As a wedding photographer, this has been one of my bucket list venues. I didn't realize that it was in the heart of old town until one of my couples booked a wedding here. This has been one of my favorite venues to shoot at! The architecture is beautiful, and there are so many options to take photos. They are strict about certain things because it is a historical venue but all of those things are transparent and laid out to you from the get-go so you are not caught off guard. Everybody says the same thing: "oh, it's too pricey." Here's the thing, though. It's worth it! Every single dime. My wife and I were married here on July 27th. We booked the venue back in EARLY 2018 and from day one, Dior and Alexis were incredibly attentive and genuine with our needs. Each time we got to speak with them, we felt more and more at ease. The decor is gorgeous. There's no need for decoration, if you don't want it. The history of this place creates an elegant ambiance that's both casual and sophisticated. The over-hundred year old furniture is refurbished to really make you feel like you're approaching the turn of the century, and the Rose Parade can wait because you're having an excellent time. The Castle becomes a person of its own, that you DON'T have to struggle to get an RSVP from. You're limited with whom you can use as a vendor. But that doesn't matter, because you're going to fall in love with a lot of their choices (We went with Romanesque Catering. Truly, nobody better). We are not wealthy people, by any stretch of the imagination. But that did not stop the staff at the Castle from treating us like pureborn royalty. After visiting numerous wedding venues, my daughter selected Castle Green for her wedding in May of 2019. The coordinator, Dior, was very easy to work with. We were able to attend their vendor open house event and ended up selecting our caterer (Castle Catering), our florist (Flowers by Sharen), our DJ (VOX DJs) and our day of coordinator (La Bella Dia) from their preferred vendors. A few Yelp reviews mention that there are a number of rules as this is a historic venue. The rules are in place, but not at all difficult to work with as you are aware of them up front. I will mention that Samantha (La Bella Dia) was on the spot to keep us within the parameters and we did not have any issues at all. The ability to bring in your own alcohol to this venue saves a ton of money. The venue itself is visually stunning and a beautiful backdrop for your event. We visited many different venues around Los Angeles, Glendale, Arcadia, and Pasadena for our wedding ceremony and reception. We ended up choosing Castle Green, not just because of the historical architecture and mesmerizing view, but because of the customer service. Dior, the Event Manager at Castle Green, was such a pleasure to work with. She was always smiling and so fun to be around with. We also met and worked with Alexis. She was so friendly and helpful. We loved working with them both. The venue was definitely one of the pricier expenses for the wedding but it was seriously worth every time. You get the venue for the entire day. We maximized our time there with our first look, tea ceremony, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The venue fit our amount of guests of a little over 100 very comfortably. Everyone raved about the venue. My now-husband's mom even said it was the perfect venue. We were so excited to host our wedding here because it was no-like any other wedding venues that we've been to. From the set-up, the capacity of the multiple rooms, the layout, to the many, many, many places to take photos within Caste Green, I have no regrets choosing Castle Green for my wedding. Venue Search #2 I was looking for mansions/museums/barns for a antique feel to it. I looked at various websites and as a avid yelper, I looked among yelp as well as Here Comes the Guide, The Wedding Channel/The Knot, and other wedding websites. This placed looked beautiful in photos. I scheduled a visit in the afternoon with Shannon. I walk by Castle Green all the time (since I work in Pasadena) and never noticed it. I came to the gate and was buzzed in. When you enter, the lawn is pretty taken care of. They have a fountain and it was pretty. I came in and put my stuff down and filled out information for Shannon. She came down and started giving me the tour (she also gave me a packet with information on catering and such). The cocktail hour setting (indoors) was gorgeous. Very antique and historic. I loved the structure and furniture... then we walked to the ballroom... I was kinda disappointed... it was able to fit 200 guests but it looked pretty tight especially if you wanted a dance floor. Also, the walkway was straight through the ballroom so it kinda separated the sections. I wasn't a big fan of that because then waiters and just people can walk back and forth in the hallway. It just felt separated. They would provide the tables, chairs, linens and such, which is standard. They also had their own caterers but you could also have a outside caterer for additional fee of $10/per person and to be approved by Castle Green. Totally fine. For the ceremony, you need to provide your own chairs and decor. So you bring your own arch and such. This part of Pasadena can get noisy because it's Old Town Pasadena. She said it would be quiet during the 3-6 period and that's when the ceremony should be. It's gated all around so that is nice. I wasn't really impressed with the exterior of the Castle. The interior looked nice (that cocktail room) but other than that... it was alright. PARKING: Valet $22 per car Parking garages - $6 max (first 90 min free) She didn't give me the option to buy validated parking from her for the parking garage. Also, I thought about the girls in heels walking from the parking garage to the castle and felt bad. They didn't even offer parking for the bride/groom. PERSONALITY: I felt like I didn't click with the coordinator. She was so nice but I really felt like I wasn't really welcomed or wanted. I don't know. I just didn't feel comfortable talking or expressing my questions or thoughts to her. And you always want to feel comfortable talking to the coordinator. Overall, the place is nice and historic, but it just didn't move me the way I wanted it to. A large renaissance hotel - looking structure right smack in the middle of Pasadena. I think its used as apartments and as an event venue these days. My cousin's wedding was held here, and it did make for some gorgeous photographs! I suppose they call it a castle because it does have a covered allure connected to a watchtower, connected to the rest of the main building that gives it a scenic look to it... I attended a wedding here recently and found Castle Green to have a lot of charm and character. It was a lovely and excellent choice to have a wedding basically adjacent to Old Town Pasadena. The venue had a number of distinct areas for the ceremony, the cocktails, reception, cake and desserts, dancing and photo booths for small to medium sized weddings (up to 75-100 people?). The different spaces allowed guests to be moved from one area to another. At the same time, it allowed staff to set up between different parts of the wedding. One unfortunate shortcoming was the audible (and sometimes loud) traffic sounds of the busy street outside during the ceremony. You can't hear any street noise once you are inside the venue. Be sure to allow extra time to park in the public parking lots nearby (as a couple of lots we went to were filled up by 4 pm) and then you need time to walk up to a few blocks over. Or save the hassle and just Uber/Lyft. I have to admit, I never knew such a quaint and cute place existed despite having been a SoCal resident since I was 7. read more

We love Rosalinda! I wasn't one of those brides that had their dream wedding planned since they were 5 years old. The wedding planning seemed a bit daunting and I was extremely nervous. After meeting with Rosalinda I was super excited and confidant about the wedding planning process. Unfortunately, Castle Green was the first venue we looked for our May wedding so we had to do our due diligence and look at other venues. No other venue compares to Castle Green, not in LA county, OC county, and Ventura county. We spent months looking at other venues before we finally agreed that Castle Green was the place for us. Not only does Castle Green offer distinctive architecture but also multiple spaces (indoor & outdoor) that's fenced off so you don't have to worry about strangers walking in off the street or kids wandering off. Also, I loved the fact that it's so hidden, I felt we were treating ourselves and our wedding guests to a behind-the- scenes treat. But you're in the heart of Old Town Pasadena so guests don't need to drive far and there's plenty to do nearby. The multiple spaces was important because I wanted there to be a flow, guests start in one section and move through new spaces for different parts of the wedding. I'm not a fan of weddings where guests are corralled into one giant room (usually done at hotels). There were some cons but we were able to overlook or work around them. The first is the price, Castle Green does charge a high venue rental fee (understandable when you see the historical place) so we had to increase our budget just to rent this place. Since this is SoCal we always look at the parking situation, there is no parking lot for Castle Green but we were able to get validated parking tickets from our caterer for the nearby School House parking structure so our guests didn't have to pay. Being a weirdo I also judge on bathrooms, the ladies restroom was tiny and only had 2 stalls (maybe 3); however, I heard no complaints and the bride gets her own restroom in the bridal suite. =) In the end we were both happy that Castle Green was our wedding venue and look forward to visiting it again on our anniversary! read more

My husband and I absolutely fell in love with Castle Green as soon as we stepped inside the front doors. Don't get me wrong, the venue is stunning from the outside as well but it isn't until you step inside that you feel yourself taken back in time. The venues is kept in immaculate condition which is impressive considering that almost everything inside is vintage or an original. Because it was so beautifully decorated inside already, we didn't have to worry about bringing in our own decorations. Also don't feel limited to the vintage feel of the venue. We had a lot of fun with our wedding and used a lot of both vintage element and modern colorful components. The beauty of the venue really speaks for itself. The staff there at Castle Green are AMAZING! They really made us feel so comfortable as soon as we walked in and they really were an integral part of our team through the whole wedding planning process. I really can't say enough about how genuine both Dior and Rosalinda were in wanting to create a memorable and truly unique wedding experience for us. If it weren't for those two ladies, it really wouldn't have been the same. Lastly, they're very flexible on the catering and you can bring your own alcohol which is a huge money saver. I would highly recommend that you speak to Ron at Castle Catering if you're going to have your reception here. He's so easy to work with and they have a program where they partner with a lot of different local restaurants so they can offer you a wide array of cuisines. If you love a local Pasadena restaurant, chances are you can have them bring their food in to serve your guests. It's so easy and very convenient. This is a place that my husband and I were seriously considering for our wedding venue. Its so unique with its vintage vibe and classic decor. We came here for a wedding celebration. It's a pretty venue, but the ceremony was held outdoors and all the noise of the city can be heard. There were several times I couldn't hear because of the ambulance or just honking of the cars. Also, there is no on-site parking, so we had to look for parking around the venue. read more

Because several of our friends were expecting, we had to plan our wedding on a three month timeline. While we were looking around for a venue we checked Castle Green, a historical building in Pasadena at that we had often walked by. The site coordinator Tatiana was absolutely wonderful to work with from the moment we set foot on the site all the way through the wedding day. She responded quickly to our emails, answered all of our questions clearly, and was happy to arrange site visits several times before the wedding. She was also very honest and transparent. When we asked her about the cake cutting fee, Tatiana immediately told us they don't do small, "hidden" fees at Castle Green, something we hugely appreciated. The bespoke catering provided by Little Lily Kitchen's was a unqiue proposition compared to catering at other venues and proved to be a real game-changer: everything from the hors d'ourves to the entrees were absolutely delicious. We similarly had great experiences with all of the other approved vendors we worked with from coordinator to photographer and everything in between. It was obvious all of them had formed a tight knit Castle Green family with the goal of making every event there successful. On the day-of we had Bella guiding us through the day. She was similarly a delight to work with even as whirlwind of a day as it was for us and helped to make sure we got everything we needed. Additionally, our guests unanimously expressed to us that the venue was amazing and several told us it was the best wedding they'd been to. Castle Green was the perfect venue or our wedding. Came here for their tour. They have it open only a couple times out of the year for anyone who is interested in seeing a few of the condos. It was interesting to see each tenant fill their space up with however they wanted but the retro building stayed unchanged. The air is very dense and it's definitely haunted. I did not feel good walking around. Something was off with this place but anyways. The tenants seemed ok. Some hated photos being taken and some would take the photos for me. So it was a good mixture of folks sharing their love of Pasadena, this old building and their life in general. It's a good self-tour. It's around $35 a person. Gorgeous venue! I had my wedding here a few years ago and I really loved how it turned out. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the venue is so beautiful that you don't have to spend too much money on decor. The biggest downfall of this place is that they did not have AC in any of the rooms except the main ballroom. Even though I got married in the fall, it was sweltering hot and my guests suffered from the lack of AC. It just doesn't make sense to not have AC in southern California. Given how hot it was during my wedding, I cannot imagine how hot it must be for people who have their wedding during summer. Other than the AC, everything was great and beautiful. read more

Hello everyone! So my wife and I had our wedding here and it really is a beautiful wedding venue. Very spacious and doesn't need much decoration because it already looks good. But the biggest advantage to this venue is that you can bring your own alcohol! And if you have research weddings or experienced your own you know alcohol can cost a ton if you don't bring your own! So that was a huge advantage if that is something you are looking for. Now the draw backs of this place are there are a lot of rules and the cost isn't cheap either of course. For example kids a certain age will require a babysitter and there is a limit to how many people can be inside for the reception. There is also a vendor list they provide to you that you have to choose from. But Dior and Danielle are very nice and so helpful so they are more than willing to answer any questions you may have and will do their best to make you wedding smoother. My wife and I booked Castle Green for October 1, 2016 for our wedding. We went through several venues in the area, Lankham, Hilton, and other hotels/banquet halls, but they were either too plain or too expensive or restricted us to use THEIR catering company and vendors. We ended up with Castle Green because it just looks so rustic and beautiful, inside and out. It's over 100 years old and is a historical landmark. FYI, book it early as they do fill up fast and they pretty much are booked EVERY Saturday. Plus the venue is nice enough to do our bridal party pictures, ceremony, AND reception in one place. Upstairs are apartments in which tenants live...so they do have some restrictions in loud music, how late you can stay, appointments to visit venue, etc...But good thing about them, you can have the ENTIRE first floor, including the lobby, ballroom, turkish/moorish room, sunroom, patios, foye, and large yard. This is great if you have a lot of people and kids (we had 200 adults and 30 kids). We worked with Dior, the director, and Danielle, one of her assistants. They were so accommodating for us, as strict as the venue can sound. They worked with us continuously to help us move the wedding along. But be warned, they do have things due a month before, a week before, etc...which is a long checklist of things to do or show to the venue. So stay on top of things and do things EARLY. Both Dior and Danielle are super friendly and helpful and extremely approachable. THey let us visit the venue at our convenience when we needed to show vendors, our parents, etc. They even will allow us, after the wedding, to bring my wife's Grandma to come to the venue to see it as she was too sick to make it for our Oct 1 date. Come wedding time, they provided a venue supervisor to make sure everything is being followed, including the timeline, and to make sure we don't break any of the venue's requirements. We were allowed in at 1:30pm and had to be out at 10:30pm (vendors at 11:30pm for cleanup), otherwise an $800 overtime charge per hour would have been charged. I wish they extended their hours but it makes sense cause of tenants living upstairs. Venue was gorgeous after the ceiling swags, the uplighting, and all the decorations. We all had a good time and I'm going to miss this venue. We're thinking of doing our 1 year anniversary here but it's quite a bit of money. The yearly tours may have to suffice for now :) In summary, this is a GREAT place for a wedding or event. It's a hidden gem in old town Pasadena, close to everything, especially the bars and food! They treat you extremely well and walk you through everything. They do get behind in emails sometimes, so I recommend calling if you need something ASAP. Came here for my friends wedding in 2014 and it was awesome! Their theme was similar to the Roaring 20's and the venue catered to the theme exceptionally well. I uploaded a picture of the outdoor ceremony and the way it was set up was quite beautiful. Located in Old Pasadena next to Central Park, the venue is somewhat private since it is surrounded by a wall which is great for privacy. Passer by's can hear what is going on but can't really see what is going on. This venue is nice for spring weddings and outdoor ceremonies, because since the building is so old, I am not sure if they have any air conditioning inside. The decor and feel of the place is very classic! Reminded me of the Great Gatsby. lol The reception was indoors and the appetizers and hor d'oeuvres were great. The food in general was pretty good, and I am not positive if my friends had outside caterers or if Castle Green catered all the food, but it was excellent. This is a delayed review but much deserved. I had my pre-wedding photo shoot booked there a few years ago, we worked with Shannon, pretty unprofessional, rude, and dismissive. I am the director of sales for a catering and banquet hall so I was stunned on the way they treated us here knowing full well the value of customer service. We booked with them 2 months before our wedding. 1 week before our wedding they called us and told us they accidentally double booked us, although she checked the calendar in front of me and they were empty, she said we have to change your time to later in the afternoon, I explained that's when my church ceremony is and it's not possible, she said then do it one day before, I explained that's not possible either, so she continue to simply tell me ok we'll refund your money, go somewhere else! I was so frustrated at this point. 1 week before your wedding you have to deal with incompetent selfish people like this who probably just booked an event for a higher value and wanted to get more money so they inconvenience others. Greedy people with no integrity. To make matters worse, as I explained to her that we are not able to move our date and they simply have to tell the other person they just booked to move their time she hung up the phone on me, I called back and she picked up with an attitude, I said is this how you treat your customers, she hung up again, and without talking to me any further simply refunded the deposit with no authorization and cancelled my event. This place is a joke, If you want to work with selfish people with no integrity, book now! They are waiting for you! Ask for Shannon, she will be exactly the person you want to work with! read more

It's rather hard to get into Castle Green, but once you get to see the inside it's pretty cool. I was able to attend an art/charity show/Halloween party there so I got to walk around some of the beautiful, decorated halls here. Coming here is like time traveling to the early 1900's. The architecture and the color are just about as they used to be back in the day--such upkeep is impressive and a good thing, certainly. Admittedly, since the party was held at certain areas of Castle Green, I didn't really get to explore, which probably would've been just as impressive. I appreciate it more as a historical marvel than anything in particular. Except for people who actually live here, Castle Green is closed to the public, except for special occasions and those few days of the year when they give tours. read more

We had high hopes for a possible wedding venue here, but was a bit disappointed especially since the pictures on several websites looked so gorgeous. I was seriously going to book this place and had a check & the contract with me until we went inside. I think it can be a great venue for a lot of couples, but maybe not us. The fiance and I had some different ideas that we realized after seeing this place, so it was a good experience to visit. After making a quick appointment, Marcela showed us around and we were quite happy with the service. From the outside, green lawn is great, the pond/fountain is very pretty, and the outside view is gorgeous. Very majestic and historic structure. Great for photographs. Has lots of potential with some decorations for an outdoor ceremony. Inside looked almost like pictures but not as fascinating. If you're going for an antique look with lots of vivid colors (i.e. red, green, gold, etc.), this might just be the perfect place. As far as summer events go, be sure to get AC (optional for $300) for ballroom because it gets HOT!! Also be aware that the AC only activates in the ballroom.... Also btw, unlike what Sue A. mentioned, outside catering actually costs $10/head. Also there's no kitchen inside. And consider renting the parking structure nearby, as parking can cause headaches for your guests. If you're considering here for wedding, by all means book an appointment for a tour and actually come here. Maybe you'll fall in love with it, maybe you won't. Layla was very unwelcoming from the start. She didn't bother to introduce herself properly, and basically ignored my Fiancé. Out of the 15-20 venues I've visited throughout LA and Orange County, she was the only tour guide that made it seem like she would rather be somewhere else than giving us a tour. Towards the end she got extremely catty and rude when we asked her to clarify my path as a bride towards the ceremony site. Definitely not someone I'd trust with my big day. This is a popular place to get married obviously. It's beautiful, it's majestic, and is in a great location. When you enter the front gate, you walk into a front yard and garden on both sides of the walk way. The wedding I attended here was attended by about 100 people. The best feature of the wedding is being amongst so many friends in a beautiful place. The worst parts was the audible traffic and poor sound management. You couldn't always here what was said because of the background noise and poor audio. I would expect more from a place that frequently has weddings. Walking into the ground floor of this castle, you see an elegant, traditional entry and several rooms setup to resemble its hey day. There's great detail in each room with a lot of beautiful interior decorations and furniture. I can see why this place is so popular. If they could control or better manage the noise when a wedding is going on, the experience would have been more enjoyable. Sadly, parking is limited to street parking or valet, which I did not see any valet services when we got there. So we had to fish around for meter parking which was also a little annoying. The moment my husband (then fiance) and I walked into this place, we were absolutely in love! We wanted a unique venue to have our reception, and something near St. Phillips where we were being married. The gorgeous lawn, fountain, and the lovely decor inside was breathtaking. You'd half expect to see someone in a tux and top hat to walk in! Our video was so incredible, you'd think we got married at a 1800's mansion. This venue was perfect for us because we wanted to do a korean wine ceremony in one of the rooms, and we were able to do this with plenty of room for ppl to watch. Normally this is a ceremony meant for family only, but my father felt that everyone should get a chance to see it since many of our guests were not korean. yes, this venue is incredibly expensive, but we saved money by getting an outside caterer...who knew that getting a nice korean buffet was so cheap!! The venue did charge us $5 extra a head for that, but it was well worth it. We had a lot of compliments on the food :) this was a perfect place for an unforgettable day. My boyfriend and I attended a good friend's wedding here this past weekend, and I must say it was absolutely gorgeous. Everything from the outer courtyard where the ceremony was held, to the immaculately decorated period elements on the inside, to the picture perfect reception room, to the adorable bathrooms. I'm jealous that people actually get to live in this building....that is until it was ten o'clock and there were 120 drunk wedding guests dancing and singing to "we are family" in the downstairs of their building. The inside and outdoors of the house are kept at an immaculate standard, and the staff was very kind and accommodating. The walk down to the mens restroom and the storage rooms down there feel almost like a haunted house. Creepy and cool. In some of the paintings on the walls you can see how the castle has changed over the years and that there was once a walkway that connected one building to another on the opposite side of raymond avenue. This house is just seeping with ambiance and history, like Great Gatsby style. I loved everything about it. I'm sure to host a wedding here is beyond expensive and I am totally jealous that our friends got to do it. They also offer guided tours of the building during the day. Everything was absolutely beautiful. I think the only downside was hearing a ton of street noise during beautiful vows being read, and the fact that there are a few pillars in the reception room that block views from the table. Also, parking is in a garage just down the street for six dollars, but worth every penny to be able to attend a wedding in this inspiring and beautiful castle overflowing with ambiance.(And the parking is literally like a two minute walk away) I am tearing up just from the memories...and its only been two days since the wedding. Hmmm. I think the champagne was rotten? Well let me elaborate. Upon arriving at Castle Green, what I'd seen was unexpected from what pictures had shown on website. Looking at website pictures, I thought there was a whole new side of Pasadena (or a far off hidden part of Pasadena I'd never known about). I love historical landmarks - and history in general - so I thought this place would be an exciting place to experience a venue. As I drove through downtown Pasadena (to get to Castle Green), I thought I was lost. If it weren't for my beloved nav, I don't know what I'd do!! I see a gothic like fence. Goth doesn't scare me, I thought the whole gated museum like mansion looked gorge from outside. However, as I turned the corner to find parking at the nearest parking structure - I thought I'd entered 5th and Crenshaw or somethin. There were a group of young men dressed to me in gangsta attire and needless to say yeah, I was scurrrrred. I thought, wait - whu? This can't be right?? But just a few seconds into driving in, I saw lush greenery, ladies and gents in gorge gowns and suits, so yeah, knew I was safe after all. Enter gothic like historical landsite castle. It's no Hearst, but it was very interesting with all the period furniture, the ghostly ballroom which echoed an aura of the Haunted Mansion's ballroom and Disneyland's Magic Kingdom. The cast of characters at Castle Green, meaning the um, servers..were not as on top of their game. Clumsy, unprofessional, slightly rude - and you could just tell they were frazzled. But shouldn't they be used to doing venues if they work there?? Weird. Then again, maybe they were frazzled because they'd forgotten to replace the hundred year old bubbly they provided all the guests? I thought I was drinking rotten tarty apple cider for a moment. So yeah. My opinion only. It was a good experience to see the place at least. :) read more

Search for a wedding venue #2. Let's just say, I fell in LOVE with this place! I loved everything about it, from the outside to the inside. I loved how the place felt and how it was so unique in its own way. It was literally like feeling like a princess in a castle. The only problem was probably the reception area. It didn't look like it would fit 200 people and my fiance kept questioning that. The lady that helped us seemed nice but I kind of felt rushed. It seemed like she had back to back appointments every 30 minutes. Right when we left, we saw her help another couple who just came. I guess this place is really popular! The cool part about this venue was that outside alcohol was allowed, and it was ONLY $10 per head for outside catering. Also, we could get the whole place for ourselves during our wedding. There were so many pros to this place and I wanted to book it right then and there. But I knew I had to be patient and look at other venues. I really loved this venue! read more

When my then-fiance and I first got engaged, we knew that the venue for our reception was going to be the first big hurdle in the wedding planning process. We had decided right from the start that we didn't want to have our reception in a hotel - for a few reasons: 1) it's where the majority of wedding receptions happen and 2) we didn't want to share space with other weddings happening at the same location. In short - we wanted to be a little different. And how many people can say they celebrated their wedding day in a Castle? As long-time patrons of architectural landmarks, Castle Green was always an ideal option for us. The Castle is located in Old Pasadena which was close to the Church where we got married, has a rich history and has stunning architecture. The Castle rental included the entire main floor and grounds, so there was plenty of space for all of our guests and provided a natural division between cocktail hour and the dinner/dancing space. The lavish décor and furniture inside is breathtaking and as a result, we did not feel it necessary to decorate that much. I loved the Chiavari chairs and the special use of the bride's room! It has that Old World feel, yet still has this essence of home that my husband and I wanted. The entire venue is a photographer's dream and it truly feels like you are back in time to an era long gone. I have to say the best part about Castle Green is the amazing support team I had! Event Director, Dior Chase was very professional and accommodating - she definitely knows her stuff and was always honest with her advice and suggestions on how to make our wedding reception great. We really appreciated that especially in the "wedding planning world" where many vendors are only focused on upselling you. I worked closest and longest with Ms. Rosalinda Carpenter - a true gem and asset to the Castle Green. Always positive, reassuring, professional and genuine: I always knew that Rosalinda cared about my needs and wanted to make sure that I had the best possible experience on my wedding day. On my wedding day, while I was in the bride's room getting my gown bustled, Rosalinda made sure to congratulate me in person before leaving for the night. She definitely didn't have to do that and I was very touched by her gesture. I would recommend Castle Green for any wedding or special event - the space is lovely and everyone on staff is wonderful. The only three "cons" I have are the men's restroom is kind of a trek to get to downstairs and the women's room is rather small. I chalked it up to the era in which it was designed so it didn't bother me so much as it may bother another person. The #2 "con" was how early the reception has to end. Castle Green does have a residential floor so parties rarely go past eleven. The #3 "con" is the parking situation - you will need to stagger your vendor drop offs because there is no parking on site - you need to find street parking or use the adjacent parking garage. These "cons" didn't impede my experience so much, but they could prove to be a challenge for those considering Castle Green as a potential venue. My advice: COME SEE THE SPACE. It will blow your mind! read more

I got married here back in 2006 and to this day, I receive compliments about how unique and beautiful my wedding was. The only problem? I happened to get married on the hottest day in Pasadena in 96 years. No joke. It was 105 and muggy as all heck. Thank God we paid the extra $600 for AC service. If you are considering a wedding here, I give it my stamp of approval. I do think the prices have gone up considerably. And pay the extra money for valet, cause if you know anything about Old Town, you know the parking is a headache and a half. Also, I had Duxbury's cater, they did a great job. Work with Justin, he's great. Also, its close to Lucky Bladwin's so if you need a drink before you say "I DO", you are in luck... read more

The entire venue is absolutely stunning! If you're looking to have an outdoor ceremony AND reception then I highly, highly recommend this place! However, if you're looking to have an indoor reception (with a large guest count) this place may not be for you. One major drawback for us was that the ballroom is split by a semi-hallway. If you have more than 100 or so guests you'll need to either put tables on the other side of the hallway or have your dance floor over there. It's probably not a big deal for most, it just wouldn't work out for our wedding size/taste and we need an indoor reception location. We're definitely keeping it in mind for our ceremony and pictures because the place is absolutely gorgeous, inside and out! Quick Tip: They allow you to bring in your own alcohol for your events.
