I usually write my reviews after I leave, but I have so much extra time on my hands while I sit here and wait to order my next item from their "all you can eat" menu. I seriously advise against ordering from this menu. They will leave you with your first item and NEVER COME BACK. I'm seriously fuming right now. It's not even busy. On top of that, our waitress was mean. Not just unfriendly, but borderline scary. I heard the bathrooms are so bad I was advised to just wait til the next gas station. The decor was interesting, so I guess we paid for a museum. The food was bland. And cold. Glad I went so I know where not to go. This is a serious never. read more

Spicy and mild salsas with chips to start. The server was perky and polite. We were a party of 7 returning to Las Vegas. What a hoot with all the animal taxidermy on the walls. But the food, OMG, so good! I had a combo plate with chile relleno and crispy chicken taco, con rice and beans. Fluffy rice, smooth beans, and tasty relleno and taco, with a hint of lime sprinkled over it all with robust veggie slices and cotija cheese. We'd been here 5 years ago, and it held its reputation up well. A place to keep on our list of favorite places while motoring. read more

Kids chicken burrito was a handfull of boiled chicken, no season with refried beans that taste like nothing. Bean and rice combo had no flavor. Shrimp burrito was horrible, huge chunk of peppers not sliced. It didnt take fresh or flavorful. Extremely disappointed. Thankfully Popeyes is 1 exit up so we could still get something to eat for our road trip. The food was truly horrible. read more

Neat taxidermy all around the restaurant so you can get up before or after eating to admire the well-done (hah) animals. The service was friendly and efficient and the air conditioning was a ripe temperature to shield you from the hot outdoors. I enjoyed my sister's steak and the shrimp was delicious. They cook venison and buffalo too but you should call in first to see if it's in stock. Unfortunately, that's all the nice things about this establishment. The aforementioned taxidermy surrounding the walls is very cool but covered in a layer of dust. It makes me uncomfortable seeing that much dust around food. A good frequent dusting should be done after closing. I got the chile relleno and it was not very tasty. The rice and beans had no flavor. The plain hamburger and fries were very basic as well. The salad was very weird as it came with sour cream instead of ranch? They didn't even ask me if I wanted sour cream on my salad? It was very weird and gross. Just needs more salt, pepper, and spices added to their kitchen. The bathroom is uncomfortable as only the handicapped stall (for women) shuts completely. The other stall does not close as the door lock is not long enough to actually hold a lock. This is unfortunate since it looks like a simple $10 fix to Home Depot. Also, the soap is at an awkward location and the towel dispenser gets stuck so you'll have to wipe your wet hands on your pants or air dry. We are planning on returning in a few months so we'll see if it gets any better. read more

Surprisingly good food. I had the mojarra frita, the young man had the chicken quesadilla, hubby and his boss both had the all you can eat $8.95 special. My mojarra was one of the best I've ever had. Perfectly fried and very fresh. Hubby and his boss had the chicken enchiladas which were tasty as well, but I'm not an enchilada fan. Hubby also got the carnitas which was fantastic. I've never had carnitas that was so crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. We also tried the chile colorado which again, was flavorful. The $8.95 all you can eat deal is great if you have a big appetite and do not wish to have any seafood. This is very good for any Mexican restaurant, let alone one in Barstow. read more

First off we have to address the odd interior design. YES ITS WIERD AS HELL!! So what!! I'm here for the damn food so My rating will be strictly food and service Food: Chips and salsa were ok. I enjoyed the red better than the green. Green had more spice than red, which is opposite from What I'm used to. Chicken taquitos lunch special. $6. Price was great. Rice was great!! Fluffy and flavorful. Beans had a burnt taste to it. Maybe the pot they cooked it in had burnt the bottom and the whole things tasted like it. Taquitos were over done. Chicken dry and hard inside. Service: one waitress for about 8 tables I saw. She was actually on top of things though. She had a little girl, 10 maybe, helping to clean. I'm guessing her daughter. Food was just average, but I'm sure better than other Mexican spots around here. Looked authentic. read more

This is one of my Favorite places to eat in Barstow. I love the food and the Ambiance is very nice. (May offend someone who has an issue with hunting or animals being killed). There are of lot of Big Game catches on dispel that the Owner & his Brother have actually hunted themselves. Definitely a place to get few great Pictures. read more

Stopped by here on our way back home to Los Angeles from Las Vegas and arrived at about 1PM. It's a really large space for a restaurant with lots of animal statues: deer heads on the walls, whole stags, bears, and other wildlife for decorations. Definitely a woodsy feel to it. Price. There were entree dishes as cheap as $6 and ranged up to $20. Individual tacos, flautas, and taquitos (I think?) were between $2-3 each, if that's all you want but these individual orders did not come with anything additional. The entrees came with rice and refried beans with cheese. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga. My friends and their family ordered other entrees like enchiladas combination, steak and eggs, fried shrimp combination, two flautas combination and the list goes on. Point being, they stuck to Mexican dishes that they know that they would like and were the combo's that came with rice, refried beans and cheese. Customary tortilla chips and salsa were included as well as tortillas for the meals. My Chicken Chimichanga was $5.95. The shredded chicken was tender, juicy, and full of that delicious chicken flavor. My combo included a side of guacamole and sour cream. Everything on the plate complemented each other and served to enhance each other's flavors. Great job to the chef at Casa Jimenez. Ambiance. It's more of a family and large groups type of feeling that I got from this restaurant. They do have a full bar, which is rather interesting. Service. They were friendly and attentive. No major complaints except that they did have a bit of wait time to set up the tables and chairs for our somewhat large group of 7. All in all, it's a pretty decent spot for Mexican food, if you're either on your way to Vegas or coming back from Vegas, which we were. read more

These are one of those rare, novel places that you stumble across and are never the same afterward. We were looking for somewhere to grab dinner on our way back to L.A. from Vegas. We skipped the typical In-n-Out and fast food joints and on a whim pulled up here. Upon entering and observing the decor, I totally took it upon a myself to judge the place; redneck hunter folk serving up Mexican food? Good gracious, I hope I can get a decent quesadilla.... For those who've been here, it's a family run business and the family is presumably really into hunting and taxidermy; the entire restaurant is dedicated to this passion. The place wasn't busy when we arrived but soon more people started rolling in and the servers were hustling. The food took slightly longer than what I'd like to arrive but made up for in taste and authenticity. I ordered a chicken torta (which was pretty much grilled chicken in a bun but it was some darn good chicken. We also opted for some steak and chicken tacos which were really good. They're prices are reasonable and the place was clean and well kept. If you can get past the stuffed animal heads staring back at you, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with how good the food is. I was a bit disappointed by this place. Based on the reviews, I expected solid but not great Mexican food. I ordered the beef hard-shell taco (lunch special) and did not particularly like it. There wasn't much in the taco other than meat. I tried adding some salsa to the taco to jazz it up and it only slightly helped as the salsa was kind of runny and not too flavorful. This place is ok if you don't have a lot of other options, but I wouldn't go out of your way to eat here. read more

The service sucks. When we finally got a table we sat for fifteen minutes before given chips. I had to go search to find a high chair as I clearly needed one holding my baby. Another ten or so minutes went by before getting water. We finally order food and when it comes it was very bland the chicken is dry and flavorless. My daughter ordered a bean and cheese burrito now if u mess that up that tells u something. It was chock full of cheese not a bean in sight. We waited forever for the check but no one ever came by our table so my daughter had to ask for it. There is no reason to return to this place. read more

Overated. The exotic meats are expensive (hence why they have no prices on that part of the menu) and questionable on freshness. Seems the actual Mexican food standbys were okay, but nothing special or amazing. The place is fantastic! Good salsa, rice, and beans. That's a good standard right off the bat. They don't have handmade tortillas, however they do have a selection of "exotic " meats. I had venison, it had been awhile since I've eaten deer. So I had that in a fajita style. Add a house margarita and I was a happy camper. Also the place had good ambiance. The exotic meats they offered kinda went with this motif they had,; in which they showcased various stuffed wild animals. It was cool. read more

I would also never in my life think that a Mexican restaurant would adopt this kind of theme, yet here this restaurant stands. We were given a basket of chips and two dishes of salsa. One was hot, and the other mild. The hot one tasted weird, the mild one was very watery, and the chips were clearly no homemade. I ordered three chicken tacos, and they pretty much sucked. The chicken was very dry, the taco shells were overcooked, and whole plate lacked something very important: Flavor. I was able to try some of the carnitas, and they weren't the best I've ever had, but they were miles above the chicken. Great food and even better service. I came in with my service dog and was seated in the main dining area with other guests. A few minutes later, our host informed us that he had received a complaint from one of the customers. Instead of asking us to leave, he kindly and politely asked us to relocate to a different area where no one else was sitting. A few minutes later, a couple walked out, stating out loud that they "changed their mind" and would come back "maybe next time". Still, the staff was very kind to us and our meal was great. If you want good Mexican food save your money and go to dominguez. The food at this place has no seasoning no flavor I ordered fajitas and they brought it on a piece of wood with some tin looking plate and bracket that look like they should hold a shelf together. I had 4 other people with me the only one that enjoyed their meal was someone that ordered the Chile Rejjeno plate. pretty hard to mess that up! The food was terrible. The beans are Rosarita beans, WTH!!. The rice had a burned taste..My taquitos were good. My husband red burrito was terrible, the meat was dry. I'm so disappointed. We love the brand, we eat at the Fontana restaurant. Maybe for Barstow this is acceptable?? The service was great. The waitress was amazing. I did ask her if the beans were Rosarito beans she denied it. I told her come on now stop lying. Those are Rosarita beans and the rice had a burnt taste. This place is OK if you're either on your way back or from Laughlin and you're hungry. This has been about my 3rd time I've been here. Honestly the food quality just seems to get worse every time I go. It's a family owned restaurant but customer service is not all that good. The only part I like about this place is that they do have an all you can eat menu at an affordable price. What grosses me out about this place is all the taxidermy animals they have everywhere. If you look at their window sills you will see that they really haven't been cleaned. Their bathrooms stink, they have no soap and are just dirty. Had to stop by to this restaurant and give my own review to Casa Jimenez!!! Reading all the bad reviews people wrote made me want to stop by even more!! All I have to say is please don't go based on other people bad experience they may had have!!! This place was delicious and the service was not what I expected. We were greeted by Rosario (the owner) she was also our waitress. Quick service, hand made corn tortillas, spicy salsas, fresh traditional drinks (Jamaica drink) yummy!! The food was ok and the waitresses were polite...as you know there are tons of dead animals watching you eat. Ok fine...I can deal with that but what I found appalling were the pictures on the farthest wall with a child holding a rifle. There are quite a few pictures of this same child holding a rifle with dead animals. One of which appears to be a pet puppy. If hunting is your thing, you'll love this place but I cannot get the image of that puppy out of my head. read more

All I can say is this place has some pretty good food. I got the fajita mixo: steak, shrimp and chicken, best plate I have tried in the inlandempire. My husband had the burrito which was also good. This place may not look this a usually mexican restaurant, but their food is good, worth going again. Maybe next time I'll try their tortas or their breakfast and see how good those are. Sadly they didn't have horchata so I can't say how it tastes. Otherwise I'd say this is a good place to eat. read more

If its lunch or dinner time on a trip to or from Arizona we try to stop here. This time on our way to AZ we stopped for lunch. We were a party of 8. 4 kids 4 adults. We were sat, then another lady gave us chips and salsa. Then we sat and sat. With loud small children getting restless. Another large group came in and sat at another table opposite of us. At the point when my smallest daughter was not going to sit in the high chair any longer, I looked up and saw the waitress taking that other tables order. Then she turns around and talks to another booth who had literally walked in. I said, "That's it! We're leaving!". I'm not going to sit here with restless children all under the age of five being ignored. We started to walk out and the woman who gave us chips looked at us then looked for the waitress who walked up they said something to each other she glanced at us then she turned around and walked towards the kitchen. The family that owns it and works in it are very nice. They speak Spanish. The menu are all of the Mexican favorites. Southern California Mexican. I had the guacamole with chips and a refried bean dip. Both were really good the guacamole was fresh. They make big margaritas ! The I inside was a little off kilter for me. I'm an animal lover and it is like the house of Taxidermy in there! Even a blowfish. I hear the family actually killed all of the animals in there but don't know if that is a myth. read more
