My boyfriend and I as well as our two friends decided to go to the anchor pub for dinner. I have…read morenever been to a restaurant with such TERRIBLE service. As soon as we got to the restaurant the waiters came off as rude. Once we ordered food, we waited about 1 and a half hours for it to come, whilst watching groups who came in well after us sit down order, get their food, pay and leave. Once we got our food, the waitress asked if we needed anything else, we asked for two waters... which we did not get, until we had to ask again, and the waitress was extremely rude about it when she did finally bring them. When it came time to pay we waited roughly 30-45 minutes for our bill. In this time we had asked multiple times for the bill and were told "Amy will take care of it". It got to the point where we were so annoyed for having to wait so long that we all had to get up and step outside for a smoke which finally got Amy's attention because she thought we were trying to dine and dash.... My boyfriend, me and our friends have all decided that we will never be returning to this pub.

I like the idea of supporting the hometown spot but I've been shopping elsewhere a lot lately. Most recent visit: service was slow - we were sitting for 25 minutes before anyone even took our drink order... Then we watched the waitress pour our drinks and first use her fingers to scoop the head off the beer and then leave the beers on the other side of the bar until they were "piss warm"; when we sent them back she got really rude and we were honestly scared she was going to spit in our food that still hadn't been ordered. Then the food came - my date ordered the pork chop special and got pulled pork (seriously) I ordered my usual pub club with cheese and sweet potato fries and was given a cold sandwich with no cheese, stale bread, very little chicken and under cooked sweet potato fries. This is the same thing I've been ordering for 10+ years here and it has gone from "trusty and spot-on" to in consistent to "ya this is probably gonna be off" At the end of the night - we never got new drinks, the food was off, we were still billed for drinks that we didn't get, and we stopped at Tim Hortons of all places for a sandwich on the way out.

The beer flight was excellent as was the margarita. The only downside to this restaurant is the wine menu. We were both having chicken and seafood, but defaulted to the only wine on the menu that got a decent rating from Vivino, and it was a red. Meh. We're neither of us stuck on if it's a fish or poultry dish you must have white and our bottle of red was a good wine so we enjoyed it. We started with the falafels with hummus and the Caesar salad. Both were very good. I opted for the chicken schnitzel and he went for the lake trout. The chicken schnitzel with spinach spaetzle was very good indeed. I ended up requesting some lemon to squeeze on the schnitzel because I found the herb butter was a tad too much like the spaetzle. Not a criticism per se, I just felt that the lemon juice added a bit of extra zest that I personally liked. The trout was also very good, except for the tomato sauce base - he felt that did not add to the dish. Nothing wrong with the sauce, just not necessary. Mudtown Station was recommended by friends who'd been here a few years ago. I know it's undergone some changes since then, but I thought the recent poor reviews were a shame. They almost put me off. But truly, this restaurant is trying hard to get back to its former glory and I'd say they're now there. The menu is creative and out of the ordinary, the atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant and the food is very good - and this review is coming from a foodie who's eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants and at least 4 that were in the list of top 100 in the world, including number one. Mudtown Station deserves a visit. I'd give it a 4.5 if that was an option.

When we arrived at 6:00 p.m., the restaurant wasn't very busy. We ordered the Curry Chicken Flatbread, which was an interesting combination and surprisingly tasty. The signature burger was underwhelming and quite small. The trout was tender and flavourful. The service was just okay. Some dishes come with a choice of side, but we weren't told that certain options carried an extra charge until we received the bill. The server even mentioned that she had accidentally undercharged us, so we ended up paying more than we expected. The pricing wasn't clearly explained, which could easily catch travellers off guard.

I was craving a schnitzel and they delivered. Friendly service from the staff there as they were just opening at noon that Friday and we were asked kindly to wait a bit before they opened. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal while seated at the corner table with windows looking out two different directions over the golf course. That itself, was a fantastic feature of dining her. Parking was plentiful, and the drive was fun going under the little arched train bridge. Worth seeking out in the area.

Is the atmosphere modern and high end....no... were we comfortable and had a great view... absolutely... A very cool menu cover opens up to a diverse selection of options to satisfy the whole family with some Eastern/central European favourites that caught my attention....My wife and son went with the seared salmon where I opted for the classic schnitzel....We were all completely satisfied with our meals from the salmon which was buttery, cooked to perfection (that a lot of places screw up) to my extra crispy full of flavour schnitzel on a bed of crispy yet soft spätzle...washed down with a cold Czech Pilsner and a classic gin martini... I was in a very happy place!! But that didn't stop my son from ordering the decadent River fritter... or I think we accidentally called it the River tail... no idea why... but it was delicious!! Looking forward to exploring the menu further on our next visit to Godrich!! Thank you!! Zeke
