Wow! What a wonderful place to eat Tex-mex and authentic Mexican dishes. I hope Venus knows what a gem of a restaurant they have in this small, dusty town. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes made from scratch. Everything from the tortillas, to the sour cream, to the guacamole, to the salsa is house made and delish. If you live near this place please continue to support such good food. Make sure you pay attention to what comes with a meal. For example, if a dish comes with guacamole and you ask for sour cream instead, they may charge you for it and not give you the guacamole. In this case, just let them know that you didn't receive any guacamole and do not wish to be charged for the sour cream. Other than that great food! read more

Amazing food and friendly service. They have a dessert bar with cookies, pastries and cheesecakes that are really good. The restaurant is clean and modern and byob. This will definitely be on my family's restaurant rotation. read more

My new favorite Mexican restaurant even though I've only been once! It was so delicious! The atmosphere is also nice, it is colorful and unique. My husband and I cannot wait to go back. We sometimes joke about moving to Venus just to frequent the restaurant. We live in Grapevine which is at least 30 mins away. Oh and of course the employees were very friendly! I was slightly disappointed there's no alcohol but really not a big deal sometimes the food is all you need. read more

Excellent food! From the chips to the street tacos, this place was exceptionally great! The food was hot, service was friendly and everything was clean! read more

I crave this place! The food is wonderful, the people are awesome. This is truely one of the great places!!!!!!

One of the best hidden treasures in Venus! The food was authentic Mexican ingredients. I had the Chile Relleno stuffed with shrimp and cheese served with golden rice and refried beans and corn tortillas. We had the queso and guacamole and it was so awesome we had 2 bowls of each!!! The restaurant was very modern decorated very festive and clean. The staff was awesome and friendly. We did not get to order from the bakery because we were so full of yummy goodness. But they have sweet breads and treats. We will be going back again!!! Please support this local business open just 8 mths they are fantastic. read more

My wife and I recently moved to Venus, TX and discovered this gem of authentic Mexican food. Best I have ever had! They make everything in-house. Even the mole sauces which take a lot of effort. Friendly, attentive staff and GREAT food at reasonable prices. What more could you ask for? read more

We went there for breakfast and the food was fantastic! Great service, food at a good price, really the best Mexican Restaurant I've been to and I've tried them all! read more

Authentic and delicious Mexican food! Very inexpensive and so worth the drive from Dallas. Service was so good and restaurant clean and had a great atmosphere. The owner takes pride in her small but perfect restaurant. read more

Our first time there and the last. Only a very items listed on a chalkboard although I was told by someone in line there is a menu--there were none available except at the counter where you place your order. Chips are $1.99 and an additional $3.75 for queso or guacamole. The chips were very thick and not very good (and not hot so it's doubtful they're made on site as some reviewers claim). Miniscule amounts of red salsa and a very hot green salsa were with the chips. The guacamole was excellent. The rice was gummy and looked like it had been plated with a small ice cream scoop--pretty tasteless. The "beans" were a runny mess and pretty tasteless also. The 2 chicken enchiladas ($7.99) were served on homemade tortillas with a generous amount of white meat chicken. The white queso (with a drizzling of very very runny sour cream) topping was good. The salsa verde enchiladas were extremely hot and there was a lot of salsa verde all over the plate. They bought a miniscule serving of the runny sour cream (seriously, it was pourable!) to cut the hot which didn't really work well. It took just under 30 minutes to get the 2 enchilada plates. Once you eat, you stand in line to pay and they only tell you the amount, you do not see what they charged for each item. They do bring you your food and refill drinks; however, it was about like eating at Fuzzy's Taco Shop only more crowded (the Fuzzy's reference is because this is the only other Mexican food place I've seen that charges for chips although the ambiance is about the same). It was not worth the drive and it's just another place to eat Mexican food (not a restaurant by any stretch of the imagination). read more

I've eaten here a few times in the last two weeks. It's my new favorite place. I've tried the street tacos, nachos, enchilada, and plan on trying their breakfast today. Love the food, it's not only delicious but served very attractively. Everyone there is very friendly, the service is quick, and I love the location. read more

A bit surprising despite the already 5-star rating, but this place is excellent. Home made tortillas make a big difference, but everything was tasty and the people were very nice and helpful. read more

Food was on point, definitely will get me back! The process of getting a table and ordering was a bit confusing, and no refills on soda. I can get canned drinks at home. But the food is outstanding, and the service was good. Food came out quick and fresh. Get a soda machine and this would be 5 stars. read more

Cute trendy atmosphere and decor. Food was very fresh, I had menudo and a bacon, egg and cheese burrito both were very good and came with homemade flour tortillas. Staff was also very friendly. This was my first visit, but will surely become a regular. Give this place 2 thumbs up! read more

Had lunch there today. The food was tasty, very well presented. Extremely fresh ingredients. Dessert case was fantastic. My only complaint is that you are not able to view your bill. You can have it emailed or texted to you. I was charged for something I didn't receive, but did not become aware of it unti afterl I read my email. I like to see what I'm paying for upfront, not after the fact. I wish they would change this system. Other than that, if you're in the area, check them out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Had some time to kill in Mansfield TX, so we drove down to Venus to eat here. Easily the best Mexican food I've had in Texas (I'm not a native Texas or live here). I've been all over the US and this place is in my top 3 Mexican food restaurants list. Huevos con Machaca (spicy) = yummy. read more

I've never left a review in my life. This place absolutely deserves it. Fantastic food, great prices, and hands down the best service I've had at any restaurant in a very very long time. We drove 30 minutes to try this place out and it was absolutely worth it! read more

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant, the enchiladas and fajitas are absolutely worth coming back for time and again! Lovely little atmosphere, too! read more

When we moved to North Texas, we assumed that we were going to find a plethora of authentic Mexican restaurants. That was not the case: the good ones were few and far away. Fast forward five years, and now we are so happy to have found Casa Jacaranda in Venus, TX: authentic food, great flavor, very friendly staff, great decor ... everything about this place is fantastic and I'm not surprised of the perfect rating so far. We had the chorizo street tacos, mole enchiladas, chicken huarache, and seafood tacos. My kids were eating things that for years they have refused to try! We also got some churros and other pastries to bring home. I wasn't crazy about the look of the guacamole (not the bright fresh green one would like to see but rather a bit on the brownish side). Despite the guacamole, I think this is definitely a 5-start kind of place. read more

Yum! That's the best way to start. Being first timers to Casa Jacaranda we really went in with no idea what to order and the staff was eager to go over the menu and give suggestions. I had the fajita huarache, couldn't decides on chicken or beef so they suggested half and half, it was wonderful! Great flavor but not spicy. My husband had the fajita chilaquiles which he equally enjoyed, his was spicy. If you like coffee the Mexican coffee is a must. This is a new find we will be frequenting, authentic, fresh and delicious with a casual inviting decor and friendly staff. I look forward to going back. read more

This is my favorite place to eat. The food is wonderful, the people are very entertaining that work there, and it's at an affordable price. I eat there at least twice a week. read more

This place is amazing! Great food great service! We drove 30 minutes to come back and totally worth it.

Delicious food and friendly attentive people. If you want a treat, definitely make the trip to Venus for some outstanding Mexican food. And be sure to check out the bakery. read more

This is hands-down the best Mexican food anywhere near the Metroplex. I would even say it's the best Mexican food I've ever had in my life, and some of the best food I've ever had from any cuisine. My wife and I lived in LA for a few years, so TexMex was pretty disappointing. This is authentic Mexican food with influences from both Toluca and Monterrey. The owners are very friendly, the food is always top-notch and fresh. The enchiladas mole, the beef enchiladas, and the fajita huarache are all amazing. Consistently excellent food is hard to find, but my wife and I come here at least once a week and the quality never changes. read more

Amazing place.. I've had Mexican at a few places now when we go to visit my sister in TX and this place takes the cake.

This place rocks. Had a friend tell me about. Took the family there Friday night, and the place didn't disappoint . We will be back.

Very pleasant atmosphere and equally good food! The staff was very friendly and attentive!

Authentic Mexican cuisine. A great find in little Venus! I found the Mexican pastries to be a good edition.

What a great place to eat. The food was awesome and the pastries as well. The owners/staff are welcoming and friendly. If you're a fan of mole - it's a must to have here. Everything was so fresh, authentic and yummy! If I lived closer, I'd be a regular. You must check it out. :-) read more

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Tortillas are absolutely to die for as are the different salsas. Super friendly staff as well. My only complaint is it's a little pricey for the amount of food you receive. They really need to increase the amount of rice and beans they put on a plate. Just not enough to fill you up. Regardless, I give 5 stars because the food is that tasty delicious and staff beyond nice. read more

I had the menudo and it was just the way menudo should taste. I could have gone for spicier, but I understand they can't go too over board. It was very flavorful and the right amount of hominy, tripe, and chile colorado (close to my grandma's menudo ). Perfect for a foggy cold morning day. The cafe de olla was excellent, such a different flavor than your average cup of joe. I am looking forward to returning to try more from their menu. Note that menudo is only made on Saturdays and Posole is only made on Sundays. read more

So so delicious. Best Mexican food I've had in as long as I can remember. We ordered the quesadillas, fajitas, and fajita huaraches. All of it was AWESOME!!! Really good chips and the white queso was also delicious. I'm thrilled something so tasty is this close to my house!! Staff was super friendly also. Will be back very soon! read more

Excellent!!! I'm a tough critic. Don't care much for eating out. Really don't care much for Mexican food. This place won me over! Truly home made. Everything. Nothing prepackaged. Best chips and hot sauce ever. Not too hot. I asked for several changes and they accommodated them all. The three of us got different meals. Every meal was great. I don't think you can go wrong with anything there. It's as cute as a button, squeaky clean, friendly attentive staff. Worth the drive. I'm a fan! read more

Wow!!! Can't say enough amazing things about this place! We moved to Alvarado from Fort Worth and have been missing some good Mexican food and more so some good tacos. We took a chance on a rainy day and stumbled inside and fell in love! The ambiance is wonderful with the exposed brick and Edison bulbs contrasting nicely with the bright seating. If you come in the morning you can smell the fresh baked pastries as you walk in. We HIGHLY recommend the tacos! It comes with 4 tacos with a large helping of tender meat. We chose the steak and it was so tender! It comes like street tacos with cilantro and onion and lime with a side of rice and beans. The corn tortillas are hot and fresh and taste like nothing you can get at the grocery store. The salsas are homemade and packed with flavor! The staff was friendly and helpful! They even have Mexican cokes which pair perfectly! Definitely give this place a chance! read more

On this quiet little square in this quiet little town is an unassuming and cozy restaurant that offers a unique latin menu that you might call "Mexican," but it's definitely not the standard fare. Excellent food, great prices, friendly staff, and they offer catering as well. I can only think of one suggestion for improvement: the dipping bowls could be a little bigger to accommodate dipping the chips into the great array of salsas available. read more
