But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

What exactly am I paying for?…read more Seriously. I purchased a membership for lap swimming, but the reality is that members are constantly competing for access to THREE lanes. Not an entire pool. Three lanes. And apparently the expectation is that up to FOUR adults can share a single lane. Four. There was a day when a third person joined my lane and that was RIDICULOUS. Four people sharing one lap lane is not a quality swimming experience. It's overcrowding disguised as a membership benefit. Then there are the limited hours. Which I was initially fine with until everything else. There are the swim lessons and you will be removed from a lane if the instructor needs the lane you are already in. Then there is the jacuzzi, which seems to spend more time closed than open. I swim three times a week and I honestly can't remember the last time it was available. At this point, why advertise it as an amenity at all? And today I find... the facility is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a swim meet. The only notice given was a piece of paper taped to the door. A piece of paper. In 2026. Members provide phone numbers and email addresses when signing up. Why collect that information if you're not going to communicate closures that eliminate nearly half a week's worth of access? No email. No text. No notification. Just drive over and find out when you get there. The most frustrating part is that none of these issues exist by themselves. It's the combination of all of them. Limited hours. Limited lanes. Overcrowded lanes. Frequent jacuzzi closures. Priority given elsewhere. Unexpected facility closures. Poor communication. Yet the membership price suggests you're paying for a premium aquatic facility. You're not. For less money, I can join a gym with a lap pool, a functioning jacuzzi, longer operating hours, fitness equipment, and significantly better availability. City of La Mirada wants to charge premium membership fees while delivering a consistently limited experience. The entire operation feels incredibly cheap. Cheap communication. Cheap availability. Cheap member accommodations. But somehow not cheap membership prices. If members are expected to share three overcrowded lanes, lose access for entire weekends, receive no meaningful communication, and watch amenities remain closed for weeks at a time, then management needs to answer a very simple question: What exactly are we paying for?

There have been a lot of updates since my last visit just last year. New eating space inside, additional cabanas, and the outdoor pool has also had some upgrades with new sun loungers. There's a lot to do and you can easily spend the entire day here, like we did, filled with fun family friendly activities for all ages. $40 each for a day pass, definitely worth the price for all you can do. The food situation was a little disorganized, they are revamping the food scene inside the actual water park area, but I think once it's all done it'll be fine. We had a fun day!

We stayed for my son's birthday and booked the Grizzly Bear Suite. The room itself was very spacious, which we appreciated, but we specifically paid for a renovated room and did not receive one. We also noticed the air-conditioning units showed they had not been serviced since 2020, which was disappointing considering what we paid. We also purchased a cabana. At check-in, we were told our reservation was there and everything was fine. The following day, when we went to the water park to use it, we were suddenly told we did not have a cabana reservation. We were sent to speak with Alex at the cabana rental area, and unfortunately, he was extremely rude and unhelpful during our interaction. Once we finally got everything sorted out, our cabana even had the wrong name on it. The food situation at the cabana was another disappointment. Honestly, all I wanted was some fake cheese. I wanted a pretzel with cheese or loaded fries, but pretty much everything on the menu involving cheese was unavailable. Our waitress, Iris, was AMAZING. She was one of the best employees we encountered and explained that they had removed a large portion of the menu, but the menus being shown to guests had not been updated. She was incredibly sweet and helpful, and obviously none of that was her fault. But if items are no longer available, the menu needs to reflect that instead of advertising food guests can't actually order. The water park was also extremely crowded and humid. Great Wolf Lodge sells day passes, so overnight guests paying premium resort prices are sharing the same amenities with a large number of additional day guests. I understand offering day passes, but I really think there needs to be better capacity control. When the main reason you're staying at the resort is the water park, it's frustrating when it's so packed that it takes away from the experience. Another thing parents may want to know: if you're not a big drinker, I would personally leave the common areas earlier in the evening or head back to your room. By the end of the day, we saw quite a few adults who appeared very intoxicated, and the atmosphere definitely changed. I do want to recognize the employees who made our stay better. The women working in the buffet area were wonderful and sang happy birthday to my son several times, which made him feel really special. Iris at the cabana was fantastic, and there was also a very tall gentleman working in the bowling area whose name I unfortunately didn't get. He was extremely kind and helpful as well. Honestly, the coolest part might be the commercials because they sell this place REALLY well. I have to give them that. You watch the commercials and expect this amazing, polished family resort experience, and the reality just didn't match that expectation for us. Your kids might absolutely love Great Wolf Lodge. They'll see the slides, arcade, MagiQuest, bowling and activities and probably think it's the best place ever. But from a parent's perspective, I just don't think it's worth the hype for what you're paying. As a travel agent, I look at the overall value of a trip -- accommodations, cleanliness, service, food, amenities, crowds and what a family is actually getting for their money. For a child's birthday getaway, I would personally choose LEGOLAND California Resort instead. You can stay on-site and have LEGOLAND, the water park and SEA LIFE Aquarium, and depending on your dates, the overall price may not be that different. The kids would probably go back tomorrow. The parent paying the bill? I'd spend my money somewhere else.

I completely understand that safety comes first and that they're there to enforce the rules, but the way they communicated came across as rude and overly critical. For example, they corrected a child because their legs weren't hanging off the tube exactly how they wanted, yet there were no posted policies explaining these rules. It would help if expectations were clearly displayed for guests. I also noticed some lifeguards using their cell phones while on duty, which didn't seem very professional. Overall, the park has potential, but the customer service and staff training, especially in how they communicate with families, could use significant improvement.

Or, in our case, we chose to wrap up the summer fun with something simple, nice, and close to home--so we headed to The Wave Waterpark in Vista. This local staple has been around since before I can remember, and returning as an adult brings back a wave of nostalgia. We walked right in without any hassle, and the restrooms and showers near the entrance were fairly clean and convenient. We reserved a private cabana, which I highly recommend for a cool, hassle-free home base during a long day in the sun. There are four water slides and all of them are a blast, featuring clear intensity ratings on the signage so you know what you're getting into before heading up. My whole family loved every slide, though surprisingly, my son said his absolute favorite spot was simply splashing around in the main pool. While slide wait times were smooth and efficient, the line to snag a free single tube for the lazy river can get jammed. We rented a double tube and a single tube directly, which saved us a ton of extra waiting. Standard theme park fare like pizza and nachos are available, but the real winning treats to beat the heat were the Dippin' Dots and root beer floats. We went on as many rides as we can, my son is too short for the bigger rides and unfortunately my nephew is too tall for the kid rides. I couldn't believe how much fun it was when there isn't so many people crowding! A few rides weren't working at the time or they said it's been closed such as the gravity one, sawmill, and a boat one that was covered with a tarp. We had so much fun at the arcade, the prizes are the same as any ticket prize location, lots of games and on a hot day it's such a nice place to sit and relax. We didn't try the mini golf or the buccaneer water play area, it wasn't crowded so we definitely could've gone but we stayed at the rides and the arcade. The only downside is we cannot bring any outside drinks or food, we weren't sure if they would allow us to bring dietary restricted foods if we mentioned allergies or intolerances, but we were fine without our snacks.

When we entered the park, we double checked with everyone if there are rides open for his height and we were told there were plenty. Especially for the bumper car because that's what he's really looking forward to first time at an amusement park. So we spent $100+ to get in. When we got bumper car place, there were people in there already playing. We were the only one waiting there, and i asked that staff lady if my son was tall enough to ride the car. She glanced at me and yelled, 'I'll check later'. Even when the ruler was hided next to her, even when there's no one else in the line, even when she's doing nothing just standing there looking at the adults driving bumper cars... she just had us waited and got my son hope so high. When their turn was done, she slowly pushed the car to the side, took out the ruler behind her stand and told us oh he's not tall enough. I held it in, and asked politely if my son can sit at the passenger seat and I'll drive since there were seat belts. She said no way. Only because my 4 years old was so excited to get in there, I tried again, asking ' There's no one here yet, you don't need to turn on the machine, can he just sit on it and feel the bumper car for one minute?' Again, she said 'no way'. We understand you may have a rule to follow, but you could have tell us the second we ask you if we our height meet your requirement instead of getting a kid's expectations so high, letting him watch others playing and having fun, then turn him down while you are not even doing anything except watching bunch white adults riding the bumper car. Castle park could have a ruler showing at front saying below 42" are not gonna have any rides, instead, they charge full price for kids over 36" while have nothing preparing for them. Our first amusement park experience leaving with tears and upset, my son was crying he said 'I waited. Why can't I play bumper car?' I told him, 'sorry baby, to make sure you are safe, you need to be tall enough to ride that.' And he cried, 'but I waited...'
