Yikes! Honestly had i known this was going to be date night dinner I would've put my foot down. It was a disaster from the moment we walked in. First of all there's no server's you order up at the bar with the bartender weird but OK no big deal. I told my boyfriend what I wanted he walked up to the bar and I got lost from there. I couldn't figure out why it was taking so long to order drinks and food before I know it another customer came up to me and explained that my boyfriend was charged a service fee on his debit card legally you can't on a debit card but you can on a credit card I get that part also and it took him forever to dispute it with whom i clearly understood wasn't a manager or owner but a helper? 20 minutes later the food comes out standard bar breaded mushrooms they weren't bad however they could've been cooked a little longer they came with ranch dressing and marinara sauce. We decided to split what we thought was a huge BLT "Bible" the bacon was bacon bits from a jar on a giant roll with a pesto sauce this was just unacceptable to put on any menu Now the helper who my boyfriend disputed the service charge with rudely dropped our food off at the table to the employees are just as bad as the food. It's a dive bar, not sure why so many reviewers were expecting high end food and top notch service. Order all food and drinks from the bar. Staff is friendly and the regulars will chat you up. Several attractive ladies hanging out on a Wednesday evening. They have bingo and trivia nights, they also sell lotto tickets. Great place to catch a game or just grab a few drinks. Prices are reasonable, a big salad, boneless wings, potato skins, and three drinks for $40. My only complaint was the door being open the whole time, so it's pretty warm inside. read more

After a quick search for nearby food, we wandered into Castaways. The vibe was dive bar and it took a few minutes to even see a staff person to help us. After checking our ID's (which slightly confused us since we never ordered any alcohol) and dealing with a overly drunk customer, we got our order in for a couple pizzas, cheesy bread, and macaroni bites. And waters which he said he'd give two pitchers for. A few of us went to the restrooms, worried what to expect but were pleased with very clean bathrooms! The entire place seems clean, with some dive bar clutter but with clean tables, floors, chairs, menus, etc. We were given plastic cups for our requested water, they were very dirty and seemed melted - appearing as though they had been in a dishwasher. We threw them out and asked for new ones, and the bar tender was happy to replace them. Our water pitchers were not entirely clean either (although we chose to ignore since service wasn't the greatest). After seeing the "no waitress" sign, we realized it was one bar tended and one cook working. All orders came through the bar which spots filled quickly after arriving. We took a seat across the bar, outside in a high top. While waiting, we noticed a dead fly in our parmesan shaker. We also had the bar tender come up 20 minutes after ordering to tell us they were out of macaroni bites but he didn't know all the available apps....we finally got it figured out and were eager for a tasty lunch! It took over 30 minutes for our order to start coming out but I will say it was WORTH THE WAIT! Our table was sooo curious how it's be and we all agreed it was one of the best pizzas we have ever had - wow! Cheesy, plenty of toppings, the crust was so fresh and tasty, all of the things! Even the potato skins were the best we had, paired with delicious homemade ranch! My fiancé and I will crave this often from Minnesota and encourage others to try it out - be sure to have time to wait as it's a smaller place with less staff but so worth it and yummy! If it wasn't for the quality of the food, cleanliness, and kindness of the staff (when they weren't busy helping others), I would have rated this place a 2 but they truly have delicious food and kind staff (a man with a Boston accent, he told us where it's from and a lady cook). So, this is our Second time at this great establishment. Erin was the bartender the SECOND time we were here. I am from the valley and frequented Gillian's for years and we stumbled along this gem and were excited to enjoy some good music and relaxation tonight for our second time around. It was not enjoyable! We work so much and never get to go out and rarely go to bars. We were so happy to come here and enjoy good people. So sad and disappointing how they treated us. First off, I asked Erin, whom works at Gillian's, he advised and when asked what was good here tonight, his response was 'I'm just hanging out, we watched the game' so on and so on. I was asking what the specials or good fun was at the establishment was this evening as any 'Real Bartender' would know. I ordered a Tito's and we order a small pitcher of beer. I asked for a lemon, he game me a lime, do not care at all about that. We inquired again, what are the specials? Reverse happy hour and the all day specials. He did not know anything. Castaways is a shithole - stay away I should have known when we pulled in it wasn't the right place to be, crack dealer in parking lot selling to patrons. Was too hungry to go elsewhere after drive from Las Vegas and an early flight the next day, Ordered a beer, breaded mushrooms, Hot dog and the Castey sandwich, after an hour wait and second beer I asked about our food, bartender said it was coming. Another beer and three more goups of people got served after we arrived and still no food, the people that arrived 1 hour after us got their pizza / nachos. After waiting 2 hour and 3 beers later I told the bartender to cash me out for the beer and we are going elsewhere to eat, The cook is a lazy SOB that only wants to make pizza and nachos. When he poked his head out of the kitchen I let him know it too. Stay away from Castaways, from my experience they only cater to locals and crackheads. read more

This is a fun little dive bar to go to! My friends and I came in for beer and pizza. Everyone was really friendly and the staff was great. They allow dogs which is a huge benefit for my Nala. The bar has a great U-shaped bar, interior table seating, outdoor seating and televisions galore. The place, including the restroom, was clean and organized. The bartender was a bit scattered, but in a good way. He served my beer promptly and took good care of me throughout my stay. The food was good. By the time I got to my hotel and ate, it would not be fair to judge the food too harshly. If you are in town on business and staying by the airport, I certainly recommend Castaways. read more

Let me start by saying: Yes, Castaways is a total hole-in-the-wall dive bar. It's small, it's not fancy, and it is -the bomb-. I didn't know about Castaway's until my kickball team started using it as its league bar on Tuesday nights. The first time I ate there, I was super hesitant, not being a huge fan of bar food... but in all honesty, this is my FAVORITE place to grab a sandwich now! Seriously, I bet I've been to this place 20-30 times, and there is nothing better than the W sandwich. I've had the pizzas too, which are good... I saw someone else order some pretty amazing looking pasta once - but nothing can turn me away from that sandwich!!! It is SO good (and probably enough for two people!) The drinks are cheap, and the food is good. Go with friends, and hope you're there on a night when they have more than one bartender. The guy that's usually there on Tuesdays does a great job of working his butt off to get to everyone, but the bottom line is that they need another bartender there on league nights. The time it takes to get a drink has become such a point of contention, they've actually considered changing bars over it... Management should have a talk with her about how to treat potential customers & that faded hair color. Seriously, a hair treatment would help her. I moved in down the street from this place and I have to admit, I was a little nervous it was going to be too divey, but boy was I surprised. It has a cute vibe inside and the employees have always been so nice and welcoming. We own dogs and constantly foster as well and they've been so accepting of dogs at this place. This is a great place to go to if you want to have a good night, but not spend a ton of Mo eh. All their prices are very reasonable! The women waitresses are nasty and Hate black women. I walked in with a male friend who is also Black soon as I walked in the small skinny female waitress turned her back. I'm use to bars having a Pitcher for $3 so when I saw Pint for $3 of house blend I was trying to decide if it was in a pitcher.
