I order their fabulous tortilla soup and a senior-sized margarita (slightly smaller) and I have a wonderful lunch all by myself as I enjoy their decor and lively Mexican music. Visited August 2nd..see my receipt. THIS REVIEW IS FOR WILLOWS LOCATION NOT CHICO!!!! What a wonderful Mexican restaurant in Willows! We stopped in here after driving awhile on highway 5 and really wanted to try this place out! It's quite big inside and nicely decorated. Our server, JOSE, was so friendly and personable! We ordered some drinks (margarita was strong!) And was served complimentary warm chips with salsa. He also let us try some of the bean dip (yum!). It was such a relaxing atmosphere and highly recommend - we had fun and we met a really nice man that is known for his bbq expertise. He gave us a sample of his beef jerkey..awesome! (Can't wait to taste his salsas and bbq brisket and more..see his card..fatboysbbq) They have plenty of parking along with a generous menu. The employees and patrons were all kind and considerate! Btw..they are moving to another location down the street IN WILLOWS CALIFORNIA .The last day that this location will be open is August 3rd. I am so glad we visited here..strong margarita with a great bartender/server(Jose). Good job Casa Ramos! Can't wait to try your new location in Wllows! Ps. Unfortunately, I deleted the videos I got the à la Crema, which I get every single time I go there because I freaking adore. It is so goodand I highly recommend the restaurant. The staff is lovely. I've come here on more than a couple of occasions. I think the location is excellent, since it's not far from where I live and it's right next to Savemart. I can have a nice meal after doing grocery shopping or even before, which is probably better. The restaurant is very cozy on the inside: beautiful artwork on the walls, ample seating and some nice music playing in the background. And the lighting is fine. I'm no stranger to Mexican restaurants as I'm always up for Mexican food - so simple, yet so flavorful and filling. What I like is that even though there are many Mexican restaurants one can find around here, each one is unique and that's what makes it fun to try them all. Since I just talked about food, let's talk about what I normally order here. For their menu items, I like the Fried Taquitos - perfect as an appetizer or make it your entrée and add rice and beans with them. I always love chips and salsa, which means I love the complimentary chips and salsa I can eat while I wait for my food. Also, if the salsa is too mild for you, they have a spicier one, just ask! I've tried this at other restaurants, so I know and they all seem to have a salsa for the brave. :) If I'm looking for something lighter, I order the Taco Salad, which is delicious. I had that the last time I dined here and it was very good (savory grilled pieces of chicken on greens with fajitas), although it could've been a little fuller for the price. The service here has always been reasonably acceptable for me. Even on busy nights, my waiters/waitresses did well and I didn't have to wait any longer than necessary. That's always a plus for me. I've come here on many occasions and I have really enjoyed the service and quality. The chips and salsa are always consistent flavor wise. If you like SPICY there is a secret green salsa. Maria is amazing and she is always running around making sure everyone is feeling comfortable and enjoying themselves. This restaurant has been here in our community for years and from my experience it's really no surprise!! We've made a concerted effort to support locally owned businesses during the virus crisis, including eating at small restaurants once each week. This week's honor went to Casa Ramos on East Avenue. Too bad. They don't deserve the business. This place is a sit-down restaurant but has been offering take-out options for years and should have a handle on this. But, when we called and placed our order, the woman at the other end said "15 minutes." Arriving about 13 minutes later, the woman at the counter took our payment and said, "Oh - it's not done yet. Please have a seat." Not wishing to sit inside, we told her we'd wait outside, which happened to be right outside the glass door. Ten minutes passed ... then 15, and 20, when we headed back inside to find out if we could get our food and go. The woman looked at us as if we were from Mars as we stood there. "Is our food ready?" one of us finally asked. She stared at us blankly, then turned and took three bags off a nearby shelf. Without a word, she set the bags in front of us, mumbled "thank you" and turned to do something else. She clearly forgot we were outside, just feet away. We have no idea how long the food had been ready. Final indignity: We got home and noticed one of the styrofoam containers was leaking all over the inside of the bag. It turned out the kitchen staff had put hot enchilada sauce into the styrofoam, melting a couple of holes into it. Made a hell of a mess on our table. Still can't believe any restaurants are using styrofoam, especially for hot foods. Food was pretty good, which saved this rating from being a single star. You'd think when times are tough, as they are now, restaurants would "go the extra mile" to stand out. Sad to say, Casa Ramos appears to be unable/unwilling to go an extra few inches. read more

Something at Casa Ramos has changed. The management for one. I've been going to this location for fourteen years and the same staff has waited on me during that time. They were sort of like friends. Now they're gone. I order same meal every time so I know it like the back of my hand. I went in there today and the sauce on my enchilada was different and the meat was a bit Luke warm. The place was almost empty but it took longer than usual to prepare my meal. The gentleman who waited on me seemed to be more interested sitting and chatting to a young woman in a booth across from me than attending to his duties. Unprofessional to say the least. This was my go to place for Mexican food since Ricardo's sold and then went out of business when its operation suffered from poor management. Not sure I'll return. Too bad. read more

If I would have written this review last year, it would have probably been a 2 Star, "this place is mediocre" review, but it has actually grown on me since then. My boyfriend and I come here sometimes when we want decent Mexican food for a decent price. I'm not talkin 'authentic tacos and burritos', I'm talking more plates and sides. I never leave this place hungry and have been diggin their one item combo plates. Last time we went, my boyfriend had strict diet regulations due to a prior hospital stay, and they accommodated him and even made extra sure to go through and list every ingredient in the dish he was considering to see which ingredients should be omitted and which were okay for him to eat. Great sit-down spot in Chico. I've been a number of times and have celebrated two birthdays here. Gotta give this place major kudos for their birthday setup - they literally go all out. Expect a hat, spirited singing from the staff, a balloon pop, and a squeaky rubber chicken along with an impromptu photo op. They make sure that the birthday recipient won't ever forget their experience! A ton of fun! I enjoy the food here and feel that it's on par with other traditional Mexican restaurants. You'll find all the standard dishes here along with a good variety of specialty cocktails. The menu is large and there are a good amount of options to choose from. I've enjoyed each meal I've ordered. Service is great, too, and many of the staff members have been there for several years. Really feels like family here. This place is top notch and the best Mexican restaurant in Chico! The food is delicious with very large servings. The staff is super attentive and polite. The atmosphere is wonderful with bright paintings and classic Mexican music playing in the background. We took my 80 year old mother to lunch for Mother's Day. Our waiter, Saul, was excellent. He brought us carnations (in honor of Mother's day) and provided the best customer service! I highly recommend this restaurant!! read more

Let me start by saying, that we are huge Mexican Food fans, and could eat Mexican Food everyday of the week. We were in Chico for a sporting event, and looked for a decent Mexican Food place. We stumbled upon Casa Ramos. The place is not nearly as clean as the Redding location, and the food pales in comparison. My teen ordered a Chicken Burrito, it was decent sized, but had no frills, and was a whopping $14.50!!! For a Chicken Burrito, are you kidding me? The wife had the Pastor Taco plate, that was not to bad. I ordered the Taco Salad, what a joke. It had melted cheese over some shredded chicken, with a little shredded lettuce, and no beans, no tomatoe, no avocado, no sour cream, no chips all for the low price of $15. I have had Taco Salads for half the price that blows this one out of the water. I will not be back to this Casa Ramos. read more

I went here during dinner service and ordered the chili rellenos burrito. I was going to order the seafood burrito but they couldn't make it without mushrooms because it's mixed with the fish beforehand. After knowing that I didn't really want the burrito anyways. The service was kinda slow but not too bad. When I got my burrito the first thing I see is it's giant. It was pretty underseasoned and bland but the beans rice and chili rellenos tasted fresh and nothing was over cooked which can be an issue sometimes. We went here again for my daughters birthday and were able to eat inside, pleasant surprise during COVID, but thanks to the temporary Butte County order due to the hazardous air outside. Quite pricy, but the portions are huge! The menu is large so there's bound to be something for everybody. The server we had today was friendly and would crack jokes with us. A COCKROACH in my margarita... is the only reason I'm giving it a one!! During our family dinner on NYE, I was half way through my margarita when I saw it!! Absolutely the grossest thing that I can imagine happening with my order at a restaurant!!! It was my 1st and last time there! I went on line and noticed that things seemed pricy for Chico. I saw. a burrito the dose amigos that was half chili Colorado and half chili Verde. I thought what a great idea, 2 tastes in one plate in one burrito. I went on father's day with a group of four. We were greeted and seated right away. The service was quick and personable. Short turn around time.one person ordered a margarita which was large and pretty. The food came. And now I understand. The food is not served on a plate. It is served on platters. My dose amigos burrito was so large that it was cut into two. I thought that they had made a mistake and had served me 2 huge burritos topped with vegies and avacodo chunks. The plater was filled side to side. I was told it was one burrito. I think they are nuts. There was a tud ( my word for a ton) of food before me. Now I'm a big guy pushing 3.. Lbs.(I'm fat). I could only eat 1/4 of the meal. ITS A PLATTER!! I especially liked the chilie Verde because it had a good spice. A cockroach skitters on by and took shelter behind the picture frame by the desk. We politely paid for the food, took it home and had peanut butter sandwiches instead. Casa Ramos has been a go to spot for my husband and I for years. We took his parents there to announce that we were having our first child, celebrated many birthdays, and of course go there whenever my Chile popper craving surfaces. Their menu is hit or miss. Some items you'll love, while others are just meh. The veggie enchilada wasn't all that pleasant for me, but their Chile relleno was perfection. Warn chips are served to you, which was a bit of a shock the first time i tried to dive right into chips that were just fried. All in all, a great place with some amazing food. Only downside is it can be a bit packed in there, and is incredibly loud. read more
