    Carnitas fajitas

We've been waiting for MONTHS watching them build out this restaurant.... Hoping for a great neighborhood Mexican spot and finally they opened last week! Pros: They did great job building out this restaurant! Beautiful interior with hand-painted ceilings and wall accents. Gorgeous lighting and accents, and the patio will be fun in the cooler months. The bar looked fun and was packed! The staff was well dressed and plentiful. Cons: They're still working out a LOT of kinks. The hostess station was overstaffed and stepping very obviously all over each other. The menu is short and not inexpensive at $20-25+ per entree. We asked for chips and salsa, but had to wait for a good ten minutes to have the table-side salsa gal to make her way to us... really a bummer (cute idea, but functionally terrible). We ordered a shareable carnitas fajita plate: the meat was plentiful but tough, a little dry and not great. The meal came with only two flour tortillas which were good but not enough based on the quantity of meat, as well as all the sides. Management did come to the table to see what they could do, which was good, but honestly we were just over it at that point. Overall, they've got some work to do here. It was packed, so the demand is there, but lots of kinks to work out.

Came here opening weekend and it was an experience for sure. I'm very glad we made a reservation because it was so crowded we could barely find a spot in the parking lot. We started out with the complimentsry tableside salsa. So fresh and yummy omg I'm just mad I had to share with my husband who can only tolerate mild salsa lol but it was still delicious even without a little kick. FYI the women making the salsa do accept tips so be sure to bring cash. I paired my chips and salsa with the ginger margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the little bit of candied ginger I got with it too. To share, we had the tlayuda which was huge. Def enough for a family portion. For my main, I went with the ceviche and my husband had the fajitas. The only disappointing bit was how long we waited for our food but I won't fault them for that as I'm sure they're still working out the kinks and learning how to handle such big crowds. The wait staff were kind and apologetic about the wait too. Overall, this is a great addition to the Tucson food scene and would be a great spot for family dinner or date night as long as you remember to make a rezzie!

This place just opened so it's pretty busy. We were a party of 2 so we decided to sit at the bar. We were greeted right away by Moslee. She was super friendly and attentive. We ordered Cadillac margaritas and they were fantastic. The table side salsa is a great addition and super fresh and tasty. We shared the fajitas for 2 with chicken fish beef and more. It's a generous helping and the flavors were on point. We will definitely be back

Delicious food and drinks! The tableside guac and salsa are an absolute must for anyone visiting! You can tell the owners truly had a vision when decorating this place and put so much thought into every detail. It's decorated like a charming Spanish casita, and the atmosphere is so inviting. Our food came out nice and hot. We ordered the carnes molcajete, and it arrived piping hot and incredibly flavorful. Everything was delicious, and we will definitely be back! Such a gem to Tucson!

    Salsa, guacamole and house margarita

We enjoyed our first visit to casa Vera. They have only been open a short while, so they are still working out everything. Not the full menu yet, but that will be coming. Decor is nice and food was great. We did not like the house margaritas , we would need to try something else on the future. Tacos, salsa and table side guacamole were great

It's about time we got a really good Mexican restaurant in this area and WOW is this place good! As soon as you enter, the atmosphere is one of celebration with the candles with melted wax lining the entrance table and the beautiful hanging lanterns everywhere. The service from the Hostess to the bussers is professional and friendly. Our waiter Vincent was friendly, professional, and helpful. The food was AMAZING. I had the Mole which was the best I've ever had. At our table there was an order of Chili Verde and Chili Colorado both being so good that there were a lot of moans of delight at first bite. Alexandra checked on our meals and service, taking care of any last minute needs. I had a red Sangria that was tasty and my husband enjoyed his marg. Our medium salsa was made tableside and if we'd wanted it, the guacamole is made to order also at your table. The complaints about the pricing confuse me. Everything has gone up this year but I believe you are paying for value and you get it here. The restroom was spotless which is my pet peeve, great job Casa Vera management, you've created a place people will want to return to.

Good service. Tasty horchata and ribeye/pollo tacos. A little pricey though. Nice ambience but a little loud.

We had to wait a bit at the beginning, but once they got to us, the service was top of the line. Taking care of a group that size is no small task, and they made it a wonderful evening. The guacamole was to die for! So fresh and full of flavor--I honestly could have made a meal out of that alone. And the food was just as good: everything tasted super fresh and delicious. This was definitely a dinner worth waiting for. Great food, excellent service, and a lovely evening with our group. I would happily come back--and the guacamole would be my first order!

To start, the chips brought to the table were stale and completely lacked that fresh, crispy crunch you expect at a Mexican restaurant. The complimentary table salsa didn't make up for it either--the flavor was underwhelming, and it had huge, unchopped pieces of cilantro tossed in that were way too large to enjoy with a chip. As for the main meals, the food was just okay--nothing special, lacking flavor, and certainly not memorable enough to redeem the start of the meal. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing visit, and I don't see us coming back.

When we entered the restaurant, I was immediately impressed with all of the accolades that Amelia's Kitchen seems to have accrued over the years. Maybe that set my expectations too high. We made a reservation, which I highly recommend, so we were quickly seated. but it did take a bit for someone to actually come and greet us and take our drink orders after being sat down. Then it was probably another 40 minutes before we actually got our food. I'm not sure if it was this lag time that affected the food quality, but several of my items were just lukewarm and some even cold? The star of the show was definitely, the molcajete. This came out sizzling and full to the brim with shrimp, nopales, chicken, asada, cheese, and lots of other goodies. In hindsight, I probably should've ordered one for myself. I went with the chicken mole enchiladas. Again, the sauce was okay but not super spicy, and it was a little cold, as was my side of rice and beans. We also ordered the mini birria chimis to share. and these were just OK, they tasted like frozen food. Overall, if you come here, I highly recommend getting the molcajete, but can't really vouch for any other items. Maybe we'll try it again on a less busy night.
