Where do I even start?! I can't say enough great things about our experience hosting our sister's bridal shower at Castle Hill Farm. It was perfect in every way! The weeping willows, the beautifully decorated spacious pavillion, the goats spending some time with us, and the hospitality of the Paproski family. Diana, Stephanie, and Dan could not be more accommodating and helpful! The bride-to-be was on cloud nine and loved Diana, who thoughtfully checked in during the shower. A perfect day and venue! Castle Hill Farm is a farm that opened in Newtown, Connecticut in 1927. It was founded by the Paproski Family who have owned it for four generations. Now a retired dairy farm, Castle Hill Farm was once the second largest supplier of dairy products in Fairfield County. In spite of the farm's retired status, the Paproski Family work hard to preserve their 100+ acres through continuing the production of hay and corn fields, growing Christmas trees and seasonal vegetables. In addition to their Farm Stand, Castle Hill Farm also has a petting zoo, hayrides, a Sunflower Stroll, a Corn Maze, a Pick-Your-Own Pumpkin Patch, and other various attractions at different times throughout the year. The farm is also available to book for events such as weddings and baby showers. My family and I recently visited Castle Hill Farm to see their Sunflower Stroll. First we stopped off in their farm stand which was filled with all sorts of fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, corn, peppers, squash, cucumbers, and even local honey. We decided to purchase some delicious looking Graffiti Eggplant as well as a handmade candle that had an intoxicating vanilla aroma. Afterwards we headed into the Sunflower Stroll. Our son had so much fun looking at all of the pretty flowers and pointing out all of the bees. Co-owner Stephanie Kearns told us about other things the farm will be offering in the coming months, including hayrides, the pumpkin patch, and other Fall Fun activities. Went here last week to do some fall activities with the fam - corn maze, hay ride, pumpkin picking, etc; they have it all! We had a great time! The hayride also included feeding the cows which my son loved. The corn maize was long! It took us about an hour to hit up all the stops- it was entertaining though. We also watched some people doing punkin chunkin which I've never seen before; pretty cool. Will definitely be coming back for their other activities. read more

We came here for their humongous corn maze, which did not disappoint! Lots of folks also come here for their pumpkins and hay rides. There are some food trucks available as well. Staff are fantastic at the farm. Their pumpkin field was small and there weren't very many left by the time we visited mid-October. However, the highlight is their corn maze - and we had a blast! Expect to spend about 35-45 minutes in the maze and if it recently rains wear boots. read more

Such a cute gem in Newtown! I was exploring the internet for a cute place to go pumpkin picking and this was quite adorable. I took my boyfriend there on a date (we're both in our mid 20s) and we had a great time. Pumpkin Patch - Not a HUGE pumpkin patch and by the time we got there it was not as plentiful as it could have been (we got there at 3:30pm), but that's on us. We were still able to find a huge pumpkin and cute baby ones. Corn Maze -Major highlight, 100%. Last year it is dedicated to first responders. read more

Picked up tasty, sweet corn that was a welcome change to what can generally be found at today's grocery stores. Corn was sweet and fresh and perfectly ripe. Will be back for more and for the tomatoes as well! read more

We went here instead of their dedicated Christmas Tree Farm, and I think in some ways that there was a better selection of trees here. It's the same set up over at Paproski's Tree Farm - you pick your tree, cut it down, drag it down to the bottom of the hill, and the crew packs it up for you and ties it to your car roof or help you get it in your car. If you're looking for a place to get a tree, this is a great place to go to. read more

What a wonderful find! We randomly stopped and did the corn maze, sunflower walk and picked pumpkins, too. The owner (Diana) is so wonderful -- the entire staff are fantastic and so welcoming. I hope places like this remain in Connecticut forever. Dog friendly, small town values, amazing owners and the produce is to die for, especially the late season tomatoes. I came here with my dog on my way back to NYC after visiting some family in Northwestern Connecticut. I took the scenic route and drove from New Milford, taking route 67 and then 133, going through Bridgewater (ah, high school memories of the fairgrounds), and driving through the main center and that huge flagpole landmark. I arrived late afternoon on a Sunday and asked if they accepted credit cards. They only take cash and checks, understandably, but the kind farmer helped out this city gal by packing me up some corn and plum tomatoes anyway. He said he wanted me to enjoy it and it's too much for just him and his wife to eat. I offered to mail him a check when I get back home and he was genuinely surprised. I dropped the check in the mail a day later, for double the cost of the produce and a heartfelt thank you note. Truly one of the sweetest memories at the end of a road trip I could ask for, and bonus, they are super dog friendly. read more

I've had great times at some of the other local farms in the area, but Castle Hill Farm blows them away in terms of fall fun. They offer real, honest to goodness hayrides that many of us were privileged to experience in past generations. You feed the cows and learn about their lives. They offer a good selection of pumpkins as well as games such as catapulting pumpkins. You can see how some of the old farm equipment functioned as you're waiting for a ride or sometimes pony rides when one of the neighboring farms brings in ponies on the weekend. There are several places set up for great photos that will turn into cherished memories. Hang out around their huge bonfire and warm up while you listen to live local music and grab something to eat from their concession stand. It's a perfect place to hang out while the kids are running around petting the farm animals or playing with hula hoops that have been put out. Hands-down, though, the corn maze is awesome! It comes with a map and even games to play with trivia questions as you go through it. Or you can just go through totally on your own and enjoy the experience. I think I've read that they're the largest corn maze in the state of Connecticut and don't have a problem believing it. I was really bummed that we missed going this past fall because of family issues and date conflicts, but we will definitely be back in 2020! PS Their prices are excellent as well. read more

Came here for a non scary Halloween excursion for my boyfriend's 8 year old twins' enjoyment. They were having some sort of charity event so there were lots of people and our admission included the corn maze,hayride, games, snacks, faice paintin and cowpetting hayride! Can't beat that! The cornmaze was the most confusing I have ever experienced. We (and many others we repeatedly passed) were LOST for at least an hour. My boyfriend and I ended up splitting up, each with a twin. My twin got us out within minutes...lol. He nded up havig to take the emergency exit once he found it. hahaha. The hayride had a cow petting stop and that was fantastic! They also had ponyrides.. well PONY ride.. which created a horribly long line so we had to pass. Anyway, great place for pumpkin picking, hayride, cornmaze combo. Very pleased! read more

What a beautiful family run farm. Came across Castle Hill after doing a google search for a farm where we could cut down our own Christmas tree. So worth the drive from our house...they have 2,000 trees to choose from and it was such a fun experience. We were given hand saws, hot apple cider and cookies too! The gentleman who was running it was so friendly...he helped string and put the tree on our car. Can't wait to go back next year! read more
