The Riverwalk Parkway is so cute! It's perfect for walks, jogs, and bike riding. It's nice to be outside and see nature. It's so convenient for me, and it's almost like I'm not in the city (until I have to cross the street) because of how serene it is. I like taking the time to watch the birds and turtles. The plants and flowers are beautiful as well. River Walk Trail spans for about 3 miles, so it's perfect for some outside time to get steps and take your kids or dog out to roam. The only downside is if you don't live nearby, there's nowhere to park unless you use a nearby shopping center parking lot. There are also no restrooms other than in the businesses on the opposite side of the street. Part of the trail is in a residential area, so you may need to plan ahead, especially if you have small children with you who may need to use the restroom frequently. read more

My favorite hidden gem located in riverside off pierce and 91 fwy . Hubby and I love taking late night strolls here when walking our pup to the river walk dog park across the street . Love the scenery and pond in the middle of the park . Can't forget the many distinct pavilions and trees. No seating area is offered here but great for pictures and a relaxing atmosphere. The pond is a bit dirty at times due to excess algae due to the marine life . Nevertheless a nice neighborhood to check out . Starbucks next door and eateries near are an added plus to a perfect date ! Parking isn't offered here , you will have to park nearby or street parking but make sure to read signs to avoid hefty tickets! read more

It's a cute little park to walk around, but there isn't a parking lot or restrooms. Also be on the lookout, as lots of homeless sleep at this park. I loved to come here to bird watch & take pictures of the bright colored flowers that bloom here. read more

Visited on: 3/14/2021 & 4/18/2021 The experience: it's a very nice area to come and just be in nature and observe the animals. There wasn't a bunch of people so no overcrowding - which was good. People that were there had on masks and/or were in compliance with social distancing. I enjoyed the Gazebo, the pounds and just the overall ambiance of this area. It was very tranquil, serene and relaxing! Would I recommend? Would I return? I would recommend this place to anyone who loves and appreciates animals and being in nature. I have been here twice and definitely will return. read more

Riverwalk is beautiful. It is located right off of the 91 freeway at Pierce Street. The Riverwalk park runs along the road and winds through under a mostly tree covered path. It is accompanied by beautiful ponds with hungry ducks. Riverwalk is a quiet and peaceful place to walk and sit along the ponds. People will bring dogs to walk along, and there is a dog park right across the way not far from Riverwalk. Very pretty and a great way to get outside and enjoy nature. Even though it is close to the freeway and street, it is still quiet and a tranquil place to find solitude and relaxation. Make sure you bring some bread crumbs for the duckies! I love coming here. I used to come a lot with one of my best friends and we would run around and feed the ducks. We even brought a blanket and had a picnic once and it was lovely. read more

I love going her for photoshoots! The park is kind of broken up into sections because of the streets, but each section looks like a completely different place. Picture erfect nature backdrops The upkeep is amazing, I've never really seen any trash like other parks in Riverside that shall go unnamed. The part with the gazebo and all the ducks is usually the most crowded part of the park (if you consider like three families max, crowded), but if you're looking for peaceful and quiet, just walk further along the park. The more out you go, the less people you tend to see. Personally I see something new each time I go. I love this place because amidst the busy city and hectic lifestyles that brings, this is such a peaceful juxtaposition. While you're here you tend to not notice/hear/see all the cars on the main-street just next to you over the ledge. It's a beautiful spot and I am lucky to have found it one summer evening while driving around with some friends. read more

I needed a place to photograph my daughter. She is in her third trimester of pregnancy. Her first baby, my first grandchild. Awwww. We wanted to memorialize this new chapter in her life by going something special for pictures. I drive by this beltway often, but have never stopped. So now was the time. This is a narrow green-way that extends from the 91 Freeway, north for a mile or two, past La Sierra University until you almost reach Pierce Street. While not isolated (it closely parallels the roadway) it is slightly below street level so the sound of the incessant traffic is hardly noticeable. The land is transformed. It has no name, from what I can tell, but it represents a well planned idea. This stretch of public land has been tastefully landscaped into long stretches of easy walkways lined with mature plantings. You will cross over small bridges and stroll along gracious tree lined paths as you follow the man-made stream and ponds. Along the way you will discover lots of ducks, gazebos overlooking the ponds, and sandy and grassy playgrounds for the kids. This is a perfect place for jogging, bike riding, dog walking, bird watching, duck feeding, picnicking, and photographing. You may even see small children riding their bikes with their parents in tow, climbing and jumping on rocks, or dipping their toes in the slow flowing, shallow waters that dance around and over the rocks. You might even find yourself in the mood for some alone time, sitting and communing with nature. This is indeed a good place. Cars can park on the cross streets, try Collette Ave or Flat Rock Dr., as I could not find any parking designated for this delightful park that are on that side of the Riverwalk Parkway. However, there are clusters of industrial buildings that border this park on the east side, with plenty of parking nearby. Across the street on the west side, where Collette Ave. intersects Riverwalk Parkway you might park at the Riverwalk Dog Park. You could also look for the parking lots for Starbucks or further up around Carl's Jr. The payoff is a wonderful family and pet friendly belt of land that gives Riverwalk Parkway its honest name. Let's celebrate a great idea by visiting often. read more

My 1 year old daughter, nice, nephew and I really enjoy walking around this park. It is right smack in the middle of the river walk dog park which is extremely convenient to allow our dog to first roam at the dog park and then we head accross the street to the Riverwalk Parkway to check out the pond and the many adorable ducks that call it home. It is quite beautiful and many people choose it for scenic photo sessions. Although it is located nearby a high traffic street, I always seem to feel relaxed after visiting. The only downside is that the ducks tend to poop everywhere so be aware of that inconvenience. All in all a wonderful spot for an afternoon stroll!!! read more

Went to walk and stretch my legs during my lunch hour. I did laps around the pond area with the gazebo across from the dog park. Parking is by the business buildings and the small pond has a menagerie of water fowl, mostly made up of the usual ducks and weird chicken looking critters. There were a couple of things I noted such as luggage strategically lodged in a tree, a sleeping bag roll hidden in the bushes...nothing frightful just be aware of your surroundings =) read more

Wendy B. has written an excellent, very thorough review already. Riverwalk Parkway is truly one of Riverside's little-known treasures. One interesting feature that Wendy neglected to mention is the fact that this beautifully-designed greenbelt area bordering a busy four-lane thoroughfare is also a delightful wildlife refuge for migratory birds. In addition to hundreds of ducks representing several different species, at various times during the year Riverwalk Parkway is home to an assortment of other birds including Egrets, Herons, Black-necked Stilts and Cormorants. Because food is abundant in and alongside the stream and ponds, these birds coexist amicably in unusually close quarters. The birds at Riverwalk that are typically wary of people and avoid any close contact grow very accustomed to the pedestrians and passing traffic there and are quite approachable. I don't know of anyplace else outside of captivity where you can walk up to within 20 feet of an Egret and not have them fly away. This makes Riverwalk an ideal venue -- unique in my experience -- for photographers wanting to hone their action photography skills with birds in flight. You won't need a monster telephoto lens to capture great action shots, just a moderately long zoom and a healthy dose of patience. Riverwalk gets a lot of foot traffic on nice weekend days, but on a weekday afternoon you'll practically have the place to yourself. The place is not a city park, receives no publicity, and is not designated a special area on any map. I like to park on Pierce St. (the first right turn on Riverwalk Parkway past the apartments north of the 91 freeway). From there very little walking (no more than a quarter mile) on mostly level paved pathways gets you to most of the action. A bonus for photographers is the orientation of the area. Late afternoon sun coming in from the west provides wonderful light for photos. Since it isn't a city park there aren't any restrooms available. However, there is a nice Carl's Jr. restaurant across the street at the corner of Riverwalk Parkway and Flat Rock one block north of Pierce. read more

This park is probably one of my favorites in the area to take my grandchildren when they come visit me. They really enjoy how many ducks are in the area, and the area is beautiful. Sometimes you can see people having photography sessions, especially in the gazebo area. read more

Decided to stop on a whim and I am so glad I did. It was early, EARLY on a Saturday morning and I had the place all to myself with the exception of the ducks. It is a gorgeous place, and I felt re-energized after a few minutes. I pulled out my phone and started taking pictures. It's a great little escape from the daily grind. read more

Met a couple of moms here with our kids to feed the ducks. I unfortunately there is a sign that says do not feed the ducks. It was a nice path along the river to watch ducks and even some turtles. read more

Oh my gosh I just absolutely love taking my grandkids on the walk next to the river. My grand son is 6 years old and he just loves when we bring my day old bread to feed the ducks. He also loves to tell me grandma thank you for helping me feed the ducks. I sure do love him. What makes it even better is my grand daughter walk there new puppy around and they even have the little bags for you to pick up the poop. One thing not everyone picks up the dogs poop. But anyone who like to enjoy a nice slow walk. And I'm 81 years old so get out there and do it! read more

Fairly disappointed. I drove about 30 minutes with my boyfriend for a date there since pictures online made it seem very beautiful, but when we got there we were confused as to where the riverwalk was since all we saw was a dried up rock bed along the street. We realized later that what we were looking at was the riverwalk. We parked and tried it out anyway but it only got worse. The water was gone, there was nothing but a large wall to one side and the road to the other, and when we reached the pond, the stagnant water smelled and very clearly large bugs and algae were growing along the surface. Needless to say we turned around and left quickly after seeing it. Not my favorite location to go for an evening stroll. read more
