As my levels increase so do the locations in which to ride. That said, my new-found riding home is Summit Farm, located in North Salam, NY. Truth be told, with the recent move of my coach Michelle Nardini and my recent proficiency at riding, the time was perfect to change the environment and invest into a new horse. Established in 2003, Summit Farm is a family oriented equine facility located in the heart of North Salem. Ashley Yozzo, the incredible and delightful owner, prides herself and her aMARzing team on educating new and seasoned riders with a focus on Hunters and Equitation all while maintaining a fun, enjoyable atmosphere. Summit Farm is also on the North Salem Bridle Trails, a beautifully maintained trail system, which allows riders-from beginner to advanced-the delightful and moving opportunity to experience trail riding among some of the most beautiful vistas. When I arrived there for the first time I noticed a poster reading: "Ladies Trail Ride, a sunset trail ride finished off with refreshments." The trails combined with the sunset lighting sounded wonderful, so I asked "Can I come?" They kindly accepted and so without skipping a beat the Ladies Trail Ride quickly became The Ladies Trail Ride with Mar! As the only gentleman I was both thrilled and excited to participate with the ladies. But would they embrace me into this group? The fun photos show that we all bonded together as if we were kindred friends for decades. Now that was a beautiful night. Faces familiar and new were framed with the backdrop of Summit Farm; it was both a treat and a divine experience as we all watched the sunset glow on our smiles of enjoyment. This place is magical! Not just because of the location or the new friends gathered but the passion and love we all shared for the sport underscored by the beauty, the sunset and of course the fun wine & cheese gathering after the ride.

I purchased a horse named Lovely Day from Ashley Yozzo last September via online auction. I was…read morevery excited to start riding again after decades out of the saddle. Ashley told me Lovely was very safe and would be great for me. Ashley seemed really nice and I trusted her. She said that Lovely Day was on hormones but she keeps all her mares on hormones. On the day before she was being shipped, Ashley said she bucked but it was probably from the change in weather (looking back I see that Ashley was trying to cover her lies and prepare me for some form of danger). When she arrived and settled into her new barn she was very, very lazy and refused to go forward. I called Ashley and she said, yes, she can be lazy but just hit her with the crop and she'll go. Well, when I used the crop she bucked. In fact, she bucked 2 riders off. When I called Ashley to say I feared for my 57 year old life, she said to give her hormones. However, the vet said her hormone level was good and didn't need drugs. When I switched barns in March, the new trainer noticed she couldn't lengthen her stride going left so she had the vet look at her. It was discovered she had an old injury to her left hind. The vet gave her steroids which led to laminitis. We found out through the radiographs that she had previous laminitis before making it even more serious. We tried everthing possible to save her but could not. I will live with this for the rest of my life and blame myself for not being able to help her. If Ashley had been honest and told me the truth I could have gotten Lovely the treatment she needed :(

Adriana "sold" my family a horse, and due to circumstance we could not take him home right away,…read moreshe proceeded to control our every touch with the horse and would yell at us for grooming him. (taking out braids) Then wouldn't let us take him home when we said we were picking him up. horse was severely obese and way out of shape... Obviously she has no regard to the actual care of the horses. It takes a long time for a horse to get this overweight... feel bad we could not help him. She took our check (for way more than asking price) and board check , never gave us a bill of sale (said she would email it)(dirty sales I think) But she was soo sweet about it. Let us think for two weeks he was ours, and only found out he wasn't ours when she didn't cash our checks. And we were not allowed to take "our" horse off the property. We have many witnesses, we are not lying or slandering, She even had her daughter babysit us while we were there, she thinks that drafts are different than taking care of regular horses. (We own a percheron already) She is a control freak. Stopped payment on the checks and never looked back. Just warning people to not purchase from her or even go there. Plenty of other places around that actually care and exercise their horses. Can show text messages as proof if you would like..

Candlelight Farms has such a magical charm about it…read more We were referred here by one of our good friends neighbors. Nancy was a wonderful host. She was able to accomodate us and our almost 6 month old. She had a pack and play already set up in the room for us! Everything was clean. Quiet. The parfaits so simple and delicious. I loved the charm of this place with great company and beautiful grounds. We got to meet Fiona the donkey so sweet my little one loved it Highly recommend!

We enjoyed the rehearsal dinner on the porch of the building next to the large silo. It was right before sunset, so we got to enjoy the gorgeous view of the land, trees, and lake while the August sun went down. There was a lovely breeze and we enjoyed our meal under twinkling string lights. There were tons of beautiful flowers blooming around the grounds, and we enjoyed lawn games on the rolling green grass. The next day, for the ceremony, we were located down by the lake. The ceremony took place on a lawn in front of a beautiful old tree, facing the water. Afterwards, we made our way into the old barn and enjoyed cocktail hour and the reception. The space was well designed and the whole experience was magical; candles and simple draperies. A beautiful breeze flowed through the venue as the rumble of thunder echoed in the distance. Despite the thunderstorm that passed through, we were safe and dry inside the barn. All in all, one of the most beautiful and magical wedding venues I've seen.
