Overall, I would say our experience at Harvest Moon was just okay. My kids enjoyed themselves,…read morewhich is ultimately what matters most, but I have to say the experience was extremely expensive, especially compared to other farms we've visited.
To start, I accidentally purchased tickets for a Harvest Moon in Florida, which cost me $96. I'm still trying to get a refund and hoping someone eventually gets back to me. That was an unfortunate mistake on my part, but the real shock came when we arrived at the actual farm.
Admission alone was $178 for my husband, our three boys, and me, or $150 if we paid cash. I chose to pay by card because I wanted to save my cash for purchases inside the farm. For that price, you would think apple picking would be included, but it wasn't! Apple-picking bags were an additional charge, starting at $15 for a small bag, $25 for a medium, and increasing from there.
Then came the food. Anyone with kids knows that pizza is usually the easiest option, so naturally, that's what my boys wanted. A tiny pizza cost $18! Was it good? Yes. Was it worth $18? Absolutely not.
Another frustrating aspect was that food and drinks were sold in separate locations, meaning you had to wait in multiple lines just to get a complete meal. When you're visiting with three children, that becomes exhausting very quickly. One of my sons has ADHD, and the additional waiting and lack of convenience made that part of the experience particularly difficult for him.
I also want to mention that the farm is not particularly sensory-friendly, although, to be fair, this is something I've noticed at many farms and similar family attractions. Between the crowds, noise, long lines, and overall stimulation, the environment can become overwhelming for children with sensory sensitivities or neurodivergent children. I understand that farms are naturally busy, especially during the fall season, but I wish more family attractions would consider ways to make the experience more inclusive. Designated quiet areas, sensory-friendly hours, or more streamlined food and admission processes could make a tremendous difference for families like ours.
I don't mind spending money on a memorable family outing, but when you're paying nearly $180 just to walk through the entrance, I expect a little more to be included and a more convenient experience once inside. The additional charges add up incredibly quickly, especially for families with multiple children.
At the end of the day, my boys had fun, and I'm grateful for that. However, as a parent, I found the experience overpriced, unnecessarily inconvenient, and not particularly accommodating for families with children who have sensory needs.
Harvest Moon has the potential to be a wonderful fall family destination, but I think there is significant room for improvement when it comes to affordability, accessibility, and the overall family experience. I'm not sure I would return at these prices, especially knowing there are other farms offering similar experiences for less.
