Caspian Kabob is run by the same folks who had the food truck a few years back - and according to the lore, they've only gotten better, which is impressive since the food is so tasty. These guys are super conveniently located, and the food was superb. We had the lamb kabob with saffron rice, and let me tell you - I have an uncle who makes saffron rice better than anyone I've tasted, and this place comes in a close 2nd. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the price and the atmosphere. It's a bit pricey for a single meal, though you do get a fairly substantial amount of food. The atmosphere is a bit cold, but I also think it may be part of moving into their new space still. Overall, great spot to visit for some delicious kabob! read more

Caspian Kabob started as a food cart in Mississippi Ave in Portland. Today they are a full-service restaurant in the newly developed West End District off Murray Blvd in Beaverton. We stopped for lunch with the goal of trying every type of kabob they offer... we tried Kubideh (seasoned ground beef and lamb), Jujeh (chicken breast) and Barg (filet mignon). All kabobs were served with basmati rice topped with saffron. The rice was cooked to perfection without being sticky. The kubideh kabob was just as I remembered from the food cart days... moist and full of flavor... melts in your mouth. The jujeh kabob was tender and juicy with a hint of saffron and lemon. The Barg kabob was flavorful and tender. As much as it was fun to stop at the food carts for kabob, I think it's even nicer to be able to sit and enjoy the meal in a restaurant setting... rain or shine! Incredible Persian restaurant. Been to dozens of Mediterranean style restaurants and this is the best one. Vaziri kebab is my go to, comes with chicken and koobedeh kebabs. Rice portions are huge and delicious, easily can share with two people who have left overs the next day. Staff is also amazing can't recommend enough. read more

I tried chicken kabob platter and one of their specials, the hen platter? Both tasted amazing, the chicken kabob was melt in the mouth good. The rice tasted delicious too. Wow! What a fantastic meal at Caspian Kabob. I enjoyed a kubideh kabob for what must be the most reasonable price in the Portland area ($15) which came with yogurt sauce, a mix of white and saffron rice, and a grilled tomato. The meat was plentiful along with the rice (sadly I don't care for tomato), and really hit the spot for a Saturday lunch. My friend and I stayed there for so long that the chef offered us some complimentary Persian tea and sugar cubes, which really hit the spot and was extremely generous of them. The restaurant itself is located in a new Beaverton apartment/retail area with ample parking. Overall, I look forward to returning and trying their other dishes. Oh Yes! No doubt! This is "The Place" for Mediterranean and it's in Beaverton! We ate at the restaurant the first time. In a new apartment complex that has street shops. "With Parking" Polite family who make you feel at home. The place is super clean and bright. I have had a lot of felafel, gyro all over the place. The seasoning of the meat...I don't know what they do but it's amazing! tender, seasoned, and cooked to literary perfection. The felafel, perfectly crisp, not greasy, and the flavor. After my second try, I'm bumping up to that coveted 5-Star. It can't get much better, and I've been exposed to Persian culture for many years. Expanding the menu would be welcomed (sour cherry saffron rice anyone), but I get that might not be doable in a cart. Caspian serves food where I relished every bite. --------- Finally, REAL Persian food. Apparently, Caspian is the only game in town. Like others, I'm a fan of both Nicholas' and Ya Hala, but they are pan-Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, not Persian. The hallmark of Persian food is the rice and it's very good here. If you're thinking rice is rice: nope. It's quite a process to make and almost always includes expensive saffron and yogurt-based dip on the side. What would take it up a huge notch (but is very labor intensive) is adding bread or potatoes during the cooking process. I don't expect that to happen for efficiency reasons. The Koobideh (lamb & beef) was succulent, very tender and juicy. It wasn't served kabob style, but I prefer it that way. And the familiar grilled tomato was present. Most carts have passed the $10 barrier for entrees so the portion is fair here. Owner is very nice. I hope he adds specials like th pomegranate chicken or Tahdig. read more

Such great service. We were the last to come in because our original dinner plans fell through and I'm so glad it did because the food was delicious and we had a great experience! The workers were so kind and despite it being close to closing time, didn't rush us even though we were trying to hurry up eating before they closed. Please trust me when I say that this restaurant is incredible. The meat is tender, the saffron rice is flavorful, the baba ganush is delicious. My partner and I were unable to finish our order because helpings were so generous: mezza platter, kubideh kabob plate, baklava, Persian tea, and doogh yogurt drink. The service was great: the owner (I think?) took our order, and both he and the lady who served our food were wonderfully kind. The interior is beautiful and clean. Incredibly fresh food and a great choice for an afternoon pick me up! I settled on the Combo Kabob in a pita. The lamb and beef meat was amazing! It was hot and juicy and cooked to perfectly. Another review mentioned they tasted like mini burgers and I agree 100%. The chicken was tender and decent. All of the other ingredients including the roasted tomatoes, lettuce, yogurt, and cucumber pieces were super fresh and that really makes the meal stand out when you know it was made just for you and didn't have its meat or veggies just sitting out. I was a little let down in by the lack of seasoning/spice as well as the amount of meat. The lamb and beef meat was phenomenal but I couldn't taste any discernible seasoning to it. The chicken's seasoning was subtle and forgettable and when combined with the yogurt which also tasted a bit bland, it left my taste buds sad. Even though you get the same amount of meat in the pita as you would over rice or a salad, I felt like more than half the pita was just pita and lettuce and once I passed the halfway mark, all meats came together more closely where I was finally able to get some meat in each bite. To compare, I Heart Gyros in Vancouver WA loads their chicken gyros with at least twice as much meat as this place and literally every bite will have chicken in it. If you're looking for food that's as fresh as can be to tide you over for a few hours, this place is worth checking out. Make sure to get the lamb and beef as that was the highlight! I'm glad I stopped here but I probably wouldn't come back again just because I've had chicken gyros elsewhere that provide more chicken meat with a stronger seasoning/taste. read more

First time at Caspian after seeing this spot on Yelp a few times. Looks like it was a long time food truck spot (7 years after talking to the owner), and they opened up in the plaza of a brand new apartment complex (West End) for two months. We came in on a Sunday afternoon after some exercise outdoor, owner greeted us with a warm smile, we picked a table by the window as the place was empty at 3pm. Food came out fairly quick, nice and hot. The kubideh kabab is one of the best kebob I've had, the flavor and juiciness of the meat was a perfect match with the saffron rice. The chicken kebab is also flavorful, an easy 9/10 but wasn't as uniquely tasting as the kubideh. Gyro was nicely paired with lettuce and tomatoes, also a solid dish. Owner offered us a cup of tea to try out, the flavor is subtle, and adding a sugar cube seems to bring out the flavor a bit more, well balanced tea in general. This was a very enjoyable visit, the place is clean, great food, and a friendly owner. We will be back! read more

First time trying this place the other day and found out that their brick and mortar store just opened recently. I got the Kubideh Kabob Platter ($15) with an additional side of Veggie Skewer ($6) while my husband got the Vazirie Kabob Platter ($22). Service was pretty fast. We think the kubideh was very juicy, however, the real standout for us were the chicken kabob included in the vazirie platter. They were perfectly grilled. We like how the veggie skewer tasted fresh too. The meals didn't come with any sauces so I had to ask the counter for some as we like our meals spicy. The owner gave us a sample of their spicy green sauce which he says they haven't perfected yet but it tasted good and refreshing with a little spicy kick. It paired well with the meats. Just wondering why the vazirie platter was a lot pricier at $22 than both the kubideh and jujeh ($15-$16) platters? I mean the other platters have two skewers of the same thing per plate either beef or chicken. How come this one is priced $6 more when it has two different (kubideh and jujeh) skewers in one plate? If we order the kubideh platter and jujeh platter next time, and exchange one skewer, then I guess it'll be a lot cheaper? I just don't get the pricing.
