Came across this spot while on a walk with my mom during the summer. Looked super cute. Recently ordered takeout 2x had the nachos and wowww what a great serving it was and packed with flavor. Loved it and was a good shareable size. Would love to go and dine in and try other things on the menu. Looking forward to trying the horchata. Fun fact: Takeout Thursday get 10% off. read more

Visited on a Sunday afternoon with a large party and was seated right away. Waiter was extremely attentive. I ordered the chicken enchilada which was very tasty and well portioned. Complimentary chips and salsa for the table. Others ordered the baby back ribs which fell off the bone and packed with flavor. Great service. Great food. Will def visit again. read more

The Stuffed Shrimp in the Mashed Potato's? For git about it, amazing flavors. My 2 year old granddaughter ate up her Rice , Beans and beef. We called, placed the order and I went to pick it up. The smell was amazing. The down side, their to go bags are way to thin as a result holes made for leaking juice on the floor. As a result I had to drive with it on my lap. Amazing smell but not for waring. UGH I called and was upset complaining and hung up. Minutes later one of the isn't called and he apologized. I let him know I wasn't happy but thank him for a quick response. I let him know I would NEVER order to go ever again and recommend they get small boxes to go. And that it was so good, we'd be back to eat inside. Bad Trip, delicious meal for 4. Thanks read more

Food was really delicious. Fresh. Guacamole tasted like it was just made. Each dish was good. Simple friendly feeling in the restaurant. Helpful and knowledgeable wait staff. Can't wait to go back read more

Great food, nice ambience. We were there on a Sunday evening. Not crowded. Service was very prompt and friendly. Will go there again.

Exceptionally fresh tastes, good salsas, huge selection of Jarritos flavors, and generous portions. The interior is clean and simple, and not noisy. Their flavors are not Tex-mex, comparable to the best of southern Cali. Casa Ortega please don't change your recipes or Chef! Will return, often. read more

Had to give another thumbs up to this place. Came again on a Thursday evening for dinner & it was busy but not mobbed. Our server was lovely, everything came out fast & we finally got to try their birria. I'm pretty loyal to another nearby great spot, however I must say their birria de res was AMAZING, best I've ever had. A bit on the wet side for me (the braised beef is so juicy that the juices/oil get everywhere, taco gets a lil soggy) but that was literally my only complaint. The flavor was outstanding, pink sangria was great, & we were blown away with dessert. I'm wary with desserts sometimes as so many restaurants focus on the mains leaving the dessert as an afterthought, but the stuffed churros rellenos were out of sight. Not a huge churro fan but I'd def order again, it was so good!! read more

I've been wanting to try Casa Ortega for quite some time. Well, I have to say I was not disappointed. I had Chicharron DeCalmari as an appetizer, I couldn't stop eating those tender, delicious calamari. For dinner I had Camarones(shrimp tacos with pineapple) WOW! Paired with a delicious margarita and I'm hooked! The service was great, Irving was terrific! The restaurant is bright and clean, family friendly atmosphere Highly recommend!! read more

I have not reviewed a restaurant in a very long time. Partly because of the pandemic, but mostly because I haven't found one that totally wowed me!!! Tonight, at the urging of a friend, seven of us went to Casa Ortega for the first time and we were astonished at how delicious and beautifully presented the food was. Every single person loved their meal. In particular, be sure to try the Mexican corn. I had a vegetarian taco dish that I will most certainly order when I return there. Normally I don't get a dessert; however, based on the high quality of the gourmet Mexican food, I went for the warm chocolate-raspberry cake with ice cream (not to worry - I shared the delicious calories with a friend). The meal was so good that we asked for the chef to come out to a round of applause. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. read more

The best oaxacan/Mexican food I have ever had in this area or maybe ever. I could eat this everyday and never get sick of it. I have went for brunch and also dinner and every time it's so amazing. The drinks are so good too!!! You have to go read more

We've been here several times and really love it. The food tastes fresh. It's always served like a work of art. But it tastes great too! We always get the nachos. It's not the usual giant appetizer plate you would get at a lot of other places; however, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in flavor. Even though it's on the smaller side, it's a must have. Typically we share between 4 people before mains are served. You can never go wrong with the fish tacos at this place. They are fantastic! We've tried other items on their menu like the carne asada torta and specials. Service is always friendly and quick to get you anything you need. Nice ambiance. I would describe this as upscale Latin-x food that never skimps on flavor. read more

Heading out of town after dropping off my kiddo at college, we stopped by for a drink. Coming from Arizona we don't eat Mexican out East. I am so glad we did! First, the staff was so nice and took great care of us. Then I had great chips and salsa and two EXCELLENT shrimp tacos. Arizona-standard excellent. (We are crazy picky about our Mexican.) The restaurant was inviting and had a great ambiance. Totally worth a visit. read more

With so many Mexican places to choose from in the Hudson Valley this is the standout. A beautiful building, great parking and a bright large dining room. Outside is a patio area that is big and inviting. The menu was a selection of different types of Mexican food from Puebla, Oaxaca - different regional specialties with a chef's flair. We ordered the tacos with short rib and beef au jeu - it was really incredible. Crispy tacos stuffed with short rib and then dipped in the juice was just delicious. The Sopa Azteca was a tomato base with hints of tangy pepper. My son decided on the Al Pastor tacos. Gluten free with Guajillo marinated pork, grilled pineapple, onion, cilantro, guacamole salsa and morita salsa. Just beautifully prepared, fresh and a good sized portion. It was so good we had to try dessert. Of course there were churros - but these came with a chocolate and dulce con leche sauce for dipping. Wow. The flan was also different from the rest. Quality ingredients put together with attention and love. The drinks were great and the staff was attentive. The staff is key these days for a good experience and they were knowledgeable and friendly. If you are looking for something different, something more upscale and unique in the Mexican category, with a good price point - I strongly suggest checking this out. Perfect outdoor patio for a group. read more

This place is so good! I've only ordered take out the two times I've been, haven't had sit down but I'm sure it's great based on how well the food traveled. Highly recommend everything I've ordered : Camarones Rellenos De Cangrejo - thought this would be like a breaded fried mashed pots with shrimp in the middle but it was garlic shrimp over mashed potatoes and spinach, yum. Quesabirria Tacos - 2 big tacos ‍ Al Pastor Tacos - smaller than the quesabirria but comes with rice n beans Quesadilla + carnitas - level up! Side of Queso Dip - ooey gooey with crunch chips read more

We go to this place every-time our son comes home from college to visit. This place is awesome!!! We live in beacon. We have gone to the new place in beacon and do not like due to the tasteless food. The Casa Ortega is worth driving to Wappengers Falls. They have NEVER disappointed. I am talking from the food, drink, and Desserts. Give this place a try. read more

The best Meal I have ever had!!! This place does not disappoint. The food is prepared with such talent. Every single thing we ordered was magnificent. The octopus civiche is to die for. The enchiladas verde are too. The drinks are not only delicious, but they are so beautifully executed. My husband had the Birria tacos and we both agree they are the best Birria tacos we have ever had in our lives. The service was incredible! We felt so welcomed and taken care of. They even let us bring our own birthday cake and they sang and cut the cake for us too! The only think I regret is not trying the dessert because I heard every dessert they make is out of this world. We will be back for more incredible food and dessert! read more

Moving to NY from Texas, Mexican food was lacking to say the least until we found Cass Ortega. This restaurant puts out the best Mexican food around here by far. Skip the others, come for the margaritas, guacamole, and any and all the tacos. Their soup is amazing-spicy, rich, and full of flavor. read more

Casa Ortega - Quesabirria Tacos - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Wappingers Falls, New York

Two of the best meals I've ever eaten have been at Casa Ortega. I'm over sixty, dine out regularly, know how to cook and have spent time in Mexico, and the food at Casa Ortega is the best Mexican food I've ever had. In Wappingers Falls and Poughkeepsie, towns saturated with Mexican eateries, Casa Ortega distinguishes itself by the quality of its dishes. The cuisine explodes with flavor - subtle, intriguing, complex - and tantalizes with texture and color. The poblano pepper stuffed with quinoa, mushrooms and pepitas, and topped with crema and queso blanco, was served over one of the best tomato sauces I've ever tasted. This hearty dish, green and red like Christmas, was equally delicious reheated the next day. The shrimp stuffed with crab meat that I chose on our second visit was just as delectable, accompanied by a zesty red-and-yellow chipotle sauce and served with a substantial side of mashed potatoes and spinach. The spinach was barely blanched, so that it was still bright green and at its most flavorful. Our brisket-filled, corn taco appetizer was also just right; the meat was slightly charred and the sliced radishes, chopped avocado and lime wedge added punches of color, silky softness and crunch. The icy coconut, watermelon and mango sorbet trio we sampled for dessert was refreshing and served with a bold fruit compote: diced mango and bits of blackberry dredged in salt and what may have been balsamic vinegar. Skilled chef Fermin Ortega serves up bites of heaven on a plate. If this small restaurant was packed by the time we left, it's no secret why. read more

Great food, excellent service, amazing margaritas! Our only complaint - the noise level inside was too much for me. We were able to sit on the patio, even though it was raining. They have a canopy overhead so you stay nice and dry. read more
