    2 Stars - Scheels is great overall, but not for hockey…read more Scheels is a great store for a lot of sporting goods, but if you're looking for hockey equipment, I would honestly recommend going somewhere else. My son recently started getting into hockey, and we went there hoping to get some help with skates and gear. Unfortunately, it was clear pretty quickly that the hockey department just doesn't have staff with much hockey knowledge. Whether it was skates, sticks, or general equipment questions, there really wasn't anyone who seemed confident or experienced enough to help. The most frustrating experience was when we purchased skates and were told they had been sharpened by the Scheels staff. After my son had a very negative experience on the ice, we took the skates to a rink, and the staff there confirmed the blades had not actually been sharpened. That kind of thing makes a big difference, especially when someone is just starting the sport. If you're serious about hockey equipment, save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that specializes in it. Prices are very competitive elsewhere, and the staff actually care and know what they're doing. Pure Hockey on 72nd is absolutely worth the trip. Scheels does a lot of things well, but hockey just doesn't seem to be one of them.

The team does a great job greeting you and making you feel welcome. Whether I'm in the shoe, golf, or clothing sections, there's always someone available and ready to help. Even as we head into the busy holiday season with more shoppers than usual, the clothing displays remain in great shape, making it easy to find my size. Just wanted to give a shoutout as this is one of the many reasons I keep coming back to shop here. Keep up the great work!

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience when I back less than 24 hours later to return items. I was met by a very aggressive woman with glasses and a beanie. She told me she could not do anything for my boots return because I had worn them for one day, despite telling her they were super tight and hurting my ankles. She refused to call her district manager or customer service or anyone to get another opinion. She told me I needed to call customer service myself if I had an issue. She then tried to correlate my attempted return to the same as someone she dealt with prior that was arrested and in jail and tried to return the shoes with an unknown substance on them?? This woman clearly needs retrained and or removed from this position. She had ZERO empathy for my situation and seemed to be worried about a $225 return then making a customer happy. I know I am going to seriously reconsider future shopping at 5.11 because of her horrendous attitude and ability to be flexible and problem solve. I called customer service after I left the store and they immediately processed a return and refund. Wow, see there is an exception to most situations.

    1. I don't feel like I had a bad experience. I did have a bad experience…read more 2. Accepting the wrong slide back from me is not a reasonable option considering you sent me the wrong slide. 3. Your offers have not been reasonable. 4. I understand exactly what a bait and switch is. When someone discusses an item with you over several days with several emails then sends you an invoice for another slide on the last email with a PAY NOW (and "digital signature") button. You assume the invoice being sent is for the ONLY slide you discussed, and confirmed dimensions and measurements for countless times, but you get another slide. The reason you get this slide is because the retailer doesn't have the other slide and thinks they can send you another slide without you noticing.... 5. That exactly what a bait and switch is. Retailer knows they don't have the item you want but they stick another item in the bag and charge you anyways. You don't look in the bag until you get home and the retailer's excuse is you walked out of the store with it so you're now stuck with it. 6. Contrary to your response below, I did not have "multiple chances" to review a final proposal. It was your last email with a digital agreement. Meanwhile their were MULTIPLE emails confirming sizes and dimensions for a different slide leading up the final Digital invoice for the wrong slide....problematic and questionable business practices which any judge would consider a shady business practice at best. 7. As far as AMEX, unfortunately the issue was being reviewed by offshore employees. We are currently working with senior level executives at AMEX who are reviewing the issue again as the offshore employees did not thoroughly review the notes which clearly demonstrated your BAIT and SWITCH. 9. If AMEX does not agree with us then we will file a small claims case against Practice Sports in Los Angeles. 10. Nothing I have stated above is libelous or accusatory. These are the facts and business practices of Practice Sports which new potential customers should be aware of. I am happy to share the facts with the general public. 11. I use Yelp to make others aware of unprofessional businesses. When a business provides good service I reward them with a tip. Your libelous claims that I am looking for a free item are inaccurate and will definitely put you in further legal jeopardy. Govern yourself accordingly.
