The day of install Kyle showed up called 20 minutes prior to arrival was very professional and also was able to get our existing unit going very quickly (we had had another company out and were told ours was no longer functional and overhead replacement at a very high price). I called Castle improvements for a PIN reset which they did a year and a half ago successfully. The lady I talked to on the phone said she could help me and that it was $68 deal going on so I agreed. The person who provided service arrived at my location and promptly started to spray the hinges on my garage door which I did NOT need NOR did I request. He then proceeded to tell me that my Pin pad was a pain in the ass to work with. I ended up paying them $200 for a $17 pin pad I could have done my self and lubing I did NOT need. I tried to call them to at least get my $68 waived but they never called me back and are now ignoring my calls. Steer clear and don't get bamboozled by this business. read more

I was extremely disappointed in the workmanship provided by Castle Door. I went to Home Depot to purchase my electric garage door opener and they use Castle Door as their installers. The install was completely unacceptable. Loose wires literally draped over my car when the job was "completed". When I questioned the installer, he said that they only provide installation and are not electricians. He used my extension cord and even told me at the completion of the job it might be a good idea to unplug it since it was on an extension cord. My son who is not an electrician installed 2 lights in my garage, but draped whatever excess cords over the rafters so it wouldn't hang over our cars. My handyman who does some electrical work said that the way they were "installed" could be a safety hazard as starting my car under the wire could possibly cause electrocution. read more

Wrong size garage door was ordered. They blamed me for them ordering the wrong size door. They later came back and installed the correct size after a lot of hassle. They said they would be back to take the water proofing and install the decorative hardware, but never did. I had to order and install the hardware myself. read more

Great experience with Castle Garage Doors starting with my initial call scheduling with Tiffany and finishing with Kyle showing up a couple hours later to replace our garage door springs. There are a lot of large corporate owned companies out there that hire techs who don't really know what they are doing and overcharge for questionable service. I've had to replace my garage door springs 4 times in the last 23 years, which is too many times. Why? Well, I don't really know exactly why every time, but last time I got my springs replaced, according to Kyle, they used the wrong sized springs. I had been able to tell for some time that something was wrong with my garage door, but I didn't know what. At some point after the last replaced springs, which wasn't that long ago, I noticed we started to frequently hear a large popping screech sound every other time we opened the door. The wrong spring size explains this symptom. Anyway, I'm super tired of hiring people who don't have the experience or expertise to do the job correctly. It shouldn't be that hard to find that, but there are companies out there with totally unreliable techs, predatory pricing, and somehow still have decent reviews. This time I searched for a quality family owned and operated locally run company and found Castle. I will be saving their number in my phone! Huge thanks to Tiffany and Kyle! One last thing to mention--I called two companies--Castle was almost half the price--and they gave me exact pricing over the phone. Kyle said the companies which don't give pricing over the phone sometimes use this tactic to decide their pricing based on what they think you can afford, i.e., value of your house and car, etc. There are some seriously predatory service companies in operation. Highly professional and thorough technician -- my garage door now opens and closes nicely!!

The quality of work is terrible and customer service is arrogant. Bad combination. I should have avoided this company at all costs. (I did not choose them, Home Depot "attached them" to the sale of the garage door as the installation company. I paid almost 2K for a small (1 car) garage door replacement. The wait was 7 weeks, finally a 2 people crew came out, and did "it" in an hour or so. They didn't speak English so I had to figure out what works how. It stopped working after 3 days. I called them, they were very rude, basically spoke to me like I was an idiot and I didn't know how to use it. They told me they won't fix it, or if I want them to come out, they will charge me $80. I insisted that someone comes out at no charge. Finally someone did show up who spoke English and fixed it. He said it wasn't programmed as intended, he had to reprogram it. He confirmed that I was right, it wasn't working. It stopped working again after 3 weeks. It turns out, there are missing screws where the door is connected, it started falling apart. I didn't bother calling them and arguing, I bought the screws and bolts and fixed it myself. I have not seen such a botched job in a long while. Regarding Adam C.s response: I am not posting bad reviews, I am posting fair reviews. You are wrong in all your points, and again the door is falling apart because some bolts were missed. Very poor quality of work. 1. the motor was purchased at an unknown place - Wrong. Same place: Home Depot. Castle told me to go back and buy the motor at the same place. 2. Usually customers are grateful for the help not upset we try to help them - but you were not helping. You refused to send someone out. 3. We went out to do the service call and no one was there - 4 people were there at the time. If no one was there, the technician couldn't get in. 4. The motor did unprogram itself - the technician told me the programming wasn't completed by the previous crew. I did not want to go back to Home Depot to ask them why they told me to use Castle but now I will. read more

BEWARE!! We were referred to Castle garage doors by default cause we purchased our garage door through home depot, Biggest mistake ever! They built this massive frame, using 4 pieces of thin wood versus 1. The frame in the center is now buckling and it's only been a year. This home is located in a townhome community with strict HOA rules, Castle garage door built a frame that didn't match the other homes in our community, so we can't get this frame painted until it's corrected. In addition to this botched job, the door they recommended us to order is short, So I will have to buy larger panels to remove that hideous frame! What a waste of money! On a side note, I've contact Castle garage doors and they will not correct their work and make this right. They are saying the buckling is because the frame wasn't painted! Used Castle for the first time for an emergency situation after we knocked the garage door off it's track, bending some parts in the process. They were actually referred by a competitor who was fully booked. The employee, Juan, was prompt and let me know he was on the way to our home. He was polite but initially thought he didn't have the required part for the fix. However, he demonstrated that he is a can-do worker who found a way to get the job done, saving me from losing a night's sleep if the door stayed open. The fee was very reasonable, especially for an emergency call, and they offered to apply the fee to a new door if we decided to go in the direction, which seems likely. When the service was over I was charged $85 each plus $125 service charge. And $85 for each remote. I paid the technician even though we called to dispute the charge. Buyer Beware: they lose money on Home Depot install jobs @$148.00. They will up sell you on a variety of unneeded services. most notably torsion springs. I was told my springs were old and failing. previous owner confirmed they were 1 year old. several garage door folks quoting a new job told me they were the wrong springs. I was told garage door needed replacement due to a small dent causing binding. another company replaced a hinge for free and solved the problem. I bought wall mounted door openers from Home Depot with install services. they assigned to castle again. I decided to play ball once again provided I do not get the same installer. I told them I would like to quote a high lift configuration (door as close to ceiling as possible). the scheduler insisted on charging a service charge. this is after I aired my grievances from previous install. Home Depot - you have selected an average install service and given them a monopoly. they are using that monopoly to abuse YOUR customers and take advantage. they are tarnishing your hood name. I will take this up with Home Depot, The BBB and likely small claims court. read more

The tech support guy said I needed a new motor. Bought a garage door opener through Home Depot. 16 days later, Castle comes to install it. An hour later, the installer tells me that he's "done" but that there is no power. I assured him that there was power before he started. He just stood there telling me he had to go to his next job. I told him he couldn't leave before finishing the installation. He called his manager (whom he wouldn't let me talk to or get his number) and then told me they couldn't do anything. Seriously? How am I supposed to know if the opener works? He never even tried to troubleshoot by asking where the main panel was. He did not take accountability or responsibility for what he did. He said that all he did was unplug the old opener, to which I replied "i doubt that makes the power trip" and specially since I unplugged the cord of the previous one at least 10 times without issues. After a lot of back and forth with that stoned look on his face he wished me. . a "good day" and left. Had to find an electrician quickly. He said it's unacceptable that he didn't go to the main panel and check to see if their was a problem. Not sure what the installer do to trip it up, but the electrician had to read the manuals and complete the installation. Home Depot will be footing the bill. They should really find someone else, because Castle is just a heartless company. read more

The man who came out to install, since the previous terrible "installer" couldn't, installed the opener blocking our attic door/stairs!! In addition, he only installed the arm to the garage door with ONE SCREW! You can imagine how well it works. I contacted the company about this issue and they said they cannot do anything!!! WHAT?! You messed up and you can't fix it? You can come wreck someone's house and walk away? Thankfully my husband installed the three other screws, not that he should've had to, but we literally cannot access any of our things in our attic. This is unbelievable. RUN from this company! Kyle was his name. Installing garage door openers is his game. He arrived on time. A striking, masculine figure, he wore a facemask that covered his sparkling smile, I imagined. He worked quickly and meticulously, as he had done this hundreds of times before. I watched his shapely legs and backside as he carefully straddled his stepladder. It was a sight to behold. He completed the job is less than an hour. I plan on having Kyle install another garage door opener soon. But I don't have another garage. I think I will build one. We had Castle install a custom garage door on our house about 5 years ago. I had no reason to suspect that they didn't do a reasonable job. About a year ago however, we started to have trouble with the door. It would reopen after hitting the floor. I was in a hurry and getting ready to leave town, so I disconnected the door from the opener. This is when I first realized something was wrong. The door was extremely heavy to manually lower, and later raise. I called another door company to come out and look at the door and they pointed out a number of problems with the install. The first, and major problem was that they installed the wrong spring. Whether they were supplied the wrong spring from Cloypay, who built the door, or merely installed the wrong spring, I don't know. The spring they installed however was way too weak for the weight of the door. It would have been completely impossible for my wife to open the door in a power outage/emergency. Another issue they pointed out was that the wires were all spliced. Castle did not run a single wire between any two points. Everything was spliced and merely wound together, not even wire nuts were used. Far more professional would have been to run a single wire between things like wall mounted opener and the motor. The distance was not very far. There were mismatched hinges on the door. While they worked, it is an indication of the lack of quality workmanship. The original problem was a sensor problem. The sensors that were used were an older model sensor, that may have been the last of the years Clopay used them on the doors, or they were just old ones that Castle's installer had available. It' possible Castle hired out the work. I have no way of knowing. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on the sensors, but I did pay for new ones. All in all, the workmanship was shoddy. I have now paid almost $900 dollars to fix the problems Castle left me with. I would not recommend them for an install. read more
