I originally pooh-poohed the place going solely by the Googly pics but OMG so glad Steve chose this place! Many plants and beautiful irises outside. BUT...I stepped INSIDE the store and the first thing I noticed was the bakery section. Okay, so only one item was gluten free (local bakery offerings) but they were lavender meringues and they were only $1 each! A super unique treat for me! Steve found the freezer with the meat. YOU MUST BUY THE MEAT! Buy ALL the BACONS! We fried up the Irish bacon today (had to find out how to cook it just right) and it was soooo good. Very different and much much much better than any store bought bacon. We also purchased Canadian bacon to try later this week. The tomatos were the first of the season. I cut one up for a tomato, spinach and brie omelette and the tomato flavor stood out. Very very good flavor! I would love (and hope to) return for produce this summer...and for eggs. Some of the items were a bit pricey for us (bacon was a steal for the quality, though) like the bourbon maple syrup and the duck pastrami however these are top notch products I have not seen anywhere else and honestly, the syrup is on my shopping list now if I do ever get back to Holbrook Farm. We also bought local coffee but haven't ground the beans yet. BTW the proprietress was very kind and patient and lovely. Please visit!

Unfortunately, after our visit, my husband developed a severe poison ivy reaction, including extensive blistering and oozing on his arms and neck. He had difficulty sleeping because of the constant oozing and he had to miss work for 4 days. Two weeks later, he's still experiencing significant discomfort even after seeing doctors and being treated with steroids. We understand that poison ivy can naturally grow in outdoor environments, but we feel the farm failed to warn guests about the potential presence of poison ivy, particularly in areas where families and children are walking. What made this experience even more upsetting was how the farm handled our concerns. I emailed the farm on 9/29 and received no response. So I called them on 10/2 and ultimately spoke to Christina. I told her what happened and that I wanted to report the incident/seek reimbursement for medical bills. Initially she said they've never had a case of poison ivy which is false if you look at their Yelp reviews. Then she told me that she will address my concerns on Monday as their farm is "entering a busy weekend" which seems to be more of a priority than addressing our concerns. Eventually Christina called my husband and denied all responsibility. She was rude and dismissive. She claimed that we can't prove that my husband got it from the farm even though that's the only place we went over the weekend before he developed the blisters. This was an extremely unpleasant experience for our family, and based on how our concerns were handled, we would not recommend Harvest Moon Farm & Festival to other families.

We had a wonderfully impromptu weekend sojourn to Fable Farm this past Saturday to pick up some local cider and donuts. Little did we know that Fable is also home to a slew of chickens and goats who are packed with personality and pluck, and totally made our day with their sweet and adorable antics! We had a great time watching the animals hang out and peck around their spacious pen enclosure, safe from the masked onlookers who came to gawk at the majesty of farmland critters. Honestly, any interactions with cute barnyard characters is a high point to my day, so Fable gets five stars on that alone! We also loved the local farmer's market that sets up here, and even though it was close to closing for the day, we were able to browse around for a bit. I didn't buy anything, but the produce looked fresh and there were lots of other locally made goods like honey and soaps. We'll be back for sure next time when we have more time to look around at all the offerings! The local cider and scrumptious donuts were our initial mission, and they did not disappoint. The cider was juicy and tangy, and I couldn't stop drinking it for the rest of the evening once we got home. I was able to limit myself to one cider donut (brushed with cinnamon sugar - yum!), but that was so difficult! My boyfriend's mom was delighted with the cider donuts we brought home for her, too. They had plenty of pollinators that attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bumble bees, etc. Plants and plugs were $4 - $5 each. We purchased a tray of about 40 + They also have fresh farm produce, honey, jam for sale.
