-$7 and might I add, we ended up buying another because we were fighting for the last bit of the one we bought. Funnel cakes, ICEE, ice cream, burgers, hot dogs, Pizza Hut items, etc. all sold here. Restrooms- Could always be cleaner but they are not too bad to use. If they were, I am one to complain without hesitation. Parking - I added unlimited parking to my season pass for $10 or $15.. I would not be ok spending $6 per visit for the year. I would rather be dropped off. Arcade & Miniature Golf - I do not have feedback. Buccaneers Cove - I have not went to but my parents take the kids and they all love it. It does get packed and I was told they have to limit visit time. My parents rent a cabana for $40 and stay all day. Guaranteed seating, playing & fun. I personally think $40 is steep but they claim it is worth every penny. I will know once I visit that part. I read on other reviews that adults were charged to enter even if they were not participating in the activities. That has never happened to me. I have always been told 1 adult supervisor free and never paid going in with the kids prior to buying my season pass. **UPDATE 9/16/14 ** Went to Castle Park on Friday night with the kiddos and asked about the entrance fee. These reviews are absolutely correct, they will charge you even if you are just supervising. My opinion on that- bunk but no stars lost because it makes no difference to me. I have a pass because Yay! I'm a fan. All in all, if you are driving a distance and think that you are scoring with a cheap amusement park, you WILL be disappointed. I live 10 minutes away. I have 3 small children. They love the rides, they love the water park and they get to visit often even if it means just going for 2-4 hours to get some fresh air. The pass is worth it for me. RIP OFF! So many rides not being operated. Some are to be operated but you have to wait until someone operating another ride is available to operate the ride you are in line for!!! Same with carnival games!!! You have to pay extra for carnival games. And we had to pay for parking. $6! Just not worth it. First ride I get on with my daughter was the carousel. Dirty poles!!!! Two words can describe this place: EPIC. FAIL. First, while playing miniature golf, the balls continually get stuck in the tubes, forcing you to have to continually go back up to the front desk to get another ball! When we complained, asking for a refund, we were offered a partial refund in tokens. Fine. While playing games, our tokens kept getting "taken" with nothing coming out or having to put extra tokens in. Skee ball, forget it, you never get enough balls that come out. Air hockey, forget it, no puck. Even the manager couldn't find it. So guess what, more "complimentary" tokens. Finally, I suggest you use the restroom at home before you get here, because guess what? A bit of a tourist trap for those who can't afford or just can't get to the big theme parks in OC. An ok place to kill an afternoon, as another review says. Parking in their lot costs $6! WHAT!? Park elsewhere and walk in. You choose mini golf, unlimited rides, or play at Buccaneer Cove play area (when in season, which I guess must be in summer) for $9.99, pick 2 of the above for $15.99, and all 3 for $24.99. The season pass price is not much more than that. The rides seem the quality and safety level of rural county fair or carnival rides. Think hicktown, not the L.A. county fair with all its official-ness! To me, some of those rides looked downright rickety. Not sure I'd really want to go on. If you don't worry about that sort of thing, go for it. A few rides were closed, probably because at the time there weren't many people in attendance. Only 3 people on a rollercoaster is probably a big waste of the money it takes to keep the ride going. Most of the rides are thrill rides and scrambler-type things that would appeal to younger teens, junior high age. Other than a train ride, not much for the under-10 crowd that I saw, which was disappointing. I thought the big carousel was very pretty and will probably please any kid with its many kinds of animals. Speaking of which, there was a beautiful peacock wandering the grounds. He was pretty calm and strutting about happily until some d-bag tried to chase after this poor bird and attempt to run him down with a baby stroller. Nice example for your kid, sir. After leaving the park we saw the peacock in the parking lot next to our car. We hoped he was pooping on the car of the guy who scared him. Karma's a b, man! The midway games seemed much too difficult to win and the prizes were the thin fabric kind of stuffed animals with hard Styrofoam balls for stuffing. They felt and looked ugly and cheap. Usually there's one midway game I want to try, but nope. Moving on to golf. It was fun. Not $9.99 fun, but close. I enjoyed Camelot in Anaheim/Fullerton area more because it's more "themed" as you choose each route- the African jungle or Far East, for instance. Choose route 3 to get to that big castle near the freeway! 1 and 2 will also take you to large cute structures like a Russian palace, gingerbread house, windmills, Japanese pagoda.... but route 4 (the one we picked) will not take you anywhere very fun. We got.... a house, a log fort, and that was kind of it. If you have kids with you chances are they will cry if you do route 4! Don't make those kids cry ok? The arcade was all right but not great. Skeeball, air hockey, shooting and fighting games. There's Pac-Man and blocky Virtua Fighter for you old schoolers, there's a Terminator machine gun game which, creepily enough, seemed like everyone was playing with their 3 year old. TMNT Turtles in Time and Star Wars Trilogy Arcade should please the old & new generations of fans at the same time, even if the SW screen has burn-in and the TMNT buttons aren't very responsive. The consoles are not in good condition but not quite broken down and sticky enough for Nickel Nickel. Prizes in the crane machines were ugly cheap-o stuffed animals that look like the ones you see in the machines at the Mexican grocery store. Our tokens got stuck in a few different ganemachines. That basketball skeeball game is the dumbest idea ever! The balls keep getting stuck or rolling back out. To top it off, the tickets will get you jack squat because everything was grossly overpriced in the prize area! You probably can't even afford to get a little plastic spider ring for what they're asking, lol. Don't bother. I gave my tickets to a nice family. I visited the arcade at the Round 1 bowling alley at the Moreno Valley mall and quickly realized that I should've saved my quarters! That's a much better and newer Japanese "game center" style arcade, with great prizes in the crane machines and much newer game consoles! read more

This used to be a beautiful place to mini golf. .. Now, it's worn down, unkempt, ghetto and dirty. There are no trash cans so people just leave their trash everywhere... The courses are ripped everywhere, the mats are buckled and trashed, and one of the holes was completely closed due to massive ripping. For $13 a golfer they should be able to keep it up better than this. .. I was completely disappointed! read more

I really don't know what's up with all the so-so or negative reviews. This place is awesome! I came here with my parents as a little girl all the time, now I have the pleasure of taking my own kids. All the rides are a perfect size to were my 4 & 6 year old are able to go on 99% of them, even without an adult shaperon. You can't beat $9.99 for unlimited rides! As many times as I've been, I have never done the mini golf, the arcade, or the water park. I can guarantee you or your children won't be disappointed! read more

So, Castle Park used to be fun, awesome and thriving. Now, not so much. I'm not sure what happened, but somewhere down the line this place changed and not in a good way. When my boyfriend and I first got here, the two employees at the mini golf entrance/desk were having a conversation about smoking pot, drinking alcohol and attending a party with one of the guy's "other girl" after work. Keep in mind, this was going on WHILE my boyfriend and I were paying for our game. This one game of golf for two cost us $20 by the way. Additionally, the carpet on the course is a bit worn down in some places. Finally. The arcade is basically useless. There were hardly any games working and some of them were out of order even though there was no sign placed on them. Others simply didn't dispense the correct amount of tickets. Overall, Castle Park really needs to step up its game. It was fun because I went with my boyfriend, but realistically speaking we won't be doing that again. It's getting a little Run-down. We usually go at night and this is when they charge the most for the parking. If you don't mind walking kinda far, there is a way around that. They have a really crappy parking lot, so I am not sure why it is so steep to park there. Don't plan on eating here. The food is pretty gross. Restrooms stink and are dirty, every time I have been there and we go there maybe 5-10 times a year and it's always the same, stinky dirty restrooms with tons of flies. The midway and rides are shutdown during the weekdays +Nice Employees. +Not exceedingly crowded. +duck pond with duck food (bring quarters) is cute for little kids. It's way up in the center of the mini golf. +the minigolf is a little worn down, but it is the biggest minigolf in the Inland empire. If you live an hour or more away, I will tell you that it is more than likely not worth the trip. read more

Where do I begin with this place lol! We went in and purchased the "dukes knight deal" all 3( buccaneer Cove, rides, golf) we paid ALOT for my family of 4. Every slide at the buccaneer cover is closed except for 1 baby yellow one. So we leave there, 6 rides are closed and half the golf course is closed. Compete disappointment. We what 30 minutes in line for food and the lady forgets to put my daughters corn dogs in the oven or whatever, so we wait another 15 minutes. Then she forgets my popcorn and tokens too. Now I'm in the arcade and the games keep taking our money and not working. Oh and all but 2 food places are closed too! So for $120 in admission we went on 4 rides and one slide. I'm beyond upset with this place lol, its a joke. I don't see how they stay in business every time I go to do something, something is wrong. read more

To tell you the truth, the park itself needed work. Maybe I am just a bit self-protective, but the rides seemed a bit scary, and don't get me wrong, I love thrills, just not the kind where you know there's a chance of the rides breaking down. On the other hand, the mini golf was affordable and the course was huge! Consisting of a total of 4 different courses with 18 holes each. The bummer was that you are only given a score sheet for 2 courses, so I had to use to backside for further calculations. I was impressed with the design of the courses compared to other miniature gold courses that I have previously visited. They had a variation from candy houses, saloons, to a more natural approach of mountains and scenes. It was great and I had a lot of fun for 7.99! read more

My family and I went to Buccaneer Cove today and it was such a terrible experience we left after 20 minutes. It is a complete hassle just parking and getting into Buccaneer Cove. When we finally parked and trudged in we found out the only shade in the place are the cabanas that you have to rent ahead of time. There four slides which of two were working. This made the lines for the working two long and uncontrolled. There seems to be little supervision to control the chaos of kids running everywhere and cutting in line. Granted the cost to go is less than other places. However when you have to pay $6 to park $13 per person regardless of age to find the water features are not all working, it is disappointing. Also, the cement is unbearably hot which adds to the fact there is absolutely no shade. We will never return to Buccaneer Cove and wish that we could get our money back for today. For the price you really can't expect a lot from this place. I guess the only reason why I'm giving it 3 stars is the price, and because my kids like to hang out here. My daughter even celebrated her birthday party here. So the kids are getting hungry and we went to their plaza cafe, it took them 30 minutes to serve us our order of 3 kids meal. It's just chicken nuggets and it shouldn't take that long! Most of the rides are closed and the quality of the food makes the dollar menu at McDonald's look like gourmet. Next time we will go out to eat then come back. Overall it's an ok place to kill time while the kids are having fun. read more
