I popped into Case Coffee Roasters after a whitewater rafting trip and fell for its cozy, hipster vibes. Their coffee is amazing: rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly. It's a bit tucked away and easy to miss if you're wandering around, and peak hours can get busy. It's a memorable find.

Aydin & Macy rocking Mario and Luigi
    Jerome E.

Walked into Case Coffee in downtown Ashland and thought I'd stumbled into a Nintendo fever dream. Aydin and Macy dressed up as Mario and Luigi, just because. They even had the Mario Bros theme music playing over the house speakers. This is exactly the kind of magic that makes Case Coffee more than just a place to get your caffeine fix. The coffee is reliably good, but it's the people that make this spot one of my favorites. Aydin and Macy go out of their way to create a vibe that's welcoming, fun, and unforgettable. Management, if you're reading this: promote these two. They're going way above and beyond. They're excellent at what they do.

Horchata Latte & Sea Salt Glazed Donut

Service - Friendly and quick Food - Coffee served in a branded glass cup. Donut was delicious, but I may have wanted more sea salt since the coffee was pretty sweet. There's a small area with lids, napkins, and where to drop off cups and dishes if dining in. Ambience - Tables to sit and work, but looks like it can get packed pretty quickly. Lots of plants to give it an open and natural setting. Merchandise - Has a wall that features their coffee beans, coffee supplies, and branded tumblers. Overall a convenient coffee shop where you can go for a caffeine pick up and snack.

    Iced latte and the NYTimes.

Enjoyed a delicious iced latte. Love that there's a NyTimes available to read. VERY nice baristas. Better than and less expensive than Noble Coffee a few blocks away. Best place to get your coffee in Ashland is right here at Case.

Enjoyed a drink off the special menu, the vanilla lavender latte; all the specials listed were 12 ounces. Came here to read, so I waited for a neat table in the back of the room to open up and hung out at the counter for a few, but it became available shortly.

If you're a remote worker, Case is the perfect spot for you! Case sometimes feels like it was built for remote workers! They have ample seating alone the benches and a big "collaboration" table in the center. Under every bench seat there is an outlet. Case has amazing pastries to pair with your coffee. Their donuts are phenomenal. They also have holiday drinks and specials if you want something fun. The wifi is top notch!! You could even take a Zoom meeting here if you had to. They play calming music in the background to help focus as well. Case definitely isn't a social coffee shop as there tends to be a handful of remote workers there every time I come in. It's great for staying focused and getting some good work done!

    Peppermint mocha.

I came here to grab some coffees on the way to my sister's place. And well, the place is nice and cute and clean. All plusses. But then, there was the white chocolate peppermint mocha. I order one per trip and it was a mighty fine sounding drink, but tasted OK. A plus is that it wasn't too sweet, which is hard when chocolate was in the mix. However, there wasn't too much peppermint, in fact, there was so little peppermint that I couldn't taste any. I'd probably go to Noble, since I had such a great time the last time I went there. And my oat-milk latte was on point (very good). But, this isn't a place that I just have to come to.

Case Coffee, I'm in love. If only I didn't live some 350 miles away! We decided to stop by Case while visiting and walking around Ashland on 9/5/2020, and I am so glad we did. The shop itself is a beautiful, open, inviting space with some lovely greenery, including two little coffee trees that were grown from seeds brought back from other countries in 2017 - how cool is that? Very cool, I say. During COVID-19, they've blocked off the large wooden table in the center to allow for more spacing, but indoor seating is still available at the smaller tables next to the walls and windows. There are also a few outdoor wooden benches to sit while enjoying your coffee. The barista was also super friendly and made us feel welcome there. Always appreciate great service! FOOD & DRINK: + Iced Horchata Latte: one of their seasonal drinks, with almond, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, espresso and milk. I've tried a few horchata lattes at other places, but Case's version blew them all out of the water and became a favorite. Strong coffee, with the perfect balance of spices and flavors. Super refreshing in its iced version on a warm day. I'd love to come back and try the hot version on a cooler day. + Iced Latte: pretty solid choice. + Sea salt glazed donut: freshly made, fluffy inside, again the perfect level of sea salt sprinkle with sweet glaze. Not overly sweet. B and I were big fans. Would definitely get this again! + Maple glazed donut: J got this and was satisfied with it - seems like another solid choice if you're not feeling like going for the sea salt glaze.

Modern atmosphere. Coffee very acidic and upset my stomach. Staff friendly. This would not be my preferred coffee shop on Ashland.

    Vanilla honey iced latte

Stopped here yesterday before going to the Shakespeare festival and this place is amazing! Its atmosphere is bright and open and plenty of seating. Has a gender neutral bathroom. The barista literally was the most friendly ever and he gave us wonderful suggestions. We got their cold brew and an iced vanilla honey latte which was delicious. Love supporting local roasters so got some whole beans to go. Thanks.

Great coffee and pastries. The attitude I'd expect from a New York cafe though not a small town.

We chose this spot because of their stellar reviews, and they did not disappoint. We ordered their horchata cold brew and their banana bread latte (with a hemp milk substitute) which were both on their summer seasonal menu. The horchata was smooth and had great flavors. The banana bread latte was amazing! Easily one of my top 5 lattes I've ever had. The drink was smooth, creamy, and tasted like banana bread in a cup. There is plenty of seating inside, the staff was friendly. If I am ever back in town, I'll be swinging by to try more of their offerings.

We were greeted upon entering. Staff are friendly and talked us through the seasonal drinks that were available. There are several tables inside and it was quiet, so good for working or studying. We ordered a Banana Bread Latte and an Horchata Cold Brew to go. Drinks came out quickly and we tried them before heading out. Both were delicious. The Banana Bread Latte tasted like liquid banana bread. It had good banana flavor and the cinnamon added warmth to the drink. I was a bit concerned it would be too sweet with the brown sugar syrup and white chocolate, but it was a good sweetness level. The coffee was smooth and could be tasted even with all the other ingredients added. The Horchata Cold Brew was smooth and refreshing. The cold foam added a nice texture to the drink. Overall, giving Gathering Grounds Roastery a 5/5. Drinks and service are great. Staff are friendly and the ambiance is good for hanging out, studying, or working. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good coffee shop and would visit again when in the area.

While I empathize when business overhead cost increases and I don't expect them to eat it, I also am VERY aware that other competing brands of coffee in the PNW are not increasing their prices, and holding the line. Even some more small boutique brewers. I can name 3 or 4 brands right off the top of my head that many would recognize and their prices remain stable that I've purchased in the last week or two. And their coffee remains delicious. When I can get competing, and just as delicious products for approximately 15-16 a pound right now, that suggests it's one of two reasons: Either Rogue Roasters needs to switch suppliers, or RR is using tariffs as an excuse to price gouge- and I cannot say which it is, but I CAN say we are done with Rogue Roasters until they pull their prices back out of the stratosphere.

A Leap of Taste was one of the few spots open, and after seeing all the great reviews, we decided to give it a try. The ambiance is really cute and cozy -- lots of decor, lighting, and seating that makes it feel welcoming and comfortable. Service was also quick and friendly, which we appreciated. We ordered the Green Machine smoothie and a matcha, and both were really good and definitely a highlight of our visit. Where the experience fell a bit short for us was the food. While the presentation was great, the taste didn't quite match expectations. The breakfast tacos listed potatoes, but they ended up being more like tater tots, and the tortillas weren't warm -- my friend wasn't very fond of them. I ordered the #5 sandwich, which was described as being on jalapeño toast, but it came on regular toast instead, along with a pickle on the side. The sandwich itself was okay -- not bad, but something I could easily make at home. For the two drinks and two food items, we paid around $40, which felt a bit high considering the overall food experience. I can see why this place is well-loved by locals -- it fits the neighborhood vibe and likely appeals to the regular crowd -- but as visitors, the food didn't quite live up to the hype for us. Overall, it's a cute spot with great drinks, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. I'd probably come back for beverages, but I'd skip the food next time
