Located about two miles from I-64 along the main road (Hanover), it is easy to find. There are only…read morea couple spaces in the street in front, but we parked in the paved church parking lot next door. This must be normal as several other customers parked here. There is a sign on the side of the building that indicated if you need assistance they would bring your selection out to you, which would be a sign of excellent customer service. The short walk from the parking lot along the paved sidewalk leads to a set of double doors and narrow steps into the retail area. This could certainly be an issue for those with limited mobility. Once you are into the retail area, you are greeted by the friendly staff and several display cases of the day's selection. The staff apologized for the limited selection, but I honestly found many great items. I am intrigued as to just how much more extensive their selection would be when they first open. They have the typical danishes, (cherry, apple, cheese, OMG THEY HAVE A GERMAN CHOCOLATE DANISH!!!!). There was a wide selection of donuts and other assorted pastries, and several items which brought back fond memories. We walked out with a couple boxes of treasure for a very reasonable price. We sampled many as we travelled and found each one tasty and wonderful. Berkemann's is a must stop location any time we are travelling through the area.

They have really good pastries, chiffon cakes (my favorites are the chocolate and lemon). Sweet…read moreShirley's, I think that's the name of those triangle donuts with cream cheese fillings. Their mini pies are great also, and they sell pizza dough. Only thing I don't like is they are closed on Sundays and Mondays,

$187 for a family of four to have a breakfast on par with the Holiday Inn Express…read more So disappointing. We were excited to get a reservation for this breakfast experience. Unfortunately it was awful. We were sat on the enclosed porch. We had Christmas music blaring so loud that you had to shout. (Someone later unplugged the speaker.) The temp on the porch reached 79, which was quite uncomfortable. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. And, boy was it awful. Frozen pancakes, frozen biscuits, ok gravy, ok casserole and really good sausage links. No serving utensils for anything - had to use my fork to get gravy. No butter. I will say, the place is decorated really well. Top marks for that. As far as food service - this place has no idea what they're doing. All in all - you'd be better off getting a room at the Hampton Inn. It would be cheaper and the breakfast is better. Guess you have to determine how much you're willing to pay for a photo of your kids with the Grinch. (Which we didn't get because we were so hot and uncomfortable.)

This is the ULTIMATE Christmas bar, and is well worth the drive to New Baden, IL. Not only are…read moretheir cocktails delicious and high quality, but the venue is decked from head to toe. You can tell the owners put a lot of love, care and Christmas cheer into making this place special and memorable. The entrance even has a photo station so you can get adorable group photos easily. This is one of the few Christmas bars that also offers family-friendly brunch in the mornings. I heard the Grinch brunch is amazingly silly and fun for Grinch lovers. Highly recommend requesting Ali as your server as she is an absolute delight and such a happy Elf! Be sure to try the Dubai Chocolate or Peppermint Patty drinks.
