We have had the worst service from this company. They took almost 2 weeks to bring us trash cans but they cashed our payment and applied it to our account immediately. Then over the last year they have missed our recycle numerous times. Giving us every other week as the only option even though numerous trash companies locally do it weekly. Now I've had enough after 3 times now they just didn't pick up our trash. This last time they promised to pick us up the next day for 4 days in a row until finally just telling us they will come the next scheduled week day. We live a stones throw from Suzie Wilson road in essex. They have probably passed our house 50 times with different trucks. Are we just supposed to start piling it up outside on the ground? Isn't there some law for trash removal in VT to help against these losers? Don't be fooled by their cheap pricing. Not worth your time. read more

Our entire neighborhood is cutting ties with this company. While we do live on a dirt road with a hill, that once in a while could be challenging for the truck, we have been told countless times when the road is dry & in great condition that they cannot serve us because of the weather. Some service agents over the phone have been understanding, but others have argued with us. Their own drivers photo evidence doesn't match our street. We've gone weeks without service for no reason. If you're short handed say that and be honest. They tell us that they will send out the truck the next day, when they full well know they will not. They tell us they will refund us for the weeks we didn't get service or that they will take the overflow the next week and they don't do either. Leaving trash on the roadside attracts animals and creates an unsafe environment for them. Entirely unreliable, dishonest & rude. Very poor communication and leadership within the company. read more

I have had them as a trash/recycling collector for 6 months. they have picked up my recycling TWICE!!! i call every other week when it would get left after I put it exactly where it should be. I know trash pickup isn't brain surgery but there are 5 complaints in the system. cancelling immediately. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I have only had Casella for just over a month and I had to call them 6 times within a week to pick up our recycling. I was on a weekly for trash and bi weekly for recycling but they only picked recycling up once in the entire month!! I just moved in so I have plenty of recycling. Each time I called they promised me by the end of the day that I called... We left our recycling at the end of the drive way for days and everytime I called another person would tell me by the end of the day. During my last call they were extremely rude on the phone, trying to convince me to not cancel, promising once again to fix it and trying to blame ME for it not being picked up! We did everything right, it doesn't take a genius to put bins at the end of the driveway. They are even trying to charge me for the entire month, even though, they only picked up once. I have voicemails too stating all the pick up times and "notes" they sent to drivers to "make sure it gets done" and yet the recycling still sits at the end of my driveway. No wonder why all reviews are 1 star for this company. read more

We moved a few miles around the corner and into an area where Casella is our only pickup option. They delivered the cans about a week late, then delivered the wrong size cans, then delivered correct size cans with non working lids and then did not pick up our trash as scheduled. ALL IN ONE MONTH. They are very apologetic on the phone but that is just a distraction from making it right. I called and they wouldn't go out of their way to come pick up their mistake or credit our account. After the second attempt of calling them they finally said they would come pick it up that day. They did not, but someone came with a pickup truck the next morning at 6:30am and took most of it (I'm glad we left the bins out because there was no communication). I then say one of their garbage trucks picking up trash a few miles around the corner later that morning. They could have just said they would pick up next day and we would have been happy. They are unbelievable!!! If have other options, go with literally anyone else. read more

Horrid. Perfectly horrid. For the THIRD time in 9 months they failed to picked up recyclables on my road. They are supposed to come every two weeks. If I happen to be out of town on one week that means I have an entire month's worth, plus, of recyclables sitting in my garage where there is no space!!!! They obviously don't honor their contract!!! They bought out my contract from another trash hauler and have failed to pick up recycling on the scheduled day 3 times in a row.

We've placed an order for their "twice a month" pickup during the 2nd week of October, but only got the "official trashcan" they'll pickup delivered on November 7. We only got one pickup on November 21, but got charged for the full month (2 pickups). Then, on December 5, their driver decided he couldn't get up the private drive any longer, which started a full week of us calling for trash pickup and getting empty promises of "tomorrow" and "we're working on a solution". Finally, we tried to cut back our service to once a month, and yet, apparently they cannot find ONE DAY IN THE MONTH when they can come and pick up our trash. After that, we naturally decided to cancel the service, as they won't pick up our trash anyway. At that point, they offered their only "solution", which was basically for us to deliver the trash to them (on the town managed road) and still pay for the service. Astounding ! Finally, now they are making it very difficult to get some of our money back for the month of November, saying they only decided note to come in December, and it'll take weeks for before they can cut a check. Shame on them ! They should be refunding the whole month for all our trouble. They do not understand that they run a business in VERMONT ! We have 6 month of winter, every year, this one is by no means a bad winter (yet), and that should not stop them from performing the service we pay for. Winter conditions and the "state" of our private dirt drive, which is plowed and well maintained, has NEVER STOPPED us (with regular cars), or other companies truck from delivering their services, such as heating oil (Cota & Cota) or mail service (UPS, FedEx, and USPS). These companies just know that they run a business in VT, train their drivers, and plan their vehicles accordingly (I assume they have snow tires, etc...). They do not use the winter conditions as an excuse not to deliver. Maybe Cassella should ask them (and themselves) how they do it, and why they cannot. This is very disappointing... instead of making excuses ("the road is impracticable for our trucks"), they should actually find good solution, update their fleet, have smaller, lighter trucks for more remote/rural locations, and instead of taking weeks for a partial refund, they should offer full refund in compensation for our trouble. I sincerely hope they treat their other, easily accessible and more conveniently located customers, better. read more

They've been contracted and service our 18 unit cul-de-sac for 9 years. Good, clean service in all weather.

We have used Casella for residential waste management services for a few years. More than a few times, they have dropped trash in the road during a pick up and not gotten out of the truck to retrieve it. Also, instead of looping around my easily navigable neighborhood, they pick up my refuse and back up more than 50 feet behind them to the intersection to continue their route! This is irresponsible, unsafe, and unnecessary. I do not recommend Casella. read more
